TTC for first baby thread !

Hello - I thought I’d start a TTC thread specifically for those of us who are trying for our first babies. I’ve joined other threads before but find it difficult connecting to others who may already have babies as I think ttc for your first is a whole other ball game as no other children and first time.

Any others? 🩷

I did another test this morning. There’s still “something” there but if anything it’s a tiny be fainter.

@Em3009i don’t think I ovulated late as had ewcm on the right day and my cycle is pretty regular. Only varies by a day or so each month. The waiting game continues I guess. 🫣

Yes, welcome! I am mid 30s and I feel very similarly to you - you’re still very young and have plenty of time and appear to be at the start of your journey :) nice to meet you!

Hope it's ok to jump on the thread also. I am 38 - I guess I am late 30's which sounds a but depressing lol.. First time TTC, currently on cycle 3. I have learned a lot the last couple of cycles. I started off tracking ovulation using the LH strips and BBT but I did not get on with the strips so now I am just sticking with the BBT.

3 cycles in - I have a 25/26 day cycle and ovulate on CD11. This is the first cycle that I have DTD on the day of ovulation - the last 2 cycles it was either CD8 or CD10.

I am currently 2DPO - we had a break from trying last month because my husband was ill, but it actually gave me the opportunity to focus on my pms symptoms. I get very sore boobs, nausea and a heightened sense of smell as part of pms so I can't really rely on those as a pregnancy symptom lol

AF is due on 13th November. I may test at 10DPO - purely because I bought about a 100 pregnancy tests so may as well use them lol

Is anyone else on the two week wait?

Brunch123 · 31/10/2025 13:07

@thismonthsfad welcome! I found the same that my PMS symptoms are the same as potential pregnancy symptoms!
I hope this is the lucky cycle for you - do keep us all updated!

Thank you @Brunch123 are you in the TWW also?

GladDenimGoose · 31/10/2025 14:55

Hiya @thismonthsfad! I'm in my 3rd cycle too but only on day 8. I have shorter cycles like you - usually between 22 and 25 days. In my first cycle the tww seemed to last FOREVER but it flew by last month as I was busy. I don't know exactly when I ovulate but I think it's around cd10 - mostly a guess based off cm though!

Welcome!! Nice to have you here @thismonthsfad It’s really interesting what you learn about yourself, cycles and symptoms while on this journey isn’t it?! Love that you’ve stocked up on tests 🫶🏻
I find ovulation testing to be a pain, just another thing to remember and think about lol

I had the same thing during cycle 1, my cycle lasted 29 days which was soo confusing because I am never late so thought wowzas am I pregnant lol.. but then AF showed.
I am an early ovulater so literally finish my period then it's straight to business lol..
I haven't really tracked my cm but should really give this a try. I have found the BBT the most usual but it is a pain having to remember to do it every morning + not move at all until it's done.

cobalt123 · 01/11/2025 08:19

So I’ve havd vvvvvf lines on clear blue ultra early on 13dpo and 14dpo. My period was due yesterday and this morning at 15dpo there was still a vvvvvvvfl but really not any clearer at all. Starting to worry it’s a chemical 😕

Brunch123 · 01/11/2025 11:07

Well AF has started today so on to cycle 8!
Even though I said I would skip a cycle for a break I might have a light try just so I have a bit of hope without all the pressure!

Been looking at holidays this morning to give me something to look forward to!

Hows everyone else getting on xx

LibbyOTV · 01/11/2025 11:11

Hi @PeonyPatch and everyone - thanks for starting this thread!

Also TTC for my first, been trying for 8 months, recently had some tests which showed hormones out of range so just waiting for some NHS blood tests to confirm.

Utardelis · 01/11/2025 14:41

@cobalt123 sorry you are having a worrying time, have you tried another brand of tests?

Unfortunately clear blue are renowned for these faint evap lines. I would recommend getting a box of red dye cheapies off amazon if you are going to do early testing from my experience they are just as good

Hello, and welcome 👋 Good to have you here!
I had blood tests in Sept which showed by LH & FSH were abnormal range. Though I’m not sure what you do about that x

I’m out this month by the looks of things. Af just arrived. Pretty sure there was something but it didn’t continue. Oh well on to the next month

SunshineRose12 · 02/11/2025 19:18

I’ve lurked around on a few on these board, but think I’m ready to join - if you’ll have me!
Mid 30s, trying to conceive first baby. After how much we’re brainwashed as teenagers, I really assumed I’d just be one of the women that had sex once and would be pregnant.

I’m now into my 3rd month of trying, but technically only had 2 cycles, as stopping the pill seems to have sent my cycles haywire.

I promised myself I would be relaxed about the whole process and take what comes; funny how quickly that wears off when the months tick by!

Hellooo, a very warm welcome to the thread 😊
I completely relate - I was exactly the same. I didn’t think we’d have any issues as both healthy with no underlying health issues. But then I was diagnosed with PCOS! After turning 30 I noticed my periods started to change 😕
Wishing you both the best of luck and glad to be with you along the way!!

@SunshineRose12 I could have written your post - agree with everything you've said. It's comforting to know there are others out there at a similar stage in the journey and feeling the same

wandatotherescue · 02/11/2025 21:57

hi everyone! I’m 31 and on my second cycle ttc. Is anyone else trying after coil removal? Technically my first cycle immediately after my mirena coil removal and I didn’t fall pregnant which is not much of a surprise. Then had AF and think I’m 12 DPO now having tried twice around ovulation. Crossing my fingers for a BFP but not really expecting as didn’t do any ovulation testing! Will start to take more seriously for round 3 if unsuccessful this round.

PeonyPatch · 04/11/2025 07:40

How’s everyone doing? We have decided to try every 2 days for 2 weeks or so now hoping it straddles over my fertile window. It seems like such a lot and I don’t think I’m used to being this intimate, lol! I haven’t used my ovulation sticks yet and I’m thinking I might do from the new year once it’s less busy…. But we’ve quite a lot of social plans in December. Hope everyone’s well x

We've found it difficult to maintain the momentum this month. We're both busy at work and generally have a lot on but have managed to get down to it a couple of times over my fertile period. I think I'm on the cusp of the tww now so we will see

rrrrrreatt · 04/11/2025 12:20

I didn’t even know this conception board existed but I’d like to join! I’m 36 and on my third cycle of TTC but second of trying properly (1st was on honeymoon).

My sister, sister in law and cousin all had trouble conceiving so I feel quite anxious about if we’ll manage to have a baby. I had my bloods done last year and everything was fine but it’s hard not to worry.

I’m on day 17 of my cycle and feel really nauseous, I thought I might be sick in the supermarket this morning! I think it’s too early for symptoms though so it’s probably all in my mind.

jw97 · 04/11/2025 20:30

Second cycle of TTC here! Stopped taking the pill just after the wedding in June and my cycles seem to be back to normal now pretty much. First cycle was a bit of a half hearted attempt as I was busy with work and away and we didn’t really commit fully so not too surprising it didn’t happen. I’ve started doing ovulation tests this month though and it’s positive today!! So fingers crossed for a BFP in approx 2 weeks time 😬

SunshineRose12 · 05/11/2025 20:29

Just watching time pass here. Think I’m due to ovulate next weekend (although I really have no idea - but that’s my best guess). Counting down till we can try again.

Dreamt I’d had a baby last night and in the dream I was asking for her to be passed to me so I could cuddle her.

Would be nice if it was a premonition 🤣

PeonyPatch · 05/11/2025 22:48

Good luck to you both @jw97 and @SunshineRose12 We got this!

Welcome! Do you usually have symptoms like that, or could the nausea be linked to something else? It would be very unlikely to experience nausea that early on I think! But when do you plan to test? Wishing you luck on your ttc journey x

DH and I are back to trying this month, and we’ve upped the ante a bit - we are going to try every 2 days for 2 weeks until AF is due to maximise our chances of catching ovulation. I haven’t had this much sex since the beginning of our relationship 😂😂
