Clexane Drop Wastage

Hi there,

I am taking Clexane at the moment, once I've administered a dose in my stomach I press the top to close the needle and a little squirt comes out, is this bad? Does it mean I'm not getting the full dosage? Not sure why it happens, please can someone shed some light. Many thanks.

I've had a bit of bleeding overnight, I'm not sure what to even do. I'm only 5 weeks 4 days or thereabouts. Should I call EPU? I have a scan with my private clinic at 7 weeks. I'm scared now 😢

@Peaches1407 oh I'm sorry. Try to get a scan today with epu. If they don't agree then private clinic

Lemonbalm8 · 24/06/2024 09:12

@Peaches1407 at this stage they will likely only find a sac which is hopefully in the right place. Hopefully they also can see where the bleed is coming from. Yolk, fetal pole, heartbeat may not be there, so don't expect it.
I'm in london. A private clinic here did tell me to stop clexane for few days if bleeding, you might want to ask your clinic.
How are you?

Thanks for this, yes I've heard something like this. I think I can wait for a scan but the spotting made me anxious. My bleed was quite minor at 2am and now it's brown spotting. I've started doing the pessary rectally in case that's the issue. I'll email my clinic and also call my doctor. Thank you for the advice xx

EPU just said if I'm in pain or the bleeding gets worse then I need to go to A&E so I'll just see how get on today.

Hopefully it's just the pessaries. I've been doing most in the back since my spotting. It's the most worrying time, hope the clinic can provide some earlier reassurance.

Sorry, can I ask you one more question, it'd a bit tmi so apologies in advance.

When I insert through the back passage my finger only goes in to just about the first joint, is that okay and normal?!! Is there a certain position I need to be in?

No tmi for me! It's exactly same for me, I don't think I can do better than that 😂 also it is causing some loose stools potentially, I've read that as long as it's not within the first 30 min, it should be ok.

Lemonbalm8 · 24/06/2024 15:49

@Peaches1407 how's spotting? Did the clinic get back?
Do you have any recommendations for trashy tv? I can't focus these days

It's stopped for now thank god. The clinic said it might be the pessaries or a subchorionic haematoma! They said the same as the hospital, to go to A&E if the bleeding gets worse. I don't have any nausea yet or get mild cramps from time to time.

Trashy TV: the housewives (I'm watching RHONY at the moment but Beverly Hills is good too), Love is Blind! I don't think I want to watch anything that needs a brain cell!

I watched Dr house this evening 🙈
I haven't got any symptoms since I found out I'm pregnant, this is causing me some worry.
With clexane, did you have a blood clotting condition diagnosed?

Dr House is meant to be good! You don't want to stoop to my level of trashy telly, there's no going back after!

With symptoms it might be too early to have any. I've read that some women have little or no symptoms.

I have the homozygous MTFHR gene which I asked to be tested for. That's why I have to take clexane but some clinics just give it to you I think.

OP posts:
Lemonbalm8 · 25/06/2024 08:30

It's great that spotting has stopped! For me it seems to be linked to the pessaries.
Ah I didn't realise you MTFHR is linked to clotting and not just foliate. It's good that they spotted it! I have multiple indicators of blood clotting, but apparently blood clotting more likely causes MCs a bit later, mine were all over by week 6, so I still don't have full answers I guess.

Spotting hasn't completely stopped, it's very very little, hardly anything when I wipe so I hope it's going to stop completely. I don't know too much about MTFHR to be honest, have you had chemicals before? What were your indicators of blood clotting if you don't mind me asking?

I also had a tiny bit of spotting yesterday, it was barely there though. It seems to be on and off.

I also don't know much about MTFHR, I have heterozygous gene, so they prescribed folic acid high dose.
I had few losses at 5-7 weeks last year. My main indicator is lupus anticoagulant positive. That was positive quite a few times during the year, I tested with NHS and private, and both found it during different parts of the year (NHS was later as I was on waitlist). But talking to MC specialists, blood clotting usually causes MC later after week 7, so I don't know if it solves my issue. I'm hoping and praying for #2.

How about you?

Peaches1407 · 25/06/2024 11:09

Ah, did you do a clotting panel? I'm so sorry to hear about your losses, I can't even imagine how hard that must have been.
This is my first pregnancy, and it's with a donor egg and my husbands sperm as I'm 44 and my periods were becoming very irregular due to DOR so we just decided to go down the donor egg route. I also had a partial septum which I've since had removed.

@Peaches1407 yes exactly I did a full range of tests, after my 3rd miscarriage, and lupus anticoagulant came high. I was supposed to start IVF with pgt in July as my AMH levels are near 1 pmol (so about to have dor). I was getting pregnant but miscarrying so there is also egg quality issue, I seem to be running out of time and to be honest IVF wasn't going to solve the issue as I would have responded very poorly but genetic testing was meant to reduce MC risk. Anyway, long story short, a lot seems to be riding on this for both of us 💚 I wish us all the luck in the world. Have you heard of health unlocked, probably another forum won't help all that much now but I found more people there who I identify with. Especially donor eggs, I know quite a few in 44-47 range who are pregnant now 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻quite a few are past 12 weeks now and they were also on blood thinners, progesterone and aspirin just to give it extra support.

Peaches1407 · 25/06/2024 11:51

Thank you, wishing you all the luck as well. I will have a look at health unlocked, sounds like there's a lot of support on there. I'm glad we are both on a protocol that appears to be working for women.

@Peaches1407 are you doing early scans? I booked mine 6+5 weeks but feel like maybe I should have later to be able to see heartbeat. I should be able to see heartbeat right?

Peaches1407 · 28/06/2024 15:14

Hey, I actually went for a scan today. My spotting is still there, and before I left for the scan I started bleeding and then crying in the uber...anyway I am 6 weeks 1 day and saw a heartbeat so you should be fine at 6+5.

I also have some blood in the uterus which I presume is a heamatoma so not sure what to do about that. I'm a bit nervous but aiming to rest and have scans to monitor it. I've emailed my clinic to see if I should.stop blood thinner

@Peaches1407 ah what a relief it must be to see a heartbeat. I did bleed with my son weeks 6-7, it can be normal around that time but how stressful. I am also on and off spotting but not bright red, so hoping it's ok. I'm only 5+2 today so very sure I'll hold off until 6+5. I'm so scared. Do you have any symptoms?
If they discovered the source of bleeding, as long as it's not very close to baby it should be ok. Can you book another scan next week?

It was such a relief, the amount of stress we are carrying in within us at this time is really bad. I've got a private scan next week with my clinic so hopefully they can measure the bleed.

I have no symptoms other than fatigue, no sickness nothing. My mum didn't have anything with her two pregnancies so maybe I've taken after her.

How are you feeling? It is such a scary time, distractions aren't really doing much

I'm ok. I started getting really tired yesterday afternoon but to the point I couldn't get out of bed, with lots of joint pain and body ache. It was nice at first to have symptoms as I had none. But then I started worrying that it might be something immune related, I hope not as I'm not taking any immunosuppressants. I WFH but to be honest this week I've done nothing in terms of work or anything. Nausea I think can come in week 7.
I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

We start to worry about every single thing don't we, my mind goes to al sorts of places. My clinic has said to stop clexane and aspirin until the bleeding subsides. I've barely done any work this week either!! I don't even care. Hope you have a good weekend and best of luck xxx
