I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

@ImAFluffyBunny don't be silly we all need a rant! And that would annoy me too as I have a similar situation in my family and the woman in questions drinks, smokes and takes drugs throughout her pregnancies and has all her children taken off her. My niece is living with my mam and my brother. 🥴 this is a safe space, we all need to let it out! 😆

UrsulaSings123 · 05/07/2024 18:01

Hi everyone. Would it be OK to join this thread? I am TTC 2nd. 1st didn't take long then we started trying in Dec 23 and fell pregnant straight away then had a MC and nothing since then. I'm on my 6th cycle since the MC as I only have 23/24 day cycles since the MC with very light periods. Having a scan on Monday to check everything still OK as my cycles have changed so much and I had surgical management for the MC. DP is having sperm analysis soon and I have had blood tests on day 5 and all came back OK. Need to still have day 19 (I ovulate day 12).

Finding it so hard seeing pregnant people and babies. My DP is 51 and I am 35 so I don't feel time is on our side.

Favofit · 07/07/2024 10:35

@UrsulaSings123 welcome to the club no one wants to be in. These days I'm also really struggling seeing people having their second, we've been ttc #2 since December 21 and I just don't understand why it's not happening. We had an ectopic in June 22 and my left tube was taken out. It's hard but I feel all we can do is keep trying .

UrsulaSings123 · 07/07/2024 11:05

@Favofit did it take long to conceive your first? Have you had any investigations at all? This is honestly one of the most difficult things I've had to deal with, it's horrible.

Libu90 · 07/07/2024 11:47

Hey all, when you feel like the outside noise is always positive and everyone around you is falling pregnant seemingly at the drop of a hat (3 bestfriends and my sister) and you’re in month 10 of ttc your first it can be a little soul destroying. Obviously you’re elated for those close to you and their wonderful news but there’s the thought of “why not me”. I didn’t get a positive OPK at the time I usually do this month, so thinking I’ve had an anovulatory cycle but now on day 41 when usual cycle length is 28-31 days. Took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and as expected it was negative - would like AF to arrive so I can go again

Favofit · 07/07/2024 11:51

@UrsulaSings123 our first was conceived within three months of trying and at the time I naively thought it was long. The second (which ended up being ectopic ) was conceived within six months of trying and I haven't had a positive test since then: my surgery where I lost a tube was 2 years ago. We've since had investigations and nothing wrong. Although OH was recommended to use supplements to improve morphology which he hadn't done when we conceived DD. I had a Hycosy last month and thankfully the other tube is functioning well.

RRAEE · 08/07/2024 12:46

So saw the doctor today gotta do the 2 blood tests and have a scan and examination.

Im glad they are finally helping but im now so stressed for the examination part as ive only had one smear which was unsuccessful due to it being so painful for me 😪

I know the examination is like the smear which for me is horrendous. Has anyone got any advice as to make it more comfortable. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry to ask TMI but really could do with any advice

CoolSummer89 · 08/07/2024 15:28

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. AF has arrived so I’m beginning cycle 7 or 8 of TTC 1. I asked this on the July thread but wondering if perhaps someone here has had experience of blood tests done by GPs.
they have referred me for blood tests to check my hormones as are expected. Are there times in the cycle that I should/should not have the test done? They have not specified which hormones they are testing for, so I guess it is just a general panel.

Confusedddddddd · 08/07/2024 21:40

@Favofit you're in a similar situation to me. 6 months for 1st child, then first try for an ectopic pregnancy then nothing since losing my tube. Did they say at the Hycosy whether you had a better ovary? My ovary the side I lost my tube has 7 follicles, the other only 2 but also a couple of cysts. We think because of the cysts the tube is struggling to move across and pick up follicles from the good ovary. The few consultants I've seen so far have all said it should pick them up and so we've been diagnosed as unexplained secondary infertility. We've decided to start IVF in 3 months ( Just need to sell my car first so we can afford it!)

Any one ?

RRAEE · 09/07/2024 13:48

Any one ?

Do you already ask for the smaller speculum?

I have to have that - the bigger one just causes pain. The smaller one is fine for me. I know they'll use more lube to make it more comfortable if you need them too, as well, and some places are happy for you to play music if you've got some that could distract/calm you down. A friend of mine does Duolingo tests when she's having hers, to keep her distracted.

I hope it goes okay 💐

CD1 here. Hard not to be disappointed!

RRAEE · 09/07/2024 17:02

@YouveGotAFastCar yes but the nurse didnt listen at the time so when she told me to rebook i didnt because didnt wanna go through it again. But now i have to for the tests the doctor ordered so im a bit stressed.

Im hoping the person i have this time will listen to me. Luckily i have a few weeks as i said im in my TWW and didnt wanna risk anything just incase. Currently got some cramping CD 22 so hope it's promising.

Thank you. I may play music or something as well to try and stay distracted.

Its hard every time you go back to CD1. Wishing you luck this cycle✨💕

PurpleSeven7 · 09/07/2024 21:43

Hi everyone, found the thread and wanted to jump on as it’s just the talk I need to hear atm. I’m 37, ttc #2 for 18 months. My son is 4. Had first positive test in April but miscarried at 6 weeks so feeling pretty despondent right now.
I feel awful for the resentment I’m feeling at people announcing their pregnancies so just wanted to rant to some ladies in the same boat xx

UrsulaSings123 · 09/07/2024 22:05

@RRAEE I used to find smears difficult as well but now they are fine. Just try and relax as much as possible because I think tensing up can make it more difficult.

@CoolSummer89 the blood test I did was on day 5 and then 1 week after ovulation. Perhaps you should call and check? Or maybe the phlebotomist would know?

I'm feeling so low the last couple days. Got a 'shared burial' funeral tomorrow for the baby I miscarried. Just been looking at vitimins and coq10 and stuff to take to help conceive and totally boggled my mind.

Sending solidarity to you all.

RRAEE · 09/07/2024 22:12

@UrsulaSings123 thank you for your response, it was so painful im hoping this time will be easier 🤞🏻

And im so sorry to hear of your loss. 🙁 sending hugs 💕

Catillac · 10/07/2024 16:39

Well back to CD1 and that marks one year of TTC for us with no luck at all. Honestly feeling so deflated and still haven't heard anything about my refferal to the fertility clinic. We were referred in March. NHS are so slow.

I do hope you ladies have better luck than me on your current cycles.

UrsulaSings123 · 10/07/2024 21:34

Sorry to hear it's taking so long @Catillac , the struggle is so real isn't it. Did they say how long you would be waiting to be seem? I'm hoping once I have my blood test results and DP has semen analysis we will be referred to fertility clinic. But then like you say I imagine we will be waiting a long time to actually see someone.

UrsulaSings123 · 10/07/2024 21:35

@RRAEE when is your procedure? Hope it goes OK. Could the Dr prescribe you some diazepam or something beforehand to help with your anxiety?

RRAEE · 10/07/2024 22:00

@UrsulaSings123 its at the end of the month. I have to do the 2 blood tests and have the examination and then wait for them to get in contact about a scan

Im fine with every thing but the smear type test. It was just so painful for me last time. I think i may ask for something to help. The worst they can say is no.

Im hoping that ive conceived this time 🤞🏻 only cd23 and have had light cramps today so hoping a good sign but who knows. 😪

Catillac · 10/07/2024 23:02

@UrsulaSings123 thank you. No they didn't say but when I checked online and it says the wait time in my area was 7 months at the time of my refferal so could be a while yet before i hear word.

I hope you get the refferal okay and don't need to wait too long. Some areas have much longer waiting times than others. Fingers crossed for you.

Did you get the Hycosy done ? Mine only said the remaining tube was clear and uterus looked good. It's our second month since the procedure and I'm today feeling hopeful again 🥰

We might have to go through ivf if it doesn't happen soon.

Think I'm close to ovulation , got these results earlier today

Feeling a little heartbroken this morning. AF is usually regular day 29 on the dot and is 6/7days late this month so took a test this morning. Negative ☹️ I was trying not to get my hopes up and was putting off doing a test but thought as I was around a week late I had a good chance, how silly of me!!

Have you tried any other tests ? Maybe the pink dye is more sensitive . Keeping my fingers crossed for you ❤️

I haven’t yet as that was the only test I had in the house so will try and get some different ones over the weekend. Thank you 😊

UrsulaSings123 · 12/07/2024 15:17

@Favofit that's good your other tube is clear and it went well. I am going to look into IVF if we haven't conceived by the end of this year.

@ImAFluffyBunny I would have been exactly the same, it's so hard when you think there's a good chance and it turns out not. Have you been tracking ovulation? I've had a couple of times when I've just totally skipped a period.
