TTC in 30s

Mummysparrow · 01/02/2024 21:06

Who else is trying to conceive in their 30s? I am trying to conceive number 2 and I am rapidly approaching 35. Had my first at 31 who I conceived easily but since having her my cycles vary from 28 to 34 days and I now get spotting a few days before my period. I am about to start the 3 month of trying and I am starting to get in my own head that my hormones are not where they need to be

Hey everyone - joining here as I’m 33 (34 next month) and about to head into cycle 2 TTC #1. I’m currently 10dpo, waiting for AF to arrive, due on Weds. I’ve taken a million tests this month, all early detection and all very negative. Work has been the most stressful it’s ever been, I’ve had tonsillitis and now a cold b2b, so trying to get healthy ahead of next cycle. Ordered lots of supplements and doing Pilates to try to relax. It’s a lonely slog isn’t it, all of my friends are pregnant or have kids already… really hoping it happens for us soon 🤞🏼 what’s everyone doing to maximize their chances? Do you drink alcohol or has everyone given up? Xxx

Mummysparrow · 05/02/2024 20:39

@Llr2023 I am about to finish antibiotics for tonsillitis and chest infection and also got a stinking cold so I feel you. I took a promotion after coming back from maternity in 2022 and my new role is a lot more stressful and I am so aware about stress affecting fertility. I am trying to do meditation but I am really slacking as I am just tired in the evening. Pilates is a good shout though. What supplements are you going to try?
Nope I still drink, I only have them a glass of wine on Friday and Saturday and with my job I don't intend on dropping the wine until I have to 😂 I have heard omega 3 is good for fertility so going to take that. I already take iron, vitamin d, magnesium and folate.

So much illness going around atm isn’t there. I hope I’m at the end of it now and better for next cycle.
I’ve been taking pregnacare for the last month or so and have just started taking COQ10. I’ve got a Wild Nutrition fertility support and omega3 arriving tomorrow. I think I should take magnesium too - I’ve got a spray, I wonder if that’s the same thing?
I always want to try meditation but I’m the same as you, I get distracted and end up giving up and scrolling on my phone. Just being thrown endless fertility ads on instagram gaaaah. maybe I’ll try this evening…

Ncl31 · 05/02/2024 21:34

I’m 32, 33 in a few weeks.

TTC #1 - DH has a son to a previous relationship.
Had 1 BFP which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage on Christmas Day. Currently 8DPO in first cycle since mc.

Ravenclawlass · 05/02/2024 21:57

Hi I’m 32 and I’m Tcc1

came off the pill and am having really really light periods with spotting a few days before.

last month in January my LH was only high for a matter of 3 or so hours - I only got one positive ovulation test

this month i had 24 hours with one large spike before my peak and subsequent drop.

im hoping that’s a sign my cycle is starting to return to normal!

baby dust to you all ladies!

Mummysparrow · 06/02/2024 20:46

My period is taking it out of me today. The pain is going up the right side for some unknown reason 😭 thankfully it should finish or get fairly light tomorrow.
I am not taking at pre natals just because I am on iron supplement which has loads of vitamins and folate in so I think I am covered there. I may look at fertility support though.
I have started to watch fertility vlogs on YouTube today, no idea why 😂😂
@Llr2023 I did some fertility yoga this morning before work at home 😂😂
Welcome @Ncl31 @Ravenclawlass 👋

@Mummysparrow I'm 8dpo and stupidly tested this evening 🤪 and it's the purest negative possible! The sensitive easy@home test as well. Really feel like breaking my dry spell and having a stiff drink....!? But feel bad? It's like your body is owned before you're even pregnant. Keep trying to make all these good choices but then get brutal AF every month. Feeling v hopeless about it all.

This exactly how I feel! I'm going on month 11 of trying so I've not been dry for the entire time but the TWW every month I don't over exercise, i don't eat any foods that can be bad for pregnancy and I obviously dont drink, so for nearly 50% of the last year I've felt like my body isn't my own and so far it's been for nothing. Currently 2dpo so the 2 week helplessness has begun!

ToeBeans24 · 26/02/2024 14:43

I had a BFP last month (1st month ttc) and was elated. Only to suffer a chemical at 4w6d. It’s been very difficult. But I’m in a better headspace than I was last week and excited and hopeful to try again this cycle.

currently only CD7 though so a while to go!

Ncl31 · 26/02/2024 15:22

@ToeBeans24 sorry to hear you had a chemical, it’s good that you’re feeling in a better headspace though. Hopefully you get your sticky BFP soon.

ToeBeans24 · 26/02/2024 15:34

Thank you @Ncl31 ! It was honestly awful. Physically it was just like a regular period but for a week thinking I was pregnant and both OH and I getting used to the idea and chatting about it to then it all going away so quickly was emotionally very traumatic.

im now full of anxiety like will I get pregnant again. If I do will it happen again. Really feel the innocence and excitement of it all has been tarnished 😞

Ncl31 · 26/02/2024 15:49

I had an early miscarriage on Christmas Day. We had 2.5 weeks of talking about it and getting used to the idea. Then it was suddenly taken away. I know exactly how you feel.
life had one period since then and I’ve just got my peak today on my OPK with EWCM yesterday so I’m hoping a little eggy makes its way out over the next 24 hours

ToeBeans24 · 26/02/2024 15:56

@Ncl31 Oh my goodness Christmas Day 🥺. Mother Nature can be amazing and so cruel.

im keeping everything crossed for you. Please keep me updated !

Ncl31 · 26/02/2024 16:00

@ToeBeans24 oh yes very cruel indeed.
fingers crossed for you too.

LiIacMoon · 26/02/2024 19:06

@Mummysparrow don't feel discouraged.

I have pcos so know all about whacky hormones out of sync with the body.im 38 and currently expecting my first

Mummysparrow · 27/02/2024 10:47

Thankfully my Hertility results have shown hormones to be normal, but my AMH is high which could be a sign of PCOS but I have no symptoms so should be ok.
4dpo and I have a metallic taste in my mouth today which I had at a couple dpo with my daughter however I did see the dental hygienist yesterday so not sure if it is to do with that so I am trying not to get excited.
Sorry to hear that @ToeBeans24 @Ncl31 😞 hopefully this is your month
@BeWiseZebra I have come to the conclusion that although I should be wary about some things in the 2ww, I am not prepared to build myself up and cut things out when I may not even be pregnant. So I still had a glass of wine at the weekend and will stop once I get my BFP. I don't drink loads but look forward to wine on the weekend. I am so going to miss wine and gin when pregnant 🤣

Currently 30 ttc baby 3 which will be our last . I had my first at 19. Second at 24 and will be 31 with the last. My eldest will be 12 🫣

m00ngirl · 27/02/2024 13:53

My Hertility was all ok too @Mummysparrow , now waiting for GP fertility blood test results too.

I've had spotting since CD 21 and still going on now (I'm on CD24) with light cramp... was getting a bit excited about the possibility of implantation bleeding but are the dates off? We DTD CD 12, 14,15,16, 20, 22.

Not sure if/when I ovulated this month as clearblue digital only gave me a negative on CD 15 and flashing smiley for five days CD16-21 and I ran out of strips! I think I'm going to bin that bloody thing.

My boobs normally swell before my period but nothing yet... v confused.. I live in hope but it actually sounds like my hormones are just totally off balance. Will be furious if this is the start of a period just three weeks after my last one.

Sorry for the overshare. Fed up of this tbh!

Mummysparrow · 27/02/2024 14:02

Ooohhh what are your doctor's testing for? I haven't bothered going to my GP as I know they will just tell me that I am early on in my TTC and to have patience.
Its really annoying not knowing when you ovulated isn't it. I thought I had missed it this month and I randomly did a LH strip on Thursday and it was positive and then I got ovulation pains on Friday. I just use the easy@home ones.
I would say if you have only just ovulated then the dates will be off as it is a bit early to have implantation bleeds. Is it possible you ovulated before cd16? I got a LH positive cd18 this month but last month it was on cd14.

Just found out my sister in law is 2 months pregnant. We were pregnant at the same time with our daughters and I have no idea how long she has been trying for. I am so happy for her but also makes me feel sad that I didn't know she was pregnant and that I am not pregnant (or at least not knowingly). I wouldn't say I was jealous though.
I have heard beetroot juice helps implantation so I am off to buy some 🤣🤣

Conceived at 34 first time, we used fertility lube ovulation sticks, Flo app and had sex a lot. Second time we fell pregnant first time, just used Flo again to know the window and I had some lube leftover from last time, had sex once. Couldn't believe it. I'm 36, DH 39.

m00ngirl · 27/02/2024 20:33

@Mummysparrow I don't know what the blood test is for exactly, I'll let you know if I find out, but because I've never conceived it's the first step in checking it out. Yes SO difficult when you don't know when you've ovulated and tricky when it moves, as yours did!

@lpylu that's incredible and may give some of us here hope (though some of us might wonder why it's not so easy for us!). Congratulations 🥂

AliceMcK · 27/02/2024 20:39

I had my first at 36, conceived within 3 months, 2nd at 38 conceived in 2 months and third at 42 I think it happened the first time we had sex haha

Id always been irregular with periods. My GP at the time told me the best way to conceive was to have sex daily, so we did. I think the first time we had a break because we were knackered and that’s why it was longer to conceive.

I’ve often wondered if I conceived easy because I hadn’t been on the pill or any other contraceptives other than condoms since my early 20s.

Mummysparrow · 27/02/2024 20:59

I conceived 2nd month of trying with my daughter after stopping the pill 6 months previously and I had been on it 12 years. I was expecting the pill to have ruined things and take ages to conceive. I knew it may take time now I am 34 (approaching 35) but at the same time I hoped it wouldn't take long. I have told hubby that if I don't conceive this month then I will be changing his diet and we will be having more sex and that saying he is tired is not an excuse 🤣
Congratulations @lpylu that's amazing
