Hi there,

I am taking Clexane at the moment, once I've administered a dose in my stomach I press the top to close the needle and a little squirt comes out, is this bad? Does it mean I'm not getting the full dosage? Not sure why it happens, please can someone shed some light. Many thanks.

Hey, I'm okay thanks. How are you? I'm not taking clexane at the moment but I did read on here that some women get bumps afterwards so it seems pretty common.

That's good to know. I was wondering if I was having a reaction, it doesn't seem like I am anyway, it's only when I poke the spot a day or two later.

Lemonbalm8 · 03/07/2024 12:10

I'm a mess today. I have had only 2 days of symptoms, on week 5+1 and dpo 9. Today I'm week 6+0. I honestly can't see how this will be ok...

I've read that you can inject into your thigh but please check with your doctor first.

Are you able to go for a scan at your local early pregnancy unit? This will put your mind at rest for a bit. I've learnt that we just can't control things, whatever is going on inside us is unknown and out of our control. It's not easy though so you have my sympathies. I felt like you at 6 weeks too, it's a horrible, horrible feeling.

I've had a horrible flu/cold so feel awful. I'm not sure if I have nausea or whether it's because I'm ill!

I also feel like I might have nausea but I'm fairly sure in my case it's anxiety. Sorry to hear about the cold/flu, any chance it could be COVID? Hope the symptoms ease up, weather changes in the UK are not for me.
I'm 6+0 today. I think I'll start expecting heartbeat. If there is no heartbeat and I'm in the grey zone waiting for another scan, I'm afraid I'll breakdown. My scan is at 7 weeks. I just don't understand why I don't have symptoms. Have you ever done HCG tests? I wonder if they might help me. I don't know, I just can't understand how not having any symptoms can lead to a good outcome when I've had 3 losses and 1 success each with some symptoms. I've read so many horror stories.

Yes, weather changes really affect me, I get colds easily sometimes. This one is more like a flu but I'm on the mend now, I've not bothered to do a covid test, I don't think I even have any.

If you can try to stop googling it might help, I've stopped and feel much better. Easier said than done i know. If you can make it another week emotionally then that's better for you. I've not done HCG tests, are they measuring the hormone levels? My clinic is sometimes rubbish and said there's no need so I didn't bother. There are other things they won't agree with which is pissing me off a bit.

In terms of symptoms it might just be too early, and then some women sail through it with little or no symptoms. Do you have any food aversions?

Which clinic are you with?

No food aversions. I had this one day when I was completely exhausted and had a lot of joint pain and body ache (almost like really bad flu), and then that was it.

I am with kings.

I have some good news this morning. I went to get clexane and progesterone from epu, because my gp is not agreeing to prescribe progesterone, and they scanned me. All looks ok for now 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Peaches1407 · 05/07/2024 16:03

Ah that's brilliant, are you feeling better?

I went for my 7 week scan yesterday and all looked good. I'm still quite nervous but feeling better than last couple of weeks.

Why won't the doctor prescribe Progesterone? I just went to Asda to get mine and they were very disorganised and difficult, I might complain as it was really stressing me out, i won't be going back there. I'm back on the Clexane too 😪

Yes feeling better thankfully.
So glad your scan went well too. Are you doing weekly scans? I am going back in 2 weeks, as EPU next does 8 weeks. For today I'm ok, but surely I'll be nervous soon.
My GP is very stingy, she thinks that if I have progesterone, someone else who needs it might not get it, I'm exaggerating but honestly she wouldn't prescribe it saying she doesn't know the right dose and that there is limited supply, that she needs to be careful etc. But thankfully I got 3 months worth of supply of clexane and 1 months progesterone from epu, so now I can go back in 2 weeks for my scan and hopefully get another month of progesterone. Waiting at pharmacy was not easy either, took me about 1 hour to get the medicine. But I can't complain, I'm so happy. I started food aversions this morning as well. Can't quite believe to get my first symptom middle of week 6.

Lemonbalm8 · 05/07/2024 16:13

I want to do weekly scans! Would EPU do that? I haven't heard from the midwife yet, I'm in London and have registered with the Whittington.

Glad you got all your meds, I've had a stressful day getting them, the pharmacy won't accept electronic prescriptions anymore. I've got to go into central to get the paper version so that I can try and get the cyclogest and clexane. It's stressed me out no end today.

No, EPU would do 8 weeks scan and then maybe 10 weeks before the 12 week scan by fetal medicine. 10 weeks is still unsure because they would likely only do if I'm still spotting, I didn't quite understand.
But I think if I get that far, I'll do nipt that comes with a scan in central London.
Hope you manage to get the meds soon and have a good calm weekend. We deserve to rest a bit. My work is suffering so much, I think I gotta come up with a plan to catch up next week. I couldn't think of anything but pregnancy this week, and that's fine.
Which clinic are you with? I'm at kings all through, and they've been good so far but honestly everything is work, I need to nudge to get things along...

I'm really ill informed about all this! I just had to Google NIPT! Do you think I would need that if my donor egg is from a 25 year old? Thanks for the info about EPU, I might call them and see if I can come in next week.

We definitely need some rest, you think you're relieved and then another stress comes along! Don't worry about work, you'll be much more focused next week.

I'm with London Women's Clinic because they have the egg bank. They are all lovely but I've not really seen my consultant at all, not sure if that's normal.

NIPT is quite pricey but if that's ok for you, it might be worth doing it for the extra reassurance. NHS would only do it if there are issues in 12 week scan, and they would do this at 16 weeks or so, but they use less accurate test than private ones. So overall, I think it's worth it, though if the embryo was PGT-A tested, that is reassurance enough?
It's also all info I didn't know, I was just told this because my pregnancy is high risk...
I don't think you need to see your consultant much, hopefully we can get to 12 weeks and we will be back in the NHS system anyway, at that point it wouldn't matter. Fingers crossed for us no more stress or surprises.

My embryos aren't tested. I will look into NIPT, praying I get that far.

I also hope this all goes okay for us both.

Have a lovely weekend and try to de stress. I need to make that my main focus!!

@Peaches1407 hi! How are you? I had a scare last weekend where I was bleeding, they found a hematoma and said hopefully it will reabsorb, but continue on aspirin and clexane and only stop if heavy bleeding. It's been a very stressful weekend. Hope things are going ok. I wanted to check with you if you're taking anything else on top of clexane, aspirin and progesterone. I was meant to get immune tests done in August, still haven't cancelled but I think I'll cancel a week ahead. This is something I wondered if it caused my MCs, to have high inflammation and immunuty, but I'm not taking any meds for that now.

Hi there! Sorry to hear about the bleed, I had the same and I've pretty much put myself on pelvic rest. I've been going for walks but that causes spotting too! Don't worry too much, just try and rest whenever you can. Go to EPU to get it measure every couple of weeks, I'm going to try and do that too.

I'm on the drugs you mentioned plus progvnova, not sure why, I'd like to stop that but will wait until they say.

I have never had immune testing, do you have any auto immune issues? Wait and see and then cancel the appt, some clinics don't even believe it immune issues in pregnancy but I do think the treatments help women.

I think it's a little late for immune drugs now, but hopefully I'll never need them!

Yes I've been spotting for a week now with a bleed on the weekend with clots. The scariest weekend I've ever had. I had the same with my son at exact same time at 7+2 though, and it last couple of weeks, so I'm keeping everything crossed it's ok. I worry every single day though 🥺

Are you still taking all the meds? I did wonder about clexane and aspirin, the doctor said that these are likely to cause a hematoma but told me to stay on as I have blood clotting condition. Did they ever find a hematoma or such for you?

Oh no, it really is scary. I've had two mini bleeds and have been spotting on and off for 3 weeks. Hopefully it calms down for both of us.

I just called the EPU and they tried to deter me from coming into the walk in clinic and denied that I have a haematoma! I told them my clinic has the measurements of the haematoma! They just seem so unbothered even though I'm on aspirin and clexane. I'm really disappointed, this is why we are so scared and losing sleep!

In terms of small lump, not my experience, but there is no normal in pregnancy. It could be milk ducts or it could be something else. I think a scan would reveal, you might want to talk to your gp as well, as IVF clinic may not be in position to help you to test. Don't worry too much.

Do you do a walk in or do they allow you to book an appt? The last time I went was when I was 6 weeks. I'm 9 weeks today and will go forna scan tomorrow. If they kick up a fuss then I'll pay for one at my clinic.

I'll see what this lump does over the weekend and then call the doctor.

Mine is booked at the appt for next time. It's not walk in and it is also not booked by me, I kind of have to say why I need a scan and for me it was spotting but also I'm taken care more of due to recurrent miscarriages.
