I couldn't see that anyone's started a thread for September yet. Seeing as it's tomorrow thought I'd start one now. Seems AF arrived for a few of us at the same time so looks like we'll be in sync over the coming months.
How is everyone doing?

Having the period from hell. Is it possible that because my last period was really light and the cycle was only 17 days long so this period I am shedding extra? It is really heavy for me

I've had some really heavy periods this year too. And they're not always consistent like yours some months will be normal or lighter. The number of days varies too. I think in this case it's likely hormonal one way or another. Although it can also be fibroids or polyps.
Hope you're not feeling too rough.

@lornsausageyou sound like you’re taking a similar approach. 39 should be alright, I had my second relatively easily at 39, as did many of my friends 🤞

May I ask what your time limit is? My partner is aware he's getting older but we haven't discussed a limit or anything just yet so we shall see how we go! I'm quite excited!

january1244 · 24/10/2026 07:11

@lornsausageyes of course, we will be stopping in Spring. But it’s a different situation for us, as we’ve two together, and my partner is so-so on it so isn’t really isn’t keen for a bigger age gap. My youngest is 2.5 years so she’d be 3.5 years if it happens. I think the stats for my age are basically 50/50 within a year, I’m taking vitamins, but who knows 🤷‍♀️ at least we’ll have given it a go

Springcloud26 · 24/10/2026 09:34

@january1244 @lornsausage Hi, I’m 39 and trying for my first with my partner who is 40. Never tried before and we’ve been trying since January, conceived in May but early MMC July. 2nd cycle since, had my lh peak yesterday and timing dtd well!

I have been worried and wondering when I should start fertility investigations given my age. Had an initial conversation with gp last week for a referral, so waiting for that to come through, could be 3 months away so hoping it will happen naturally before. I’m taking omega 3 and coq10 as well as vit d and folic acid, anything else we could be doing to help?

january1244 · 24/10/2026 12:00

@Springcloud26 I’m so sorry, I know how deflating a MMC is. I had one before my first, and was worried too. But also saw it as a positive in that it showed my tubes were clear, I was ovulating, my partners sperm worked etc. Are some of your friends trying at the same time?

Maybe ubiquinol instead of coQ10, and a multivitamin with iron in. My friend who is a doctor said low iron can cause fertility problems, and you want it slightly higher than the NHS okay range for optimal fertility

Oh I should maybe investigate about taking something if it helps!

I think, according to NHS info 🤔 if you are our age a doctor can get the ball rolling for investigating anything after the 6 month mark (well this is what I was reading anyways!) When I was trying with my daughters dad we had to have been trying for 2 years (I was 33 at the time) to be seen and I was after 2 years and went through all the tests they gave and everything appeared fine. I didn't ovulate one month apparently but that was it.
I have a family holiday next July so we are having protected sex just now as its something I'm paying up and would actually have to pay alot to cancel! So next month we will officially track my cycle. I know our chances decline the older we get but it's great to hear it can happen! Excited!

Thank you. I had an ultrasound last month and nothing was on it so I’d be surprised if it was fibroids etc. I’ve felt so ill from it but luckily the dizziness and sickness is subsiding a little

Thank you, yes out of the sadness I was able to take it as a positive that I could conceive, which helped a lot. My friends had theirs earlier, and are now around 6-8 years old.

I will look into iron (mine is on the lower end of normal) and uniquinol!

Cycle 14 and I can feel AF gearing up for expected arrival tomorrow.
What an absolutely disgusting slap in the face. this is. Just done with it all now, at the point now where if it happens I won't even be excited because I'm just over all of it. Bad enough dealing with the health service for your own health needs let alone that of your unborn child.

cmg91 · 25/10/2026 20:39

Hi ladies.

I was part of a few of these threads earlier in the year (may/june) and I just wanted to share a little positive news.

After losing our twin boys in December 2025, I’ve just taken this test at 9dpo today! We were due to start some fertility medication this cycle but it’s looking hopeful that our rainbow is on the way 🌈

Never give up hope xxxx

So sorry AF is about to arrive again. Struggling with TTC is so awful. The hope/ reality/ crash cycle is so hard to cope with. It is truly shit.

january1244 · 26/10/2026 07:35

@cmg91 good luck! What amazing timing.

I’m 7ish dpo going by cm, and I forgot how much ttc sucks you back in. Trying to ignore it as best as I can

Latethirtysmum · 26/10/2026 09:03

Hi everyone,

After lurking for a few days I finally decided to post. Good luck to everyone in the thread I hope you get your BFPs.

We already have 3 children, 17, 7 and 5. Recently we decided we would try and see what happens. So here I am. Told myself I wouldn’t get obsessed we were just going to see if it does happen.

I am a little nervous to try again I’m nearly 37 and husband nearly 39. I’ve previously had 2 miscarriages. A twin pregnancy at 7 weeks and one at 12 weeks.

8DPO today, AF due on 1st Nov. Anyone else 8DPO?

Jacquesx · 26/10/2026 11:06

I tested early last cycle and didn’t like the uncertainty so I am going to wait until 15DPO!

I am upping my vitamin c intake during the TWW and I’ve started on beetroot juice - it tastes disgusting though, so not sure how I’m going to continue! 😂

I’ve been taking omega 3 and coq10 for a while now.

Thank you for the words of solidarity. I know you've been in it a while too. It can be really shit, it doesn't help that the disappointment is compounded by the usual hormone crash each month either, just makes it 10x worse!
