I've never heard of this! I think it would make me very sad. I'm 36 next month and now just starting to worry that this will never happen. Perhaps I will put a cat blanket under the tree instead!

have you been ttc for a long time @CoolSummer89 ? Really hope 2025 is your year ❤️

I know some gynaes recommend it after 3 MC usually, but it’s so slow to get anywhere with GPs or consultants these days isn’t it!

I don’t think taking them for one cycle will hurt if you wanted to try it and see how you feel x

I know thats the thing its such a hassle trying to see anyone! Ive been tempted by all the instagram ads for this hertility thing has anyone else seen? Like a finger prick blood test through post and then they do all your hormones. But also know that might not be best way to go about it! As i said im so impatient and a planner i hate being out of control with this 🤣

CoolSummer89 · 11/12/2024 11:39

@Floralcat yup, 1 year of trying and no positive pregnancy tests. My DH has a 'normal' sperm count, but it's lower than ideal. We think it might be because he had an undescended testicle as a baby which wasn't resolved until he was going through puberty and apparently that can impact. So it could be a bit of that and just age in general. I had an accidental pregnancy when I was in my 20s so I stupidly just thought that I would get pregnant in a few months, but no luck so far. All my bloods so far have come back normal, and we've been referred to the fertility team at our local hospital now.

I know it depends so much on your GP but I found it very easy to request a hormone blood panel from mine. This way it will save £150 and you get the results a lot quicker, I had mine in the NHS app in 3 days.

We'll be starting to TTC for our first at the end of December (in less than two weeks in fact) so realistically this thread is probably the right one as we won't have a clue about positive/negatives for a while!

We got married a month ago, both very early 30s, but both with known issues that could affect fertility (endometriosis, adenomyosis, low testosterone currently supplemented, and dodgy sperm results...) so I don't really know what to expect!

I came off the pill about 3 weeks ago but haven't had a period (just a withdrawal bleed) so literally everything is up in the air.

I'm also terrified! (Excited! But terrified!)

Hello, CD1 here reporting for duty. I must have ovulated a day later than I thought last month as was expecting my period yesterday. Ovulation should be 23/24 this month, which is OK because we don't have relatives coming round until evening of 24th.
Husband has strict instructions to look after me during TWW, because I do think (unintentionally) he has been a bit neglectful. He can't moan that I get too obsessive when he leaves me to my own devices! I know men feel helpless during TTC but actually I think there are things they could and should do.

Welcome to the Jan thread ☺️ I do get what you mean… my DH thinks once the fertile window is over he’s done his job 😅 but then in the TWW we end up bickering because i’m hormonal and worried which just adds to the stress… none of it can be good for TTC!

I hope you’re looked after a bit more this month x

I completely get it, I was on the fence for ages about whether to get the blanket or not but I’m really trying to have a positive outlook and hoping it helps 🤞 a cat blanket is a great idea though, my cats are my adopted babies 😅

I’m the same as you and hate the unknown 😅 I’ve looked at hertility a lot and heard of positive stories on there… part of me wants to know if something’s wrong and part of me doesn’t which is the only reason I haven’t tried it yet!

MyGardenDaisies · 11/12/2024 12:24

@Kateb149 I saw that blanket thing on YouTube, a girl called Liana from Conor & Lina channel did it as she’s TTC 2nd after a miscarriage.

As we have had just 4 cycles I feel a bit too early for this, it did look very sad, I must say.

I’m on CD5, practically done with period, so now got food 9ish days of peace until fertile window. Not doing OPKs this month, so enjoying that too.

Im excited to have the testing done in month, I think that will be a good starting point for 2025 TTC - either give me reassurance that all is well and it’s just a matter of time, or will feel like we know what needs improving / changing , and there’s a plan.

Enjoy your 9 days of not thinking about TTC and hopefully not tracking means that feeling will continue on into the new year.

I have everything crossed for your tests 🤞 let us know how you get on. Hopefully it can put your mind at ease and you’ll know your time will come ☺️

Is anyone doing the old wive’s tale of wrapping up a baby blanket and putting it under the Christmas tree? I’ve ordered a baby blanket to try it, and trying to think positively that we’ll be pregnant/have a baby by next Christmas 🎄

I read about this recently and I'm tempted - might dig out one of DS's old blankets and wrap it, along with the Big Brother sweatshirt that I'm really hoping he'll get to wear one day.

I don't know what's up with me at the moment but I'm an absolute state - I've been mostly coping okay with trying and failing to conceive, but last AF's arrival just floored me and I've been a weepy mess for days and feeling utterly shit. I have a meet up this weekend where everyone other than me has had a second child in the past year (and at least one is pregnant again with a third!) and I'm secretly hoping for some medical emergency to befall me between now and then so I have a legitimate excuse not to have to go.

Halpmer · 11/12/2024 14:11

Hi all! Hope I'm okay to jump on the train. I'm out for December, AF arriving today/tomorrow (spotting already and lovely (depressing 😅) stark negatives on all tests I've done). On the plus side I'm due to ovulate in the first week of Jan so we can have fun over NY 😂😂

That’s a really nice idea, hopefully the wive’s tale works and your DS will be a big brother soon ❤️

Sorry to hear TTC has got you down. Honestly I think it’s so normal to feel like that sometimes, so don’t be hard on yourself. I definitely go through ups and downs with it, but it’s understandable to feel sad when it doesn’t happen and it is happening for people around you. Give yourself time to feel sad and look after yourself x

Lou98x · 11/12/2024 15:04

Posted this in the December thread by mistake but anyway!

Joining you over here as AF arrived this morning. Will be TTC over Christmas so just going to try and enjoy the festive season as best as I can! 🎄

Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 this is our month @MyGardenDaisies !

Matildahoney · 11/12/2024 15:09

Can I join please?
Just started to TTC #2. I'm in my fertile window now, ovulation tests have only come today so I've not done any yet. I know when we TTC #1 I'd ovulated by day 11 of a 31 day cycle so testing will be in Jan.

Kateb149 · 11/12/2024 18:40

Hi @Lou98x and @Matildahoney ☺️ the more the merrier!

Sorry AF arrived for you @Lou98x but at least your cycles seem to be a better length now 🤞 I agree it’ll be nice to enjoy the festive period and hopefully it will take our minds off the TTC stresses 😅 x

lilymay22 · 11/12/2024 19:07

Hi guys!! Wondering if I could join? I'm potentially 9/10dpo today, this month marks 1year of TTC baby #1 🩷

Lou98x · 11/12/2024 20:45

Thank you @Kateb149! Yes I’m hoping they’ve settled down a bit, they’ve been all over the place since baby no 1! 🩷

Hopefully we can keep our minds busy (until January at least 🫣)

Aprilsunnyday · 11/12/2024 21:20

Hi,

Would like to jump on this thread please! 😊

I thought I experienced so many symptoms while in tww earlier... But/and was stark white so here we are!! 😂

Expecting af to arrive any time soon, actually looking forward to not thinking too much about ttc in the coming days until when needed.
Ttc for no.2 at 42...left it late didn't we! 😅
Hoping for a rainbow baby 🌈 soon.
Good luck everyone! 🍀

Hey 👋 I had my coil out in May this year, but had already started having very light spotting at the time i’d have a normal period from around Nov last year.

Once it was removed I had a tiny bit of spotting which I guess was withdrawal bleeding and then had my next period bang on time to when my last one was before my coil was removed - so you might get your first period post mirena removal at the end of this month?

Good luck to you and lots of baby dust 🤞 some women fall pregnant as soon as mirena is removed but i’m on cycle 6 now, and finding it has taken a while for my periods to build back up to a normal level! I’ve been taking supplements since June and try to be healthy etc but know it just might take some time x

Well nothing’s happened so far, so I’m guessing it will be end of the month as I first thought!

Can’t quite believe I’m hoping to start all over again! Obviously it’d be amazing for everything to get back on track sooner rather than later, I’ve not got time to lose being older 😕

Matildahoney · 11/12/2024 21:39

@Aprilsunnyday I'm also 42, so you're not alone!

I didn't get my BFP with DS until I was 5 days late, any early tests came back negative despite me ovulating before day 11 of my cycle!

MyGardenDaisies · 11/12/2024 21:45

Welcome everyone! 🤗

thank you ladies for support, ill keep you updated x

Hi hi 👋!! Thanks!! Good to know and let's keep company :)

Oh wow that's not textbook at all, to get bfp five days after AF late!! I would be very confused by it! 😅

Marvelftw · 12/12/2024 05:58

Joining here as I came off the pill about 2 weeks ago in preparation to start TTC for my first with my partner. Have been on the pill pretty much since I was 18 (bad cramps!) so excited but also a bit nervous to be beginning this journey. Recently turned 35. It is my ovulation week so we are trying but also not wanting to put too much pressure on ourselves at this stage so I’m just tracking using an app currently.

EEB1989 · 12/12/2024 06:50

Hi, I’d like to join this thread.

@Marvelftw I’m also 35, I was on the pill for 17ish years, been off it around 2/3 years - using alternative contraception until now. We’ve decided this is the month we will try!

I’ll be O around 22/23rd, I track using the Clue app and it’s quite accurate for me. I’ve tested my LH in previous months and it’s been correct.

Patiently awaiting O week…
