No been TTC 7 months and I’m 37, so this is first visit to GP and she didn’t seem concerned as I’m very regular, she said to wait a year before they can refer me.

Tempted to just pay for private tests now.

Def wise to pay hertility health

Would be very helpful for you to know your amh

They test / look @ , about 9 things

Drs can't do amh in primary care

Id do HH privately

And - ask nhs gp for prolactin blood test , feretin , b12 and vit d.
^ all those are important in conception

After u have all above results - id ask NHS 4 transvaginal scan 2 check 4 fibroids / rule out structural

worldwidetravel2017 · 18/01/2024 15:13

Many recommend the ' it starts with an egg book '

Is your bmi normal/ good ?

worldwidetravel2017 · 18/01/2024 15:15

Being v regular is good
But equally that alone doesnt rule out various things

For 40 gbp u could buy a super drug progesterone test
And do that 4 - 5 days after ovulation

Or ask nhs gp 4 - day 21 progesterone test

How does everyone feel about the potential of a Christmas baby if you conceive in a couple of cycles time? I'm debating whether to stop that cycle or not 😬

RoseH36 · 18/01/2024 18:29

@EvelynKatie I'd ask for a second opinion, it should be 6 months for over 35s.

@Hannah156 when we conceived my son it would have bothered me but now I couldn't care less if when it's born or if its a multiple birth as long as its healthy. Although the way things are going I honestly don't think we'll be blessed with another.

Hannah156 · 18/01/2024 18:41

This is true, I'm leaning towards the same thinking but my birthday is 28th December and was always so rubbish. But I think if we put off trying I'll always wonder 'what if'.

CatCaretaker · 18/01/2024 19:22

@Hannah156 I see where you're coming from but it's so unlikely that we'll ever get a BFP that I'm not taking a month off, because knowing our luck that would end up being the lucky one.

CatCaretaker · 18/01/2024 19:24

@worldwidetravel2017 I've ordered some zinc, and have had all the tests that you mention above, except for progesterone. I asked the fertility clinic about it and they just said, no, if the doctor hasn't asked for it then it's not necessary. If I have no other hormone or nutrient issues, thyroid, prolactin, etc., is there much liklihood that progesterone levels are a problem?

Hannah156 · 18/01/2024 19:34

How long have you been trying? So sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. Xx

Bumblebee413 · 18/01/2024 19:52

If we had conceived on our first cycle, the due date would have been the 25th December. I remember feeling a little nervous about it, but also figured it would be a great excuse to have a quieter Christmas and that we would be so happy to have a baby that it wouldn’t really matter that much. Ten months later and not even a hint of a baby. Had the same dilemma over my best friend’s wedding but again, that was a worry over nothing.

However there is nothing to say that you won’t be lucky x

Gp would very likely offer you a progesterone test if u asked.

Many people with miscarriage history, have progesterone help next time and then a baby

Hannah156 · 18/01/2024 20:35

You're right, you just can't predict these things and if we are lucky enough to conceive then that will be such a small thing. X

@Hannah156 I think @RoseH36 has summed up how I ended up feeling after my losses too. As long as baby arrives healthy I really don't care any more what date they choose! I probably wouldn't have 'chosen' an August due date in an ideal scenario in terms of school readiness/youngest in year group etc, but I'm just feeling so hopeful and grateful that this one could be our rainbow baby that I honestly don't care anymore!

P.S. I'm Dec 29th so do feel your pain! We have loads of December birthdays in our family! But there are things I do love about my birthday being around then too. It is what it is I guess!

P.P.S. my Sister thought she'd done well with her first who was due 29th Jan and therefore avoided the December cluster... My niece arrived 6 weeks early on 20th Dec!!

RoseH36 · 18/01/2024 21:03

@SnookyPook that's the other thing, they can come early so no point trying to avoid certain months. My friends was due last January and he came before Christmas at 4 weeks early.

I was hoping to avoid a Feb birth as we've got loads in both mine and DH families so when my due date was March I thought that was great, he came a week early so ended up being another Feb birth 😂

Hannah156 · 18/01/2024 21:18

Yeah you're so right! I do like aspects of my birthday too, like always being off work (I'm a teacher). So yeah, what will be will be. We have to count our blessings don't we.

Lalaland13 · 18/01/2024 21:39

I don’t think a Xmas baby would bother me! I didn’t want to have one same month as my sons bday - as didn’t want to overshadow … but hey! At this stage take any old due date!

In the TWW at the mo, given up symptom
spotting now… I never know wtf I feel like and just leads to disappointment! I think am 6 DPOish?!

New Apple Watch arrived today - very good deal on … dealmonday but it came from HK… still it’s seems to work !! Been on bit of a spending spree lately 🤦‍♀️ treating self as
i gusss going to be working for longer than planned! New sunnies arrive tomorrow! Cheering me up though! Xx

Sara1988 · 18/01/2024 21:52

Hi all! 35. Month one of ttc. Always had a regular cycle and then the minute we start ttc I ovulate late and partner starts getting performance anxiety! We managed to dtd three days before od so just a waiting game.

Thank you all for sharing your stories and I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. Fingers crossed for us all this cycle.

Hannah156 · 18/01/2024 22:00

I'm 5dpo so not far off you! I've been having cramps ever since 2dpo but trying so hard not to symptom spot, and everything online says that would be too early to be implantation so who knows, the wait is so hard! What day will you test on?

Hannah156 · 18/01/2024 22:01

It's so difficult with all the pressure, my husband also gets performance anxiety, it's so much pressure.

Sara1988 · 18/01/2024 22:04

He's being amazing. I feel so bad for him. I told him today that my body had performance anxiety too! That's why my ovulation was late. It's just less obvious for us.

Have you found anything that helps?

Bumblebee413 · 18/01/2024 23:16

Welcome @Sara1988 . I’m 8 DPO, month 10 of TTC at 35(for one more month) with a 3 year old. We haven’t managed to try every month as DH was away for six weeks at a time, but he’s been home for good for 2 months now, so hopefully that will up the chances somewhat!

I’ve got my typical pre menstrual sore boobs but have been extremely emotional the last two days, which is usually linked to tiredness and I am, but, it does feel a little more than usual. So, I’m also entering my crazy phase of the cycle 👍 Going away skiing with friends in two days, so we’ll see how it all pans out 😂 Excellent distraction if AF comes though!

Mum37of4 · 19/01/2024 00:57

Heyy 👋
Not TTC however OH didn’t pull out when DTD sat eve (13th) - no idea when ovulated but I know Monday I had bloods done and LH was 0.74 - no idea if that’s high or low or means ovulation ?? Anyways - since Tuesday I’ve had mild cramping, headache last night, mild back ache, twinges and tugs in pelvic region and constipation (all things I get right before AF due) - I’m on CD17/18. I’m going to test next Friday anyways but honestly what do yous think? Could I be pregnant?
