TTC in 30s

Who else is trying to conceive in their 30s? I am trying to conceive number 2 and I am rapidly approaching 35. Had my first at 31 who I conceived easily but since having her my cycles vary from 28 to 34 days and I now get spotting a few days before my period. I am about to start the 3 month of trying and I am starting to get in my own head that my hormones are not where they need to be

I had my first early last year just before I turned 31. We’ve been actively TTC #2 for a couple of months but my cycles are a bit irregular currently. They always used to be 28 days but now they’re ranging from 28 - 32, which isn’t a crazy difference, but it’s tricky to know when ovulation actually happens. Hopefully we’ll get positive tests soon 🤞

ToeBeans24 · 01/02/2024 21:20

Hey! I’m 33 and ttc number 1!
cycles always been 28 days until last month when when it was 33 but I was sick so think that delayed ovulation.

im now 2dpo in cycle 1 😬

ToeBeans24 · 01/02/2024 21:21

Also OP I’ve always had spotting before my period. For years. From mid 20s so don’t worry!

Choc29 · 01/02/2024 21:30

I'm 30 and ttc my first. I'm currently on CD12.

m00ngirl · 01/02/2024 22:27

I'm the same age as you @Mummysparrow and still TTC my first... 🤞

Mummysparrow · 02/02/2024 09:52

@m00ngirl how long have you been TTC?

@ToeBeans24 oh that is good to know, it is always hard to know with spotting whether to be concerned or not. Any chance you have a cat or dog with your username being toes beans? 🤣

@Richie23 it's crazy how things can change so much after having a child. I miss my 28 day cycles, at least I knew where I stood.

It appears AF has arrived for me. Though there was a good amount of blood (not spotting) and then appears to have stopped again. But what concerns me is that it is really early. It makes the cycle 26 days. Since TTC my cycle has shortened and I am unsure as to whether I should be concerned. I found a discount code for Hertility fertility test so I have ordered one of those to see if anything obvious sticks out.

@Mummysparrow I'm 35, turning 36 on Sunday and had my first when I was 31.

I've got very short cycles (23 days) and started trying for a second in September. Found out this month that I'm pregnant - I hope that gives you some reassurance.

I found using the clear blue opks really helpful, as due to the short cycles this time I was ovulating much earlier than when I was trying for my first (day 9 instead of day 18!).

Good luck!

Jadex92x · 02/02/2024 10:02

I'm 32 this year and ttc baby 3 , cycles always 28 days, a little different in Nov as had a MMC . I'm 6/7 dpo just now 🤞

Louloubaker · 02/02/2024 10:33

I’m 30 TTC 1. I’m CD8 so let’s hope this month is our month!

m00ngirl · 02/02/2024 20:36

@Mummysparrow 7th cycle, and the past few cycles I've done ovulation tests etc. this cycle I've done EVERYTHING right, stopped drinking etc. but don't feel at all preg (CD26). Going to gp if/when AF comes...

Fingers crossed for you 🌸

Mummysparrow · 02/02/2024 20:59

@m00ngirl how many days past ovulation are you? Are you going to test? Fingers crossed for you

m00ngirl · 02/02/2024 21:08

@Mummysparrow I'm 8dpo and stupidly tested this evening 🤪 and it's the purest negative possible! The sensitive easy@home test as well. Really feel like breaking my dry spell and having a stiff drink....!? But feel bad? It's like your body is owned before you're even pregnant. Keep trying to make all these good choices but then get brutal AF every month. Feeling v hopeless about it all.

Mummysparrow · 02/02/2024 21:13

Not going to lie but I am currently drinking wine 😂 I have to be dry for 9 months of pregnancy so I will enjoy a wine whilst I can 😂 I tend to only have a glass or two at the weekends so not a big drinker but a glass is my reward for surviving work for the week😂 I tested at 8dpo and 10dpo. Not sure why I did 8dpo but I was hoping for a positive at 10dpo 🫣

m00ngirl · 02/02/2024 21:44

Good for you! 🥂 I've heard some people have a bleed when AF is due that stops and they're pregnant, I'd prob do a cheap test if I were you just to see, then again I do too many 🙈

Mummysparrow · 02/02/2024 21:47

I knew I should have bought some cheapies. Maybe I will have to pick some up in Tesco tomorrow 😂😂

OP posts:
Mummysparrow · 03/02/2024 10:41

I caved and tested again at 13dpo and still negative 🤦 going to buy some cheaper tests for next month

I feel like a sitting duck at the moment. Not pregnant but got to wait for period to start. The spotting has stopped and I normally get spotting a few days before period so I could be a week off my period yet

EllieFxOx · 04/02/2024 19:41

Hi! I'm 32 and this is our first time trying to conceive. On my first cycle day 17, just entered into the two week wait. Not wanting to share too much with family and friends and it just feels a very lonley time. How do you pass the time before finding out!? Not expecting it to happen straight away but there's always hope

m00ngirl · 04/02/2024 21:25

@Mummysparrow I'm in a similar boat - light bleeding - but I know I'm coming on my period so stopped testing. Quite intense cramp for 2 days. I read online that spotting before period can be a sign of low progestorone (which I have all the other symptoms/causes for as well..) - might be worth keeping an eye on that.

@EllieFxOx welcome! I'm mid 30s, TTC for first time, just finished another failed cycle (7). The TWW bends space time, I know the dragging feeling..! No solutions here but keeping v v busy at work helps a little bit. I also know the lonely feeling, which is why I loiter on here 🤪 you're not alone x Good luck x

Mummysparrow · 04/02/2024 21:27

@m00ngirl I have read that too. I am considering trying to eat foods that apparently help with progesterone and perhaps try a test I can get online. Me and hubby don't want to have to try IVF etc to get pregnant but I would consider progesterone supplements if needed

Hi everyone, hope you don’t mind me joining!
I’m 32 and TTC my first. I had a MMC in November, and had 1 period since then. I’m tracking ovulation but doesn’t seem to be peaking.
Trying to DTD every 2 to 3 days regardless, but the not knowing what is happening to my body is driving me a bit mad!

Mummysparrow · 05/02/2024 14:42

@Figtree11 hi 👋 how often are you testing and what tests are you using? I peak really quickly so I don't always catch the top of my peak but as soon as I see some kind of rise I just make the assumption I am ovulating the next day.
My period has finally decided to start, or at least it appears that way, if it doesn't get scared away again. So on to cycle 3 of trying. This is unknown territory for me as I conceived 2nd month with my daughter.

Figtree11 · 05/02/2024 14:55

Hi @Mummysparrow im testing twice a day using easy at home. I had been testing first thing in the morning, as I’ve since read you’re not meant to do! And then in the evening. Hoping I have ovulated & just missed it but who knows.

Fingers crossed this cycle is the one for you. Before my MC I had only been off the pill for about 3 months & only had 1 period in that time and didn’t do any tracking. I wish it felt as simple this time around!

Mummysparrow · 05/02/2024 14:59

@Figtree11 I just seem to test a few times a day near ovulation time 😂 early afternoon and evening appears to be the best time. Sorry to hear about your MMC, how far along was you?
The funny thing is with my daughter I thought it would take ages so wasn't prepared for how quick it was. I suspected it would takes ages this time but I kind of hoped it would be quick like before.
I think all the spotting last week really threw me as although I normally spot just before my period this was more than normal. I think I need to get my stress under control and eat better and hope for the best.

OP posts:
Figtree11 · 05/02/2024 15:29

@Mummysparrow thank you, I was 10 weeks but had stopped growing at 8 weeks.
Its difficult isn’t it when you get it in your head that it will happen at a certain point & then it doesn’t.

I’m the most impatient person ever, and similarly I feel I need to manage my stress around TTC better! I want to step away from OPK testing & worrying but easier said than done!
