Oh, cece, am keeping my fingers crossed for you - wouldn't it be wonderful to get a bfp on here?

cece · 10/09/2008 19:38

I am 13 DPO and lately have been getting af on 11 DPO. So who knows. Will wait till nextweek to book my 8 week scan I think just in case. I can't face cancelling them all again.

jassara · 10/09/2008 19:54

Cece, test again on Friday and try and use a digital. As it has been said a million times on MN 'a line is a line' even if it's faint...

gem2mum · 10/09/2008 21:24

Hi there everyone. Just popped in to catch up on all your news. Tabitha, you are not the old lady of the group - I am!! Another August birthday mumsnetter. Just about hanging in there with the TTC although the fertility doc today told me that I had to be realistic and that it is unlikely that I will conceive now...
Still you never know

roquefortlover · 10/09/2008 22:14

rowingboat · 10/09/2008 22:19

rhetorician · 10/09/2008 22:59

Second Tab on Gem; nice to see the thread ticking along again.

xserialshopper · 11/09/2008 10:06

Hiya everyone.

Gem nice to see you back Remember Ladymac is preggi and she's 45

Cece I've got everything crossed for you

Well af has got me - 2 days early. I think I'll restart my clomid. I've got enough left for 2/3 cycles. I may as well use them up, though I hate how they make me hungrier and therefore I eat more

OP posts:
rowingboat · 11/09/2008 10:36

Hi Xserial AF got me too! I'm soooooo tireeeed! Thud!
Not that fussed, didn't expect it not to come. I don't know why I am bothering at all.
It's people like me that give the over forties a bad reputation. I'm dragging down the success rates on this thread. It's OK I am joking, but thank god for the IVF prospect.

xserialshopper · 11/09/2008 10:42

The thing is rowing is that it took me by surprise. I had no idea it was going to start Time to turn my CB fertility monitor back on me thinks

I've got a confession to make........

I've got 8 clearblue digital pregnancy tests upstairs in my draw plus the free one I got from Clearblue the other day So, yes, I have 9 digital pregnancy tests altogether.

Cece if you want one for free send me your address and I'll post it to you.

OP posts:
xserialshopper · 11/09/2008 10:43

I'm never tempted to use them by the way ........

OP posts:
roquefortlover · 11/09/2008 11:32

Sorry rowing and xserial - even if you've been expecting it it's always a pain when AF turns up .

xserial, I love my CB monitor - it really helps me keep track of things and I find it v reassuring knowing that we are at least doing the deed on the right days! Plus, given our advanced age I am not sure I'd be able to mange it every other day for the whole month - dh is looking a bit ragged round the edges after nearly a week

rowing, have you made any decisions yet about where you might go for the IVF?

BTW xserial I can't believe you can keep 9 pg tests in the house and not use them - you must have super willpower! I find I have to keep the house empty of them otherwise I can't resist. Having said that i do have my free CB here now but am going to try not to use until i am a week late (if I ever am...)

rowingboat · 11/09/2008 12:00

Xserial - you hoarder you!
Roque, I'm kind of leaning towards the clinic in Hungary, based upon the swift response. The problem is it hasn't been used by many UK people. I must ask when they set up.
The doctor there is published and seems very helpful, with great English.
Not feeling the best today, bit limp! I often feel like a lump the first day of AF, plus sinuses are making my head feel like a cotton bud. We are planning a walk, so will either come home in an ambulance or feeling much better.
'Every other day', the thought fills me with tiredness.

roquefortlover · 11/09/2008 12:05

Rowing, the Hungary one sounds good from what you say - interesting country to visit too i would imagine! I always feel rubbish first day of AF too - for me it takes the form of feeling vaguely spaced out and not quite "there' iyswim as well as the usual cramps of course. Are you self-medicating with chocolate - v effective I find.

Glad someone else finds the idea of every other day a bit of a challenge...

rowingboat · 11/09/2008 12:24

Roque, I think I have self-medicated enough for the next couple of months. It was my birthday on Sunday, so DP made me a very big chocolate cake with chocolate icing, on a chocolate plate (made the last bit up). Plus a large bar of chocolate and a box of M&S Swiss chocolates. Bleuch!
I ended up giving him most of the chocolate bar, I need stuff in my chocolate, nuts or something. I have colleague who considers this adulterated chocolate.
She watches in horror if I buy a picnic bar or something similar.

roquefortlover · 11/09/2008 12:27

You gave your chocolate away? Madness I tell you, madness!

rowingboat · 11/09/2008 12:50

I know, but I was feeling a bit Moby Dick!

KiwiKat · 11/09/2008 13:23

Have eaten two slices of cake today - two! - to punish myself for being greedy. Not much logic in that statement, I know. Went to see the doctor yesterday (never the same one twice in our clinic) and she was horrified when I waved my charts at her and told her that I thought I had low progesterone and was concerned about my temperatures being very low. (CD4 today, and the temps have been 96.5, 96.9, 97 and 97. That seems pretty low to me. Anyone else have such low temps?) She was quite affronted that I'd been reading up and asking questions about what might be going on - do they expect us to sit like potatoes and just wait for them to dole out their pearls of wisdom? Apparently so.

Humph.

cece · 11/09/2008 13:45

kiwikat - they must hate those charts being waved at them! Thye have only ever given them a cursory glance if that when I have printed mine off! LOL

xserial - that is very kind of you (and that you have so many) but I have my free one in a drawer upstairs!

Did a clearblue one today that shows the cross and again it was very faint. However, my little pot of wee was very bubbly this morning. Think the kids may have squirted some soap in it yesterday when they were 'cleaning' the bathroom for me. ROFL

daisy5 · 11/09/2008 14:35

Hello again cece - mmm - there's one to ponder - so you suspect external influences at work (soap and Viakil etc) - but surely they do not contain lutenising hormone!!!?? Or do they

...but I would think exactly the same thing - I'm sure of it

gem2mum · 11/09/2008 20:08

This thread is great, you all make me laugh so much!. Much better entertainment than anything on the tele. Thanks for missing me Rowing I have to confess that a major attack of despondency kept me away. We've decided to give up the clomid and let nature decide if it can squeeze out one last good egg or not.
Rowing it sounds like you are making good progress with your IVF research. Its exciting to make your own decisions without having to wait for the big old coggs of the NHS to grind slowly your way.
Sorry about the AF xserial and Cece that faint cross is looking hopeful in spite of the viakil!

rowingboat · 11/09/2008 21:40

Kiwi, has your GP offered you any tests to confirm your suspicion? Never mind if they don't like it, it's your body. Did you take Agnus Castus? I think you mentioned it last time you were on here.
I took it for 14 or 15 days last cycle and then forgot to take it after, not because I planned not to take it. It did make me feel a bit tired, so I might try to find a lower dosage, this one is 400mg.
Cece, how exciting it is at the moment.
Gem, of course we missed you. I'm sorry you have been feeling despondent, but you can always come on here for the chat.
I think my poor old DS has a bit of a bug and has been a bit sicky for the past couple of days, which might explain why I have been feeling queasy and giving away chocolate recently. He actually put himself to bed tonight - usually quite a busy little insomniac, just like mummy.

KiwiKat · 11/09/2008 22:14

Hi RB, I've been taking Agnus Castus for 6 weeks now, and it seems to have got my lp up from 9 to 15 days - yahoo!

The doc said I could go off for some blood tests, but when I asked about the baseline bloodtests you take on the 2nd or 3rd day of the cycle, had no idea what I was talking about, and told me to wait and do them all on the 21st day. I made sure I did them yesterday, and will do the other ones as she's suggested.

I hope this isn't TMI, but I'm a little concerned about AF, and would appreciate some advice. Before the birth of ds, AF would usually last 4 1/2 to 5 days, but since AF came back following his birth, each time AF has lasted 3 days, stopped for 2, then come back for another 2 days. I thought the Agnus Castus was getting this sorted, but this time AF has lasted only 2 1/2 days before disappearing, so I'm fairly confident it will make another appearance tomorrow or Saturday. Is this anything to do with low progesterone, or does anyone know what it might be connected with?

rowingboat · 12/09/2008 00:19

Hi Kiwi, I don't know about the AF thing, but the day 21 test is the one for progesterone. I think the day three is for FSH, thyroid and prolactin and something else. As far as I know it is pretty standard to do both.
Mind you, the GP I saw didn't have the faintest idea about the tests and told me I had nice high oestrogen on my day 21 result?
She was very helpful though and referred me to our local fertility clinic straight away. The clinic replied quite quickly with an appointment and requested that we had day three and day 21 tests and a sperm test. The nurse at the GP did the bloods and sent them away and I phoned the GP to see when they came back. The GP could only tell me everything was within the normal range, but the clinic went into ever so slightly more detail.
