Anyone Planning To TTC From October

VeryKeenForABean · 23/08/2008 20:49

Hi, I had an ectopic in May and am coming up to the end of my 3 month wait following methotrexate treatment. Need to wait for blood results in September but hope to start TTC from October. Feel really positive about the future and want to start looking forward. Anyone want to pass the time with me?

Hi All,

Peacelily - sorry to hear about your MC. There are a few of us here following a MC and know how fretful TTC is...

VillageMum - great that AF came on time (choo choo) and that your cycle is back to normal. Totally understand wanting to wait until your emotionally ready. I swing from being desperate to get pg to terrified that I can't handle the stress and knicker checkng that will ensue... Think my AF is starting today - two days late - glad its also back on track (aaargh - you have me on the railway metaphors now!). Still felt dissapointed though but too much to expect falling pg a mere 6 weeks after mc.

I just hope it happens soon - I'm 38 next May...

VillageMum · 23/10/2008 12:15

Welcome peacelily, theautomatic, memoo... bluesatinsash, well, I turned 39 in August! Discovered I was pg at the beginning of that month (and it was a total accident - one quickie in July three days before I ov'd. Just shows you. You have time, believe me!) I also swing between desperation to ttc again straight away now that AF has come and knowing that I should wait this month out because it will do ME good and help me handle a future pg with less stress. So far sanity is winning... You will get that BFP, don't you worry! x

peacelily, if I keep my nerve I'll be ttc again come late November, so let's keep each other company!

olivo · 23/10/2008 14:05

welcome peacelily, automatic and memoo.
I am on the last day of my pills today, was going to take another week or two but am now on antibiotics so they wouldnt necessarily work anyway.
so....we are just going to go for it as of next week. i am 34,nearly 35.
villagemum, well done on making that decision, it's so important to have your head around everything that has happened. are yo goign to get that tooth done then? I have cancelled my appt (i'd actually made it on a day when i am in london anyway, so it was a good excuse!)

spats · 23/10/2008 15:01

my friend has just annouced she is pg, i feel v low when is it my turn? it is such a long time to wait each month after trying, before af is due, its so not fair.

VillageMum · 23/10/2008 15:15

olivo, you are a spring chicken!
No, I've left the tooth as is. Apparently it's not urgent and can wait - and I don't want to mess with it until I've had a successful pgncy! Feel much better about that. Will be ttc at the end of November so still don't want heavy metals being released into my system before then!
Good luck as you go pill free!

spats, your turn will come... where are you now in your cycle?

theautomatic · 23/10/2008 17:01

oh Spats, sorry to hear you are feeling low. It is unfair how some people seem to fall pregnant so easily while others struggle. I am so envious of all the pregnant women I see, and at the moment they seem to be bloody everywhere!

I am 33 and although I know I have a few years yet cant help thinking that I need to crack on and get pregnant soon. I just know that if I was 16 I'd fall pregnant straightaway, whereas now I've got my own home, reasonable job etc it will take forever! sods law.

Olivo, think you are right to stop taking the pill. Wish I'd stopped taking mine sooner. I naively assumed I'd fall pregnant straightaway after coming off it but its been about 3 months now and counting...

spats · 23/10/2008 19:04

vilage mum i am CD12 so BD starts this weekend. No pos OPK yet but not expecting that until probably sun, Fri night is the 1st BD and then every night (we are away for weekend!!) until i get a pos OPK. Thats the plan anyway. Just gets frustratin doesn't it that you have no control over it. Gosh i sound like a control freak

thegreatescape · 24/10/2008 12:03

Af arrived yesterday. Humpf. 8 days late so just as TTC, cycle goes freestyle. Have told DH this means we have to have more sex! How come this is never a problem when you first get together? You never seem too busy/tired/engrossed in 'Silent Witness'... where did all the energy come from??

I currently know about 10 pregnant women so fingers crossed for this month.

VillageMum · 24/10/2008 14:13

theautomatic, don't worry, at 33 your fertility is still up there!

spats, good luck! I think getting pg is an aspect of life where we ladies do need to take some control if anything is going to happen... knowing your 'window' is empowering! Go for it! babydust!

thegreatescape, ha ha, 'Silent Witness' is my personal anti-aphrodisiac - all those dead bodies! If you'll be ttc again in November I'll keep you company because I will be too (without 'SW'!)

thegreatescape · 24/10/2008 14:45

Although Dr Harry is puts a little sex appeal into it!

bluesatinsash · 25/10/2008 13:30

Hi All,

Made up a new playlist on my I-pod this morning and had a great session at the gym so feeling all fit and positive today!

Bring on next month's babydancing (just checked my cycle and I should be hitting my fertile time on 5th November! )

peacelily · 25/10/2008 13:50

Hi All, thanks for the welcome, I've got a conundrum!!

Feel sick, boobs are swollen and can get milk out of them (!) stopped bf 18 months ago, is this pmt or pg??!

Not due til 2nd Nov, what do I do!?! Do I do a test? Will I get a reliable result?

Only feel sick in throat though IYKWIM, not in stomach and dh has been feeling nauseuous recently, also might be anxiety.

What to do!!

bluesatinsash · 25/10/2008 14:12

I would err against doing a test just now as your body may be foxing you but then I'm a "don't test-until AF-is-late" girl.

Its so frustrating that AF symptoms are also pg symtoms!!

bluesatinsash · 25/10/2008 14:17

peacelily - just had a peek at your profile page and your DD is gorg! I'm also an NHS worker but a non clinical one (in HR).

I've left my profile page on my old regular - now jinxed - name (changed names after bowing out of April 09 ante-natal thread).

peacelily · 25/10/2008 14:25

thank you bluesatin stash for compliment and advice!

That's an old pic of dd she's a year older now (2) even cuter!

Sorry to hear about your jinx, so horrible for you, name chnage etc. is something I would do too! I'm a bit superstitious like that (bit crap for a CBT therapist).

I'm off out in 10 mins to get dads 70th B'Day pressie, don't know what tho! I have to walk past Boots so will scurry past it quickly and resist the urge. I'm trying to hold out til AF time but the waiting is torturous!

peacelily · 25/10/2008 14:28

have temporarily cured nausea by eating an apple.

VillageMum · 25/10/2008 17:53

bluesatinsash, ooooh, I am jealous of you ttc on the 5th, since we're sticking to our decision to wait this cycle out!
Really hope it works out for you! x

thegreatescape · 26/10/2008 22:50

Of course you should wait!

But... realistically I would have tested by now... I have the patience of a flea.

spats · 27/10/2008 19:40

hi peacelily and bluesatin, i am also NHS worker - biomedical scientist in haematology!! Haven't looked at any profile pages yet, too busy looking on internet for ovulation papers!!!
Any of you uing OPK? I have't got a pos this month and did last month so am thinkikng maybe i am not ovulating every month which will be v annoying xx

bluesatinsash · 27/10/2008 21:28

Hi spats - I know a few BMS's in fact one of them gave me a tour of the labs a couple of years ago!

I swear by OPK's. Used them to conceive DS and last pg and they were bang on BUT saying that I have had 2 positives since MC and no pg but I need to calm down to a panic and be patient..

I was re-reading my 'how to conceive naturally' book last night and it reiterates how small your window of opportunity is and how you have to nail your 48 hours fertile period. Most women think they ovulate around day 14 but some can be as early as day 9 or as late as day 20 depending on length of cycle. I always start testing on day 9 as have 27 day cycle. They do say your body can have months when it doesn't ovulate which is so unfair...

Anyone started Christmas shopping? All I want to Christmas is a BFP

spats · 28/10/2008 08:01

I am v sad and have started xmmas shop, only because wanted to get a wii for boys so thought would get early. BFP would be ideal i agree

I have now totally, logically thought (as a scientist does!!) about my predicament. I tested sat morning and some say OPK don't pick up in morning so my LH could have been really low or only just starting. Then didn't test again until about 8 on sun as we were away for weekend. Maybe i did miss it as that was over 24 hr period. Will use kit tonight and see and if no pos i am assuming either didn't ovulate or missed it. Will then have to wait for AF i guess and try not to stress. x

VillageMum · 28/10/2008 15:34

spats, bluesatin, I use OPKs (cheap lab ones bought from accessdiagnostics) and they work for me. I also do BBT charting (which sadly only tells you when you have ovulated, though, not when you're about to - the OPKs are the only way to know that!) After my mc these toys were all reassuring and it made me feel a whole lot better to see that I was ov'ing again...

I'm trying to avoid thinking of Christmas - I also want a BFP for it! I'd gladly spend Xmas in a state of total nausea.

VillageMum · 29/10/2008 13:22

Hi all, does anyone use a fertility monitor? Any recommendations? I'm thinking of alternatives to having to do BBT on these dark mornings...

bluesatinsash · 30/10/2008 13:53

Afternoon!

VillageMum Fertility monitor you say? What the Dickens does that look like? Tell me more!

So glad its Friday tomorrow, have had a low week. Just feel so much in limbo wondering if/when it will happen for us again. I feel I'm willing time on to my next fertile week. Need to get back to gym to release some endorphins!

spats · 30/10/2008 16:02

I HAVE JUST DONE ANOTHER OPK, BY CHANCE AND ITS POS TODAY. I AM CD19 WHICH MEANS I WONT OVULATE UNTIL CD20/CD21. HOW LATE IS THAT. GOOD JOB I DID IT AS THOUGHT I WASN'T OVULATING THIS MONTH. BD TONIGHT, HOPEFULLY.
