I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

@Marie1990x im just waiting to be referred they didnt say much else just that i had it from what they saw on the ultrasound. Im waiting for a phone call from my doctors to discuss it further but in the mean time they are referring me.

@Marie1990x my GP did fertility tests on the NHS despite me already having DC. NHS covered tests and a consultation with a fertility clinic, anything after that had to be privately funded.

Sorry, I missed this reply last night! That’s great they still did tests, hoping mine will be the same 🤞🏻

Marie1990x · 15/08/2024 14:42

Just an update in case anyone else is wondering if doctors will do anything when TTC number 2 -

I’ve just had my telephone appointment with my GP (surprisingly they called me a day early asking to bring it forward).

It was literally a 5 minute convo where I just mentioned I’m concerned about my irregular cycles and been ttc for over 18 months.

He has put in a request for full blood works (fertility type bloods and also things like thyroid etc to see if anything else comes up) and also an ultrasound to check for cysts and general ovary function.

I thought I was going to have to beg for these with already having a child, but he was more than helpful. Also mentioned that dependant on what the results are, there may be something they can do rather than going down the private route.

So glad I made the appointment as I’d been putting it off for ages through sheer embarrassment 😊🫣

Confusedddddddd · 15/08/2024 15:25

That's really great @Marie1990x!

I specifically asked mine for full bloods including thyroid, but when I went for my test it turned out they'd only put progesterone on the form 🤦🏻‍♀️. I ended up paying for all the rest privately.

RRAEE · 15/08/2024 15:50

@Marie1990x thats good news then !
Im TTC no 1 and thats all the same stuff they did with me. Good luck and hope you get answers 🤞🏻

Marie1990x · 15/08/2024 15:51

@Confusedddddddd oh that’s so frustrating!

What happened after you for your results? Did they show anything? Sorry if you’ve already said previously.

I’ve just looked at the request on the NHS app and can’t actually see anything other than fertility bloods 😂 but that’s my main concern anyway so at least they are there.

Booked bloods in for next Thursday and need to call the hospital on Monday to book my ultrasound

@Marie1990x that's great! Hope you get answers, it's nice to get the ball rolling 🙂 just up and getting ready for egg collection it's at 12. Nervous and excited!

Marie1990x · 16/08/2024 08:26

@Daniki ahhhh amazing!!! Best of luck!! Hope it goes well, let us know how you get on 🥰

Marie1990x · 16/08/2024 08:30

@RRAEE have you spoken to your doctor about the results yet? So frustrating waiting isn’t it.

Seems like the tests get booked fairly quick but the actual follow ups and referrals take a while 😩.

My GP didn’t really mention any time frame, just said when the results are back we’ll book in a follow up. I got a text from the ultrasound department saying results will be available within 2 weeks, but from what I’ve read I can’t see the happening that soon

RRAEE · 16/08/2024 08:52

@Daniki good luck today 🤞🏻

@Marie1990x yea i spoke about the results just waiting for a proper call about the scan results but she told me everything on the first call just not massive details about anything other than briefly what was wrong and that they will refer me. Shes is calling me again on the 27th so hopefully ill get a bit more info and will actually have more answers and shell have referred me.

Confusedddddddd · 16/08/2024 09:06

@Marie1990x honestly nothing. Because we've already had a child drs keep telling us it'll happen without help. But I've now lost a tube and keep growing large cysts. My progesterone was normal so dr just said everything is ok. It irritated me they wouldn't do thyroid considering I have a history of my thyroid being off, and am prescribed medication from an endocrinologist for it. I haven't self tested for that yet but plan to before starting IVF.

That good you've got all those tests, I'm assuming these are day 2, then you'll have progesterone on day 21?

Marie1990x · 16/08/2024 11:45

@Confusedddddddd oh no way that’s so frustrating. How can they say that’s normal
if you’re down a tube and growing cysts??? I genuinely feel like it’s just pot luck what treatment you get depending on your doctors. I hope you manage to get some answers and conceive soon!

I’ve no idea tbh, he never mentioned having them at specific timings of my cycle 🤔. I’ll see what they say when I go. It’s weird that I’m hoping they spot something (that can be resolved) to help understand why it isn’t happening

Daniki · 16/08/2024 15:23

Hi ladies, got on good got 11 eggs so hopefully they will all fertilise 😂 feeling very sore after it so chill weekend ahead, thank god we moved everything yesterday to our new house so I can relax on all the new furniture 😂

@Confusedddddddd god your doctor even irritates me! That is extremely frustrating, we really have to advocate for absolutely everything 😣

Marie1990x · 16/08/2024 15:41

@Daniki excellent news! What happens next? X

RRAEE · 16/08/2024 15:52

@Daniki that sounds very promising !

RRAEE · 18/08/2024 11:10

Im out again back to CD 1

Daniki · 18/08/2024 13:51

So I found out that 9 fertilised, have to wait and see how many(if any) make it to blast so I won't hear any more until Thursday! Whatever makes it they will freeze and then do a transfer after my next bleed. Very sore still today and I'm on a comedown from all the hormones I'm like a angry crying mess 😂🙈

@RRAEE ah I'm sorry 😢

RRAEE · 18/08/2024 14:15

@Daniki thats good ! 9 out of 11 isn't bad hopefully you get a good few to implant. Keep us updated on your journey.

I knew id be out this month anyways so was expecting it.

Marie1990x · 18/08/2024 14:54

@Daniki that sounds promising that the majority fertilised 😊. Thursday sounds so far away but hopefully it goes quick and you get some good news by then 🤞🏻. Bless you I’m not surprised you’re hormonal.

@RRAEE sorry you’re back to CD1. AF came last night for me too but never mind, can’t say I’m surprised

Confusedddddddd · 18/08/2024 22:09

Danilo that sounds like great news! Out of interest why aren't you having any fresh ones transferred?

Daniki · 19/08/2024 09:10

@Confusedddddddd I had 35 follicles so they switched time to a freeze all cycle as I was at risk of OHSS! Prob a good idea iv been quite sore since!

MaybeItsJustTimeToStop · 19/08/2024 09:27

@Marie1990x @RRAEE sorry you're back to CD1.
I've been lurking but had been quiet as I was trying to distance myself as we'd decided we were definitely going to stop in December but I can't quite believe I'm writing this but I have a bfp.
I'm only 4 weeks so a long way to go and EPU have booked me in for the 4th to check if its in the right place. I know people often ask if you did anything different but after 22months with not a whiff of a bfp and 3.5 years of trying I think maybe it's just a fluke. I'd actually stopped taking vitamins when I ran out of the procieve max, DH was still taking them as he had a box more than me on the 3 for 2. We'd also both been eating almonds (7 a day) after reading that may help, I didn't do opks as I'd ran out and decided not to by more, we also only dtd 3 times CD11, 14 and 16 ( I usually ovulate between day 15-19).
I know we're only over the 1st hurdle and pretty nervous about being on holiday before the scan, but epu weren't concerned by that. Just hoping this one is OK and sticks.

Thanks @Favofit I'll update after the 4th as I know there are a few of us with 1 tube post ectopic, trying to just take it 1 day at a time 🤞
