I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

Thanks ladies you are great to talk to! I don't talk to my husband about it as I can't watch him get his hopes up, I didn't even tell him about the possible chemical last month 🙈

TennisLady · 30/05/2024 11:10

Joining the thread, I'm almost 38, TTC #1 for 1 year and not a single BFP, not even a VVFL. Very regular cycles - to the point thinking of just giving up with the OPKs as they seem pointless now. I use Apple Watch to track my temps and all are as expected each month with that too.
Got told by GP 6 months ago that despite being over 35 in our area I still have to wait 1 year, which I'm now at so going to arrange another appointment soon.

LindyMoe · 30/05/2024 11:17

@LK2610 congratulations!!!

May I ask how long you were TTC? Trying to keep the hope alive 🙏🏾

Daniki · 30/05/2024 11:02

It depends they say can last up to 14 days but I had the half dose so should really be gone by 9/10 days after! 🤞🏻

That’s very exciting then! Have you retested yet? Got everything crossed for you 😊🤞🏻.

Marie1990x · 30/05/2024 19:28

Probably not the best choice in the TWW, but I’ve just poured myself a wine after a horrific night with a poorly toddler and a hectic day at work. Also looking forward to a night of not having to dtd after 6 consecutive nights 😂

Daniki · 30/05/2024 19:33

@Marie1990x I did I tested when I got home and it was basically negative, wish I didn't bother now so will see what the morning brings 😩 I'm very tempted to do the same with the wine tbh!😂

Honestly, I’ll probably get shot down for this comment, but do it! (If you truly think it’s negative that’s it). The day before I got a BFP with DD I was very tipsy 😅. Ofc I didn’t know I was pregnant and was testing negative that day, otherwise wouldn’t have.

Daniki · 30/05/2024 20:16

@Marie1990x i just did! I burst into tears there,I get so emotional before my AF and I got a giant spot on my chin so I know it's on the way 🥲

Marie1990x · 31/05/2024 06:40

@Daniki have you tested this morning? Hopefully the line with be back with FMU!

I’d been loosely tracking my bbt (more so after my opk to check it rises). It went up slightly yesterday but has shot up this morning. I had a couple glasses of wine which I know can change it, but that doesn’t usually affect it this much. It’s following the same pattern as when I got a BFP (I compare them to that as I know I must have ovulated). Hoping it means I actually ovulated 🤞🏻

Daniki · 31/05/2024 06:45

@Marie1990x yea just tested and it's negative so must of been trigger still. Will test again with smu as im usually luckier with it for some reason!
Ooh that's a good sign hopefully you have 🤞🏻

Marie1990x · 31/05/2024 09:31

@Daniki keep is updated. Hope it’s a BFP for you!

I don’t think I did ovulate, my OPK’s are getting dark again. Can’t cope with this

Daniki · 31/05/2024 09:36

@Marie1990x do you have PCOS? Might be worthwhile doing the day 21 blood test to check your progesterone levels?
So I tested again and there's like an absolute squinter, my head is wrecked! Similar to what happened me last month so either im out or it's a chemical I think 🙈 have an app today at 11 with fertility clinic to discuss IVF!

Marie1990x · 31/05/2024 09:46

@Daniki I can see it! Will they do bloods at your appt and check for any hcg?? I’m not surprised your head is fried.

I’ve been told I have PCO but not PCOS, but it’s looking like it could have developed to PCOS I think. I think next cycle I will contact the GP and see what they say/suggest. I don’t even know what I’d say, just call up and ask for an appt to discuss fertility?
OPK’s are usually really low until around my peak, I’ve never had this happen before 😣

Daniki · 31/05/2024 10:19

@Marie1990x oh that's so frustrating! I used this ovulation patch there one cycle it was interesting, you wore it for 7 days and scanned it twice a day with your phone. It detects your temp so it detects ovulation, it was interesting!

It's actually a zoom consult, I don't get bloods with my specialist I'm with now as he is two hours away! Just have to wait it out, it's frustrating because I'm on progesterone and don't know when to stop it 🙈

Marie1990x · 31/05/2024 10:27

@Daniki wow that does sound interesting! never heard of that before.

I’m going to keep tracking bbt and see if it continues to rise. Been doing some PCOS research and apparently the bbt is the best way to detect it. Will try dtd every other day too and if nothing then make a doctors appointment next cycle.

That’s annoying he’s so far away! Thank god for technology. Let us know what he says 🤞🏻

Daniki · 31/05/2024 10:30

@Marie1990x yea I think that's your best, every other day and hopefully you catch it 🤞🏻
Yea will let yous know how I get on!

FloofyBear · 31/05/2024 10:56

It took me over 2 years for each of my children, multiple miscarriages between. I was 36 and 40 when they were born.
I found agnus castus was great! It kickstarted my 14 month baron period where I literally had no signs of pregnancy, albeit periods ok, after taking the A Vogel tincture in water I had a pregnancy that miscarried and the next month I conceived my DD. I also tried high concentrations of evening primrose oil too, that's til ovulation (agnus castus is til positive POAS.
Losing weight is also powerful, or putting on a little if you're either too thin or overweight, oestrogen resides in fat so over or under weight can be an easy way to try to make hopefully positive differences
Good luck to you all

curliegirlie · 31/05/2024 13:07

@FloofyBear that's interesting. When I took AC when trying for my first it was up to ovulation....

It worked for me back then too - ended a crazy 146 day cycle (eventually ovulated on CD132 🤪). Although it doesn't seem to be doing much for me this time round - I've just ended cycle 30 or something equally crazy. I potentially had a CP this month but that may have just been line eye 😩.

Favofit · 31/05/2024 13:12

It's back to CD1 today for me sadly, I had no symptoms on the lead up to it. Trying to book an appointment for a Hycosy (missed the timeline last month) . I feel so sad and angry and fed up really. I've had a little cry already and probably will a lot more soon. I just don't understand why my body is failing me.

Marie1990x · 31/05/2024 13:15

@Daniki how did your consultation go?

@FloofyBear that’s interesting. I’ve never heard of the agnus castus will have to look into it!

@curliegirlie oh wow! Do you know what’s causing the long cycles??

curliegirlie · 31/05/2024 14:35

For me it was thyroid issues about a decade ago. I was put on Levothyroxine and have had sensible cycles ever since. I fell pregnant with my first 6 months after starting Levothyroxine (and agnus castus!)

ThingsLineUp · 31/05/2024 15:03

About 11-13 dpo here. Got a BFN yesterday and feeling lots of PMS and light cramping. Just need AF to start so I can reset, physically and mentally. We said we'd do some private testing next cycle, as it will be cycle 6, and I'm over 35 - I was thinking to go with Randox Fertility Health Test, has anyone else done that one?

@LK2610 Congrats!! Really happy for you!

Daniki · 31/05/2024 15:21

@Marie1990x it went really well, I feel more positive after it about whatever lies ahead so just trying to round up all the reports from investigations we have had so far to send to the new clinic to get the ball rolling 🥰

@ThingsLineUp I haven't used them but there's a lady on another thread I'm on that highly recommends them!

CoolSummer89 · 31/05/2024 18:06

Hello ladies, I remember a lot of you from the monthly threads! I took a break last month as the due date would clash with something important to DH. Now, I am in the TWW for Cycle #5 of TTC for #1.

DH is currently awaiting a SA referral because we think an op he had as a child might effect his sperm count. Until we get the results/next steps, we are taking every day as they come, and I'm trying to remain upbeat. I am 35 which seems to be the 'scary' number, but there's nothing I can do about that, so as Dory says to Nemo "you've just go to keep swimming". 🐠

@YaWeeFurryBastard very happy to see your BFP. I have noticed two things from my time on the Mumsnet forums, 1) people who set up threads to help others often get some good news themselves 2) when you are at your most fed up, sometimes it happens! Best of luck with the pregnancy, I know you are super conscientiousness, but please do keep us updated 🤗

Marie1990x · 31/05/2024 18:22

@CoolSummer89 I recognise your username, sorry it hasn’t worked out yet for you but it sounds like you have a plan 😊.
When is AF due?

@Daniki so so glad you’re feeling more positive after today! Hopefully it isn’t too long.

The thing that’s keeping me going is that if it still takes another couple of months then at least they’ll have a summer birthday 😂. DD winter and it would be so lovely to have a nice spring or summer birthday party 😅.

I know I’ve been banging on about my high OPK’s, but I’ve looked at my chart again from when I conceived and I’d noted that I had 3 days of high OPK’s after my peak, so given me some kind of relief 🤞🏻. When we conceived her we only dtd the day of my peak and the day after
