Who else is trying to conceive in their 30s? I am trying to conceive number 2 and I am rapidly approaching 35. Had my first at 31 who I conceived easily but since having her my cycles vary from 28 to 34 days and I now get spotting a few days before my period. I am about to start the 3 month of trying and I am starting to get in my own head that my hormones are not where they need to be

I'm 40 and conceived my first at 39. I tracked my periods/ovulation on 'Pink Pad' it's a great app, it told me the low, medium and high chance days of conceiving. We were pregnant after only 3 months ! Hope it all goes well x

Mummysparrow · 03/03/2024 16:26

9dpo and I caved and did a cheapie pregnancy test which was negative. I am starting to feel less optimistic

m00ngirl · 03/03/2024 20:08

@Mummysparrow I feel for you - 9dpo is early though, there's still hope! I'm about to come on my period and am also feeling sad about another month with no pregnancy. Starting to think something is seriously wrong as I've never conceived. I don't even feel positive about the idea of getting pregnant now whereas I was so excited and even fulfilled at just the idea of it when we started actively TTC. It's just all a source of stress and worry now. Fingers crossed for you.

Mummysparrow · 03/03/2024 20:15

@m00ngirl oh no. How long have you been trying for? Have your partner had any tests done as it may not be you?
I have told my husband if we don't conceive this month I am cleaning his diet up and putting him on fertility vitamins 🤣

m00ngirl · 03/03/2024 21:42

@Mummysparrow 8 months TTC, and haven't been on the pill for over ten years so fair few occasions I could have gotten pregnant before actively TTC. DH is getting tests now too but I don't think it's him, it's me. Still good to put them on a bit of a health kick though ☺️

Mummysparrow · 04/03/2024 06:37

@m00ngirl you never know, it might be him or you may both be fine and it's one of those things.
10dpo today and did a clearblue digital and it says not pregnant. I got a positive at 10dpo with my daughter so looks like I am out this month. On to month 4

It looks like I have got my BFP. I woke up with horrendous indigestion so decided to test again and there it is at 11dpo.

Yaaay congrats @Mummysparrow !!

Kaleidoscope2 · 05/03/2024 09:29

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind if I join in. I'm 34 and TTC no 2. We fell pregnant easily with our first and didn't really put any thought into it. This time round I've had to put in steps to get my periods more regular and stimulate ovulation again, I have PCOS and was having periods without ovulation for some time. The last few months I increased my daily exercise, started taking supplements to manage my insulin resistance in PCOS and other symptoms and reliably had 2 periods in Jan and Feb with ovulation. This ovulation window romance was out the window and we DTD several times (every other day then on ovulation day and one before and after everyday) and I've just taken an early detection test which is positive. I'm not getting my hopes up too much yet in case it's a false positive but this is the closest we have been. We started properly trying Jan this year and the few months tail end of 23 I spent getting myself healthier as id got into bad habits with stress and not taking care of myself. Wishing you all the best in your journey!

Massive congratulations on your BFP!

@Kaleidoscope2 it sounds like a positive step to me so enjoy the positive and try not to worry. Any pregnancy symptoms?

Thank you! I'm only 7dpo so literally 5 days before my period. I don't feel any different yet and I have nothing to compare it to either as I wasn't testing this early on last time. I'll do a few more of the strip tests ahead of my period and then if my period doesn't arrive commit to a clear blue. I've attached a crop shot of my test, and it looks positive to me and appeared ahead of the 3 minutes and then got a little darker so don't think it's an indent.

I can't count it's actually 8dpo today..my husband said the same re twins 👀👀 will have to wait and see if this is a proper positive when I hopefully miss my period before I get my hopes up too much!

Mummysparrow · 05/03/2024 10:57

I have no idea when my period is due as my cycle differing every month so I have taken my 11dpo positive as a positive 😂 let's hope they stick for us

@Mummysparrow congratulations on your BFP!

m00ngirl · 05/03/2024 23:57

@Mummysparrow WONDERFUL news, congrats!!! Good thing you had that glass of wine when you still could 😂 so lovely to expand your family - and just in time for Christmas. Great news ❤️❤️❤️

m00ngirl · 31/03/2024 12:14

Felt really positive this month, boobs big etc, but have just come on v painful (as usual) AF. So no Christmas/2024 baby for me. It's so exhausting.

I've got my first fertility appointment (just phone appointment!) in about 5 weeks. Everyone says you need to relax for it to happen but the harder it gets, the more worrying and stressful the whole situation is.

Nice to see so many of the 30s ladies here get their positives though.

Fairy0708 · 31/03/2024 12:37

I'll join! Also TTC number 2 and moving I to cycle 9 😞 I had DC1 when I just turned 32 and he was convinced miraculously on cycle 1! I've just turned 35.

I had blood tests, AMH test and a scan, DH had SA and all seems ok.

My cycles also changed as soon as we TTC, i started spotting around CD25/26 when my cycles were usually 27-29 days. I had a random cycle where I had pink spotting around ovulation (never happend before in my life) and another cycle where AF stopped for a day in the middle and started again. I honestly believe it's all been down to the stress of TTC... Now I've tried to relax they seem to have settled.

m00ngirl · 01/04/2024 13:07

Fingers crossed for you @Fairy0708 . At least you've done it before so you very likely can again! I also started getting weird mid cycle bleeding etc in my 30s.. think it's an age thing!

Mummysparrow · 20/05/2024 16:18

How is everyone? Unfortunately I am going to be back on the TTC train again soon. I had bad news last week and my baby is unlikely to survive pregnancy as the heart is struggling so I am about to have a TFMR and I am absolutely gutted. So once my period is back I will trying again

I’m so sorry to hear that 😔I’m also back on TTC soon. I got pregnant again following my first MC in November at beginning of March. Found out at my 12wk scan that the heart stopped 2 weeks before. I’m coming up to 3 weeks post surgery now. I’m in that limbo of waiting for my period, but being petrified of getting pregnant again & having a 3rd loss.

I really am so sorry you had bad news - it’s the worst feeling in the world. Sending you a hug x

Mummysparrow · 20/05/2024 17:59

@Figtree11 I am sorry to hear your news too. It's horrible isn't it. I went to my 12 wee scan and the baby was measuring a bit small so they assumed I got my dates wrong and went back last Wednesday to find out that there was a NT measurement of 5.6mm. 2 days later I was seen by fetal medicine and it was bad news as baby has a severe diaphragmatic hernia with the liver pushing the heart to the side and causing it to struggle. There is also a single umbilical artery and skin edema so the odds are not in the baby favour. I have opted for medical rather than surgical because I want a postmortem and genetic testing. I start the tablets tomorrow and I am scared shitless.
I hope your period returns soon. I have heard it can take 4 to 6 weeks so hopefully it comes soon for you xx

I’m sorry @Mummysparrow that sounds awful.
I had medical with my first MC, although baby was measuring 8wks so smaller. It was difficult but it didn’t last too long & recovery was good. I hope it goes as well as it can for you. I’m guessing you’ll be in hospital for it? You should be able to get decent pain relief there compared to doing it at home.
With my first MC it took 8 weeks to get a period so expecting similar this time x
