I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

@Confusedddddddd not much I don’t think. They said if I get any other symptoms such as irregular or no periods, then to arrange further tests as could mean it has progressed to PCOS where they can prescribe things to regulate ovulation. Although my cycles are long, they’re not irregular. Basically just the usual, maintain a healthy weight, eat healthily etc etc.

@Shortcake06 I did exactly the same, held off to see if it came 🙄. I just looked at my emails and I ordered it on the 26th January and had the dispatched email on the 31st.

humanwinginglife · 06/05/2024 20:53

We've been trying since July 2023 but seriously trying (OPK's etc...) since October 2023.

So 10 months in total but 7 months being on the ball.

I'm 28 and DH is 48. Starting to lose hope in all honesty. He struggles with ED which we think is due to his disability and operations when he was a baby/and or something to do with the brain (mild CP).

I'm exhausted and just about to enter ovulation once more (predicted Weds). Just feel like it'll be another disappointing month, really struggling to stay positive. But of course on the outside, I'm being as positive as possible.

So far we have had 1 MMC (years ago), 1 chemical since trying and one very early miscarriage in December diagnosed via hospital.

Thank you for making this thread 🙏

emmatcc1 · 06/05/2024 21:13

@humanwinginglife I know exactly how you feel, we all do. We have been trying since October 22 with one MMC in February.
We’re 21 and 27 and I thought it was gonna happen so quick as we’re young and I’m getting real tired from ttc.
Are you getting any tests done?

Sorry to hear you're also struggling, it sucks doesn't it?!

DH has mentioned tests but to be honest, I've been less so. I'm not sure why. I guess because I think he's afraid he's the problem and if a test came back that that was the case, it would destroy the little confidence he has 😢

I know I'm okay fertility wise from the hospital in December but unfortunately my early pregnancy caused a cyst on one of my ovaries. Apparently it's fairly common and won't affect anything but who knows?!

Have you done any tests?

emmatcc1 · 06/05/2024 21:51

@humanwinginglife No we haven’t done any testing and probably won’t for a while. I’m also nervous that his tests would come back bad and how would that make him feel. We got pregnant once I’m sure we can do it again.

I'm of the same mind. I'm going to hold off just yet. Sending you lots of baby dust ♥️ hopefully it's just around the corner for us!

YouveGotAFastCar · 07/05/2024 12:18

@humanwinginglife We're very similar - also on cycle 7, DH also has mild CP. Thankfully no ED here, that must be difficult.

I'm 9dpo today. Temps are fucked, so I have no idea... Test yesterday was VERY negative, though. I find I'm very optimistic pre-ovulation; but find this bit - where you can't do anything to help and have ages until it's worth trying again - really difficult to manage.

This month would have had a super sweet story, too. I could have told DH on his birthday and I'd have been going into the second trimester on mine. I'd be due on Valentine's Day 😆 But my head is saying my temps were preparing me for something...

It's "only" 7 months, but it feels like so, so long.

It's comforting to know I'm not alone although of course wish you weren't in a similar position.

Everything crossed for you for this month, it could be it's just to early yet 🤞

You are right! 7 months feels like 7 years and the waiting in between is crippling! It's crazy what a science there is to it all. It's just so frustrating when your doing everything 'right' and it doesn't happen month and month again isn't it 😟

curliegirlie · 07/05/2024 12:38

How weird- I also have mild cerebral palsy (assume that's what you meant down thread!). Although I've struggled with TTC each time (as in it's taken a year plus) I don't think it's to do with the CP in my case.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 07/05/2024 12:49

@YouveGotAFastCar I’m the same to be honest, from CD3 to about 6pm I feel optimistic and chilled and then when I inevitably test on 7DPO and get a negative it’s just a mixture of anger/sadness/anxiety until my period starts ☹️.

Morning all ✨ all my bloods have come back normal so I’m going to speak to a doctor and then try and book in for some scans. Fertile week is fast approaching so going to be busy 😂.

RRAEE · 08/05/2024 10:52

@YaWeeFurryBastard glad they came back normal. Hopefully you get some answers with the scans 💐

Confusedddddddd · 08/05/2024 13:24

@YaWeeFurryBastard what did you have checked? I've just ordered a random health test that should arrive today. The fertility consultant said that if I'm having regular periods then hormones should be fine but I'm not convinced. I have quite different PMS symptoms to when I conceived DD so I just feel like something is off.

7dpo today and stark negative - not a surprise.

Confusedddddddd · 08/05/2024 13:26

I'm also cramping quite early this month - not expecting it to mean anything but I find symptom spotting so hard to avoid

Nice to meet you! My DH was born with part of his upper legs bonded together so we think the surgery as a baby may have caused some issues thus always struggling with ED.

Sending lots of baby dust!

Shortcake06 · 09/05/2024 22:01

How is everyone getting on?
Wishing everyone lots of luck 🍀
Im now 4 or 5 dpo. No symptoms at all. Not feeling too hopeful really!

RRAEE · 10/05/2024 02:00

@Shortcake06 I'm about 7dpo now and full of a nasty cold. Not feeling very hopeful either. 😕

YaWeeFurryBastard · 10/05/2024 07:48

@Shortcake06 @RRAEE fingers crossed for you two ✨✨. I’m entering the fertile week (CD9) so a bit behind you, not feeling particularly hopeful this go.

OP posts:
RRAEE · 10/05/2024 07:55

@YaWeeFurryBastard thank you ! You too. I was hopeful until this cold hit now i think I'm probably out. I know its to early and wont test till im late but god im sick and its made my out look change 🙃

LK2610 · 10/05/2024 08:19

@Shortcake06 we’re just entering fertile week too. I’ve decided to try and think of it a bit longer term and so not expecting it to be a success this cycle but we’ll see. I hope this is your month, and yours too @RRAEE

I always know each cycle if it’s not worked as I get quite specific period cramps from around 4 or 5dpo that last until AF. It’s really annoying cos I don’t even get the one or two weeks of hoping 😫 I just know almost instantly.

That’s reassuring that your bloods came back ok @YaWeeFurryBastard ☺️

RRAEE · 10/05/2024 10:13

@LK2610 thank you 💕 and i hope this month is your month. 🤞🏻

Catillac · 10/05/2024 10:16

Well girls AF has arrived today for me as expected. That's me onto cycle 11 of TTC now 😩 I also have my sister gender scan to goto with her later today. It's going to be a tough day.

Shortcake06 · 10/05/2024 13:56

@YaWeeFurryBastard sorry I missed your message before - I’m glad to hear your bloods are all normal that’s great 😀 good luck for your fertile week I hope it’s your month 🤞
@RRAEE sorry you have the cold that’s rubbish, sending lots of positive vibes I hope it’s your month 🤞
@LK2610 good luck for your fertile week. Thinking long term is kind of where I need to go I think. I’m not saying no to things any more “because I might be pregnant”. Sending luck nonetheless I hope it’s your month 🤞
@Catillac im sorry AF came, it’s always upsetting, big hugs. It sounds like a tough day ahead. I think you should treat yourself to something nice today xx

mamataylor · 10/05/2024 19:48

@Shortcake06 on CD13, had lots of watery EWCM today so I think ovulation is imminent. Keeping everything crossed for you that this is your month 🤞 and to you too @RRAEE x

RRAEE · 10/05/2024 20:09

Thanks guys ! Slowly recovering from this cold.

@mamataylor sounds good fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻
