Oh ladies, I really feel for you having such long cycles! And there was me thinking my variable length ones were bad.
I'm starting to feel slightly human again but husband now has the lurgy, eugh why can't we catch a break, I feel so un-christmassy!
I have a half day on Weds so hopefully doing some Christmas prep then will help

Catson · 18/12/2023 22:02

@Lalaland13 how long are your cycles?

Lalaland13 · 19/12/2023 08:21

Well they have been all over the place since June! Had two in one month July, then two which were about 26 days then the last two have been 35 days! Who knows this month, we DTD day 11 and 12… think am day 15 now… probs need to do it some more lol! Cause if you have a longer cycle presumably you ovulate a lot later?!

Catson · 19/12/2023 09:03

@Lalaland13 yeh your lutual phase is usually 10-14 days so you would ovulate and then 10-14 days later get your period (or hopefully not if you're pregnant). So if you ovulate 2 days after your period then you would probably have quite a short cycle

RoseH36 · 19/12/2023 09:30

@Lalaland13 have you used the Clearblue ovulation tests? I couldn't get on with the line ones, too open to your interpretation so at least it's a clear answer with the Clearblue ones.

Fullofconfusion · 19/12/2023 13:54

I’m not entirely surprised that my cycle is super long. I came off the pill after being on it for 5 years and I know last time it took forever for my cycles to settle. So at least I know that’s the likely cause. It is hard to know if/when you ovulated though! I’ve bought some OPKs to use once I’ve finally had AF. Still no sign

Lalaland13 · 19/12/2023 16:25

I’ve not tried the clear blue - I like the internet cheapies for repeated testing, I thought must be too early to be ovulating but had a lot of CM that seemed to be what you’d expect and I guess I felt more frisky than normal lol! Now I feel all bloated and gross! Occasionally flutters a bit like when you’re pregnant but no idea what has been going on with my body. I had felt like was pregnant the last three months and seemed similar feeling to when I was pregnant but it’s always been negative! Sounds bad but it’s such a slog all the DTD- to make matters worse my husband wants a girl next and read all this stuff on DTD early and not on ovulation day as girl sperm slower ?! So he is now saying it’s too late !! Ahh the romance !!

Lalaland13 · 19/12/2023 16:27

I literally took the pill for 17/18 years non stop and when I stopped and had my son, my cycles were perfect right away and pregnant first month trying! I couldn’t believe it! This time - who knows wtf going on! Hope AF comes soon; it’s so annoying being in limbo

RoseH36 · 19/12/2023 17:25

@Fullofconfusion coming off the pill caused me a lot of issues too, although cycle length I don't think was one. I had horrendous issues with outbreaks and greasy hair, felt like a teenager again 😅

@Lalaland13 I'd try the Clearblue. Yes they are pricey but no mistaking when you are ovulating as it tells you. I used the cheapie ones alongside them once for comparison and would have been none the wiser if I was just using those.

I think it's all old wives tales on being able to have the gender you want, there's never been any scientific proof that eating certain things or having sex on certain days or in certain positions will make you have a girl or boy. I know some people say that some women can only carry a certain gender which may be the reason behind their miscarriages but that's also a load of rubbish.

Lalaland13 · 19/12/2023 18:46

Oh I will try to get some - yeah I don’t care what gender and think he is being silly… men!! I will get working on him tonight!

Hope everyone is doing okay with the Xmas run up - I’ve got one more day of work left! Whoop!! But lots to do!

Iron rich cereal every day

Day 1 - 2 x wheatabix with blue berries on top
Day 2 - saltana bran
Day 3 - porridge with strawberries on
Then repeat

Snacking on dried apricots helps

Lotsa kale and peas ... & broccoli

Red meat = good 4 iron
( ^ but bad 4 bowel polyps )

worldwidetravel2017 · 19/12/2023 22:30

Also @Catson -, NIcE guidelines say feretin should be 30 or above..
They should def help u get it up

Fullofconfusion · 19/12/2023 22:49

@RoseH36 yeah I’ve had spots, the joys! Haha also sore boobs before AF which I didn’t have on the pill.

@Lalaland13 it’s frustrating when your body doesn’t behave the way you expect it to. Last time I came off the pill it took so long for me to have a proper cycle that I went to the doctors to ask if I was ok. I went more than 6 months without any bleeding which was very stressful

Hope everyone is feeling sorted for Christmas

CurlyWurly1991 · 20/12/2023 07:00

@Catson I don’t want to alarm you but that is a low ferritin level and your midwife should have recommended supplementation. Are you symptomatic of iron deficiency or anaemia ? Fatigue, hair loss, cold hands/feet, anxiety?
spatone is often recommended in pregnancy as it doesn’t cause constipation unlike some of the other supplements. Two per day with 1000mg vitamin C is a good start, but more than that likely needed. You need to take it at least an hour before and after any tea, coffee, egg, milk…
I also take 2 x iron bisglycinate with 1000mg vit C (both natures aid brand) on waking as it is most absorbable in the morning and least absorbed as the day goes on.

Bumblebee413 · 20/12/2023 07:03

Good morning everyone! I’ve had a bizarre wake up today- rolled over onto a wasp! 🤦🏼‍♀️ We were up in the loft last night and I guess we disturbed it’s hibernation, so it came down to return the favour!

Did a cheeky test as it is day 44 and nothing. I’m feeling confused but pleased that I’ve got Christmas to focus on- lots of super lovely things planned this week.

@worldwidetravel2017 you’re doing so well. Are your Consultants supporting you with your planning? I know with a range of conditions you’re meant to seek advice from the start with TTC, although I wonder if you might know more about it than them with all your research! X

How are you feeling @Catson ?

Pleased that you’re starting to feel human again @SouthwestSis , hope that your partner gets over it quickly too xxx

Fullofconfusion · 20/12/2023 08:57

Finally AF is here!
whopping 53 day cycle but she’s finally arrived. Now if she could kindly leave again before Christmas that would be nice, although doubtful

Lalaland13 · 20/12/2023 09:08

Pleased it has arrived - fingers crossed it’s a quick and pain free one xxl

Khanga27 · 20/12/2023 10:52

Hi all hope you’re doing well.

I am trying my best not to take an early pregnancy test as I felt last month not taking one really helped my mental health when AF did come. My cycles are pretty regular and I’m due Friday so if I haven’t had anything by Saturday then will be taking a test then.

I feel like in this journey our bodies really try to trick us. At 8/9 dpo I had a bit of on/off pain around my right hip which has now gone. I’ve also had some nausea, dizzy spells and my boobs feel much bigger and a little achy. There is so much cross over between pms and pregnancy than I’m trying to tell myself that it’s just part of my cycle so I don’t build my hopes up.

i am a bit frustrated that AF is due over the Christmas period, but if AF does come I’ve decided I will have the one glass of bubbly on the day.

Hope everyone is doing okay over this period.

RoseH36 · 20/12/2023 12:18

@Bumblebee413 I saw someone post yesterday they found one on their washing, must be the mild temperatures waking them.

@Fullofconfusion that must be a relief for you, hope the next one isn't as long (or is 9 months long as it's good news)

@Khanga27 mines due Christmas Eve, crappy timing isn't it? I find the cross over in symptoms hard too. I've tested today with a First Response which is negative but then last month it was until the day before I was due when I had the faintest line so not losing hope just yet.

SouthwestSis · 20/12/2023 17:41

Hey @Bumblebee413 how weird! Did you get stung?
Thanks for asking, but no I'm not feeling any better yet, have tried to just power on through going back to work this week which was probably a mistake, I don't think I've ever been so run down.
Have my in-laws arriving tomorrow so plan is to dispatch them with the toddler to allow me some rest.

Lalaland13 · 20/12/2023 19:21

Having some proper rest should help, good to make most of the in-laws and they will live some one on one time with toddler. Hope you resist the temptation to get on with Christmas prep and properly rest!

I still don’t feel that Christmassy!

I am so baffled by these damn ovulations test - I am going to get a clear blue for next cycle as I think it’s unlikely to have worked this month, we DTD last night and hoping to a few more times as I guess still not a peak on the ovulation tests so maybe not happened yet, have a friend who has stopped ovulating and tried all sorts but resigned self to no more babies now.

The ovulation test I just did was about as negative as they can get - totally white! At least yesterday there was a bit of a faint line!

Khanga27 · 21/12/2023 07:58

So I caved and did a test… initial wave of happiness now replaced by anxiety because of what happened last time, and also disbelief in case it’s a dodgy test (should have done 2 types). Think I definitely need to keep that at bay. I’m 13dpo so I will do another test in a few days.

Bumblebee413 · 21/12/2023 08:38

Oh Congratulations @Khanga27 :) that’s a lovely line! Completely get the feelings after last time. You’re human, however this is a brand new pregnancy and a brand new baby x
