Anyone want to join? I'm going insane!! I'm not sure whether it's because it will be our last chance to have a baby in 2024 or that this is our 5th cycle so if AF comes it then marks half a year of trying, but I'm struggling this cycle. Need distraction! Lol

Welcome fellow twin @RainbowCrocs !

@MissEmily5 from my new hobby of searching Google relentlessly during every TWW I have discovered that your luteal phase always remains the same length (time between ov and AF). Mine is always 14 days. So last cycle when I ovd 2 days late (CD16), my AF started exactly 14 days after. So although that cycle was 30 days, the length between O and AF remained the same.

Hope that helps! Have a look back at your previous O and Af dates x

MissEmily5 · 10/04/2024 21:06

@ToeBeans24 wow- we have so much in common! 😂That’s one of my favourite bad habits/hobbies too! You can tell when it’s the TWW as my phone activity percentage goes way, way up! 🙈 soo… checking back on my notes and going off ovulation pains and OPKs, I’ve only had a 14 day luteal phase once back in February, the rest have been 12 or 13 days. This is going from October as I started using OPKs then, well I started in September with the strips and had no clue how to use them properly so I’m disregarding that month. In November I didn’t get a positive OPK and this month I haven’t either (well not a peak anyway! But I didn’t test twice a day when I hit high fertility). So maybe that’s why I suffer with thin endometrial lining… not that the FS said to do anything at all!

sirensong · 10/04/2024 21:07

I read somewhere about the luteal phase always being 14 days too. Because my last period started 16 days after the clearblue static smile LH surge positive I'm wondering if I actually ovulate two days after the surge, not the one day I've been assuming and that they claim.

ToeBeans24 · 10/04/2024 21:13

That’s interesting @MissEmily5 . Some people have a short luteal phase of 10 days. The shorter ones can make implantation harder (not impossible!) as if it takes 9-10 days to implant and your body is getting prepared to shed its lining etc. Not that yours is short! But just from my researching that’s what I’ve found.

Maybe your luteal phase isn’t static at the mo if you’re not always ovulating? Keep up with the OPKs though if you can as that helps to pinpoint when and if to have ovulated.

How many DPO are you now?

MissEmily5 · 10/04/2024 21:15

@sirensong yeah that’s plausible with it being later than your static… it’s just that mine would be the opposite way around, my ovulation would have to happen before my static/peak result- I start testing rather early on in my cycle and I get negatives or flashing smiley faces and then my static, so I don’t know how that would work🙈

Plumchumm · 10/04/2024 21:20

I’m eating like a horse but also feel nauseous. I’m only 1dpo. 😂

sirensong · 10/04/2024 21:21

Interesting. I wonder if your surge happens really rapidly - overnight or something. Have you ever done a progesterone test 7 days after estimated ovulation?

ToeBeans24 · 10/04/2024 21:29

@MissEmily5 I think @sirensong is correct. I know you mentioned testing twice a day but sometimes a surge can happen so quick it may be that it’s missed?

MissEmily5 · 10/04/2024 21:36

@Plumchumm i’m very much like you- It doesn’t matter how sick or ill I am, I will never lose my appetite 😂

@sirensong I did a Proov PDG test cycle back in January (I’ll attach my results) which stated that I did definitely ovulate. I did the test cycle because it was something I was super worried about and I couldn’t manage the stress of BBT which is what I did in December. I think I do have quite a quick ovulation pattern and I most commonly get my peak tests in the evening! If I didn’t test twice a day I think I would miss it- which is why I’m hoping this month I just missed it. I really hope the doctor can shed more light on it but if the FS didn’t seem to say much then I doubt the GP will!

MissEmily5 · 10/04/2024 21:40

@ToeBeans24 @sirensong unless I’m getting my peak well into the evening after I’ve done my second test… which would explain how I could potentially miss my peak, but how would it explain the months were I get my static? Oh it’s all so confusing!

@Hopethisendswell just seen you message! Thank you for your kind words and hope 🙈 I’m a teacher and back at school tomorrow so I’m sure I’ll be busy to put it out of my mind for a while, plus I have parents evening till 7 so that might actually help with distracting me tomorrow 😂

Hahaha food is life.

I bought some pdg tests for this cycle, hoping to confirm my ovulation with the progesterone tests too. I’ve never done it before

ToeBeans24 · 10/04/2024 22:34

I’ve never heard about home progesterone tests! Is that what they are @Plumchumm ?

Ontheflipside_ · 11/04/2024 05:44

This is super interesting. I was convinced my lining is on the thinner side/ progesterone slightly lower also. I had no idea you could do tests at home! I'll definitely look into that next cycle.

I had a scan at cd16 this month (actually the morning after my static smiley) and my lining was 7mm. Which from what I've read just passes muster for what you need.

My sonographer also recommended bloods to check iron and thyroid as I was anemic after birth and even with transfusion I still only got back up to borderline. I never knew low iron could affect fertility either!!

I've been 'womb warming' this month as I heard that's good for addressing blood flow to your womb to help thicken. Also heard acupuncture and castor oil packs are helpful to thicken

Have a great day @MissEmily5

How's the holiday going @sirensong ?

I'm learning so much about hormone levels, cycles (and pandas) on this thread, thank you 🤗

Ontheflipside_ · 11/04/2024 06:36

Off to a wine bar tonight so thought I'd test. BFN

@ToeBeans24 the pinching sensation sounds promising. I unmistakably had that the cycle I conceived. Also super interested about the luteal length thing…. *goes off to overanalyse all her data * 🤣

@Ontheflipside_ still very early though! Enjoy your wine tonight, it won’t make or break anything 😊

ok I’m also going to scurry off and look for home pg tests! Which are you using @Plumchumm ?

I’ve reached 7dpo, feels like it’s been about 4 years since O… although now I’ve convinced myself I’m out because I think we messed up DTD timings I’m actually getting to the point where I don’t want to test because I know it’s going to be neg and I can’t face how upset I’ll be 😵‍💫

anyway I’m def not testing till Monday at earliest. I’m going away for the weekend somewhere quite remote so I physically won’t be able to buy any tests 😂

Hopethisendswell · 11/04/2024 07:50

BFN here too. But early days (9dpo). Have a great time tonight @Ontheflipside_

Had my post ovulation headache last night...which only happens about 4dpo 🤦‍♀️ what's the chances I ovulated late/twice and we've been DTD the whole time 😳

Hopethisendswell · 11/04/2024 07:52

Did you plan your trip away based on test availability? @Sarah268 😂that would be a great marketing tool for holiday companies!

Good luck to everyone testing today xx

Ontheflipside_ · 11/04/2024 08:02

Thanks ladies! I didn't get my bfp until 10dpo last time. I'm convinced something is up this month though as my cervix was so high this morning I couldn't even find it. And it is NEVER high or soft on cd25!! I also just don't feel like my period is coming, but I have been known to get them randomly without any prior warning 🥴

ToeBeans24 · 11/04/2024 08:18

@Ontheflipside_ i think my lining is thin too as my periods are only 2 days maybe 3 max then spotting. Altho what’s giving me hope is my older sister only had extremely light periods (lighter than mine) and had just had a baby!

Headache this morning too @Hopethisendswell god knows what’s going on!

My Fitbit heart rate is up 1bpm this morning. Hoping the dip the last 2 days was implantation but it’s never gone down after ov, only usually up

Im testing tomorrow at 9dpo. Hopefully it’s just too early for you @Ontheflipside_ @Hopethisendswell !

Ontheflipside_ · 11/04/2024 08:21

@ToeBeans24 mine were lighter before I got pregnant first time (3 days, 4 max) and they're now 4/5 so I really don't know if there's any logic. Good sign about your rhr though!

Considering I started off not bothered either way, I'm really invested in getting a BFP 😅

Louki35 · 11/04/2024 10:56

Hi Ladies!
Can I join? According to my app I’m 3dpo, its so confusing is ovulation just classed as the one day or the whole bunch of days you could conceive?

I’ve also been tracking my ovulation, I used up a last test for the fun of it last night and the two lines were still clear as day, how can this be?

Is this everyone’s first pregnancy?

🤍😊🫧

Sarah268 · 11/04/2024 11:05

@Louki35 welcome :)

Ovulation is just the day you release your egg, but your fertile window is a the few days before and day after ovulation. You are still fertile then as sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days I think.

In terms of your ovulation test strip, that's difficult to know. I'd say if you can still see two lines but the test line is relatively faint then that is normal. Did you see a peak (very strong) second line just before the day you think you ovulated?

Are you 3dpo based on what your app tells you rather than what your opk strips have suggested? It could be that your actual ovulation day is later than the app thinks.

Sorry I also don't mean to overload you- this whole process is pretty mind boggling!!

Sarah268 · 11/04/2024 11:11

I've also always had very light periods (3-4 days including spotting) and assumed my lining must be thin too.

I conceived last cycle but had a MC at 6.5 weeks which obviously doesn't bode well for me having a good lining but thinking about it- if it was at 6.5 weeks I assume the lining was ok for the embyro to embed into. The issue with the pregnancy happened later on (caused by something else??)

Tbh I think it's best I don't think about it too much! From my crazy-lady researching, light periods are normal!
