I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

Don't forget to beets and take vitamin

@Favofit that's good your other tube is clear and it went well. I am going to look into IVF if we haven't conceived by the end of this year.

@ImAFluffyBunny I would have been exactly the same, it's so hard when you think there's a good chance and it turns out not. Have you been tracking ovulation? I've had a couple of times when I've just totally skipped a period.

Feel like I’ve been in a bit of a sulk all day and not had the motivation to do anything 🙈 I’ve been tracking via flo app (which I know isn’t the most accurate) but I decided when we started trying (this was cycle 6) that after 6 months I’d get some ovulation strips but wanted at least the first 6 months without too much pressure on ourselves. Although we have DTD most days this month (most is 2 days between) so definitely thought we had a good chance. Plus have had sore boobs the past week, been so tired and been more hungry than usual. I’ve never totally skipped a period though so still feel a bit on edge if it’ll come or not.

Groundhoghcg · 12/07/2024 19:24

Can I join? We've been trying for #2 for nearly three years with 3 miscarriages and and ectopic to show for it.

DS is nearly five, the gap will be so big if it ever happens 😥 I am obsessed and think of nothing but babies.

I haven't conceived for 7 cycles now, I had a saline sonogram and hycosy today. I had weirdly hoped something would be wrong but it was all fine 🙃 i also have a dominant follicle forming on the ovary without a tube, and the doctor said she doesn't think the tube does migrate! Arrrrgh! I feel like this cycle is over already.

Confusedddddddd · 12/07/2024 23:02

Welcome @Groundhoghcg!

How come they don't think the tube migrates? There's been a number of studies that show it migrates 1/3 of the time. It sucks having miscarriages and ectopics.

We're in the same position - trying for #2, but nowhere near as long and only had an ectopic, but due to my age and the fact I only have one tube and one good ovary on opposite sides, we've decided to go ahead with IVF in 2-3 months.

Groundhoghcg · 13/07/2024 12:54

@Confusedddddddd she said matter-of-factly that although people say it moves there isn't evidence to suggest this. My doom Google found plenty of evidence it's possible though. I think I told myself thought it was very similar odds and it's been a bummer to realise that's not the case. I'm sure you've been given better guidance than me!

We're going to give it 2-3 cycles and then do IVF too. The finances are such a headache.

Confusedddddddd · 13/07/2024 22:12

@Groundhoghcg ah that's fair enough. I kinda wish someone had told me something like that though. I've spoken to a couple of gynae consultants and a fertility consultant that said the other tube will usually pick the egg up from the other side, but I have a 4cm cyst in the side with the tube and although the tube is open I just think the cyst is getting in the way of it. I think I've just been given a load of false hope. At first I said we'll try 6 cycles, then the consultant just said "you've fallen pregnant easily twice before, it'll happen again" and that was even doing a Hycosy was too invasive at that stage, we waited another 4 then I said "screw it let's pay privately for testing", the consultant then said everything is fine but my age (38) so keep trying another 6-8 months then IVF. I kinda wish I went for it after 6 months though.

I get you with the financial side, we're lucky our local nhs hospital has a fertility clinic so it's a bit cheaper but still 6.5-7k per cycle. I figured if we sell my car we can afford 3 maybe 4 cycles. I my mind I just keep thinking let's do 1 and see what we get egg/embryo wise.

Itstime2023 · 13/07/2024 22:19

I'm struggling today. Because it was ovulation day but husband not in the mood to DTD.
I've cried and he thinks I'm being over dramatic which I probably am they'll be other cycles. But literally been wanting this for months now and something always seems to come up.

Groundhoghcg · 14/07/2024 13:51

@Confusedddddddd I know what you mean about false hope. I think fertility doctors see an extra 6 months here or there as insignificant, but it's not! I looked at ivf after my last miscarriage and had the consults for PGT testing, then decided to wait and see. I wish I'd just done it then. We're looking at ivf in the Czech Republic or Greece because its so expensive here.

@Itstime2023 that's really tough, fwiw I think you've responded to your dh with more grace than many would have! Has he done this before when it's been ovulation time?

Itstime2023 · 14/07/2024 17:30

@Groundhoghcg not specifically at ovulation. I was trying to explain how such a short window period we have etc etc.

Anyway, we're where we are at now, cannot go backwards. Hopefully better look next month.

ImAFluffyBunny · 14/07/2024 19:14

Has anyone else had this before? My period is usually regular as clockwork on CD 29 (I know I mentioned in my last post) but it’s over a week late and I’ve done a second test this morning which is still negative. My boobs are still sore as anything and I’m SO tired. I don’t know whether to get in contact with drs for a blood test or something? I’ve just never completely missed a period before and not really sure what to do 🤷🏼‍♀️ Also hate the not knowing if AF is going to randomly pay me a very late visit 😩

@ImAFluffyBunny I've had cycles at 44 days and 67 before.

I was going to book a GP appointment but then period arrive. Kept testing too and was getting negatives.

6 weeks is classed as a missed period. So maybe get in touch with GP after that date if AF hasn't arrived.

Have you been poorly? Under stress? Any big changes to diet? Loads of things can alter periods 😢

I do hope you get a BFP though 🤞🤞❤️

I had this happen but i did cry and explained the timing and we BD the next day. Also most women don't tell them the ovulation date

Okay, thank you. It’ll be 6 weeks this weekend since the first day of my cycle so if AF hasn't showed her face by the end of the week I’ll get in contact. We’re away next weekend so would be nice to have an idea on what’s happening by then 🙈
I haven’t been poorly or had any diet changes and I don’t think I’ve been stressed, honestly felt like I’ve been quite relaxed this month 🤷🏼‍♀️
Thank you 🤞🏻 Sending you baby dust too 🤞🏻

Scrap that, AF has just decided to show up 😩 Cycle day 39!!

Itstime2023 · 15/07/2024 12:37

@TTTBeawinner maybe I should not discuss ovulation dates.

RRAEE · 16/07/2024 09:20

I swear every time i take a HGC test my period starts right after 🫠 back to CD 1 again 🫤

Confusedddddddd · 16/07/2024 15:14

@RRAEE haha, stop taking them and it'll never come :)

RRAEE · 16/07/2024 15:31

@Confusedddddddd if only 😂

Confusedddddddd · 18/07/2024 14:04

Have there been any BFPs on this thread yet? Looking for a glimmer of hope!

RRAEE · 18/07/2024 14:17

@YaWeeFurryBastard glad its all going well for you and good luck for your scan 💕

Im currently going through the tests now hoping there is nothing wrong 🫤

Daniki · 19/07/2024 18:04

@YaWeeFurryBastard woohoo! Update us please when ya have your scan 🥰

@RRAEE what tests have ya started? It's a lot to get your head around!

I picked up my meds for my IVF cycle, I start them on Monday and my GOD the amount of stuff. I am actually blessed to be in Ireland as we have a drugs scheme here that you don't pay another more than €80 per month!

RRAEE · 19/07/2024 18:24

@Daniki had the bloods on day 3 of my cycle and then gotta have the day 21 bloods and then im waiting for an ultra sound appointment and a pelvic exam 🤷🏻‍♀️
