TTC #1 no previous pregnancies cycle #6 - looking for others in the same boat!

MocktailMe · 10/06/2024 11:59

Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

@KTB34 congratulations, really hoping this is your sticky bean. 🫶🏻

@MocktailMe the scan was quite positive, I’m still measuring behind my own dates, but the sonographer was the loveliest lady ever. She actually works at the EPU where I was initially scanned too, so I told her about it all. She said dates could still be off despite knowing ovulation based on tube travel / implantation and maybe I got an early positive due to testing when I believed AF was due, even though it may not have been. My sac has grown over 6mm in 6 days and there is now a very visible yolk sac. My scan Tuesday is still detrimental, she explained to me they will expect a fetal pole. She was tentatively positive for me and said if I’m tracking behind because it was delayed finding its way through/implantation I look on good track as she measured me at 5+1/2 which is still 4/5 days behind where I expected to be. I’m too nervous to get my hopes up in all honesty, but it is nice to know I’ve had progress which is normal in the last week and it could just be a timings issue vs a blighted ovum.

Glad to hear your out of the woods from risk of rupture completely now. Really hope this next cycle is a positive one for you, you’re absolutely right a lot of people do seem to catch very soon after mc. I’ve read it’s to do with the still amplified hormones and “fresh” lining. Sorry to hear your period is not being so kind, but hopefully it will ease ready for the festive period and you can gear up to TTC again in the next few weeks if your feeling ready.

KTB34 · 22/12/2024 07:28

@MocktailMe @KT199 thank you both so much ❤️

I have done a 2nd test to be sure and it is positive, no sign of AF yet. I have 0 symptoms (last time I did) so already believing in my head something is wrong 😢

@MocktailMe glad to hear that part of your story is closed. For me when my first period came after the MC I felt like it was the start of the new chapter, such an awful thing to go through !

@KT199 please keep us posted with your progress.

I have booked a private scan for mid Jan so should be nearly 9 weeks !

CharLdn · 23/12/2024 20:24

Good luck everyone everything crossed 🤞

@MocktailMe for next month!

@KTB34 and @KT199 fingers crossed it’s a Christmas magic in your favour and it all works out ❤️

I’m in Switzerland with my husband for two weeks and should hit ovulation so am in this month 🤞

Merry Christmas ladies ❤️

MocktailMe · 27/12/2024 16:16

Hope everyone had a good Christmas (or at least, as good as they could). I'm still working, have all through, which is fine by me as not feeling very festive at all this year.

CharLdn · 30/12/2024 06:41

@MocktailMe I’ve had a good Christmas skiing in magical Switzerland - very badly.

After 3 weeks away from each other it’s been nice to hangout with my husband and skiing really has taken my mind off TTC - you can’t focus on anything when you’re trying not to fall over.

I’ve also been reflecting on the year and have noted how it’s so important to live life fully and not in waiting mode so it’s been good to reflect.

@MocktailMe Hope you’ve managed to eat some good food and rest a bit ❤️

MocktailMe · 30/12/2024 17:36

A white Christmas must have been really lovely!

It's true and I hate that I am yet another anecode, but when I fell pregnant was a month we stopped tracking and honestly barely tried. The week it turns out I must have ovulated we only had sex once. It's crazy.

I think I might be ovulating again now even though it's only day 11 - the signs seem to be here. Although everything has been a bit haywire since the ectopic so I can't be sure. We have had sex today and yesterday so if my hunch is correct then I'm in the game again.

How are the rest of you ladies? Would love to have a catch up on you all. Thinking of you.

KT199 · 30/12/2024 18:31

Hey ladies,

Isn’t looking to be good news for me sadly😔.

I had a scan Xmas eve which was really positive, perfect growth and a heartbeat, was still measuring behind but just thought it took a while to implant, was discharged from EPU. Believed it was a Xmas miracle so let my mum know.

Today I had a rescan with the private place and the pregnancy hadn’t grown since last week but the sac had. There was a heartbeat but it was slow and irregular. There was also debris/bleeding within the sac. The sonographer wasn’t happy and said it didn’t look good. It was the last thing I expected as I’ve been having morning sickness and all sorts. I even commented to my OH how we was wasting our time and theirs going as we’d had the reassurance from EPU last week. Oh how I was wrong.

The sonographer then called EPU but they won’t see me as I’m not bleeding or in pain and as there was a heartbeat they still consider it viable. So she has offered to rescan me (again) next week and EPU will take a referral then if nothings changed, but have said if bleeding / pain starts prior to go to them direct.

Hope all you other ladies get a better start to the new year than it appears I will, wishing you all a wonderful 2025 🫶🏻

Tater05 · 30/12/2024 23:52

So sorry to hear @KT199 . I can't imagine what you're going through now waiting for the next scan, sending hugs and look after yourself this week.

@MocktailMe sounds like you could be back in the game 🤞🏻 it's mad how much we plan and it really can just take the one time!

DH and I made our first GP appointment for next week as we're coming up to a year of TTC. So far I've been reasonably optimistic about the whole thing and sure it will happen for us at some point but approaching the year mark has been really getting me down, not helped by the fact that I think I have endo and I'm a bit worried the Drs will try to fob me off with it just being period pain etc. I need some of my old optimism back 😅

December hasn't been the best month on this thread has it... Hopefully it's onwards and upwards for us all and we get some good news soon

CharLdn · 31/12/2024 06:17

Oh @KT199 that sounds like so much to deal with sending you big hugs fingers crossed in 2025 our luck changes it’s all so deeply unfair ❤️

@Tater05 good luck with the GP - hopefully a positive first step towards getting some answers 🤞

Lets all cross everything for a better 2025!!!!

KTB34 · 31/12/2024 08:18

Morning all, hope everyone had a nice Christmas !

@CharLdn nice to hear you had a good time skiing, I did some lessons a few weeks ago and was awful at it 🤣

@KT199 so sorry to hear this news and how awful that the EPU won’t see you! I had the same issue when I went to the hospital and couldn’t be seen so ended up going to a private clinic too. I hope you have some better news next week ❤️

@Tater05 I hope your GP appointment goes well !

As for me I’m 6w 2d today…according to my dates but I suspect that is probably not very accurate. My anxiety is through the roof with his pregnancy, every time I wipe, every twinge, cramp etc. Also doesn’t help that I have pretty much no symptoms at all (unlike last time) so I’m panicking thinking something is wrong. We have a private viability scan booked for 2 weeks. My pessimist brain won’t let me enjoy this at all

KT199 · 31/12/2024 19:21

Thank you it’s appreciated @Tater05 @KTB34 @CharLdn

It feels truly shitty (excuse my language but I really have no other words) to end one year and begin a new one in this position I can’t lie. But, I have pushed and pushed and managed to get the EPU to see me on Saturday with a look to get things moving as we are meant to go on holiday on 11th Jan and I would really love to still go if at all possible as I really think we need it 😓

@Tater05 good luck with your appointment I hope things move quickly for you

@KTB34 I hope things progress well for you this time round, but I can only imagine your anxieties as it’s something I’ve already began to think about and how much a loss taints the experience even more.

Whilst I feel like I am starting 2025 at rock bottom and going through an awful experience I’m hopeful that that means things can only get better.. I truly hope 2025 is the year of positive tests and happy/healthy pregnancies 🤞🤞

MocktailMe · 02/01/2025 17:06

@kt199 please let us know how you get on on Saturday. I feel terrible for you and know just what you are going through. It's a horrible position of uncertainty and dread and I hope at the very least you get a bit of certainty and a plan for moving forwards on Saturday.

@Tater05 it's a good feeling to get the ball rolling. Try to feel as positive as you can. Scary as it is it means help will be coming and I have everything crossed 2025 will be your year too.

@KTB34 sending you positive thoughts. I can't imagine how scary pregnancy is after loss and these early weeks must be dragging on for you. I'm hoping after a scan you might be able to start to feel some hope and happiness - you deserve it.

KT199 · 04/01/2025 15:21

Thanks @MocktailMe the update isn’t a good one, but it is what I expected. There was no longer a heartbeat, so I am booked for surgical management on Tuesday unless nature takes its course before then.

We will TTC again, but unsure when as the hospital have said to wait until I have a period. So, looks like a good 8+ week wait, which feels like an eternity but will give me time to look after myself mentally and physically following this horrendous experience. I will be laying low until then, so I hope in the meantime everyone gets some happy positive results 🤞🏻

KTB34 · 04/01/2025 19:54

@KT199 I am so sorry to hear this news 💔 sending you lots of love !

I hope the procedure goes well on Tuesday, please get lots of rest you will need it.

Don’t think about TTC just yet, give yourself a chance to heal both physically and emotionally.

I am in Prague for a long weekend before work on Monday urgh.

These early days of pregnancy after loss are hard but I am trying to stay positive and hoping little bean sticks this time!

Hope everyone is well x

MocktailMe · 05/01/2025 09:45

@KT199 I'm so so sorry for what you're going through right now. Wishing you the best care for your procedure, should you need it. Please look after yourself.

I got my period back 4 weeks after losing my baby so it's possible we might hear from you sooner, but do take the time you need.

Anyone else in TWW? I’ve had a bit of a break from it while my husbands away but I’m tentatively feeling hopeful for 2025.

I’m taking the attitude of trying to do all of the things to increase chances but trying to not be obsessive and enjoy my life.

I do unfortunately need to lose about 10kg, but as my Accupuncturist said if I eat super healthy and exercise I’ll probably feel quite good anyway…

everything crossed for a positive 2025 ❤️

Listening to the podcast big fat negative has helped me recently as they are very realistic. We’re also doing couples therapy this year to help us cope with the stress/work on any underlying issues hopefully before we become parents 🙏

anyone else got any tips for staying sane?

MocktailMe · 07/01/2025 16:14

Hey @CharLdn I might be? Not entirely sure as I haven't used OPKs. We have tried minimum every other day since CD 10 and a couple times before that too. No idea what's going on with my cycles as this is my first one after my first period after losing my pregnancy.

We got my partner's sperm analysis back today. He has good sperm count, good mobility but morphology (whether the look normal) only 2% which can be another reason it's taking us so long. However we know it's enough to conceive as we have done, but is yet another cause for it taking so long alongside my PCOS. Our next fertility appointment is in Feb where we can look at this more and see whether we might have IVF or drugs etc.

I listened to the podcast and they seem like lovely people on it. Nice to hear from people who get it!

Staying sane is a daily battle and I've had my old friend depression rear her ugly head over the last month. So I'm focusing on back to basics for the new year. Brushing my teeth, washing my body and hair, walking once per day outside, cooking from scratch for myself and my new year's resolution is to stop watching time-sucking videos on Facebook and Instagram and if I find myself doing so to read a book instead.

Getting outside is really the only thing that helps. This is my favourite season and the beauty of the outdoors in winter really grounds me and helps me feel safe and sane when I feel so depressed and crazy. So I prescribe walking! With a good podcast too!

OP posts:
CharLdn · 09/01/2025 16:43

@MocktailMe for sure walking!

I work for myself on my own from home so it’s really important for me to get out. I’m definitely going to be working on walking in nature more ❤️

Good to get sperm results my Accupuncturist said they are sensitive so there’s definitely lifestyle factors and supplements etc you can do.

Keep us posted ❤️

KT199 · 09/01/2025 17:01

Heyyy ladies! My procedure went as planned Tuesday, so just a waiting game now to see if I test negative in 3 weeks time. Hoping I do so we can come back to TTC and focus on the future!! If I test positive still it will mean another procedure for retained products and another 3 week wait, really don’t want that.

For now I’m going to focus on getting back to my supplements, getting back to full health and processing everything that’s gone on. Luckily the dr has cleared me to fly Saturday proving nothing changes between now and then we have a week in the sun booked, which I’m really looking forward to relaxing and recharging.

Good luck to those in the TWW, hope to see some positives shortly 😊

MocktailMe · 09/01/2025 17:28

Hey @KT199 I'll keep everything crossed for you for a fresh cycle to start again on.

I'm so pleased to hear you'll be going on your holiday. Fresh scenery is just what you need and a chance to recoup and relax and recover. I hope you have a really lovely time and looking forward to having you back in the game with us!

@CharLdn he's already started working on diet and doing some more walking of his own which is a good start!

We have our next fertility appointment early Feb and I'm going to be getting the hysterosalpingogram booked as soon as my period starts this month. So the ball is rolling on again.

@MocktailMe yay for progress - we move ❤️ I think going into year two TTC I’m feeling peaceful and hopeful we can all make progress!

@KT199 so good you can fly and get some sun! Read lots of trashy books and enjoy some good food ❤️ so glad you can go.

CharLdn · 10/01/2025 18:24

Hi friends,

I wanted to share some insights I got from therapy today.

I realised last year I’d been obsessed with TTC I’d forgotten who I am outside of being a mum or not a mum.

anyway wanted to share it’s something I’m thinking about at the moment and regardless of what happens I want to be more me this year!

maple1234 · 11/01/2025 12:26

Hey everyone! Our first month closely tracking and timing intercourse as we have just been going with the flow the last few months but obviously hasn't happened yet. What do you think my chances are? My cycles are still really long after coming off the pill a few months ago. I know last night would have been ideal too but don't want it to become a chore yet
