Am I going mad? AF due Saturday, no symptoms other than having period-type pains for the last 3 or 4 days (though they are very light and come and go).

I’m aware the line (if it is there) is very faint so maybe another chemical? But I’ve never used the Boots test before so not sure the chance of an indent? First picture with wooden background is at 3 minutes, second is more like 7 minutes (so out of the time window but shows that the line has colour).

Haven’t mentioned to other half that I was even getting tests…

@Downtherabbithole83 looks like a positive to me as I can definitely see colour.
Fingers crossed it sticks.
Is that boots early tests?
I used the boots basic strips In the past and found them reliable

cornflakes86 · 17/08/2023 17:03

@Downtherabbithole83 looks positive to me. Fingers crossed

cornflakes86 · 17/08/2023 17:05

I haven’t been on here for a while. Looking for some advice . Just had a failed round of ovulation induction with gonal f and a trigger shot. 13 dpo today and stark negative test. My question is would you bother with another oi round or iui if you were me ? 36 and ttc nearly 2 years now with 1 mmc due to chromosomal abnormalities. Wondering should I try another round or just go for ivf at this stage ? Would appreciate anyones thoughts.

Downtherabbithole83 · 17/08/2023 17:43

Thanks @MK85 and @cornflakes86. Yes it’s a boots test - not used them before but have another one to do with fmu tomorrow so we’ll see what happens.

I’m not convinced it will stick as my only symptom is the pains which doesn’t seem like a good sign. Told the other half though and we’ve decided to celebrate that at least we know things are at least starting to work a bit as I genuinely wasn’t sure I was even ovulating.

Downtherabbithole83 · 17/08/2023 17:47

Sorry to hear this @cornflakes86 . I have no advice for you as I’ve not experienced either but just wanted to say that my tfmr was for chromosomal issues and I wonder if that was the cause of my chemical as well. Do they screen for some issues during the IVF process?

Did you conceive naturally that time? If so it might be worth trying another round of ovulation induction before IVF? But I think you just have to discuss it with your partner and go for whatever you feel is best for you.

ThesisthenaViva · 17/08/2023 18:06

Hey @cornflakes86
I am really sorry to hear about your journey. This TTC process is so complex and at times heart breaking. In response to your question.... if it were me I would be leaning towards the IVF route. I'm not clued up on IVF but I am aware that there are embryo screening tests available. If opting for fertility treatment I would personally like to know that the success rates are potentially the best they can possibly be. However, as the PP mentioned the decision ultimately lies with you and your OH. Only you guys can decide what is the next best step. I sincerely wish you all the best x

thejollytrolleydolly · 17/08/2023 18:54

@Downtherabbithole83 I've used the boots ones before and they have been white as a sheet when I haven't been pregnant so if you've got a line it's highly likely you're pregnant!! Congratulations! X

cornflakes86 · 17/08/2023 18:58

@Downtherabbithole83 @ThesisthenaViva thank you for your replies. My mmc was after 10 months trying following a hycosy as I had started investigations. No hint of a bfp since. My husbands sperm count is good and so is my amh. Another round of oi would cost 450 euro. I have a gut feeling it would not work though cos I think I’m ovulating every month anyway. Not sure what the story is. I suspect poor quality eggs but surprised I haven’t even had a chemical in all the other months I’ve been trying if that is the only issue . Hard to know what to do.

Rusticanella · 17/08/2023 19:02

@Downtherabbithole83 how exciting.... crossing fingers for you! That's looks quite a good line to me considering you are not late yet?

I'm officially out- annoyed at myself for getting excited. Was moaning about being tired at work today, and my boss teased "you better not be pregnant" (she's lovely and doesn't know we are trying so really not her fault) but I did think to myself "if only..." 😒

MK85 · 17/08/2023 20:57

@cornflakes86 ah its a hard decision. Although €450 is a stark contrast to ivf costs and even with ivf there's no guarantees. The benefit of ivf I suppose is at least they can monitor fertilisation rates since they are placing the sperm with the egg. There's just so many things have to go right every month for fertilisation to occur. No matter how healthy the egg and sperm are , its still an incredibly difficult journey. It truly amazes me how anyone can get pregnant and I understand more how it can take so long even when there's nothing wrong. Alot of sperm don't even make it past the cervix or they get all tangled together and the small amount that do make it to the uterus tube junction , an even smaller amount will make it into the tube, and again less will even make it down the tube. Its truly mental when I think of it.
Have you considered IUI in conjunction with OI ? I've read oi and iui together can increase the success rates.
We considered it for our next cycle but then got called up for ivf.

Your chances of a good quality egg at 36 should still be pretty good. At that age 1/2 are normal . ( going off what I've been told and read)

With ivf , i believe they grade the eggs which helps them pick out the best andd then you can genetically test the embryos to see if they have chromosomal abnormalities but that's an added cost

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you already have a child together don't you? What are they putting it down as , unexplained secondary infertility?

Downtherabbithole83 · 18/08/2023 05:04

Thanks @Rusticanella amd @thejollytrolleydolly - I’ve done another test this morning and it’s fainter so I think most likely another chemical but it’s still nice to see a line even if only for a couple of days!

cornflakes86 · 18/08/2023 06:48

@mk85 thank for your message much appreciated. Yes we have a child that was conceived easily and we started trying before he turned two. I wonder if he was a fluke or else something happened during that pregnancy/childbirth that has affected my fertility. My periods are totally different-light since having him but dr doesn’t seem concerned when I mention this. There is no way of knowing I suppose maybe ivf would give some answers. Yes it’s unexplained secondary infertility. When are you starting ivf ?

cornflakes86 · 18/08/2023 18:43

@Downtherabbithole83 how are you doing today ?

Downtherabbithole83 · 18/08/2023 20:24

Thanks for asking @cornflakes86 - I’m okay. Was a bit sad earlier today to see a fainter line but I have to keep reminding myself that 48 hours ago I wasn’t even sure I was ovulating and whether my lack of ewcm was stopping us so at least I know it’s possible 🤷‍♀️

Having two chemicals in a row is a bit shit but I figure they could have happened because of chromosomal issues then I’d much rather it fail at this early stage rather than go through the horror of another tfmr.

How are you doing today? Have you decided what you’re going to do yet? It must be so hard knowing you conceived so easily before (that’s what we’re finding hard to understand here)

cornflakes86 · 18/08/2023 21:35

@Downtherabbithole83 sorry about the chemical if it is one.I agree with you that it’s a good sign and hopefully it’s only a matter of time til one sticks for you if things are working as they should. thinking I might just give the ivf a go and if it doesn’t work at least I’ve tried to give my child a sibling. I know I will regret it if I don’t. I think the ovulation induction is probably a waste of time and money for me at this stage.

Downtherabbithole83 · 18/08/2023 21:57

@cornflakes86 I can totally see your thinking with that one. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞

40andtrying1 · 19/08/2023 07:32

Hi everyone!
I hope you are all well and not driving yourselves too crazy like I am. 😆
i am 9dpo
and I thought I would check my cervix, well I discovered there was brown discharge, just like you have before a period.
but I should not be due on for 5 days.
has anyone had this before and ended up pregnant.
no brown discharge there this morning.

Downtherabbithole83 · 19/08/2023 12:36

@cornflakes86 definitely a chemical - line is almost non-existent this morning (still there within 3 mins but so faint). I’m a bit irritated but otherwise strangely okay about it!

@40andtrying1 I know implantation can cause light bleeding but I’ve never experienced it with any of my pregnancies so wouldn’t like to say! I guess you’ll just have to wait and see 🤞

40andtrying1 · 19/08/2023 13:14

Thank you for replying 🙂

cornflakes86 · 19/08/2023 13:28

@Downtherabbithole83 sorry to hear. Really hope you get a bfp that sticks soon.

Downtherabbithole83 · 19/08/2023 13:51

@cornflakes86 me too! Though at least now I can continue training for the half marathon I signed up for on Tuesday 😂

Wouldn’t have been able to run that at 6/7 months pregnant (I’m finding silver linings).

MK85 · 19/08/2023 16:34

@Downtherabbithole83 ah really sorry to hear hear but I agree, take it as a positive sign that they are fertilising. That's what fertility told me anyway. Hopefully one of these months one will stick

MK85 · 19/08/2023 17:02

Well ladies I had a positive ovulation test today. I'm in shock as I'm CD14 and wasnt expecting it for at least another week. I've never ever ovulated around CD14, this is the earliest so I'm relieved that my body is finally balancing out and doing what it should do. I dont know if its the lifestyle improvements, clomid or a bit of both. On the other hand , I'm kinda a bit sad that we can't get trying a few more months naturally now when everything feels good but we've literally just signed our consent forms yesterday. If we back out now , we'll lose our place. I'm really dreading ivf. I think what I'm dreading most is the fact that its not something that's just going to be over and done in a month or two. There's the prep before the stims and even after collection , since were having to do an FET due to OHSS risk with few months downtime between collection and transfer . Were probably looking at early next year for transfer and we've been told starting from my next period were to avoid unprotected sex, including refraining between collection and transfer to avoid OHSS.
Its so frustrating because I feel every month counts now.
All I want for Christmas is to knock a few years off the ovaries

DonnaKJ · 20/08/2023 16:39

@MK85 why can you not try after collection? I've heard lots of women fall pregnant more easily after ivf
