Hello,

Would anyone like to join a thread for TTC after ectopic/miscarriage, or when facing other challenges eg age, PCOS etc? DP and I have just decided to try again for no2, and I'm going to come off the pill. It would be nice to have some buddies to share experiences and support each other 🙂

About me:

Pregnancy 1: conceived first cycle age 35, healthy pregnancy, DS born summer 2021 (now age 2)

Pregnancy 2: conceived first cycle age 37, ectopic, surgery November 2022

My plan is to eat well, exercise, cut out alcohol, and generally look after myself.

Because I got pregnant quickly both times, I'm hoping our chances are still good...no idea how only having the one fallopian tube is going to affect things 😬

I think I'll do OPKs but not sure about temping yet.

Would love to hear from others!

Thanks @Bumblesbee84 it is indeed!

@YellowZ @MrsB2019x - all sounds positive! Sending good vibes. The tests looks strong and I hope any or no symptoms are OK to cope with.

Had a fiddle with the belly button and one stitch fell out! One of the two remaining on the right appears to have fallen out in the night. I do think the longer they’re in the better the healing. The left wound is a little wider and looks like it would need future protection from sun. Still small nonetheless !

CatCaretaker · 06/01/2024 16:14

@Joonbug23 completely with you on the frustration. I foolishly thought it would be faster too. We're now on cycle 8, ovulation day will be in the next couple of days (LH test this morning was negative). I'm going to try to think positively, but it's hard!

Really happy to see those with BFPs are getting on so well!

snowitall · 07/01/2024 10:08

Hi all, home from surgery to remove right fallopian tube. All went well and other tube looks good. I have to tell you though, I had always thought I’d do an elective c-section when the time came but this much more minor abdominal surgery is making me rethink that! I can’t imagine having a newborn and presumably an even more painful recovery.

Bumblesbee84 · 07/01/2024 12:40

@snowitall well done for getting through it, hope you're able to rest and take it easy for a few days now? Good to hear the other tube is looking good.

MrsB2019x · 07/01/2024 13:00

@snowitall Glad it’s over with and hope you have a speedy recovery x

YellowZ · 07/01/2024 16:21

@snowitall glad you're home and doing OK! Nice that the other tube looks good 👌🏼 urgh yes I think it takes a while to feel normal after a C-section, I definitely wouldn't chose it. I was was walking around easily immediately after giving birth.

@Stategigi I don't really notice my scars now. You would have to examine my belly button pretty closely. The other ones are still a little pinkish, but very discreet really.

Can confirm C-section recovery is HARD! I think they will put me forward as a candidate for elective this time round rather than VBAC though

Nic2908 · 07/01/2024 20:24

@snowitall i too concur that a c section recover was hard core. However, I’m defo going for an elective section if I make it to term again. I delivered my daughter vaginally after miscarrying at 16 weeks and I can’t even imagine doing it again. I was diagnosed with ptsd and it’s taken a while to feel normal again. I went into survival mode in March and I don’t think I ever came out of it.

MrsB2019x · 07/01/2024 22:27

@Nic2908 That sounds so unbelievably tough. I’m so sorry 💐
Elective sections are so calm and controlled that they are generally quite a pleasant experience (I personally have only had an emergency but I used to work in a maternity theatre doing electives sometimes)

snowitall · 08/01/2024 09:28

@Nic2908 I’m so sorry that sounds awful. How are you now? X

YellowZ · 08/01/2024 13:02

@Nic2908 💐sorry you had to go through that x

@Nic2908 so sorry to hear you had to go through such a challenging experience and with long-standing consequences. Hopefully one day you can look at it and be so proud at your resilience. They say the toughest are challenged the most (even it it doesn't feel like that)! Hopefully one day soon you'll start to feel more like yourself again. Must be hard that these are often such private battles.

@snowitall hope the recovery quicks in quickly and you're relieved from your pain.

Nic2908 · 08/01/2024 21:53

Ahh thanks lady. On the whole i am generally good. I’ve taken my time to heal. It’s been 10 months that I have waited and I’m glad I have.

how is everyone getting on this month?

Bumblesbee84 · 09/01/2024 09:09

@Nic2908 I'm so sorry you went through such a trauma. Glad that you're feeling in a better place now. Will this be your first month trying again?

I think ovulation is a day or two away for me. DH is away with work so we'll probably miss it and I'm feeling a bit flat/hopeless/fed up with it all. I feel so aware that a loss could just happen all over again. I've had 4 pregnancies and 1 DC. The stats are meant to be the other way round. I think I'm feeling sorry for myself, sure I'll bounce out of it in a day or two! But it's hard.

Hi everyone,
I’m in the TWW… Ovulated around 3 Jan and managed to DTD on the right days before and after. I have a short luteal phase (10-11 days) so should start seeing some spotting by the end of the week if I’m unsuccessful again this cycle 😣
I’ve seen a tiny amount of brownish mucus but nothing to give any clues yet. I have PCOS and have never managed to get pregnant so I can’t actually imagine it and have no idea what it would be like to see a BFP…

Edited

I spoke too soon… I have a pain in my left side and have just noticed some light bleeding. Looks like AF is on the way again. It’s so hard to keep going with this sometimes.

CatCaretaker · 09/01/2024 18:23

@bethhop85 I completely understand, as I'm exactly the same. Have never had a BFP and can't even imagine what it would be like. It starts to feel impossible doesn't it?

bethhop85 · 09/01/2024 20:53

I completely understand what you mean, @CatCaretaker . Really sorry that you’re going through this too 😥It definitely feels impossible sometimes! I can’t believe how hard it is to get pregnant. I wonder what the odds are each cycle at my age (38)? Feels like the odds are stacked against me but I’m trying so hard to keep the faith. I would love to be a mum (to somebody other than my cats!)

Nic2908 · 09/01/2024 20:59

@bethhop85 we we’re supposed to start last month put my cycle went bat crap crazy so it was written off!!

could it be implantation bleeding?

@bethhop85 @CatCaretaker i have everything crossed that you get to experience it soon!!

@YellowZ @MrsB2019x how are you both doing? How are your lines looking?

CatCaretaker · 09/01/2024 21:10

@bethhop85 I'm 38 too (just) and being given the eye by my cat right now for disturbing him by getting up to make tea 😊

@Nic2908 thank you! I hope your cycles settle down soon so you can start!

MrsB2019x · 09/01/2024 21:15

Thanks for checking in @Nic2908 ☺️

For whatever reason I decided to do another test this morning (5+6) and I’m happy with it. Don’t think I’m going to get a dye stealer but I’m okay with that. Scan is next Tuesday 😬

How are you doing lovely?

TTC after ectopic/after loss/older age etc ALL WELCOME 🙂
Hannahbally · 09/01/2024 22:06

Hi. Please can I join.
I'm new here. I'm 44
Pregnancy 1 son 2007
Pregnancy 2 ectopic with tube removal.
So I came off all contraception in 2008 and was actively trying with ex husband. He talked me out of getting any investigations and it never happened. Forward to now I'm with an amazing man and we'd love one of our own. We've been together 3 years and it hasn't happened yet. We are going to speak to the Dr about getting checked out. I've just ordered a bbt thermometer to hopefully get a clearer picture. It's been a long time since I've done that.
So anyway hi!

CatCaretaker · 09/01/2024 22:12

@MrsB2019x looks great to me! What's a dye stealer (excuse my ignorance!)? Fingers crossed your week goes quickly before the scan.

MrsB2019x · 10/01/2024 07:05

@CatCaretaker It’s when the test line is darker than the control line rather than the other way around. Have attached one I got when pregnant with DD. I’m sure it doesn’t have any bearing on how successful the pregnancy will be but it’s just nice to see lol

TTC after ectopic/after loss/older age etc ALL WELCOME 🙂
Bumblesbee84 · 10/01/2024 07:28

@Hannahbally welcome! Getting checked up def sounds like a good idea. I've had 3 losses (1 before DS and 2 after) so we've decided to get some private tests done to see if anything is going on as GP had said I'm not eligible as they've not been consecutive. Sending you baby dust!
