@DonnaKJ It was rather briefly explained but as I'm at high risk of OHSS ( ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome) it requires some downtime after collection for everything to settle down. Apparently if you get pregnant afterwards it can make OHSS worse and last for a longer period of time and cause complications.

Was it taken on day 21 of your cycle? Usually 30 or over indicates ovulation. Please discuss with your GP or whoever requested the test for you.

40andtrying1 · 21/08/2023 09:40

Yes day 21… well I think it was a day late but I presume that wouldnt make too much of a difference.

MK85 · 21/08/2023 12:50

@40andtrying1
I've always been told by consultants that it needed to be above 30 nmol/l
However , last month i had a private blood test and mine came back around 27nmol/l , so under the 30.
I did have a BBT rise , so I don't know weather I ovulated a few days later or if it signals low rising progesterone , or ovulation if it all.
I had a blood test done in April aswell, that was done on day 5 and it was above at 32nmol/ so it deeply concerned me that my day 7 last month was below threshold. The doctors notes were it falls in the grey area. It dosent mean you haven't ovulated but it just means as it's below 30 it can't be confirmed to say you've definitely ovulated.

40andtrying1 · 21/08/2023 13:40

Thank you so much for explaining this to me.
I wonder if this is due to my age. Do you think i will be offered progesterone tablets or clomid? X

40andtrying1 · 21/08/2023 13:41

Have they offered you any treatment? Surely we need it. I’ve been trying for 6months.

bubballoo · 21/08/2023 16:02

Heya wondering if I could join this thread too. I'm 36 TTC baby number 2. Taking all the supplements, peeing on all the sticks....
Old, fat and with a previous history of miscarriage and premature birth 😬but remaining oddly hopeful.

Weefreetiffany · 24/08/2023 12:16

Hi everyone, I posted when the thread first started but then ducked out after a chemical pregnancy. Immediately after that chemical I got pregnant and and currently 18 weeks. We’d had unexplained infertility for over 2 yyears, almost 3 since we started trying, we had several miscarriages and chemicals and couldn’t seem to get it to happen. At the time of conception I was 37 and weighed 72kgs at 165cm and had stopped taking my prenatals as I was on holiday. Still didn’t drink alcohol or caffeine though, but my diet was very healthy. I’m really hoping this one makes it to birth, but trying not to be anxious. Easier said than done! If I could have a scan every day to check everything ok I would 😂 but I just wanted to jump back on the thread to share my good news and hopefully it will reassure some of you that it can happen… my private doctor, after an mri and extensive blood work had come back normal except for low iron, wanted me to do advanced (expensive) genetic testing and then on to ivf, but the nhs doctor said I needed to relax and not be in a state of tension/worry about it happening so it could happen. Which sounded a bit woo so I asked if I could get a prescription for a holiday on the nhs- sadly not! But yes checking out of the structure and stress of real life from cd16-30 seemed to have helped and maybe that info could be useful to someone trying and reading this? It could also be a coincidence and luck was on our side. Either way fingers crossed for this one, and good luck to everyone on their way.

Cinai · 24/08/2023 12:43

Congratulations @Weefreetiffany what lovely news 🎉
Welcome @bubballoo! have you been trying for long? You’re certainly not old, I’d say with 36 you are a spring chicken on this thread 🙂

I’m back for cycle 7…I was very surprised to see a static smiley on the clear blue ovulation test this morning. It’s only day 10 of my cycle (usually 28 days) and it jumped straight from empty circle (days 8 & 9) to the static smiley with no flashing smileys in between….did anyone else have this? Last few months I tracked I always had 3-4 days with flashing smiley inbeteeen and reached peak on day 13/14.
Well, luckily DH and I decided to DTD yesterday on the empty circle day ‘just for fun’ 😅

worldwidetravel2017 · 24/08/2023 13:42

@bubballoo im 36 too - 37 later this year - trying for our first (_/maybe only)

@Weefreetiffany - congrats - lovely news

worldwidetravel2017 · 24/08/2023 13:43

According to flo app - im menna preg test from sept 8 ish

We added a few attempts in last week - supposedly, // hopefully round the right time

hennie222 · 24/08/2023 15:49

Welcome @Weefreetiffany and congrats! I think your right about the stress. The only time I've ever conceived I was mega relaxed (had basically given up "trying", was drinking (not loads but not abstaining as I had been) and it was unexpected. Sadly ended in a MMC for me and not managed to get another BFP yet, but am trying to be as relaxed as possible again (but without any alcohol and limited caffeine this time!).

bubballoo · 24/08/2023 16:34

Hi @Cinai , ~ 6 months, two chemicals in that time. I've taken a break for a few months, and going to try again next month. Husband is away and I'm ovulating so no dice this month.

MK85 · 24/08/2023 17:04

@40andtrying1 I certainly haven't been able to obtain progesterone.
I've had this discussion with every nhs consultant and they are extremely reluctant to prescribe it. Apparently nhs won't supplement you with progesterone unless youve had 3 or more pregnancy loses, which is disgusting in my opinion expecting a woman to go through multiple loses before they will prescribe something that may help.
I've heard it's alot easier to obtain privately .
How are you getting on ?
I had a positive ovulation test on Saturday but my temp still hasn't risen. It finally rose yesterday which I thought was confirmation but this morning it has plummeted really low again. I don't think I've managed to release the egg which I'm gutted about as I've never ovulated on day 14 before. I've strangely had pains on both sides this month so I've no idea what's really going on

Ivebeenthinkingtoomuch · 25/08/2023 09:14

Hi 👋🏻
Can I join this thread too please? I’m 36 and ttc baby no 3 for me but the first with my boyfriend. I have two who are 15 and 12 so I haven’t been pregnant for a long time 😂. I'm on the first cycle and 1dpo today so entering the craziness of the tww.

Serendipity2023 · 25/08/2023 20:42

Hi everyone
I've been a longtime observer of this group but never previously commented.

I'm 40 and TTC baby #1 (we have an angel baby, following a TFMR in January at 23wks - severe heart condition that was incompatible with life 😔).

I'm now on my last cycle before meeting with my GP again, and looking at IVF referral. I desperately hope we get a BFP following this cycle but I'm also realistic in knowing that's far from guaranteed.

Could anyone please walk me through what happens next? What tests are performed and what I can expect when looking at going down the IVF route?

Sending all of you infinite baby dust ✨

Rusticanella · 25/08/2023 20:43

Hi @Serendipity2023

I have no advice unfortunately- as not too far into this journey myself.

But just wanted to say I am very sorry for your loss- unimaginable. Wishing you all the best

Yes! This happened to me today actually, I used a clear blue digital (alongside the easy@home LH strips) today and I got a static smiley... yesterday was a O -
so I had no flashing in between.

I have been using the easy@home with the PreMom app for the last few cycles and had not seen a high/peek until this cycle, so not sure why, but it can be so worrying.

However I have been told that your LH peek window can sometimes be super short, hence not always catching it.

Serendipity2023 · 25/08/2023 20:55

@Rusticanella - thank you so much lovely ❣️

MK85 · 26/08/2023 00:10

@Cinai I never have a flashing smiley, I've had it one month. I always go from blank straight to static.

MK85 · 26/08/2023 00:34

@Serendipity2023 really sorry to hear what you went through. I cant begin to imagine how incredibly difficult that must have been for you.
I'm not sure what the process might be for you since you've already achieved a pregnancy, it may be different. Were you trying long before you fell pregnant?
When I went to gp I had never previously been pregnant before so our tests were to try and determine a reason for why we weren't conceiving. Scans, bloods, dye test and semen analysis

hennie222 · 27/08/2023 17:06

Welcome @Serendipity2023 and sorry to hear shat you've been through. My experience isn't quite the same and I think it varies between doctors and regions. But I'm 38, ttc #1. Had a mmc at 11 weeks last December. Saw the GP after trying again for 6 months and had a very quick referral to consultant (we has already had blood tests for me at different points in cycle and semen dmfor DH). Consultant did internal scan , took bloods for AMH and sent DH for more semen tests. I also had a HSG. Now we are waiting (almost 4 weeks on) to hear results and next steps. I think the consultant wans to check everything out before moving on to IVF or whatever, so you may get similar. However at least where I am the NHS won't give any IVF if you're over 40 (and won't refer if so many weeks before birthday). I'm expecting we might just squeeze one nhs cycle in before the age cut off now (I'm 39 next month). Worth trying though and at least seeing what nhs will do. Xx

Downtherabbithole83 · 28/08/2023 22:43

@Serendipity2023 sorry to hear about what you’ve been through. I had my tfmr in Nov and we’ve had two chemicals since but nothing else. I recently had tests to check my hormone levels but they seem normal so I guess we’re just unlucky 🤷‍♀️

There’s a great thread on here called ‘Anyone else TTC after TFMR?’ - you might find some others who have been through similar and can advise based on their experiences.

Cinai · 30/08/2023 14:06

Ah thanks for confirming the smiley situation @MK85 and @Serendipity2023 Looks like I peaked / hopefully ovulated very early this month…we shall see 🙂
