Sorry to hear about all the CPs. My fingers are crossed for you all.
CD13 here, seem to have had a few high days but not peaking yet when I normally would. Hoping I’ll get a stronger line tomorrow but we’ll see. So easy to get obsessed with it!

SarahB88 · 28/12/2024 10:19

Think I’ve cracked it with the OPKs now! I’m testing at around 10am, had a bit of an increase on my stick today so that’s great! Also did a pregnancy test today to check it was negative after my CP started a week ago and thankfully it was so good to know there’s nothing of the pregnancy left there. Apparently that’s a concern in case some of it had implanted in my old section scar.

Thomsonetthompson · 28/12/2024 11:07

Sorry for everyone who had Christmas affected by a chemical. They're horrid.

I have a question which I'm hoping someone can explain better than Google! The day of the peak on an ovulation stick means ovulation is happening soon after. So is the day after the peak counted as ovulation day or 1DPO?

Trying to work out when to take my one test! NYE would be 11/12 DPO depending on when the TWW starts and then I'd know whether I can drink.

The day after the peak would count as ovulation day (although ovulation can happen up to 48 hours after the peak). So 2-3 days after the peak = 1dpo

Thank you @AmazeB ❤️

Glad to see things are going okay @SarahB88 and hope you get your peak soon @Miffy1994

Turns out, I was bang on with my prediction. The highest peak I've ever had this morning... and my husband isn't back until late tomorrow night. We've been pretty regular this week regardless of ovulation, so hopefully that will be enough. Can't remember if it was this thread I talked about how quick surges can be, but here's how fast mine happened this morning. Started at 10am and finished by 12pm!

SarahB88 · 28/12/2024 12:51

@KittyFantastica oh that’s really interesting, I suspect I have a quick surge too and that’s part of how I missed it last month so might try testing more than twice when it looks like it’s coming on. If your husband is back late tonight hopefully DTD tomorrow will hit ovulation bang on for you if it’s 24 hours after the LH surge.

MrsH26 · 28/12/2024 13:12

@KittyFantastica how do you pee so much?

I’m still impatient for ovulation to kick in post mirena. It’s so frustrating!

KittyFantastica · 28/12/2024 13:29

@SarahB88 Sadly, he's not back until late tomorrow night.

@MrsH26 I pretty much always have something to squeeze out. I struggle to hold for more than an hour or two, and I suspect I actually have a retention issue. When I went into extreme premature labour with my son at 19 weeks in September, there was almost 2 litres trapped inside my bladder :(. I'll likely need to learn to self catheterise in any future pregnancies to try and prevent it.

Wondergirl1111 · 28/12/2024 16:38

Thomsonetthompson · 27/12/2024 07:26

We're away the whole TWW and I purposefully only packed 1 test so I couldn't be testing every day and distracting from Christmas. Obviously regretting that now!

I love the care for your future self here! But also laughing that you're annoyed at your past self now! I would be the same!

This is really interesting! So does a quick surge mean there's only a small window that ovulation happens in? Are there downsides?

I peaked CD10 this month, we had it covered but seems like i ovulated early... Or that maybe I peaked again and missed the actual ovulation... #confused!

KittyFantastica · 28/12/2024 19:14

As far as I know, it's pretty normal. Something like 40% of people have rapid surges from my reading about it. I believe we ovulate just the same and it happens 24-36 hours after the peak of the surge. It just makes pinpointing the actual peak moment a bit more difficult if you can't sit there repeatedly testing (and peeing every 30 minutes!) on peak day!

ThisHangryTiger · 28/12/2024 19:48

Hi all, I've been a reader for a while but first time posting.

A little bit of background about me, been on the pill 22 years and came off in Nov. This is first time trying for #1 and I've just turned 39. Did my first withdrawal bleed and DH and I, decided the next month we'd not actively try but if it happened then it happened. Cycle seemed to last 31 days. Decided I'd start to check my OPK and now on CD14 but no surges yet. Prenom thinks it may occur CD17 which I think ties in with a 31 day cycle?

A bit of a question though, if you DTD every couple of days, does it matter if you miss the peak? Also has anyone had a loop biopsy? Did it effect labour or make it premature? I run a fair bit and read that I may need to give up on that closer to the time? Sorry for all the questions - all new and exciting but also lots of info out there which I had no idea about a month ago!

If you’re DTD every second day you’ll be covered. The month I conceived my daughter I’m pretty sure we only had sex 3 days before my ovulation because I’d been away with work but I also wasn’t tracking with OPKs so not 100% sure. I was very surprised I was pregnant that month, put it that way 😂

Sorry I can’t answer your other Qs but best of luck! I conceived on my second cycle after stopping the pill.

MyGardenDaisies · 28/12/2024 21:19

Hello!
I will be 6DPO tomorrow likely, so will be of course symptom analysing 😆 it’s gone quick this month with holidays

Hi, I had 31 day cycles when we conceived DS1, but I'd ovulated before day 11 of my cycle! That being said if you're DTD EOD then you should be fine.
I've had 4 loop procedures, only 3 prior to DS, he was 8 days early, I had fortnightly scans to measure my cervix length. I ended up with a EMCS as he didn't want to come out, gynaecologist has since said the cervix can also work in reverse as such making labour more difficult if you've had a loop.
Oh and I was 40 when we conceived.

Snap 😅 i’ll be 6DPO tomorrow too. It’s definitely helped having the holidays… I feel like I haven’t analysed my symptoms very much so far. How are you feeling?

It’s my birthday tomorrow so that should help me forget about implantation a little bit longer🤞

MyGardenDaisies · 28/12/2024 23:38

@Kateb149 oh how exciting happy birthday for tomorrow! Xx

I am feeling well, nothing to report really. Sluggish after all the Christmas and holiday indulgences 😅 how are you? X

Context: TTC For 2 years, 37yo both reproductively heathy and under fertility clinic consultant

Ladies, I am tired of TTC and don’t know if I can cope with the constant disappointment.

I have had a terrible year between being in a car crash, multiple new diagnosis’ with autoimmune diseases (don’t affect fertility) and stress at work.

But most of all, the pain and cycle of grief every month when I realised my body has failed me and my husband again.

I am really tired. How do you find hope and perseverance with TTC? Everyone around me is pregnant and having babies and I just keep failing…

Thank you and thank you @CoolSummer89 and @Matildahoney too ☺️ birthdays in your 30s aren’t quite as eventful but I was happy with my tea in bed and gifts this morning!

Haha i’m pretty much the same, just feeling sluggish. I woke up in the night feeling nauseous, but I know it’s too early to put that down to anything! Xx

SarahB88 · 29/12/2024 10:27

Happy birthday @Kateb149 what DPO are you? Hope you have a lovely stress free day and don’t feel unwell (unless it’s v early pregnancy related ofc!)

CoolSummer89 · 29/12/2024 11:01

Hi @PeaceBeStill sorry to read that you have had such a difficult year. I am a year behind you in the fact that I have been trying for a year and I'm 36 in a few weeks.
So I don't feel like I am perhaps qualified to give advice as who knows how I will feel in a year's time. Also it's very easy to give advice but it's never as simple to take it, when emotions and disappointment are running high.
I think I would suggest three things, while acknowledging that sometimes it's just a bit crap.

  1. Focus on the positives. I know that this is particularly tricky as you have had a shocker of a year. For me my positives are that I feel like my life is stable enough to bring a child into the world. My relationship is stable, my housing and finances are stable, I'm healthy etc. This is all true and continues to be true without a child, and I feel very fortunate.
  2. Have other goals. For you this might be healing from the effects of the crash, or managing your autoimmune disease, or a work goal or taking up a hobby. Have TTC just be one thing of an array of things that you are working towards, so you can have progress/successes in other areas.
  3. Feel all the feelings, and ride the highs and lows of your cycle. Allow yourself to be excited during the fertile window. Hopeful in the TWW and mourn when it's 13dpo and the pregnancy test is negative. Hope 2025 is better for you in many many ways.
ThatSnugSwan · 29/12/2024 13:44

Think I may have got my peak early on a opk strip test. Cd12 so wasnt expecting it this early, we dtd cd8, cd9 and cd12 (this morning) we will again tomorrow cd13 and cd14. Just hoping that because its early this cycle it's not something to worry about
