Don’t tell me this is positive? My second baby is only 5 months old…

This came up in the 3 minutes. I know sometimes clearblue tests can show false positives and this is so so faint. I feel sick. My pregnancy was so bad last time and I was in such a bad mental state. I’ve been on the pill but haven’t had my period.

It does look positive OP but good luck for tomorrow.

To everyone saying Irish twins is an offensive term - did you forget to add 'to me' after it? I'm from a big Irish family and we don't find it offensive at all. The question was also asked on r/Ireland on Reddit here https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/rmfneh/peoplefromirelanddoyoufindthetermirish/ and the consensus there was that it's not offensive.

Reminds me of being told using the word 'brainstorm' was offensive to people with epilepsy. I've asked many epileptics if it's offensive and the consensus there is that they're more offended some idiot is calling their condition a 'brainstorm'.

Edited to add in that I'm also an Irish twin. I was born in June and my sis was born the following May - we like being twins for a fortnight.

Edited

I also have Irish twins exactly down to the day and did it 4 times hahaha the term Irish twins is not offensive and people on these forums seem to always find ways to pick a fight or get offended when all they really need to do is move on.

I have a 4 children who are exactly 1 yr apart from the other by the date. Not sure how I managed. Mine are 21.08.10 , 27.08.09, 27.08.08, 28.08.07 then I have 2 younger kids who are also Irish twins who where born 01.06.14, 11.06.15

OP its hard to say with these clearblue tests as they are notorious for leaving behind lines even when negative. My advice is to wait a couple of days and retest and either way the test will get darker indicating a positive test or it will be negative or stay the same and you will know its false.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 21/10/2025 07:13

Also Irish and not remotely offended….

Me too.
We frequently use the term in Ireland and no offence is intended or taken.

Homegrownberries · 21/10/2025 09:57

I'd expect a stronger line at day 33 of a 28 day cycle if it's a positive.

Branleuse · 21/10/2025 10:17

I had irish twins too.
Youre very fertile after you have a baby.

rainbowbaby2 · 21/10/2025 10:25

Update with a pink dye test. Absolutely certain it’s negative. Hopefully now when my cycle starts again I’ll be able to track it properly. Will probably test again in a few days if I don’t get my period.

My goodness, I'm fascinated that some people have taken a supportive post towards OP, scrutinised one term that may be deemed derogatory by a minority whilst not even considering a response to what OP has asked/is worried about. IMHO it comes across as thoughtless.
Whilst I'm not Irish and have never been offended by the term, I fully understand the origins of the phrase and appreciate that some people could find it insulting therefore I apologise to those whom find the term offensive.
Now, back to the main point of being here...
How are you feeling OP? Hope you're ok.

Thank you. I just ignored it to be honest I don’t have the patience or the brain space to entertain any negativity. People will always find something to find offensive on these threads. Thank you for checking in. I’m ok, just felt all over the place and needed to see what other people thought.

@Yibbleyabble Irish twins is an offensive term.

honestly it’s not. I don’t know a single Irish person who is offended. Are you Irish? Are you offended?

It looks positive to me. Hope you’re ok z

Nopicturesallowed · 21/10/2025 10:36

The clear blue tests are notorious for giving a false positive when you are ovulating. I work in sexual health and see this quite a lot.
There has also been a proper study about the clear blue tests. You're better off using the cheaper 10 for a £1 type things you can pick up for an accurate test.

Phew, I know you said you would like another child but 5 months PP would be tough!!

I didn't get my period back until this month and my son is 14 months, but I am still breastfeeding, I know you said your formula which does have an impact. But boob or bottle it can take a long time for cycles to become regular again.

If you want to avoid chemical contraceptive I would use condoms until your next period. Then when you have a better idea of your cycle I would keep track of ovulation using the cheap sticks on amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F3IH58Y/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?pd_rd_i=B00F3IH58Y&pd_rd_w=zwoNX&content-id=amzn1.sym.7c2bff8e-4ce3-4cc7-b3f6-35ac6c74cf9b&pf_rd_p=7c2bff8e-4ce3-4cc7-b3f6-35ac6c74cf9b&pf_rd_r=YW794SDVKK6XE1PV9RAK&pd_rd_wg=YdGFV&pd_rd_r=c15384b9-da6d-4e5f-99f5-6c88dfa0fbdc&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw&th=1

I would test every single day at the same time for a full cycle to get a base/ understanding. Then I'd just test for about a week each cycle.

Good luck!!

To others - no I wouldn't recommend this method if you want to avoid pregnancy completely.

Update for you all. AF arrived last night. Never been so relieved.
Not that anyone is bothered considering the main topic of conversation here is about whether the term ‘Irish Twins’ is offensive or not.

OH I'm relieved for you.

LastcyclebeforeIVF · 22/10/2025 10:43

OP I'm pleased you got the results you wanted. If I was you and you don't want chemical contraception I would really recommend the copper coil. If and when you do want another baby you can remove it and there is no half life of a drugs you don't have to wait for it to be out your system. And if you don't want another baby you can leave it in for ten years and never have to think about it in that whole time.

Nidy · 22/10/2025 11:22

Yibbleyabble · 20/10/2025 20:54

It does look positive. I'm a mum to Irish twins and it was SO HARD in the beginning but it's more than paid off now they are 4 and 5 soon to be 5 and 6. I didn't enjoy much of either pregnancy and ended up with severe PND, anxiety, OCD in the beginning but sought help via meds and therapy. Motherhood is so hard. Sending hugs whatever outcome/decisions you need to make. X

Please do not use the term 'Irish Twins' ever

The OP has made it extremely clear that the derailing of this thread into arguing over this comment has left her feeling really unsupported.

OP if you don't come back I don't blame you but I hope you manage to get something sorted for next cycle.

Yes I’m Irish and yes I’m offended.

It’s interesting as I don’t see it as meaning offence at all. I’m also Irish, and think it sounds quite sweet. I’m not living in Ireland. But I recently asked my Irish fam (based on someone being outraged on mumsnet) and they laughed.

have you had it? If so, how have you found it? I’ve heard so so many bad stories and it’s put me off.

Good to hear your period arrived

Was just going to post that you probably wouldn't have ovulated for about 3 weeks at least after stopping the patch, so that s why your period was "late". You can now track your cycle, but as a Sexual Health Nurse who also works in termination services, I really don't recommend that as a contraceptive method. Great if you're trying to conceive, pretty useless as a contraceptive.
