Welcome !! I am also 37 and TTC #2 although with a big gap (DD is 9). Shuddering a bit at all of this talk of childcare costs as it is a distant memory for us. School age childcare a nightmare though so we work opposite shifts. If we are lucky enough to conceive I expect DH would share parental leave. We could potentially work opposite hours for a while. Get by on just a day a week of CC probably. Honestly it’s a bit terrifying and all of these logistics and financial implications are why we put off TTC another for so long. Never said never but I didn’t get that burning desire for another child until a few months ago… it felt like it came out of nowhere for me.

CD4 and feeling a bit stressed and glum. I think the full moon last night had something to do with it - oh and the incessant rain that has put all our summer holidays plans in the bin!!

H0pefull · 02/08/2023 09:25

So glad you got to see your baby @LeopardLover 🤍 you must be frustrated at the response from your GP though! Everything crossed for you xxx

RoseH36 · 02/08/2023 10:29

@Eirlys1986 the thought of twins terrifies me! Knowing DS should have been one it's on my mind it could happen.... I'll steer clear of proceive max just in case 😂

@ReginaPhalange12 oh wow that's short, that's fair enough testing so early then 😀

RoseH36 · 02/08/2023 10:32

@CurlyWurly1991 I think until they are teens childcare is a challenge at any age. I'm not surprised it was enough to put you off for so long.

Ah the weather! Seriously fed up of it now. We're on the 3rd attempt at potty training too so stuck inside. I did book us a holiday yesterday for 2025 and risked booking as a family of 4 so hoping by then we will be.

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 10:49

@RoseH36 😂, we are absolutely terrified of twins too. We were saying the other night our little boy is such an absolute whirlwind that two twin boys in addition would just absolutely take the piss! We’d be so scared 😂. However, after all that a lot of us have been through I’m sure we would all (including you!) adjust and absolutely boss it if we did have twins xx
@ReginaPhalange12 I sometimes have 10 and 11 day LP also which I think has supported my ridiculous testing schedule at points (in my own head anyway) 😂

RoseH36 · 02/08/2023 11:06

@Eirlys1986 we did say after the mmc we wouldn't care if it was twins or born in December, none of that matters anymore. However, with the holiday now booked changing it would be a nightmare as it's a cruise so not many cabins for 5, I'd have to choose a child to stay at home 🤣🤣

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 11:24

@RoseH36 😂. You just stay at home, best answer! Then husband and 3 kids can have all the room they want! We looked at cruises too, cabins are difficult with littles though and the cost becomes astronomical once there’s more than one sleep space! Let me know which line you’ve chosen and where you are going as I know you’ve got the insider knowledge 😜

RoseH36 · 02/08/2023 11:42

@Eirlys1986 or they can have the one we've booked and I'll book a single one, imagine the undisturbed sleep!!! Bliss! We've gone with MSC, this will be our second one with them. I've done a couple of other cruise lines but these are my favourite so far. This one will go to the Canary Islands from Southampton so ideal with no airports and delays to deal with 😃 if you ever decide to do one let me know as I'll do a discount for you x

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 11:59

Whoop 🙌🏻 thanks @RoseH36 , just wait till I tell my OH he will be excited! I really like the idea of just driving to Southampton and going direct on the boat. I think we both needed therapy after the flight home from Corfu with DS a couple of months ago 😂

Sez281 · 02/08/2023 13:07

@Eirlys1986 @RoseH36 I might splash out on the procieve as I'd actually love twins! 😂 I'm 40 and ttc #1 though so doubt I'd be saying that if I'd a toddler running around! 🥴😂

RoseH36 · 02/08/2023 13:26

@Eirlys1986 it was honestly so easy when we did one in Feb. Went down the night before, spent the morning of the cruise at a nearby soft play and then on board after lunch. Straight on, no queues, no delays. They take your luggage to your cabin so you don't even have to drag that around with you 😀. I'm not looking forward to going on a plane next month as don't think that will be as stress free 🤣

@Sez281 Haha would definitely be easier without a toddler I'm sure!

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 13:40

@Sez281 I should seriously have shares in
proceive max the amount of times I’ve mentioned it on here 😂. I have also heard of some ivf consultants recommending it to older patients going through treatment. It does seem to have aided relatively fast conception for us as first time round we had been trying 6 months then started it and pregnant within one cycle, pregnant first cycle this time of trying on it. However, that being said, the egg/sperm quality can’t have been wonderful this latest time sadly as I had a MMC at 8 weeks which consultant felt was likely chromosomal (however sadly chromosomally abnormal eggs are just more common as we age). What I will say with the most certainty I can is that all my bloods prior to and throughout my first pregnancy were amazing right through till delivery- no anaemia at all and really good iron levels with obs dept were really suprised at and I really attribute this to the proceive I took before and for first 2 months or so (had leftover sachets so just continued to take as they said safe to do so)
@RoseH36 that does sound dreamy! Our flights have been a mix with our DS- we’ve done 6 so far and I would say half have been pleasant and half not! Hopefully yours will be ok with a slightly older child xxx

Sez281 · 02/08/2023 13:55

@Eirlys1986 Oh that's really interesting! I was half joking but I think I will try the max! 😂I've just been using the boots conception vitamins and have actually managed to get pregnant twice this year, but unfortunately had MMC at 8w2 in March and CP last cycle (sorry to hear about your loss too 😔) the max does sound really good with all your iron levels etc so I'll definitely give it a shot next cycle if no BFP👌 (just started tww)

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 14:18

@Sez281 ive just started 2ww too, day 4 today. Wish I had a Time Machine to get it over with 😂

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 14:19

@Sez281 so sorry to hear about your losses too, they truely suck 😞

Sez281 · 02/08/2023 14:54

Thanks @Eirlys1986 Yeah they're totally crap but trying to stay positive. Like you I wish I had a Time Machine for tww I'm only on 1DPO 🥴 I went to my doc yesterday for bloods as I have awful cramping ever since my CP last cycle😭. I know I can't be pregnant as all hcgs are neg and I had LH rise 2 days ago but I just don't feel right at all so want to double check that I haven't retained anything as I only bled for 2.5 days 😣 I can't symptom spot at all this tww as I'm already all over the place with strange symptoms so I guess I just have to wait. Maybe it's a good thing 🤷‍♀️

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 15:11

@Sez281 yeh symptom spotting just drives you bananas, I was struck down with awful reflux the past couple of days but completely gone now. Was also inexplicably emotional yesterday and again gone so go figure! 😂

ReginaPhalange12 · 02/08/2023 15:16

My pre AF hormonal period has come right on time 😣 trying not to lose hope but every sign I usually get that AF is coming is currently happening

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 15:29

@ReginaPhalange12 😢 oh poo 💩, I really hope this isn’t the case for you xxx

ReginaPhalange12 · 02/08/2023 15:52

Thank you @Eirlys1986 how are you getting on?

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 15:59

Ok thanks @ReginaPhalange12 on 4dpo here. Have been keeping my toddler and dog entertained all day. OH going to play golf after lunch so I shall also be doing bedtime…then I’ll fall in a heap after

CurlyWurly1991 · 02/08/2023 17:04

Word of warning on Proceive - I’ve had some unpleasant side effects since starting them a few days ago (quite severe anxiety, insomnia, palpitations) and have tracked it down to the methylfolate form of folic acid that it contains. Apparently a significant minority of people are sensitive to this. I’ve had dodgy reactions to B vitamins before but cope ok with the non methylated versions. Going to give them to DH despite them being ‘for women’, looks like the formulation is very similar.

RoseH36 · 02/08/2023 17:09

@Eirlys1986 have to say the Proceive does have incredibly good reviews on Boots, I'm tempted to give it a go. Thanks for the heads up on them though @CurlyWurly1991.

6 flights with a young child, you're brave lol. Next month will be the first time we've been on one with him, I've not been brave enough until now although I'm sure he'll be fine.

ReginaPhalange12 · 02/08/2023 17:11

@Eirlys1986 hopefully it's keeping your mind busy. I know when I have my DC home I don't have as much time to think about everything.

Eirlys1986 · 02/08/2023 17:42

Oh goodness @CurlyWurly1991 that doesn’t sound fun at all, sorry you’ve had a side effect with them. Hopefully hubby enjoys his supply 😂. I had read some people got longer cycles with them but no other specific side effects reported in reviews so that’s good to know
@RoseH36 Brave…..or stupid 😂
