Hello,

Would anyone like to join a thread for TTC after ectopic/miscarriage, or when facing other challenges eg age, PCOS etc? DP and I have just decided to try again for no2, and I'm going to come off the pill. It would be nice to have some buddies to share experiences and support each other 🙂

About me:

Pregnancy 1: conceived first cycle age 35, healthy pregnancy, DS born summer 2021 (now age 2)

Pregnancy 2: conceived first cycle age 37, ectopic, surgery November 2022

My plan is to eat well, exercise, cut out alcohol, and generally look after myself.

Because I got pregnant quickly both times, I'm hoping our chances are still good...no idea how only having the one fallopian tube is going to affect things 😬

I think I'll do OPKs but not sure about temping yet.

Would love to hear from others!

@overthinkersanonnymus I'd definitely be calling that as an early bfp...if I hadn't had my own run in with easy@home evaps recently. There's some threads about bad evaps ATM too. Have you got another brand to try? Or even an OPK? It's agonising isn't it.

Hiii, I'd love to join this thread if that's ok, seems like a super supportive group.

I'm just coming out the other side of medical management for my second miscarriage in 4 months. DH and I are keen to start TTC straight away, i.e. in the next week or so. I'm 39 (and a half!) and super blessed to already have a DS who is nearly 2. Very conscious my eggs are probably not as good as they were (although did have MMC before DS as well) but feeling emotionally ok to just crack on. Aargh. Lots of luck to everyone on this thread, and congrats on the bfps! x

Hello @Oxalis00 ah thank you. That's reassuring. I have been telling myself it's much more likely it's because of being on the pill than anything bad going on - but definitely good to hear it's not just me. Interesting about deciding when CD1 is. I'm going to count it from today, but then if I ovulate later than expected, keep that in mind for the next cycle.

Eek @Annonomous29 I feel like that's gone quickly (it probably feels like aaaages to you). Sorry you're still not feeling 100%

@YellowZ
Hey no honestly i feel the same maybe coz i am feeling quite chill about it also been too busy with the kids being sick

overthinkersanonnymus · 04/12/2023 07:43

I was fooled again 🫠

Anyone else who has a previous DC and a tracking app keep looking back at what your symptoms were before?
I've had really bad back pain the last couple of days- I'm 8dpo - and noticed that I had back pain last time.

However I'm starting to feel really demoralised by TTC. My husband keeps telling me "we've done it twice, we'll do it again" (one was ectopic). I used to get excited by testing, but not I just don't want to as I know it'll be BFN. We're only on our 5th cycle, and it took 6 for our daughter at 35, so I know it's still early, but I feel that with my age (38) just the one tube and my hormones being not quite right (I think I might be starting perimenopause). I spoke to the gynae about checking my remaining tube, she said since it looked healthy when I had my ectopic she wouldn't recommend an invasive procedure until we've been trying for a year.

Oxalis00 · 04/12/2023 10:01

Similar story here @Confusedddddddd in that I’m 38, TTC number 2 with a 3yo, and worrying about what my hormones are up to after MMC earlier this year. I know it’s easy to worry about everything and anything after a loss, especially a traumatic one like a ectopic. What makes you think you’re starting perimenopause? Has GP offered any support/investigations with that?

Confusedddddddd · 04/12/2023 10:14

@Oxalis00 Sorry to hear about your MMC.

I'm thinking I might be in perimenopause as my luteal phase is getting shorter. It used to be 12-13 days, now it's 9-10. Also I've been having frequent night sweats.
I haven't been to the GP yet. I have a prolactinoma that I am on medication for, and I want to see my endocrinologist before I go down other routes, and he doesn't have appts until the new yr. As if that's out of whack then it'll affect my hormones, however I've been on the same meds for it 10+ years and it's been very stable. So I don't think it is that, but I know if I see my GP they'll want that to be checked first. When I was first diagnosed with it my estrogen was literally 0, and I hadn't had a period in years, whereas now my periods are very regular other than the slowly decreasing luteal phase.

Part of me thought it'd be quick this time, when I conceived DD, I had a 10cm cyst and was told it'd be impossible to conceive from that side, and then the ectopic was an accident/1st time. The cyst was removed with the ectopic and I ovulated from that side for the first time in years this month.

I'm 8dpo today and really feeling like AF is about to start today for some reason, which is earlier again. Cramping, feeling exhausted and sweaty. And feeling very demoralised.

Oxalis00 · 04/12/2023 10:45

Gosh sounds like you’ve been through some struggles @Confusedddddddd - I can imagine the worry the cyst and prolactinoma must have brought. Really hope things brighten up for you soon. Though cramping at 8DPO could be a good sign?! My luteal phase seems a bit shorter now too, with spotting before period, so I have wondered about that. There’s always so many questions!

YellowZ · 04/12/2023 12:33

@overthinkersanonnymus oh no 😥hmm... I am definitely chucking out all my easy@home hpt. Sorry - hope you're not feeling too down.

@Bumblesbee84 hello. Sorry to hear about your miscarriages. We're a similar age (I'm 38.5) and also have a 2 yo DS. I've just been reading 'it starts with the egg', have you read it?

@Confusedddddddd I'm using a different app, but recorded loads of detail last cycle so I can compare. So will definitely be looking back for differences, I think! Hang in there, like Oxalis said, it might not be your AF 🙂

I've just submitted an econsult form to my GP surgery to see if they'll do bloods etc... at 38 and 1 tube down, it seems like a good idea to have a check-up. Hopefully they'll agree and the results will be OK.

Bumblesbee84 · 04/12/2023 14:04

@YellowZ thanks so much. Sorry for your loss too. A few people have mentioned it starts with the egg...tbh I'm almost scared to read it/try anything new and I'm not really sure why. Maybe I should just download it and read the first few pages as a start! Are you finding it helpful? I've asked my GP for a thyroid function blood test as I've got family history of under active thyroid so thought was worth checking!

Vic231 · 04/12/2023 16:44

Hi ladies, sorry I've been a bit quiet for a while, it was my daughters 1st heavenly birthday recently so I was staying off my phone, keeping busy and celebrating her with friends and family and it really helped me mentally ♥️ I'm still here though and hoping you are all doing ok!

YellowZ · 04/12/2023 16:49

@Bumblesbee84 it was an interesting read. Not sure how much of it I'll implement - there's a lot that's about specific conditions which didn't apply to me, so I skipped through lots of that. I've decided to get fancier pre-natal vitamins, an antioxidant, and omega 3 supplements. I was already using ubiquinol, but a low dose because it's bloody expensive.

I think if I'd had more than one loss I'd probably consider some of the other advice, like taking high doses of vit d and b12, as something that could be worth a try.

Not 100% sure about taking medical advice from someone who isn't a Dr. However - she does back up her theories with a lot of scientific studies and the book has decent reviews.

@YellowZ I say I'll throw them out. We both know I won't do 😂

I don't really feel down, just frustrated with the tests and frustrated with myself for having no willpower!

Pinkmoon23 · 04/12/2023 18:42

Hi everyone, OK if I join in the conversation? 😊 I'm 35 and ttc number 2 (I have a 7 year old son). I fell pregnant in June but that sadly ended with a miscarriage. We took a 3 month break and started up again in September. So this will be our 3rd month trying again. I also have hashimotos (an autoimmune thyroid disease) and I'm just feeling a bit hopeless and overwhelmed to be honest. I'm 11dpo but got a BFN with first response (not fmu and not much of a hold) but yeah... It's just really getting to me and I'm feeling quite lonely in all of this. Especially because two of my close friends got pregnant the first time trying without even tracking ovulation. If anyone is in a similar position (I'm sorry!) and can relate it'd be nice to get and give some moral support. Thank you x

CatCaretaker · 04/12/2023 19:35

Hi @Pinkmoon23 I'm sorry to hear of your miscarriage. I can't relate to that, but have been trying a good while now and, like you, w of my best friends have made pregnancy announcements - and had their babies - in that time. It's great for them but yes, I definitely get the loneliness.

Loz1006 · 05/12/2023 10:21

Hey everyone!

Some positive news from me. I had my scan to determine the location of my pregnancy this morning and it's actually in the correct place, even managed to see a little flicker heart beat. I'm in so much shock as I was certain this was another ectopic. A Christmas miracle haha.

I have really small cyst on my ovary, not sure that can cause as much pain I'm in but for now I'm going to try and relax and hopefully the pain is a weird pregnancy quirk for me. Measuring just short of 6 weeks.

Wishing everyone all the luck and positively wherever they are in their cycle!

SnookyPook · 05/12/2023 10:27

@Loz1006 oh that's great news! Happy to hear it 😊

Bumblesbee84 · 05/12/2023 11:37

@Loz1006 ah how wonderful. That's really lovely news to hear on this thread. Wishing you a healthy and safe journey from here x

YellowZ · 05/12/2023 13:35

@Loz1006 amazing news! Congratulations 🎉🎉 hope the pain stops soon, really happy to read your update x

How were your bloods @Lostlawyer26 ? Hope it's looking OK.

Welcome to the thread @Pinkmoon23 maybe next cycle will be the lucky one for us 🤞(and everyone else trying too...multiple Xmas BFPs, right?).

Annonomous29 · 05/12/2023 19:00

I really hope we can all get our bfps over Christmas….

@YellowZ Hey how you doing???
im currently 9dpo but no symptoms at all i did a early pg but bfn. im getting some lower abdo cramps pulling of muscles and so on but other than that nothing at all.

Im chilled though or trying to be so not that fussed about the result just got to wait and see..

Lostlawyer26 · 05/12/2023 21:01

@Loz1006 that is really great news, I’m so pleased for you!

@YellowZ they seem to be doubling so far, fingers crossed. Thank you for asking, how are you doing?

lemonyfox · 05/12/2023 21:24

@Loz1006 amazing news!!

@Lostlawyer26 that's good that they're doubling, still keeping everything crossed for you. What's your HCG levels now?

I had more bloods at the hospital today and they're finally high enough for them to scan me. But they won't see me til Friday for a scan appointment. Maybe I'm being over dramatic, but I would have thought they'd want to see someone with two past ectopics fairly sharpish! But nooooo 🙄
