@mlruirod You still get a positive with a chemical but it’s faint and starts fading away soon. Bleeding is then the same as a period.

Thank you, didn't know. I stopped taking pregnancy tests as I was going mental and was testing even before my due date because of spotting, the following months after my MC, so I've never experienced this.

emmatcc1 · 02/03/2024 13:07

@mlruirod Yeah many have a chemical pregnancy and don’t know because they don’t test and their af might be late by a day or two.

Figtree11 · 02/03/2024 15:07

Hi @jellyfish2 I’m glad you are feeling a little better today. And happy birthday for yesterday! I think it’s so hard having an idea in your mind of how things will turn out, and having certain timelines. And then when it doesn’t happen it’s difficult as you always compare to what you had planned.

It’s difficult to keep up with everyone’s stories - I had a MC in November. I was 10wks, but the baby was 8wks and I had medical management. I’ve been trying again since. But only had 1 period in that time. It’s been 6 weeks since my last one!
When was your MC?

Ella31 · 02/03/2024 15:18

Claudiasaz · 01/03/2024 16:27

@Westy22 I read into Maca and some people said it messed their cycles up so given my current track record I'm reluctant 😂

Heard the same thing @Claudiasaz

Ella31 · 02/03/2024 15:25

jellyfish2 · 02/03/2024 10:07

Yeah I completely know how you feel, it's such a strange feeling.
I'm feeling a bit better today thanks. Yesterday was my birthday and I think I was just thinking I should be pregnant etc. Also it just felt like the pregnancy was well timed as it was the age gap I was hoping for between the baby and my little boy and now it's going to be bigger. I think I just thought about everything yesterday and being another year older which might make things harder.
It doesn't help I've not had a period, don't know when I'll ovulate or if I have. It's just all getting to me as I want to be pregnant again. Sorry for the rant! Are you trying again? When was your MC? Sorry I must have read it but I struggle to keep up sometimes.

Sorry you are feeling down jellyfish. You will ovulate before your period so you may have already.

Ella31 · 02/03/2024 15:26

mlruirod · 02/03/2024 12:22

Hi, can I ask how you know if you have a chemical miscarriage?

A chemical is very early loss and you still get your normal period but will possibly bleed again after.

Ella31 · 02/03/2024 15:28

I'm 4dpo. Went to the beach today where our wedding venue was. Had a serious cry as we sat watching the waves. So surreal to be in our happy place and yet be so lost. Also saw a woman getting a hot chocolate with her toddler called Dara which is one of my twins names. Made me realise what I'm missing.

jellyfish2 · 02/03/2024 15:33

@Figtree11 thank you. Yeah it's amazing how much you plan everything out in your head when you find out your pregnant and then it's all taken away so suddenly.

I was 12 weeks and baby measured 8 at my scan so I had surgery at the beginning of Feb. How long was it before you got that first period? Were your periods irregular before?

@Ella31 thank you - I just wasn't sure if I'd have ovulated with HCG still in my system so it would've had to have happened sooner than 2 weeks after my surgery which may be too soon? I've been testing since and nothing, like I say no other signs either.

Figtree11 · 02/03/2024 15:46

@jellyfish2 it took me 8 weeks to get my period after the MC. I still had HCG in my system for a good few weeks.
I’m not really sure what my normal for periods is. I was on the pill for about 12 years, and came off last summer to TTC. I got pregnant within 3 months & only had 1 period in that time.
I’m wondering whether to make a GP appointment seeing as I’ve had no regular cycles.
I’m hoping your period returns soon, or you get a BFP before it comes! Waiting for it to arrive feels like a lifetime

I’m so sorry @Ella31 that must have been so tough today 😔

It took me 9 weeks to ovulate after my emergency section. But what is a fact is you can get pregnant without a period. I did straight after my chemical with my twins with no period in between

Remind me @Figtree11 how long ago was your loss,? Is it possible you are still getting back to normal after it. It's such a nightmare though.

@Ella31 were cycle buddies - I’m also 4DPO.
when are you due AF? I’m due around 13th March

Oh @Ella31 I'm so sorry, that must've been really difficult for you. Hope you're ok.

@Figtree11 it may be that it's just your body hasn't went back to normal after being on the pill for so long. When I came off it the first time, I had about 3 months before I got pregnant and they seemed to be quite regular in that time. Mixed in with the miscarriage and getting pregnant quickly it might just be taking longer for you. You should contact your GP to ask, even if they say it's normal it'll give you some reassurance.

Figtree11 · 02/03/2024 16:55

@Ella31 it’s just over 3 months since the MC. Feel like you read you will be most fertile after, but it doesn’t feel like that will be the case. I know in the grand scheme of things 3 months isn’t long, but it feels like forever.

@jellyfish2 yeah I thought I might give it a few weeks & then give them a call. I’m sure they’ll say 3 months isn’t long and it takes a while to normalise. But I just had in my mind that it wouldn’t take too long, and that hopefully I’d have a baby by Christmas. But time is running out for that to happen!

I really feel for you. I can't even imagine how it must feel since you MC was so close to the due date and after also holding your other little baby. My MC really knocked me down and it was only at 12 weeks. I have been crying at films, adverts, people in the street etc since then and it's been 2 years now. I think it affected me so badly because it was our first baby and we had TCC for 2 years so we were very excited. Could you remind me when your MC was? How do you cope at home seeing their nursery, if you don't mind me asking? I just can't even start imagining how you may feel 😔

My sons werent miscarriage. They were stillbirth and neonatal death, not miscarriage, though i had two mc before my boys and were utterly horrible, so pleaae don't say you were only 12 weeks, it was a terrible loss for you too and im sorry you experienced thisxxx hope you are ok. Crying is normal.
My sons died on the 7th and 10th November just gone.

Am, coping wise I'm ok. The nursery was painful to go into the first time after their deaths. I just keep it closed now, I'll go in again when I'm pregnant again. Its been a difficult year and a half for me. I've been pregnant three times in 9 months and sadly lost all of them but particularly my twins who were almost full term. My tests have come back perfect, no issues, so hopefully I'll conceive again this year but we'll see.

Sorry, I have just realised I asked for your MC but don't know why as I knew it wasn't one. I think it's because of being used to talk about losses on that way.

That's been a really tough journey for you. Sometimes it feels so unfair, even more when tests come back all fine. Could be egg quality a problem? Our tests all came back fine but I think that would be my issue. The reason why I think this is because my AMH test came back slightly low for my age (I'm 36yo) meaning that I have lower egg count than I should so I'm also guessing the quality of my eggs may be slightly lower. I bought the book 'it starts with an egg' and I'm trying to do things they advise in there to improve egg count and quality. At this point I think I would try anything to increase my chances

Dont be sorry at all. No worries.

No not worried about egg quality, my pregnancy was excellent with the boys, perfect scans, they were a good weight. No identified defects. my sons died from ttts (twin to twin transfusion syndrome), it's a twin condition, very rare. Just bad luck unfortunately, it only effects identical twins with one placenta. They were perfect when they were born. Everything intact, it was just that horrific condition.

I'm not concerned at all about issues, I'm just dying to become a mother again with living children. I'm 33, not exactly young but I'm not too worried about that.

You know it very well could be stress affecting you. I know after my losses I became consumed by getting pregnant.

Thank you for sharing the issue you had, I didn't know anything at all about that condition. I'm sorry luck has not been on your side when TTC again, but I'm sure you'll get there very soon! 🤞
I have definitely thought about stress affecting me, and just not only because if the MC but work related stress too. I have decided to take things very easy at work now that im about to start IVF and hopefully that will help too

That's really exciting about your ivf. I've seen so many success stories. How are you feeling about it? Have you other kids?

Ncl31 · 02/03/2024 19:18

@Ella31 I’m going to test the morning of 11th March as I fly to Cyprus on that day. I’d rather know if I’ve got a faint positive by then so I know to definitely avoid alcohol. Otherwise if it’s negative I’m going to try to limit the alcohol until either AF comes or a BFP - I’ll be taking tests with me.

Blueskies4 · 02/03/2024 21:48

@mlruirod thank you, 🤞🏻🤞🏻 for lots of positive news this year!

@Onthedouble123 how lovely it’d be to find out at 4 months now wouldn’t it! The uncertainty is killer!

Ooh fab. I'm testing next Friday.
