Hi lovely ladies, just looking for some positive stories of going to CRP clinic ? My back story I have had a chemical then a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks ( baby stopped growing at 6 weeks) then another chemical. I went to CRP clinic three weeks ago and spent £3,300 on tests, everything came back normal apart from the Cytoxicity NK cells (activation of Nk Cells in pregnancy state) normal is below 20 percent and mine are at 26 percent. I suppose I’m just concerned is this really the reason for my 3 loses ?! I hope it is and that the treatment plan can be successful ! He’s put me on superovulation, infusion before ovulation then prednisone and infusion then test. Also taking viagra to help with the lining. I’m having this month off as partner is away so starting next month. I’m so worried about the steroids. Also I’m hoping he will be able to help with my lining. Does anyone know what he will do if my lining is thin on scan day? My last clinic I was at did nothing. No wonder it wasn’t successful. CRP seem great so far just expensive !!! Any comments and replies are so so welcomed

Hi Meg310532, I have had exactly the same as you but not in the same order. I am also starting to go down the private route, although with a different consultant. May I ask what superovulation infusion is? Not one I've heard of. Re the prednisone, I havent been on it myself, yet! However, I think doctors who use it for immune issues in pregnancy are pretty expert on dosing, etc. I believe side effects vary from person to person with the most common one being difficulty sleeping. What I wouldn't do is Google it and read all the negatives about it because I have read the outcomes of ladies sho have had successful pregnancies after being on it and none of them seem to have had issues with bad side effects or babies with problems.
Nothing is perfect in this world, unfortunately and I guess we have to weigh the benefits against the other side. For me, if I am told I need it, which I suspect I might be, then I wint hesitate to take it.
I hope you have success x

Hello @Objectiontime superovulation is another word for ovulation induction, it’s when you don’t ovulate regularly they give you letrozole days 2-7 to take which encourages more than one follicle to grow and then you trigger shot (injection) when you have 2-3 dominant follicles and then you ovulate 24 hours later so timed intercourse. Do you struggle with late ovulation or not ovulating sometimes, they would only really recommend it if you struggle to get pregnant or have a problem with ovulation. Infusions are intrapalid infusions the give you pre and post ovulation and then every two weeks if pregnant it’s to flush out toxins ! Do they think that it’s NK cells the problem with your miscarriages ? Xxxx

Thank you for the info. We are about to have our first consultation so not sure what the issue is/are yet but I have always suspected immune issues or similar. I am celiac, which I have well under control so this would not normally be an issue but I also have multiple allergies so I think my body reacts negatively to a lot of things, possibly including reacting to/rejecting my embryos. Hoping we can find out the exact reason soon. I ovulate pretty regularly but I have a strong feeling that I am likely to need pred when I am next pregnant and have therefore researched it a lot. Hope things go well for you x

Have You heard of the trial in Warwick hospital about inflammation in the lining of the womb? I’m only asking as after reading about that I bought the antibiotics online and for me it worked. We had decided to give it a go before we went to dr s and after 4 recurrent miscarriages that’s what worked for us. All my other tests on nhs came back as normal. I have heard of a lot of women going to dr S and having their rainbow baby however. I’m just wondering too, do you get pregnant “easily”? we were “diagnosed” with hyper fertility- personally I belive it’s a load of crap and was just a way of saying we don’t know what’s wrong just keep trying and it’ll happen. I’m so sorry for your losses & wish you all the luck xx

thehurtingheart · 29/10/2024 23:20

Went to CRP, was very happy with whole experience. After 4 mcs my daughter is sleeping beside me now. I didn't experience any bad side effects of the steroids or intralipids... I was a bit wired at bedtime sometimes and did get a round puffy face.. also my pregnancy nausea that I'd experienced previously was masked in this pregnancy I think because of the steroids which you could say was a blessing but made me super anxious! But all in all -- worth it!!

Meg310532 · 30/10/2024 07:33

Hi @Sal80 thanks so much for the info … what antibiotics were they? Are they something I could go to my doctors and ask for ?? Amazing that worked for you. I haven’t ever heard of hyper fertility ?!

@thehurtingheart thank you so much for the positive experience comments ! Amazing it worked for you. did it work first time with him?

@Objectiontime please let me know how your consultation and results! Fingers crossed they find something they can treat. No one wants to hear there is nothing wrong do they x

This is the antibiotics, you can buy them from Superdrug online if you have chlamydia 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I lied & said I did. Then lied again and said my husband had it too. I took them for 2 weeks from CD1 one in the morning and 1 in the night x

thehurtingheart · 30/10/2024 07:48

@Meg310532 it was our first pregnancy with him, second cycle. We didn't do super ovulation or anything though as getting pregnant was never an issue. We also only started intralipids on positive test as we had to travel so wasnt feasible to do them on ovulation.

Corksoles · 30/10/2024 07:53

I'm just putting the opposite case. I had the same pattern of miscarriage but also hadn't got pregnant as easily. So at my IVF clinic was recommended steroids for killer cells. I didn't take it. I got and stayed pregnant. I now am deeply sceptical about some of the immune treatment. There's no decent evidence for it.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 30/10/2024 08:34

I’m 28 weeks with my 16th pregnancy after the first 15 all ended by 6 weeks. This is the first pregnancy I’ve had on Prof Shehata’s protocol and I fully credit the immunes treatment for the robust little boy currently kicking me in the innards. All worth it.

Meg310532 · 30/10/2024 10:52

@Wednesdaysotherchild this is amazing !!! What did he find was wrong with you ? Was it the NK cells too?? Thank you for the positive news, really need to have confidence in this … manifest manifest manifest haha!

@Sal80 omg this is amazing thank you so much for the advice I’m definitely going to get them and do it - did you have to ask for a certain mg? I wonder if they can be taken at same time as prednisone x

@Meg310532 hi, yes I had raised NK levels and raised activity too. It was worth it for us to try everything.

Really very happy with our consultation with Dr Thum, he was very thorough in reading all the information we had given him re our loss history and indeed our thoughts on what we suspect could be causing issues, we had tests based our loss history and mymedical history. He was pretty sure he would find one of them to show an issue, tests included full NK cell assay. He said, if not then there a couple of other tests he will do but he doesnt want us to spend money unnecessarily and so will see what these results show first. Really nice man and felt completely comfortable with working through this with him. I felt really positive and hopeful when I came out. Will let you know if anything is found,

Rainbowchaser87 · 07/11/2024 00:45

@Meg310532 just came across ur thread. In a similar boat. 3 miscarriages (2MMC and1 blighted ovum).
About to start complex protocol with Shehata in a week or so…have u started ur treatment? How are u feeling so far? Hope u are feeling well ❤️

Rainbowchaser87 · 07/11/2024 00:47

@Wednesdaysotherchild I am so so so so happy for u!!!!! ❤️🙏🏽

Meg310532 · 07/11/2024 07:57

Hi @Rainbowchaser87 - hope you are okay? What did your results show ? … I wanted to start this month however husband is away so we are going to start it next month. I think my first day of my cycle will be 25th November so I will start the letrozole then and then go and have a scan on day 10 and also the intrapalid. We will be going through it similar times I think ❤️❤️ are you feeling positive about it all? Xx

OP posts:
Rainbowchaser87 · 07/11/2024 21:25

Hi@Meg310532 my results were showing high NK cells reaction once pregnant and therefore the chance to attack my pregnancy (like you) and I am starting the treatment next week (day 11) with intralipids then with steroids and progesterone during ovulation. No Letrozole in my treatment.
I feel many things…excitement, fear, hope…u know what I mean!?!?!
how are you holding up? Xx

Meg310532 · 07/11/2024 21:35

@Rainbowchaser87 i feel exactly the same, I feel excited to start and also feel like it’s been such a nice few months break mentally not being able to try to get pregnant due to all the testing etc so I feel like it’s a fresh start and feel so ready to move forward and try and get my baby !! I did go through a few days feeling sceptical about it all thinking is this really the reason for my miscarriages and will it definitely work. But I’m willing to try anything and it seems to have worked for so many people hasn’t it ! The money is a lot though isnt it ! Do you have to travel far ? Xxx

OP posts:
Rainbowchaser87 · 07/11/2024 23:25

@Meg310532 Agree!! So many stories with happy endings! And ours will be adding up to the list! 🙏🏽
I am less than an hour away…how about you? Xx

Meg310532 · 08/11/2024 07:18

@Rainbowchaser87 that makes it so much easier being so close. I live about 2 hours but we stay at my husbands parents house in Danbury when we have to go there so it’s only an hour and 15 to get there and back . If we fall pregnant am I right in thinking it’s an infusion (£380) and a scan (£250) every two weeks till 16 weeks? X

OP posts:
Rainbowchaser87 · 10/11/2024 20:39

@Meg310532 hi 👋🏽 I am sure adding the travelling doesn’t make it easier! Sorry about that!
i am not sure 100% re the costs yet but it seems pretty right to me what u said xxx

Objectiontime · 10/11/2024 22:54

Not sure why you would need a scan every two weeks at stg250 a pop. Seems a bit overkill if I'm honest. I will be the first to admit that I am massively scan phobic after my MMC discovery and i guess it's good to see how things are going but that seems a bit more often than i would be willing/able to afford financially. I'm not with DRPr S but would be interested in why so many scans.

Rainbowchaser87 · 12/11/2024 20:44

@Objectiontime I was scanned every 2 weeks by NHS too after my second miscarriage…they might have reasons…I understand though that financially can be challenging xx

Ooh that's interesting. Yes, I guess they must have reasons.

Objectiontime · 14/11/2024 13:16

Got the results back, basically high for everything they tested, including NK cells. Got to be on 25g daily of prednisone and some other tablet to protect stomach lining and have the intrippilid infusions once in each trimester next time I conceive. That’s a pretty high steroid dose but the other option was four IVIG injections at £2,000 each so we are going with the steroid and infusion option, which will be around £2100 per pregnancy but will be worth it if it sticks.
I’m concerned about my lack of immune system with the steroids as I work in a very people based environment and have no choice in that. But doc reckons either treatment should work as well as the other and I don’t have the sort of cash required for either so it will be another loan!
