This came up in the 3 minutes. I know sometimes clearblue tests can show false positives and this is so so faint. I feel sick. My pregnancy was so bad last time and I was in such a bad mental state. I’ve been on the pill but haven’t had my period.

have you had it? If so, how have you found it? I’ve heard so so many bad stories and it’s put me off.

I've had it, currently using the Mirena coil.

Copper coil was ok, made my periods a bit heavier and I personally much prefer my Mirena (& no periods!)

I find the insertion uncomfortable but bearable and it's pretty quick. I'd go to a Sexual Health clinic where they fit them regularly (fitted one today on a woman who said "have you done it already?" when I told her we were all done).

If you don't like it you can just ask for it to be removed.

Please do not use the term 'Irish Twins' ever

Are you Irish and living in Ireland?

Here in Ireland the term Irish Twins is in common usage and we don’t need you to be offended for us, thank you. 😂

Yes I had the copper coil for years. The insertion was pretty painful but I'm told it is worse when you haven't had a child before, it was still a manageable pain though! It was painless on the way out.

I did have slightly heavier periods whilst I was on it but even after it was out they stayed quite heavy and more crampy than before - I had it put in when I was pretty young (20) so I wonder how much of it it was just down to changing cycles anyway.

I also have Irish twins exactly down to the day and did it 4 times hahaha the term Irish twins is not offensive and people on these forums seem to always find ways to pick a fight or get offended when all they really need to do is move on.

I have a 4 children who are exactly 1 yr apart from the other by the date. Not sure how I managed. Mine are 21.08.10 , 27.08.09, 27.08.08, 28.08.07 then I have 2 younger kids who are also Irish twins who where born 01.06.14, 11.06.15

OP its hard to say with these clearblue tests as they are notorious for leaving behind lines even when negative. My advice is to wait a couple of days and retest and either way the test will get darker indicating a positive test or it will be negative or stay the same and you will know its false.

Derail, but genuinely interested. Do they mind having birthdays all at the same time? Do you get away with one party in August and another in June?

Phew OP!

Phew OP!

They have never complained about sharing birthdays. We dont do parties every year, they do gatherings now they are older but we do big parties on big birthdays. My 18yr old and 16yr only shared a big birthday this year and they chose to celebrate together which was nice. They invited 5 friends each out to a tavern for dinner, my 18yr old and her friends had a couple drinks and then took everyone out for cold rock icecream afterwards. So for the best part, parties are separated but yes we do something in june for each june child then stuff in august for the other 4.

Good to hear your period arrived

Was just going to post that you probably wouldn't have ovulated for about 3 weeks at least after stopping the patch, so that s why your period was "late". You can now track your cycle, but as a Sexual Health Nurse who also works in termination services, I really don't recommend that as a contraceptive method. Great if you're trying to conceive, pretty useless as a contraceptive.

Thank you! Interesting to hear as I wasn’t really given any information about the patch and coming off it etc. Will be a relief to be able to track it a bit more just know when to expect my period! Will definitely be using condoms from now on until I find an alternative that my body agrees with.
