I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

Hi, hope it's ok to join (aware very late to the party!). We've been trying 18 months and I've found it so, so hard. Never had a whiff of a positive or anything. Surrounded by several friends and colleagues who managed to get pregnant after one or two cycles.
We've both had some basic testing but have to wait until 1st August for our appointment to get the results of those.
I guess looking for some company from others who "get it" as no-one else understands the heartbreak and anger every month when the spotting starts 💔

Super safe space here , I totally understand the anger and heartbreak 💔

RRAEE · 30/06/2024 16:49

@CarolCat welcome to the group, not that its a group we all want to be in but its a safe space for all of us and we all get the frustration, anger and disappointment. 💕

Im Probably out this month already. Dp is sick with a cold / flu and its my fertile window 🫤

Daniki · 30/06/2024 17:02

@Favofit yea it's very disheartening 🥺 the max is so expensive! I take the conception and add in extra coQ10 but D and folic acid.

Welcome @CarolCat it's a tough aul journey 😫

Was out last night with friends and one of my friends burst into tears as she is going through the same but none of us were aware. She's very private most of the time but is just so fed up with it all!

Favofit · 30/06/2024 17:18

We're on coQ10 as well, thankfully I found a cheaper one than the first brand. Using proceive max for more than six months for both of us. Once these run out it will be folic acid, coQ10 and Vitamin D only I think . And maybe Vitamin C.

I still can't believe how worried I was about getting pregnant when I was younger. No one taught me it could be thud hard

CarolCat · 30/06/2024 21:46

@Favofit @Daniki @RRAEE thanks ❤️ it's a shit old club to be in isn't it!
@Daniki bless your friend, it's so hard to share with people isn't it, especially if she's usually very private. I do talk to a few friends about it but don't know anyone in the same situation (that I know of anyway) to sort of support each other.

I started Ovum vitamins this year after using Pregnacare last year. Tried conceive plus lube this month as a friend fell pregnant after 2 cycles using it so thought worth a shot.

Currently got the usual spotting that leads up to AF, but still remain stubbornly deluded until it actually properly starts. Every month I want to give up but then ovulation rolls around again and I can't bring myself to actually skip it 😞

Daniki · 30/06/2024 21:57

@CarolCat aw I'm the same, il still test with the heavy spotting even the first signs of the real bleed 🤣🙈 I say the same with testing but if I don't test I don't feel in control.

@Favofit I think they're the most important ones anyway to be taking!

Baytreez · 01/07/2024 16:26

Hope it’s okay to hop on this thread! Just about to start trying for baby 2. DD took us 4 years to conceive and I’m now 36 with Turner’s syndrome, so I’m not hopeful. I’ve Started taking folic acid, CoQ10 and Zita West supplements, and cut right down on alcohol and caffeine, Meeting with my consultant tomorrow to talk through any extra tests needed and get bloods done. Due to come off the mini pill at the end of this week, and crossing absolutely everything that my period reappears and I’m still ovulating…. Planning to track ovulation and try the SMEP as a first step. Very grateful for anything else that anyone would suggest!

Daniki · 01/07/2024 20:21

@Baytreez sounds like you're on a good path! You never know it might all fall into place. When we first started trying for our son at age 30 it took us a year to get pregnant. Then we started trying for number 2 I fell pregnant twice straight away but unfortunately lost them. Coming off the pill you never know you could be super fertile! 🤞🏻

Baytreez · 02/07/2024 15:52

Thanks @Daniki! so sorry to hear about your losses xx

Marie1990x · 02/07/2024 16:58

@Daniki how did your doctors appointment go?

Daniki · 02/07/2024 21:20

@Baytreez thank you 🙏

@Marie1990x went really well, we will be starting the process now in a few weeks! You need to be on meds for a week before your period and mine properly started today so the ball is rolling anyway! 🙌 how are you getting on?

Eeeek that’s great news! Glad it was a positive experience and you’re on your way with it! Keep us updated 😊.

I’m getting on alright. In the TWW now at 7dpo. Hoping but not expecting much this cycle after my lazy ttc 😂 x

spamOFtheDAY · 03/07/2024 07:23

11DPO here and couldn't BE more negative 😞
Period due today or tomorrow so defo out.
A friend announced she's having her 3rd this year so she would have made 2 babies in the time I've been trying to make one.
Just feel so rubbish.
We have one more try before we have fertility tests at the end of the month so at least I feel we're doing something about it now.
This is all just so rubbish
😞
Hope there's some more positives on the group soon
X

Marie1990x · 03/07/2024 07:54

@spamOFtheDAY sorry to hear you got a bfn 😔. It’s so hard seeing all the announcements isn’t it. That must be awful knowing she’s conceived twice in the time you've been trying. Be kind to yourself and that’s great you have fertility tests at the end of the month.

I’m going to look up fertility tests today I think, no idea where to start!

Thanks @Marie1990x ❤️
I think today might be a self indulgent day and then I can be positive about the month ahead 😀

Daniki · 03/07/2024 11:16

@Marie1990x could be the one! 7dpo I'd be peeing on them sticks like crazy 🤣 yea it's nice to have a plan in place and that we won't have to be having sex like mad , imagine being excited about that 🤣 hopefully it works, it's a lot of money to throw away if it doesn't 🥹

@spamOFtheDAY it's very hard! But look with my only successful pregnant I didn't get a positive test until 12dpo and it was so faint my husband didn't believe me!

Marie1990x · 03/07/2024 12:10

@Daniki oh yeah I’m still going to be obsessively testing. But BFN so far of course.

Thanks to DD everyone in her nursery thinks I’m pregnant. Dropped her off this morning, she took my hand and went over to the worker saying “mummy has baby” whilst rubbing my tummy 😅. It was quickly shot down. She said all week DD has been baby obsessed. I must be rubbing off on her.

That’s great news ☺️ it is a lot of money but will be worth it in the end 🤞🏻.
Will be so nice not to feel the pressure of making sure you dtd at the right time etc.

@spamOFtheDAY definitely treat yourself today for sure!

YouveGotAFastCar · 03/07/2024 12:38

@Marie1990x I'm 7dpo too! Although trying to hold off testing until Friday.

My DS has told everyone he's getting a baby sister. I'm not sure he's told nursery yet, but I'm sure he will today. It's so awkward, isn't it 🫣

@Daniki Glad the appointment went well, best of luck for the treatment!

@spamOFtheDAY I'm sorry, that's really rough. A friend of mine is now trying for her third, she was telling me that they're worried about conceiving "too soon" on Monday and it was really hard not to wonder why she finds it so easy and I don't. But there we go. DS was a really easy conception, but this time has been a lot rougher.

This will be my first cycle after CP, so I should lower my expectations, but it's really hard!

Daniki · 03/07/2024 14:11

@Marie1990x omg stop 🤣 they can come out with the most random stuff like 🤣🤣🤣

Marie1990x · 03/07/2024 14:52

@Daniki honestly I wanted the ground to swallow me up 😂. I just looked at them and shook my head.

@YouveGotAFastCar haha always trying to embarrass us!
Oh gosh I don’t know how you have will to wait until Friday. No doubt I was still test after work although it will be negative 😅

ImAFluffyBunny · 04/07/2024 22:13

Hi everyone, I hope you don’t mind me hopping on to join in on the thread. I’m just coming to the end of ttc cycle 6 - been trying for baby #1 since January, af due tomorrow/Saturday and I’m feeling a little down in the dumps today. Not had any pregnancy symptoms this month so feel like I could be out. Just feel like I need to chat to other people who know where I’m coming from. Me and my other half are both 30, don’t drink/smoke and we just assumed it would happen pretty quick and still nothing - spent my whole 20s avoiding getting pregnant and now we want to it feels impossible!! 😩 I think I’m feeling a little put out too as my half sister announced last week that she’s pregnant with baby #6 with a fella she’s been with for just over a month. She drinks and smokes so I’m feeling like it’s all a little unfair (although I know this little one will be loved). I don’t really know my point to this post, just feeling a little down and needed to have a bit of a rant 🙈

Just wanted to add - I know 6 months isn’t that long in the big picture and there are people who are a lot further into their ttc journey than we are. I’m just having a little moment over here.

RRAEE · 04/07/2024 22:52

@ImAFluffyBunny rant away ! We all need time vent sometimes. Its hard when everyone around you is announcing or have had more than 1 in the time you have been trying.

Its a hard journey. We all know how it feels. Hopefully you get your BFP soon ✨ 🤞🏻

ImAFluffyBunny · 05/07/2024 10:26

@RRAEE Thank you. I feel silly and a little selfish having a rant about it but it’s nice to write it all out to others who understand. Thank you, hoping you get your BFP soon too!! 🤞🏻

RRAEE · 05/07/2024 10:50

@ImAFluffyBunny theres no need to feel silly we have all done it here. 😅 sometimes it gets a lot for us all.

Thank you. I hope so too 🤞🏻
