Anyone else in the early stages of their TTC journey for baby #1?

Hi everyone,

We’re early into our TTC journey and are currently on cycle number 2 for our first baby. I’ve also never been pregnant before.

I’m currently on day 14 of my cycle but my cycles are around 25-27 days on average, so my Flo app predicted I’d ovulate on day 12 based off symptoms of ovulation from previous months which have been quite consistent. We dtd on day 7,8,10 and 11 and haven’t been able to do it again since due to clashing work schedules, mega long days and then being exhausted in our free time as a result, so I have no idea if we’ve done enough this cycle.

Either way, it would be nice to chat to others in the same boat who are also only just starting their TTC journey! :) I told myself this cycle I wouldn’t count down the days or symptom spot like I did last cycle, but it’s hard not to already!

Oh I'm also CD 7! How odd we're both same cycle and CD 😂 I've only just started getting to know my cycles and ovulation since around January, as before that had been on the pill or implant for about 15 years. But since being off contraception they've been 26-27 days. I'm using the Premom tests and app which has been relatively easy so far and I like how the app lets you track symptoms easily! How about you?

Yes fingers crossed for us both, keep me updated with how you're getting on 😊

We’re in sync 😂 I’m using the clearblue advanced digital tests this month and next month I’ll move to a different method if I’m not successful this month, as I can’t justify the cost every month on these! Also using the Flo app, so it’ll be interesting to see if my predicted ovulation date on that matches up with when I actually ovulate. Will do! Keep me updated too ☺️

I’ve learned more acronyms and paid more attention to my body in the last few months preparing to start trying then I have in my entire life. Makes me realize my mum might’ve been on to something when she told me to start paying attention to my cycle and how I felt around it when I was young.

I’m right there with you on the post-pill cycle lengths and one day off in the CD. On the bright side this means we can endure the TWW testing temptations together!! Plus it’s nice to have people to chat to. It seems silly now but not telling friends and family but having so many things on your mind is a challenge I hadn’t quite anticipated…

Second that about the TWW! We can all convince each other not to test too early 😂

Not silly at all, I think this is a very mentally demanding journey to be honest, because if you’re not thinking about the logistics of everything, you’re worrying about committing to future plans in case you get pregnant and can’t attend, or thinking about dietary changes, limiting stress, sleep etc. etc., all alongside everyday life admin. It’s sooo much more demanding than I ever expected it to be!

@PearOpal @BrightSide234 Hi ladies 👋🏼 here’s to another month of wild emotions! Looking forward to the company along the way xx

@Ivylilac are you using the easy @ home tests too?

I’m CD10 today and day 2 of flashing smiley on CB advanced. But E@H still low 0.36.

It’s my first month using CB but from reading online the advanced also detects estrogen as well as LH which is why I think E@H doesn’t seem to tie up at the moment… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just CB advanced digital for this cycle ☺️ yeah that makes sense, I think I read that as well that it tracks both.

Hi all, how’s everyone feeling?

I’ve still not tested 🙈 I’m scared to do it. My BBT has spiked to over 37 the last couple of days and I had cramping yesterday morning but AF hasn’t arrived yet. Due between today and Thursday (my cycle was messed up last month, so not really clear).
I just really can’t see this happening. It’s our first cycle so would be very unlikely. Plus other than a bit of cramping here and there, I have zero symptoms. I just feel like AF is imminent. Which is fine if so, i just want to to arrive if that’s the case!!

Ahh let us know when you do test!! Hoping for a BFP for you!

Wiennetta · 14/04/2025 17:23

Just checking in. How is everyone getting on? @SilverDrive did you test yet?

I’m 5DPO I think and will be trying my best not to symptom spot for the next week 😂 Currently feeling pretty good.

I got another low fertility result this morning on my CB test, so I’m in limbo at the moment waiting for some kind of progression! I’m only day 8 though of my cycle so can’t really expect too much yet. Although it has thrown me a bit as I was always convinced I ovulated very early based off my physical symptoms at this time each cycle, so it shows I’ve got it wrong so far. I really expected a flashing smiley this morning!

Are you going to wait for AF to test, or test earlier than that? Sending you lots of baby dust!

SilverDrive · 14/04/2025 21:06

Hi @Wiennetta @Ivylilac
i still haven’t tested 🙈 I’m almost certain it’s going to be a BFN so I’m just putting it off - I don’t want to see it! Haha.
My BBT has dropped slightly over the last couple of days, it’s gone from 37.15 to 36.8. Still above my pre ovulation baseline, but I’m expecting a further dip tomorrow. If it stays the same or increases, I’ll test tomorrow. If it drops, then I’m almost certain AF will be imminent so there’s no point in testing.
I have no symptoms other than tender boobs, but I always get that with AF anyway.

Ohhhh @Ivylilac, keep us updated with tomorrow’s ovulation testing and @Wiennetta with any symptoms!
Fingers crossed for amazing cycles!!

Ivylilac · 14/04/2025 21:15

@SilverDrive oohh keep us updated! You’re not out until AF officially arrives!!

I’m trying to figure out whether I’ve peaked or not! Using the easy@home tests and the most they’ve hit is 0.7… but it’s CD16 and now going back down so that must be the peak 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wiennetta · 14/04/2025 22:45

Ahh @SilverDrive good luck. Fingers crossed for you! Let us know how you get on!

mummm2 · 15/04/2025 03:29

@SilverDrive good luck! 🤞🏼

@LuellaBim still waiting for my peak this cycle too. Let us know how you get on. Last cycle LH was 0.75 CD16 evening then got my peak 1.08 the next morning

I feel like BBT tracking isn’t going so well.. I tried to set my watch up to track but it isn’t working. Couple mornings I’ve tried using the thermometer but I’ve had really disturbed sleep this week and not able to do it same time each morning so not sure if accurate

mummm2 · 15/04/2025 03:32

@PearOpal
@BrightSide234

How are you ? x

PearOpal · 15/04/2025 07:06

Hey @mummm2! All is well here. I’m toying with the idea of trying to start BBT but I’m also worried about being able to do so at the same time every day. I like the idea of having some idea but I’m trying to avoid OPKs for now. Has anyone else who BBTs noticed significant problems if their morning BBT vary with their schedule? Otherwise I’m also still waiting for EWCM to try and get a vague idea of my peak. I’m CD10 so expecting I’m nearing my peak this week although I won’t know for sure this cycle.

@SilverDrive sending baby dust! @LuellaB sounds like you’re definitely in the window even if the easy@homes weren’t quite as easy this goes around. Hopefully it all starts making more sense to all of us as we continue

Ivylilac · 15/04/2025 09:20

Flashing smiley this morning!! We haven’t managed to DTD yet though, as I didn’t feel well on Sunday and yesterday we both had really long days and were shattered, so hopefully I don’t go to a static smiley for a day or so to give us time! Does anyone know roughly how many days I’m likely to have before a static smiley, or is that an impossible question to answer? I’m CD9 now, so I’m assuming I’ll maybe ovulate around day 11/12?

@LuellaB I’m not sure, as I’m using the digital ones this month and haven’t used those ones yet. Have you had any other results this morning?

@PearOpal I haven’t bothered trying to do BBT, as my morning schedules are so erratic on a day to day basis, so I don’t think I’d ever get an accurate reading!

@mummm2 hope you get your peak soon!

Wiennetta · 15/04/2025 09:29

Hi @Ivylilac great you got the flashing smiley! How are you finding the tests?

I went from flashing to static the next day in my first cycle testing. Then I think you usually ovulate 24-36 hours after peak.

So if you’re like me I’d guess after your flashing smiley on CD9, see if you get solid on CD10 and then that would mean ovulation CD11 or 12.

It means you can try and DTD from today.

SilverDrive · 15/04/2025 09:43

Morning everyone, so my BBT rose again this morning to 37.01. I did a FRER though and it was a BFN.
I’m 12DPO today and the husband is going away for a couple of days. So my plan is that if AF hasn’t arrived by Friday morning, then I’ll test again as he’ll be home then. Like I say though, I really don’t think it’s happening.
It does mean my cycle length is similar to last months though and I’m wondering if that’s due to stress/overthinking. My previous 3 cycles were all 28/29 days so it’s quite a big jump.

I’m expecting my BBT to drop tomorrow ready for AF either tomorrow or Thursday.

@Ivylilac yay to the flashing smily! Are you going to start testing morning and evening now? Until you get the static?

@LuellaB ive read that some people don’t get over 1 and that .7 may be their peak. I guess you need to do it for a few months to be able to see if that’s the case though. Either way, if you know it’s around the right time then just DTD every other day.

Couchtattie · 15/04/2025 09:47

Hey can I join?

Had a chemical pregnancy this month and I’m still bleeding. It’s just like a slightly heavier period though and tailing off now.

Hoping I ovulate earlier this month 🤞 ordered more OPKs as the vanishing line made me realise how much I want this to work out ❤️

I’ve been off birth control since October and we started trying in Feb.

Couchtattie · 15/04/2025 09:54

I am a bit worried about low progesterone as my luteal phase is only 9/10 days and wondering if that’s why I had a chemical? Dr Google tells me they are fairly common though.

That’s really helpful thank you! I’m so new to this, I had a panic this morning thinking we’d already missed our best chances haha, but it sounds like we’ve still got time!

Yeah I’m really liking the tests actually, they’re so easy to use.

Which CD are you now? If your cycle is longer again this month there’s a chance your FRER was just too early to tell!

I don’t really know, do you think testing morning and evening is worth it if we just make sure we DTD every day now? What’s the benefit of doing that? If we DTD every evening for example this week, would it matter when my static smiley appeared? Sorry if that’s a stupid question, I’m so new to all this haha.

I think you’ve definitely got time! I saw some data suggesting that the highest chance of pregnancy is from DTD the day before ovulation. So if you DTD every day for the next few days (easier said than done haha!) I think you’ve got a good chance!

Couchtattie · 15/04/2025 10:29

@Ivylilac aw thank you and I’m feeling okay, just very determined this month to make sure I DTD on the right days so I’m in with a shot 🤞

I ordered more OPKs because I have no idea when I’ll ovulate after this.

Also joining as I am getting married in June, so hoping to try properly from June onwards - will be my first and have never been pregnant before. Tracking BBT and ovulation at the moment to get a good idea of what is going on, as I've been told in the past that I do have fertility problems (not great at 33 but what can you do!). I have very short cycles but ovulate very late, so it's a strange one to track but looks like I will be ovulating the week of the wedding - so might be a lucky one! Wishing you all so much good luck!
