Ladies - this is a bit off topic but I know this thread is so helpful.
I've had 3 losses in 6 months as a lot of you know. I was also made redundant at the end of last year - just a few weeks after my first loss. It's been a really rough time.
I've now found out I'm pregnant and am 5 weeks tomorrow, whilst at the same was invited for a job interview this week for a great opportunity - and it's all looking very positive. I may start next week.
I just feel really guilty. They're not a big company and so I feel guilty to start with them and know I won't be there for the long term.
What would you do?
Can't even work out if I'd be entitled to SMP. I think I would, but actually the govt website is suggesting I'd be able to claim for maternity allowance - Which I guess I would feel less guilty about as then I'm at least claiming from the govt and not from my employer (I know they claim back but I also know it can be a lot of admin!)

Ugh, feeling stressed ... thanks for reading this far! x

Congrats on pregnancy and defo take the job! You will still be there for 9 months give or take so it's not like you're leaving straight away.
We have to be selfish in these things, I started a new job aswell after redundancy and also was worrying if I fell pregnant when i started(no joy so far) but decided I wouldn't out it on hold cuz god knows how long it will take!
Try and enjoy it and don't be worrying 🥰

JC084 · 07/02/2024 12:07

@Daniki @Lalaland13 @Fullofconfusion thank you all for replying. I think I know that you're all correct and I should just go for it. I worry too much and overthink these things when sometimes I guess you just have to put yourself first and do what's right for you! I'm sure (at least I hope) they will understand should we reach that point 🤞🏼

RoseH36 · 07/02/2024 13:34

@JC084 don't let anything put you off. Without sounding negative here, anything can happen so you don't want to live with any 'what ifs' if you don't go for you. Even if you don't qualify for SMP you'll get maternity allowance so you'll still have some income, you just learn to adjust. I'm self-employed now so will only get maternity allowance and will only be able to afford a couple of months off but I'll make it work.

@Sarah295 4 months in the grand scheme of things is hardly any time trying at all. It can feel very frustrating though after quick pregnancies in the past. You're certainly not alone on that front in this group.

@Lalaland13 my chemicals have all been like my usual periods but that's not to say it will be the same for you. Tests wouldn't keep showing negative if you were pregnant though unfortunately 😪 you could well have had others, that's the thing when we all test early, we re aware of what's going on but lots of women wouldn't have a clue.

Teela86 · 08/02/2024 09:18

7dpo and I'm going a little crazy trying not to symptom spot which should be easy as I don't have any. I'll just keep overanalyzing my bbt chart instead!

jellyfish2210 · 08/02/2024 11:24

I feel like I need to join an addicts anonymous group for poas. I'm just starting the TWW and have told DH to hide my supply of tests as it's getting a bit ridiculous how addictive it is and how desperate I am to see two lines!!

I'm going to try really really hard this cycle not to start testing until AF is actually due. This is cycle 13 for us and I have a hycosy booked for before OD next month. I was really really hoping I would be able to cancel it.

AF due 22nd according to Flo but will likely be later than that. I had a short cycle last month following my CP so that's skewed my data.

I hereby solemnly swear I will (do my best) not to poas until at least the 21st....🙄

Daniki · 08/02/2024 12:32

@jellyfish2210 oh I hear! I try and be relaxed and then 7dpo(today) hits and I'm like a crazed animal looking for the tests 😂

Had my app today with specialist so all my bloods etc look fine, AMH is slightly lower than average but still ok and vitamin d on low side. Husbands sperm analysis all good too.

Recommend some lifestyle changes, husband quit smoking, me to lose 10 pounds and to have more sex. He was like no one can predict when the egg realises quite testing and just have sex regularly. Said I defo need to destress, which I find impossible to do! But feeling optimistic after it that there's nothing majorly wrong.

Daniki · 08/02/2024 12:33

Also said my progesterone is low so even when in letrozole it was low so he's switched me to tamoxifen and will do the follicle scanning and trigger shot then. Not going to do it for this cycle coming but the next one, I work in a school and the following one falls in line with Easter break 😂

TTCUKBaby1 · 08/02/2024 15:05

Hello folks!

Mind if I join in this thread? I'm 36, TTC 18 months and just been referred for IVF. Hubby and myself are giving it a damn good go while we are waiting 😀, hoping it will happen naturally. No apps, no checking dates or ovulation test as all that was just stressing me the f**k out. Only plan is doing the dance 3 times a week. Currently 9 DPO, really fought the urge to poas as I am sure you all know how heartbreaking that blank white is... but found some in the house yesterday and literally cannot stop myself! Why is it so hard not to?!? Anyways BFN this morning, will see what tomorrow brings.

Wishing all you lovely ladies a good month. 🥰🥰🥰 Xxx

For those that havent been preg beyond 20 weeks..

Part of it means u get 6 months free preg tests and ovulation tests

Incase it interests any1

Thanks so much for sharing this. I went for my first visit today, you get paid £35 a visit but probably the biggest financial benefit is the free tests. You get 18 OPKs and 12 pregnancy tests.

I was there for an hour and a half. Had a pregnancy test, some blood work, LOADS of blood pressure measurements, my arterial stiffness (!) measured, body composition done and then I had to do some light steps to get my heart pumping.

They have bases in Cambridge, Glasgow and London but I think are opening new sites soon. They were delighted to hear I had heard about it through Mumsnet and asked me to spread the word.

Welcome @TTCUKBaby1
I'm out this cycle after having an early loss and taking a break,
Hoping to restart efforts after this period, trying to eat well and drink no alcohol but I hate winter and all I want is junk food and a glass of wine?

TTCUKBaby1 · 09/02/2024 08:15

Thanks @SouthwestSis .

I am so sorry to hear about your early loss. Hope you are doing as OK as can be.

My advice would drink the wine (make sure its a huge glass) and eat the food while your having a break! Life is hard enough without our little comforts. You have had a tough time hun, be kind to yourself. Can always draw a line and re-set when it's time to try again. ❤❤

JC084 · 09/02/2024 08:26

Thanks all for the advice re: the job. Verbally accepted yesterday and just waiting for the official offer to come through. It's been a full on week!

Going to call and book in for my early scan today - makes me nervous as I feel like previously, every time I booked in for my booking in appt then I got bad news. However, my tests have progressed really nicely and so I am keeping everything crossed that this one sticks

See below for this mornings test

Hope everyone is doing ok

Hope you're doing ok. I'd say have the wine and treat yourself. A little in moderation won't do any harm

Lalaland13 · 09/02/2024 09:08

Crikey after saying not much bleeding, it’s so bloody heavy now. Filled a tampon in an hour and a half and was all over my knickers … TMI sorry, probably not that big a tampon! My temp has dropped right down too the last two nights, kind of pleased the things i think are meant to happen are. Off our to a toddler class soon, dreading it as the heavy bleeding is bad!

I find it so hard not to drink wine when trying @SouthwestSis … good on you if you can but don’t make life too boring. Hope you get your sticky bean soon xx

Fullofconfusion · 09/02/2024 09:19

@SouthwestSis definitely drink the wine! If you’re having a break take full advantage of it. You deserve to have a treat after a rough time.

@Lalaland13 i hope the bleeding settles down soon. Enjoy toddler class.

@JC084 wow that’s a really good strong line! I’ve got everything crossed for you. I’ve continued testing too. I feel so sick. I’m full of cold which isn’t helping but the nausea has hit big time. I’ve not told my partner yet. I was waiting for the weekend when I could show him a proper digital test so I reckon he thinks I’m being very dramatic over my cold!! He said it must be man flu….he's not wrong!

SnookyPook · 09/02/2024 10:18

@Lalaland13 sorry to hear that but I guess it's also good in a way as you don't want it all dragging on. Just a note, I'm pretty sure when I was having my losses I was told pads were preferable to tampons. Not sure if it's something to do with infection risk etc but I feel like I remember being told to avoid tampons. Might be worth checking or getting some heavy duty pads in. 💕

RoseH36 · 09/02/2024 11:40

@Lalaland13 hope you're ok. I was told the same as @SnookyPook, you need to use pads not tampons. Hope it doesn't stay heavy too long for you.

@JC084 totally understand your concerns, I've not booked an appointment yet either. In my mind as soon as I have a date for that it becomes real and will be on my mind, I've been managing to stay fairly relaxed so far. Going to call them on Monday and try and book in for the following week. My DS nursey is term time only so he'll be at home next week so can't go for a scan then. On our way home from Butlins so will test this afternoon, last did one on Monday.

Lalaland13 · 09/02/2024 15:24

Ohh okay - thanks @SnookyPook @RoseH36 have just changed to pads but wow they are filling up quick but don’t usually use them so not sure what is normal. Better to be safe to than sorry! Am all good, pleased things are happening as they should. Hope you’re okay too and have a super weekend! Impressed with the not testing @RoseH36 xx

RoseH36 · 09/02/2024 15:28

@Lalaland13 oh bless you 😪 it's such a crap thing to be going through. Sending you lots of hugs. Hopefully this initial heaviness will ease off after a few hours.

Haha thank you, I've been impressed with myself too 😂 I did a test literally as soon as I got home though. I was tempted to pop into town yesterday to get one but resisted until we were back, thought I'd be best sticking to the same brand.

Lalaland13 · 09/02/2024 19:35

Haha I bet the temptation was strong! So pleased all is going well !! Hope butlins was fun! We haven’t ever been to one but I think we may try one soon xx

RoseH36 · 10/02/2024 08:13

@Lalaland13 it was ok but i expected a lot more entertainment for a Tots break than there was. A couple of days there wasn't much going on at all and there's nothing to do in Minehead this time of year. I would go again or try one of the others but not for a themed break as they all mainly out of season. Probably a very different experience in summer.

worldwidetravel2017 · 11/02/2024 07:46

Sorry to hear re losses

Yes - i was also told pads not tampons
