Hi all!
My body has begun a new cycle in its quest to torture me with cycles that are getting a day longer at a time 😅 so I thought I'd see if anyone wants to join me in BBT charting this month!

DH and I are currently TTC #1, we started in June so are on CD1 of cycle #3 now and I wanted to start doing something a bit more to track without feeling like I'm constantly peeing on some kind of stick 😂 I've previously tried charting in April and May to prevent pregnancy but I hadn't quite got the hang of it yet so the charts were a bit all over the place. My chart since restarting BBT on Sunday already seems a lot more stable than it was last time so hopefully it'll give me some more info this time!

Please feel free to say hi below and introduce yourselves 😊 looking for as many friends as possible in this crazy world of TTC 💕

Hi - I was thinking about this thread earlier and was going to post @Hotmalibu94 ok thanks still tracking BBT and it’s still elevated. Going to test next Saturday 😬 got some of the boots early detection tests as you First Response ones seem to be out of stock everywhere and are crazy £££ on Amazon. According to Flo AF is due Wednesday….so we shall see! Sounds like you’ve got a good plan in place for this month.

Hotmalibu94 · 30/07/2023 13:07

@CatLadyH oooh exciting! I've never tracked before, how long is BBT meant to stay elevated after ovulation even if you aren't pregnant?
AF due this Wednesday or next? Sounds like you're gonna be the first tester on this thread by a long way! So exciting 💕
Oh god yeah the frer are so expensive and not even that good anymore by the sounds of things. I've heard great things about the boots tests though!

Haha yeah hopefully, just need to actually manage it 🤞

@Hotmalibu94 Was literally going to post on here today, thanks for msging. AF arrived on Friday evening mine usually last a week, so I should be checking for ovulation from next Thurs. Do you know what CD you usually ovulate? Mines normally around CD16/CD17.
Hows everyone feeling overall for this cycle? Im feel great but a tad bit nervous too.

Hotmalibu94 · 30/07/2023 16:42

@Huriya hey lovely! My Flo app used to tell me I ovulated around CD11 and actually I think it was wrong and I ovulate around CD15 so hopefully Natural Cycles will confirm this month.
So I'm expecting next Wednesday to be ovulation day so I'll be keeping a close eye on my BBT from the Saturday. So we should definitely be fairly close together in the TWW which would be cool!
I'm feeling much more confident this month that I can catch the timings better 🎉 how are you? Xx

Hiya! @Hotmalibu94 again and everyone! Hope you don’t mind me joining 😊

AF arrived today and I’ve learnt a lot from this last cycle (trying but not trying 😂)

  • my iPhone health app sucks and its very inaccurate! Didn’t even actually stand a chance this month by the looks of it! - switched to premom now and even without any testing yet was on point with AF prediction
  • now going to try tracking ovulation with strips and looking into bbt but not too knowledgeable on it yet so will be good to learn more about it 😂
  • definitely don’t want to test too early again if its so hard not to! - the disappointment of BFNs doesn’t make it worth it for me.

So all in all CD1 for me again cycle 2 TTC #1

it will be lovely to chat with all of you throughout the month, sending baby dust your way 😊

Hotmalibu94 · 30/07/2023 17:10

Hey @CatiaR welcome! 💕 So sorry AF arrived. I'm a bit useless with BBT and relying on the app to tell me what's going on but basically Flo gave me the entirely wrong dates (which I did suspect last month!) So hopefully we can learn together 💕 I think way your bodys temperature reacts to ovulation is so cool!

Baby dust to you (and everyone else!) for this month 💕

CatiaR · 30/07/2023 17:15

@Hotmalibu94 thanks! I was just waiting for it now at this point and was just a day late so not too bad all in all ( if I’m stressed it can easily delay a week, which it did last month and almost overlapped with our wedding day - AF ended just the day before! 🙈)

totally new to all of this but I’d say it was a very good learning month, will see if I get my way around tracking ovulation and look into BBT ( it is cool that our bodies do that!) although I wonder wth my body was doing all last week when i never get any pms symptoms 😂

its nice to have everyone to chat through from the start so this will be great! Hopefully this month is our month 😊

Hotmalibu94 · 30/07/2023 17:30

@CatiaR It sucks being late though doesnt it, I was 2 days later than Flo predicted and it's just a kick in the teeth then 🤦‍♀️ but we are here now!
Oh god that was close with the wedding! I think I double took pill packets so I didn't have to worry about mine for our wedding 🤣
This is cycle 3 for me and what I learnt from cycle 1 and 2 is that as soon as you start TTC you start noticing so many symptoms that you've never had before 🤣 exactly what I had. I basically only thought I got headaches and backache before AF but turns out I also get sore boobs and all sorts 🤣

Yeah I really wanted someone to chat to in the long wait between AF starting and O day, so this will be nice!

OP posts:
CatiaR · 30/07/2023 17:50

@Hotmalibu94 it sucks but I’m used to it being a little late but this month was pretty spot on, when I started spotting yesterday I knew it was coming.

honestly I thought I didn’t feel anything much especially since last month I didn’t even noticed AF until I went to the toilet one day and was like oh right its that time. But I’m sure this month I was all over the place, but my boobs certainly are never this sore and it was there for like a week!

Yeah it will be nice to chat! I won’t expect a perfect month ahead considering I’m learning all sorts still but I think I got myself in a better place now 😊

I came off the pill in January since I wanted my body to get back to “normal” whatever that was since I’ve been on the pill for almost 15 years and I didn’t even know how my body would do now as an adult vs a teenager with cycles all over the place 😂 and now although occasionally late due to stress and other things my cycles are around 30-31 days most of the time so fairly regular 😊

gonna start testing after AF is done to see how its like and then just DTD every other day in fertile week to cover bases if I can’t figure out my surge !

AF usually lasts about 4-5 days so ready to start again soon 😂

CatLadyH · 30/07/2023 18:49

@Hotmalibu94 Yes this the Weds flo is ‘predicting’ AF to start, it changed as I ovulated slightly earlier this month at around CD14-15 when I’m usually around CD16-18 and has shortened the cycle to 26 days?! 🤷🏼‍♀️ who knows 😂 I don’t think it helps with having a chemical and that knocking out Junes cycle time. But tests are ready for next sat so we shall wait and see!

Huriya · 30/07/2023 21:10

@Hotmalibu94 Im good, super excited for this period to be over so than I can start the ttc journey for this month!! If all goes well my nxt period isnt due till the 26/27th Aug so thats when my 2ww will end. How about yours? Im so glad ive found someone on very very similar dates to mine, makes it all the extra bit fun when you have someone to talk to about symptoms etc.

Hotmalibu94 · 30/07/2023 22:04

@CatiaR ah well at least this one wasn't too bad then. I'd never noticed sore boobs before either! I've also had heartburn and cramps in my previous TWW despite never having those normally 😂 it's bizarre! I'd come off the pill in march so I'd had about 2 full cycles before we started trying but yeah, soon as we started it was just bam with all the symptoms!
Yeah from what I've seen especially when first trying the LH strips it's best to just cover your bases and start from very early in the cycle and then once it's narrowed down a bit you can test later in future cycles but hopefully you won't need to try too many future cycles 😅

@CatLadyH oh god it gets so complicated doesnt it with changing dates and ovulating early etc 😂 I'm just barely holding on to the length of my cycle. When I started TTC the cycle previously had been 24 days and then I went to 27 and then to 28 so I'm just going to expect it from CD28 in future, it was so gutting to see my app telling me it was late 🤦‍♀️

@Huriya same! AF finished today so the countdown is on to O day now 🎉 my apps are telling me I'm due approx 23/24th August which is hopefully going to be lovely as we are celebrating our first wedding anniversary on the 27th and I'd rather not have AF visiting one way or another on that date 🤣 yeah it's going to be lovely! It's nice because @CatiaR isn't going to be far behind us either 🤗

Can I join you?

My new cycle should start in next couple days. We weren't TTC this current cycle as I had surgery for ectopic/endo 3 weeks ago. Surgeon didn't say we had to wait but ovulation was super painful so giving my pelvis a chance to heal first.
I've had my BFP fairly quickly so far - 6 cycles with my daughter and then first time with the ectopic, but only one of my ovaries works and now I only have one tube and they're at opposite ends :( apparently the other tube can collect the egg but it's only a third of the time, so we'll see how this goes....

CatiaR · 31/07/2023 04:57

@Hotmalibu94 thanks for the tips! I was planning on testing as soon as AF stops too. I got a thermometer arriving too today so will start checking bbt from tomorrow as well and see how it goes 😊

Hotmalibu94 · 31/07/2023 07:13

@Throwawy hey of course you can join 💕 so sorry to hear about your surgery and ectopic 😞 a third of the time doesn't sound tooooo bad though! Hopefully it'll happen quickly for you.

@CatiaR just random bits I've read from stalking these threads for months 😅 keep me updated on how it all goes!

My BBT chart is going fairly well and is pretty steady, no crazy temp changes like I had before so hopefully I should pick stuff up this time!

OP posts:
CatiaR · 31/07/2023 08:38

@Hotmalibu94 thank you, I have definitely learnt a lot from all these threads too :)

going to just try and track things and see how it goes, don't want to expect it to work straight a way and take it more like learning. Husband certainly doesn't want to much information so I will do my bits quietly and then approach him to baby dance when its time 😃

Probably starting towards the end of the week, AF will be done by then but will start BBT from tomorrow and start building up my chart

fingers crossed for everyone this month! x

Hotmalibu94 · 31/07/2023 09:25

@CatiaR haha that's exactly the same with us, DH doesn't want to know 🤣
I keep thinking the same, it's just interesting and good to learn and hopefully it'll all help the process!

OP posts:
CatiaR · 31/07/2023 09:46

@Hotmalibu94 indeed, the first month was all over the place and I did not enjoy it at all, so definitely doing it differently this time, and no more early testing! so disappointing for no reason, would rather painfully wait ahah

DH was like we did say we were just going to try and stop avoiding it rather than actively try but I do want to speed up the process or at least add some more DDTs in the appropriate timing, and even actually try and see if my body is doing what is supposed to rather than just assuming it is.

Hotmalibu94 · 31/07/2023 10:41

@CatiaR yeah I figured out in like month one that it's just more painful doing a test than it is having AF arrive, so I decided to stop early testing but then last month I did one on what I thought was 11dpo so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Haha DH was the same, I brought a new thermometer and he was like "oh... Are you worried then" and I just said the same, id rather make sure we're doing it at the right time than just waiting and hoping. I think it's easier for me to just 'wait and see' because it isn't their body 😂

OP posts:
CatiaR · 31/07/2023 10:48

@Hotmalibu94 100% with you on that! its easy for them isn't it ahah but yeah I'm just telling him I'm not gonna tell him what I'm doing and this is for learning which is partially true, it's always good to know what the heck my body is doing

I had told myself last month I wasn't going to, but then did from 7dpo onwards, cheapies only until 2 days before AF but still lot of waste and disappointment even more so now that I didn't even stand a chance this month.

Not doing that again, has to be at least only like 2-3 days till AF and only cheapies until I miss AF if anything, cannot allow for more than that.

Hopefully I can keep that up :D

Hotmalibu94 · 31/07/2023 12:17

@CatiaR Well when is your AF due? We can keep each other accountable and say only allowed to test when AF is due? 🤣

OP posts:
CatiaR · 31/07/2023 12:22

@Hotmalibu94 it started yesterday one day late and premom at the minute predicts it 29th of August which it will be likely that or the next day :)

ahah that would be fun I think 😅

Throwawy · 31/07/2023 13:15

What apps are you all using for bbt? Fertilityfriend seems to be the best but I hate their UI.
I'm currently using Femometer mostly because my thermometer syncs with it via Bluetooth but also their charts aren't great.

I've also bought a ton of cheapy tests as I'll probably be testing a lot. Sadly with the ectopic I had a normal period ( same length, same heaviness) so I don't trust AF as a sign I'm not pregnant anymore. That and the fact that I'm higher risk of having another and I never want to go through a rupture again and the earlier I know I'm pregnant, the earlier i can arrange a scan to make sure it's in the right place.

So will be testing every month probably until I hit menopause now Grin. I only knew I was pregnant because I kept having positive OPKs, and after Googling found out it's a sign you might be pregnant. Even then it took me a week to do a pregnancy test as I thought it was impossible!

CatiaR · 31/07/2023 16:41

@thejollytrolleydolly @Myna13 join us here! There’s a few of us starting a new cycle 😊

thejollytrolleydolly · 31/07/2023 16:58

Hello!! CD6 here and 3rd cycle of trying for baby #2 after my MMC. The first month of trying my ovulation was 9 days later than normal so missed it. Last month I was very shocked we didn't catch after all of the BD we were doing so this month I am giving OPK's and BBT a go. I'm a complete novice at both but I've been to the university of YouTube today so I feel pretty well prepared 😂 I'm a shift worker so I don't even know if BBT will work for me but we will soon find out!

Baby dust to all! ✨
