@BertLiv so soon! Good luck with it, hope it goes the best possible way!

Thank you! I had a scan and bloods done on Friday, and my lining was 8.1, which I thought was good and that they'd arrange the transfer (as my last clinic would have!), but instead they upped my meds and I have another scan/bloods today. Keeping everything crossed that the transfer might be next week!

BertLiv · 24/09/2024 15:42

Hello Ladies
Hope everyone is doing ok.
So, our ET is booked! Next Monday and I start my prontogest injections tomorrow, my husband is not looking forward to it as he has to do them! Has anyone taken prontogest before? If so, were you told whether you can drink while taking it? It's our wedding anniversary this week, and we're going to celebrate on Saturday, and I figured I could have a few glasses, but the nurse just said she personally would advise not to, but that others would disagree and that it was up to us! So now I don't know!
What do you all think?

lavafield · 24/09/2024 16:11

@BertLiv good luck with the transfer on Monday! The day is so close now, exciting! I would personally not drink at all in coming days but that's me being super cautious always.

For us, we will try to time everything better in next three months and if nothing still happens by what will be 9 months trying, escalate to checks

BertLiv · 24/09/2024 16:22

@lavafield Thanks. Another nurse just called and said I could have one glass, but given that some of the non-alcoholic wine is really not bad, I might just stick with that!

I think you've got a good plan - but hopefully something will happen in the meantime!

lavafield · 01/10/2024 21:34

Hi @BertLiv how did you your transfer go? Fingers crossed for you!
Hope your celebration was also nice, what a lovely gift it will be if all works! 🧡

I am targeting well timed DTD over the next six months here, as I want to go a full year trying naturally before interventions even though I know time is not on our side.

BertLiv · 02/10/2024 11:08

Hi @lavafield, transfer actually went very well, thanks - far less uncomfortable than the last ones. We saw our little embryo beforehand, and then watched it going in on the monitor (our last clinic didn't do this, so it was quite cool to watch!). Our doctor wants me to have a blood test to check the result, and that is booked for 11/10, and we think we won't bother taking a test at home as we'll have a definite, more accurate, result the next day anyway. I had bloods taken and my levels checked when we had the transfer, and the dr is happy with them, which was good, so continuing with the pills and quite unpleasant PIO, but it's all worth it! Only 2dp5dt, so trying not to dwell on any symptoms...at least it's only 11 days and not 2 weeks, and we're moving house soon, so I've got a lot to distract me!

I hope your well-timed DTD works! I completely understand wanting to try naturally - we did the same thing. Always worth it if there's a chance! And try not to dwell on time passing, even though that's impossible, I almost lost a friend due to her comment about time passing. I don't know how old you are, but people are having babies later and later in life these days.

Fingers crossed for all of us!

lavafield · 03/10/2024 09:41

@BertLiv Very pleased to hear it went well! Hope the wait time is manageable, and you will know the result very soon! 🤞

Joleyjojo · 03/10/2024 12:17

AF arrived today 12po . This is my first period after surgical management exactly 5 weeks and 1 day. I am feeling very sad but I need to be positive for this coming cycle. Sending lots of baby vibes to you all and hope your all ok x

BertLiv · 07/10/2024 09:44

@lavafield Thank you! Now 8dp5dt and very slight occasional cramps, sore boobs and very gassy (sorry - TMI!), but aware they could all be down to the drugs! Weirdly, my soreness after my prontogest injections seems to be getting less, which is strange. But, I guess my body might just be getting used to them? I guess we'll know for sure either way next Saturday 🤞. We're moving house, so I've got plenty to distract myself with this week luckily.

@Joleyjojo Sorry to hear af arrived - but definitely try to stay positive for your next cycle! Sending you lots of baby dust!

Joleyjojo · 07/10/2024 09:48

@BertLiv trying to be positive. Had an absolute meltdown in next yesterday . New cycle new chances.

I will have my fingers crossed 🤞🏼 for you !!! Thank goodness you have a distraction because the wait is horrific. Xxxx

BertLiv · 08/10/2024 09:57

@Joleyjojo Meltdowns are completely understandable! In fact, I think it's good sometimes to let it all out! Hope you're feeling better today.

Thank you and yes, the distraction is good, but not working amazingly today. I had brown when I wiped this morning (sorry - TMI) and slightly worse cramps than yesterday, so my brain has gone into overdrive. My clinic says it's probably old blood and to monitor it and let them know if it gets worse - I really hope it's not a bad sign!

Hi, I’ve just found this thread and would love to join for some support!
I’m 42, been ttc for 5 years. No children so far. Did 2 rounds of ivf earlier this year but got no eggs 😭. We are going to try a natural modified cycle in November but still hoping it happens naturally in the meantime. I just started a thread because I had bright red bleeding and some cramps 7dpo, brown when I wiped on 8 and 9 dpo and now nothing. Usually get AF on 14 dpo. Did a test and bfn but it was only a 25ml sensitivity cheapie. Is there any point in me doing a frer tomorrow morning? I just don’t want to get my hopes up.

lavafield · 08/10/2024 13:33

Hi @AlleycatMarie , welcome, there are many of us in the same boat, so hope this group helps you. I am 43 trying for my first one too, but only cycle 6 now and I was told to try naturally for a bit first, due to high AMH levels and other hormones being normal. I would stay you still have a chance in case it was implantation but the pregnancy hormone is not yet being picked up by tests because yours was not very sensitive one or implantation is still ongoing or recent, and it doesn't yet filter into the tests. You can try frer tomorrow morning, would it be 10 DPO? Or wait one more day if you can! 🤞
@BertLiv I am also hoping it is nothing sinister for you, from what I have seen and read it is not uncommon to have sort of even mild bleeding in early pregnancy. Hope it settles though. Your test day is soon!
@Joleyjojo new cycle new hope! Stay positive!

AlleycatMarie · 08/10/2024 17:32

Hi @lavafield thanks for replying to my post!
I am terrible for testing early, I dread to think how much I have spent on tests over the last few years! I will try to hold out this time!
My AMH levels were good but have just massively dropped on my last blood test, which has really shocked me tbh.
Wishing you lots of baby dust!

BertLiv · 09/10/2024 08:49

@AlleycatMarie Hello! Welcome! This is a good group for support as there are so many people in similar situations (as lavafield said!). I'm 41 and we have been trying for just over 4 years. I have a very low AMH and so we are trying with DE. We have done 3 transfers so far, none of which were successful, and are now in the TWW of our 4th, with a different clinic, so hoping it's good news! Sorry to hear about the result of your IVF rounds earlier this year, that must've been really hard. I agree that you should push it as long as you can without testing - although I know it's easier said than done! Hopefully it'll end up being a good result!

@lavafield Thank you. It does seem to have settled, or got a lot less. Not really anything since yesterday afternoon, but I'm going to keep monitoring it today. Saturday and our result can't come soon enough!

AlleycatMarie · 09/10/2024 19:32

Hi @BertLiv I am keeping everything crossed for you!!! We have a natural modified ivf cycle next month but also on the waiting list for a DE! It’s so hard though, I know no one in real life who has used DE and feel so alone with it.
When do you plan to test? I so, so hope this is your time x

lavafield · 10/10/2024 08:21

I know two ladies in real life with DE babies and they are absolutely delighted and would not have changed anything!

BertLiv · 10/10/2024 09:38

@AlleycatMarie Thank you! So do we! The first clinic we were with had very few donors when we first got access, which was quite depressing, but we actually found someone pretty quickly. The second had more, and we ended up with a choice of 2. I have a blood test at the clinic tomorrow and we'll get the result on Saturday, so we have decided not to test at home. The result from the blood test will be more accurate anyway, and not long to wait.

Please don't feel alone. I don't know anyone in real life either but I know a woman (through a forum) that I chat to a lot on fb that has just had her little girl from a DE and she is over the moon. I'm nervous about aspects of it, and I was upset when it finally hit me that we needed to use DEs but, I will still be my child's mother, I will still have carried them for 9 months and, there will be difficulties, but there are with every child. Also, in case you didn't realise, the baby does get some DNA from inside the womb, so it will have 3 people's DNA - which is quite amazing.

Thanks @lavafield, that's always really nice to hear.

KitKatKathy · 10/10/2024 16:39

Hi everyone,

I'm 41 and about to start trying for my 3 child (first for DH). We’ve agreed to give ourselves 12 months, and if it doesn’t happen within that time, we’ll step away gracefully, content with the blessings we already have.

I stopped taking the pill last month, and my cycle returned on schedule (which I take as a good sign???) I’m looking forward to following everyone's progress towards that BFP.

curliegirlie · 10/10/2024 16:50

Welcome @KitKatKathy but a word of warning, after I had a surprise pregnancy swiftly followed by a MC in March 2022, we said we'd give it to the end of the year. I'm still here over 2.5 years on - I've found it impossible to bow out gracefully. AF is due tomorrow I think, I've had BFNs at 12dpo. I really should hang up my cape now, but it's bloody heartbreaking. I've got a loft full of stuff I could be getting rid of if I just make this sensible decision but it's truly breaking me to accept reality, even though I've already got 2 amazing daughters.

Good luck, and I so hope it happens for you!

@TT82 @Joleyjojo @lavafield Thank you all! We've got a long way ago, so trying to stay calm and not get over-excited.

@KitKatKathy Welcome! I would say that your cycle returning on schedule would be a good sign - fingers crossed! Good luck - I hope it happens quickly for you!
