TTC for those taking longer than average ✨

I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

I’ve just had the day 3 bloods done too @YaWeeFurryBastard no idea how to read the results, I reckon they’ll be back in a week or so

@emmatcc1 i have everything crossed that your period stays away!! We were using conceive plus the month and the months before I conceived my first child. I can’t say if it made a difference! When I accidentally fell last year we were using boring old durex 😂

I had my positive OPK yesterday and we have DTD the last 5 days including today. Probably one more go tomorrow for good luck 😂 we have used preseed this month that I bought on Amazon. I have zero hope but giving it my best shot. I’ve even been lying with my hips tilted for 20 minutes and I’m sure that makes zero difference 🫣

I’ve been using my Apple Watch for BBT but I don’t know how accurate it is. I’m awake a few times in the night with my toddler, so I never know when to end sleep focus and get it to record my temperature. Last night I was awake from 2 - 4am…

It’s linked to FF which keeps telling me my temperatures are inconsistent but has also said that I’ve had dropping temperatures for five days now so pregnancy is unlikely, which is a bit crushing. I thought I had a few days left to have hope!

I’ve got a giant Easy@Home box too, so was going to test tomorrow & Weds, 8 and 10dpo.

I use ovusense as its core temp. Doesn't matter if you get up during night. But it is quite pricey. Worth just to see ovulation confirmed though

I have to be honest @Shortcake06 i don’t know fully. I went to my doctor and asked for some blood tests and she said to have them on day 1-3 of AF. I did some research and the things I’ve been tested for are called ‘day 3 tests’. That’s about all I know so far.

I’ve been tested for prolactin levels as I said I was extremely stressed from my job and my doctor said stress can affect fertility so they’re checking for that. Also FSH, LH (I think), THS (thyroid levels) and general blood test/general health stuff like full blood count and iron levels. I haven’t had a blood test for years so thought it was worth checking I didn’t have any deficiencies x

I think you can also get your egg levels tested but the NHS haven’t offered that to me. It’s called AMH. I’m very new to testing so please someone correct me if im wrong 😂

Yes you can, I had mine checked with the NHS.

@LK2610 Was your GP quite happy to go ahead and do tests or were you quizzed about how long you’d been trying etc? My GP did a lot of non-fertility bloods after my miscarriage and they were fine.

As time goes on I have so little hope with each cycle but tonight I’ve googled what my due date would be and looked at prams online😪 Why do I do it!?

I do the same, Flo tells me every cycle anyway what my due date will be if I'm successful! Altho I find myself really angry at the fact we're into 2025 due dates now 🥴🥲

i do the same, @Shortcake06. Flo tells me! It’s so hard not to visualise it then… this month could have meant I told DH on his birthday and I’d have started the second trimester on my birthday.

BFN at 8dpo today and my temps are dropping so I’m pretty sure I’m out. I feel gutted. I’m going to order an OvuSense today though, thanks for that recommendation!

Oh, I'm not sure I could cope with knowing potential due dates every month, although last couple of cycles I looked as I was intrigued where it would fall in relation to Christmas and New Year.

I hear you about 2025 dates feeling crazy. If my MC hadn't happened that DC would be nearly 18 months old now - a proper toddler! And I'm not even pregnant...

@YouveGotAFastCar does Flo tell you? I have that app and did not know that so that’s another thing for me to look at 😂 it’s amazing how you start to plan how it will work on that date

@curliegirlie im sorry that’s so hard! I often think about where my life would be if I hadn’t miscarried. Interesting what you said about Christmas birthdays. My first child’s birthday is as close as you can get without being Christmas Day itself 😂

Im now 1dpo according to apps but maybe 2dpo as I had a peak on Saturday morning. We have managed to DTD six days in a row now including this morning so we have had a good go. Also used preseed.
I had a look at Hertility last night and I think I will order this once my period comes.

@Shortcake06 wow you must be exhausted 😂.

I did the hertility tests a couple of months ago and found them great. Everything came back in range except AMH slightly high which they indicated was PCO (but not PCOS). Although obviously it’s good everything was fine, kind of makes it more frustrating that nothing is happening.
If I remember right, you do the blood test on day 3 of your period. I’d ordered it once AF had arrived so had to wait until the next cycle to do it annoyingly

@curliegirlie it's tough, my friend was pregnant the same time I was with my first MC and we had her first bday party a few weeks ago and it's so sad to think I should also have a 1 year old! But what do you do only keep going on 🥴

@Shortcake06 well done on 6 days in a row. I struggle to get DH to do even every other day sometimes.

@Marie1990x is there anything that can be done about PCO?

Currently 5 dpo, will start testing in a couple of days as I usually get impatient. No unusual symptoms this month, but I've really made an effort not to symptom spot. Really feeling now that we are 10/11 cycles in (I've lost count) that it's just going to take a while, so just need to DTD when needed and forget about it the rest of the time as hard as it is.

@Confusedddddddd all men are different! I’m exhausted and my husband thinks he has won the lottery. But I don’t want him to feel like I’m only interested in getting pregnant too, total romance killer! I look forward to seeing a hopefully positive test! I’m only a few days behind you but don’t test early any more. The negatives are just too upsetting. My luteal phase is quite short anyway 10-12 days.
@Marie1990x thanks so much for the info and great to hear good reviews! Did it arrive quickly? I wonder if I order on the day my period arrives if it would come on time. I should really just order it now but I am stupidly holding on to a little hope.
