TTC for first baby thread !

Hello - I thought I’d start a TTC thread specifically for those of us who are trying for our first babies. I’ve joined other threads before but find it difficult connecting to others who may already have babies as I think ttc for your first is a whole other ball game as no other children and first time.

Any others? 🩷

GladDenimGoose · 19/11/2025 08:49

Congratulations @jw97 that's fantastic news!

Brunch123 · 19/11/2025 15:22

@jw97 so pleased for you!

jw97 · 19/11/2025 17:46

Thank you so much everyone, that’s so kind 🥹 fingers crossed for more BFP’s!!

When do you all test?

AF is due tomorrow. I don’t have my usual PMS symptoms however. My boobs are usually very sore the week before, but I’ve had minimal soreness. I’m wondering (and hoping) that the absence of my usual PMS symptoms could be good news.

wondering whether to test in the morning, or Sunday (if AF hasn’t arrived)…

It depends on what I have going on but usually the day before. Testing would be pretty decisive by then and I don’t want to spend the day of AF hoping it doesn’t come and then experiencing it arriving later.

I’m not sure what to do this time. I was hoping to wait until AF was late this time but I have evening plans 1 and 2 days before that now where people would be very surprised if I didn’t have a glass of wine. The plans are each with another couple so it would be hard to hide not drinking as well…

Does it have to be an early detection test to test the day before, or will a normal pregnancy test be okay?

Fingers crossed for you @PeonyPatchas you say hopefully the different symptoms or lack of is a good sign. I’m sure I’ve seen people comment on these threads that they were always having symptoms that came to nothing but then they’d had no symptoms at all when they get their bfp 🤞🤞

Hi everyone! DP and I just started trying this month. I have been using natural cycles to track my temperature but still getting used to having cycles, I was on the mirena coil for 8 years so had no periods in that time and I got it removed in August. I’m finding it quite lonely so far, we are youngish (mid 20s) and none of our friends have children so I don’t have anyone to talk to about this! I’m planning on trying ovulation testing next month to try and get a better idea of when I’m ovulating as I was a bit clueless this month 😅

So my cycles are all over the place, but I think AF should be due sometime next week. So if no sign by next Saturday I’ll take a test.

That said, I’ve been overanalysing every symptom, and I’m pretty sure I’m feeling PMS, so not feeling very positive for this cycle. Commiserating with a hot bath and large glass of wine tonight!

Fingers crossed for everyone else testing soon.

Hear you. I feel similar. Over analysing my symptoms (and googling!) not helpful I know. Really tempted to take a test now as found we have early detection ones, but decided to test in the morning as morning wee is strongest… 🤷‍♀️
Good luck to you over the coming week, look after yourself and report back. Glass of wine and a bath sounds lovely x

That’s exciting. Good luck for tomorrow morning.

I also found out from one of the other conception threads that you can get chat GPT to analysis symptoms to confirm if like to be period or pregnancy….off down the rabbit hole I go!

PeonyPatch · 22/11/2025 08:25

Tested this morning and got a BFN ☹️ feeling pretty deflated. We dtd a lot more this cycle. Back to the drawing board, and hopeful for good news in time for Christmas next cycle 🤞🏽

OP posts:

@PeonyPatch Sorry to hear about your BFN. I know what a mind screw it can be when you really think you might be positive one month but it’s turns out it’s negative. So annoying that symptoms can be so hard to decipher! Fingers crossed for the next cycle.

Thank you @Marvelftw I have really thought it was a bit different this cycle and was hopeful. I am feeling quite deflated and wondering if it’s possible I can get pregnant at all with the dreaded PCOS

cobalt123 · 22/11/2025 10:25

Really sorry to hear that @PeonyPatch. On to next month. I think you mentioned you’d had a fertility referral? Hope that helps to know that some help is not so far away now 🙁

Brunch123 · 22/11/2025 10:55

@PeonyPatch I am sorry to hear that! I can relate to you - after a while start to wonder if it’s even possible at all! As you say, hopefully it’s a BFP just in time for Christmas as that would be magical!

I’m going to wrap a baby blanket under the tree this year, even though I know it’s an old wives tale!

I did the same last year! Even if it is an old wives tales, it felt magical to me! I probably sound silly, but I don't care!

I wrapped 2 blankets (I'm gonna fess up, I am hoping for twins 😁, but it could be for a later child) , wrote a card telling my babies everything I feel for them, everything I hope for us, as if they were here. I kept the blankets wrapped and I amnplanning to open them either after I find out I am pregnant or for their birth, whenever that is. I'll keep the cards to give them when they are older.

Brunch123 · 22/11/2025 21:23

@Allmywishcometrue well we can sound silly together then!

You’re braver than me hoping for twins 🤣 would be amazing though, I hope you get your dream! Imagine how loved and special they would feel opening those letters in the future x

cobalt123 · 24/11/2025 11:06

How’s everyone getting on? 8dpo roughly for me and starting to go a bit crazy with the wait. Last couple of evenings I’ve been so bloated and last night I cried because my partner took some nice photos of the dog. 😂. Probably just being a bit of an over emotional loony but of course I’m like “ooo are these pregnancy symptoms??” 🙄

SleepySkyRat · 24/11/2025 14:24

@cobalt123 im also 8dpo today! Only managed to DTD on ovulation day due to general sickness. Trying to convince myself I’ll only test at 14dpo but reckon I’ll test at 12DPO because I have no self restraint. This is the first cycle where I actually tracked ovulation so theoretically should have a good chance, but not feeling particularly positive tbh. My only previous positive tests I had some symptoms but so far nothing out of the ordinary.
