Hi all, I’m glad to find this new thread. Was on the last one but took a forum break. Rooting for everyone this summer, still no joy here.

This thread has been so helpful with tips and support, and it’s because of this thread that I started using the digital Clearblue ovulation kit. It’s so much better than the sticks, and we were able to DTD several times at the right point, although sadly it didn’t work this month. Aargh.

It’s really getting me down today, I really thought this month would be the one but nope. Had a scan this month and no big issues flagged up. The nurse said my endometrial lining was “lovely” (which made me giggle).

Thinking of getting more tests, maybe hertility and also checking out my partners sperm count, as he’s 45.

anyway, hope to see some good news soon from you all. It’s a win for us all.

I definitely recommend hertility health

Its very informative

They flagged a potential issue 4 me that my gp had also flagged & i had scans etc

Also 4 your partner - sperm testing

My partner is 33 - & even so - if im not preg by Sept/ oct - i want that test done 4 him / us

Hoping my period not being here yet means one of our 4 chances in hopefully the right window may of worked - who knows though.. i feel different

Maizie83 · 19/07/2023 09:29

worldwidetravel2017 · 19/07/2023 10:30

Had sex fri night , sun am , mon night ,
Tues lunch time...

My ovulation is later in cycle likely due to pcos etc

worldwidetravel2017 · 19/07/2023 10:31

Maizie83 · 19/07/2023 10:39

That’s great, perfect timing! Keep us posted, hoping this is your month.

Hi,

So I caved and POAS yesterday. Was negative, but period not due for another 4 days, also did it in the evening, so totally a waste. Why do I do this?? 😂

Quick question, so I bought the clear blue ovulation sticks, used for a couple of days and got the static smiley face so didn't use any more. Box says you can't use the main plastic stick again as it won't record a static smiley face.

However, I have tons of sticks left, is it worth me using them anyone and just using the darkness of the line as an indication of ovulation. Just seems a bit of a waste other wise? TIA

MK85 · 19/07/2023 15:25

@worldwidetravel2017
Sorry to hear of your chronic fatigue diagnosis.
I totally get how shit it is. I was diagnosed in my teens

MK85 · 19/07/2023 15:28

@Rusticanella hopefully you wont need to 🤞 but you can use the sticks again next cycle , if needed. The holder will reset itself

It just says cant use again that cycle - maybe they'll work on next cycle - i dunno

I tend to just buy another box with it

@Rusticanella - i hear you - i tested today - was obviously negative , way way too early
Earliest i should test would be mon / tues next week off back of fri last week as then 10 / 11 days gone by..

Equally - end of next week - given the multiple attempts in that window

But then i read about ovulation results varying for ppl with pcos ugh

Guna try to wait til next mon before testing again - god knows how ...

Thank you and sorry to hear that
Its pretty poop

I need to accept it but struggling too

Being referred to a fatigue clinic

How have you managed with it all - are you queen of pacing ?

Maizie83 · 19/07/2023 16:06

@Rusticanella well done for holding off that long. I buckle every time. There’s still hope. This might be a bit insane of me, but for any POAS addicts (I’m in recovery) there’s a lot of charts online that show pregnancy tests based on their sensitivity. But they’re only for American brand tests. This is what I’ve logged in my long and tedious journey using UK tests, if anyone is tempted to POAS early. I am determined to not go near the things until my period is late, but in case anyone tests earlier, just be mindful of the test sensitivity:

Standard:
Sainsbos standard tests - 25mlU
Clearblue digital - 25mlIU
Clearblue - 25mlU
Freedom Test: 25ml*
Freedom Strips: 25mlU
Superdrug pregnancy test - 25mlU (used to be 10mlU)
Asda digital - 25mlU

Medium:
Boots Pregnancy Test Strips: 20mlU

Early:
First Reponse Early Result: 6mlU
Wanfoo strips - 10mlU
Clearblue Ultra Early - 10mlU

Hi ladies. I hope you don’t mind me jumping on. I’m 39 and just had a BFP this morning. It wasn’t planned, and a huge shock, and I’m really trying to get my head around this at my age.
I have 3 kids age 19, 17 and 8. I’m so worried about age, health, finances, etc and freaking out. I guess I’ve just never given much thought to being a new mum in my 40s and I’m scaring myself.
please could anyone tell me the flip side of the coin and help me to realise that maybe this will be ok?
xxx

Rusticanella · 19/07/2023 23:06

Hi @Buttons659

Congrats! I'm sure everything will work out really well. I know several people that have very large age gaps and love it. In fact, if we are successful conceiving dc 2, we will have a 15 year age gap at least.

Just as a heads up, this chat is mainly made up of "geriatric" women trying to conceive and in some cases not having a very easy time with it, so you may find this thread doesn't provide exactly the support/advice you are looking for.
I think there may be a topic for expecting older parents and I'm sure there will be lots of people in a similar position in the same boat.

Congrats again- I hope all goes well in your pregnancy and your teenagers will love their baby sibling I'm sure! 😀

MK85 · 19/07/2023 23:41

@Maizie83 good to hear from you again

MK85 · 20/07/2023 00:04

Anyone else currently ovulating?
🤞 im hoping I'm ovulating.
This past week or so has been rather strange. It started with severe depression. I couldn't shake it off and i spent a few days in bed thinking there was no light at the end of the tunnel. OH was very attentive but i couldnt help but feel so disconnected from him. All of a sudden as quick as my mental state slumped, I suddenly perked up . It was as if nothing had happened. So bizzare.
i went into a dark space last month just before my period was due and i think im linking it to the clomid. I've felt physically fine but mentally up and down since starting it. I've decided this month will be my last month on it.
I think what helped perk me up was the fact I got a flashing smiley on clearblue on cd 11 and lots of pain and i was hoping ovulation was around the corner. I had the most usual feelings. I had buckets of ewcm , and i felt so turned on all the time. I usually never get ecwm and i have a low sex drive. My cheapies indicated that I started to surge slightly but failed.
I'm currently cd17 and this afternoon I had a blank circle in clearblue but 0.44 in easy at home. Clearblue line was darker tho this time and because I saw lh was increased I thought I'd test this evening again and now clearblue is static 🙂 and cheapies are upto 0.80 .
Fingers crossed it pops this time.
I'm just disappointed that right now I have no ecwm , it's kinda milky and dry and no drive. I'm literally going to have to force myself to have robot sex tonight with OH😆
On a plus tho, I've never ovulated this early in my cycle

Jak803 · 20/07/2023 00:56

Can I join here? 43 and TTC #2 for 7 months now.

@MK85 i’m so sorry to hear this, that sounds like a real rollercoaster. It sounds likely hormonal. I’ve been having really scarily low slumps right before AF these last few months.

Re: dryness, have you tried ProSeed Fertility Friendly Lubricant? I’ve heard it can help with motility if you’re not producing much EWCM. I’ve also heard it’s not strictly necessary but worth a shot?

great news about the static smiley!

worldwidetravel2017 · 20/07/2023 08:35

Ughhhhh ..
Cycle Day 31 .. woop 4 still no period..

Bloomin' clear blue ovulation showed a flashing face again today though..
Goodness only knows

Seems im potentially one of those people with multiple surges maybe...

Partner refers to sperm as his swimmers - but his swimmers will be there from sun mon tues...
Really hope i ovulated mon tues - as per CB peak fertility & cheap sticks saying ovulation..

Cheap stick says not ovulating today - which i hope is correct..

Maybe im someone with multiple hormone surges / peaks / something something

cornflakes86 · 20/07/2023 12:40

@MK85 whats the story with no flashing smiley on clearblue. I noticed since my mmc it was going straight from low fertility to static with no flashing ones in between . Was worried I have low oestrogen or something now.

worldwidetravel2017 · 20/07/2023 16:44

New day.. new problem
Deficient in b12 now

Thankfully my vit D has doubled over 3 month period

Feretin still dropping every month - & that's with not having had a bleed / period for 30 days

Rusticanella · 20/07/2023 16:53

@cornflakes86 mine did this as well. I really don't know.

BFN this morning again. FRER, FMU, period is due in three days, so pretty sure that's me out.

But grumpy with it all. As well as just getting older all the time, there are a few other decisions that would be made much easier if we knew if a baby was going to happen or not. Mortgage renewal/works on house etc, plus, I really hate my job but haven't been looking at new ones in case I end up preggo...just frustrating.

And now I'm itching to get ovulating and get trying again, then it will be back to TWW. No wonder it's all referred to as "cycles" 😂

MK85 · 20/07/2023 17:20

@worldwidetravel2017 I had a flashing 🙂 on one clearblue test a week ago ( never normally flashes) Cheapies weren't rising. It got upto 0.44 then crashed down again.
After a few days I opened a new clearblue test holder to try it and it came back negative 😆 clearly my estrogen had risen but LH just wasn't surging to promote ovulation.
A week later and it went from blank to static 🙂 in a few hours . Cheapie test has finally risen now got a 0.80, although I'm not confident as today it's already decreased and registering 'low' today. Usually my highs are over 2 days. I'm just hoping I've finally ovualted this time. Arrggggh. I've ordered a test from medichecks which I'm hoping will be here in time

MK85 · 20/07/2023 17:30

@cornflakes86 it may be that your estrogen just rises very rapidly coming up to ovulation.
If its picking up on enough LH at same time then it can bypass the flashing stage as I think they are set by threshold levels. I read on clearblue website that it said its not unusual.
If your ovulating then I probably wouldn't worry about it as if your estrogen was low I'd imagine you'd have difficulty ovulating since rising estrogen is required to signal to the brain to ramp up LH.

MK85 · 20/07/2023 17:42

Heres an odd question ladies...
Do you, or your other half notice any difference DTD during ovulation?
Does it feel any different for either of you ?

CaffeineAndCrochet · 20/07/2023 18:49

AF finally showed yesterday, a full week late. So that brings us to 6 months unsuccessful trying. Next step is doctor's appointment.
