Hi ladies, how is everyone doing?
@BertLiv I have followed your story here and I am really happy that the three wee embryos are of good quality! I know two ladies IRL who went via the donor egg route, it worked from the second try for them, with frozen embryos, and they are beyond happy! 😊 it is just a short wait for you!
@Room4onemore wishing you the best of luck! Ovulation tests are great, they pinpoint the most fertile days for me with such accuracy! Not that it has helped me conceive yet but I am only in cycle 4 trying, so I will give it a few more months before trying other options.
@User0141 fantastic news! Congratulations!! Hope it sticks 🤞🤞🤞

BertLiv · 22/08/2024 09:15

@User0141 Congratulations! I hope it does result in a happy ending!
@Room4onemore Hope it happens quickly for you! Ovulation tests are great - I had to use some more recently and, despite our not using my eggs, the smiley face still made me happy!
@lavafield Thank you! 😊So far, my body is behaving enough to follow our new plan - I have a blood test next week and then should have my downreg injection just after that. Then we'll book in a scan for after our holiday and then hopefully get things properly started! Hopefully it'll be lucky transfer # 4 for us!

wholeeverything · 23/08/2024 06:33

Hi everyone, hope I can join your journey.

I'm 40 and just starting TTC. Removed Mirena in May and had a period a week after, then one 35 day cycle followed by two 28 day cycles. First cycle I'd loads of EWCM, the next two only a day or so.

I'm realistic about outcomes but I have been encouraged that my periods have been like clockwork as I haven't had them in seven years with IUD.

This month I started tracking OPK and BBT as well as CM. I'm now D16 and had my strongest OPK yesterday morning but still not a full surge. Last night OPK was totally clear, no sign of LH at all. BBT this morning no rise.

I don't know what to make of all this. I'll get better at tracking (missed a few BBT days and one OPK day) and start using Premom app for more clarity.

But I suppose I'm just wondering, if I am having regular periods is that a fair sign that I'm at least ovulating regularly? If you don't ovulate does that mean you also miss a period?

I got hormones tested a year ago and came back all good.

Trying to not to get deflated prematurely 🙈😂😬

BertLiv · 02/09/2024 13:17

@wholeeverything Hi! Welcome! I don't have a definite answer for you, but I'm not sure how important regular periods are, just because I know of one person who has irregular ones, and she got pregnant naturally, and another who has very regular ones, but she is using donor eggs. However, I think if your hormones results came back good, that's got to be a good sign! Stay positive! I hope it happens quickly for you!

We now seem to finally have a plan. My downreg injection was delayed as it wasn't a follicle they saw at my scan 3 weeks ago, but a cyst (annoying, but not really surprised knowing my body), but I'm having it tomorrow and then we should hopefully start everything in a couple of weeks. I'm finding it quite hard to at the moment. I feel like I've really changed - my concentration levels are non-existent, when we see friends I'm either really quiet or talk non-stop, and my moods are so up and down it's ridiculous - the silliest things get me really angry or tearful and, if I'm not distracting myself, I just keep going over things in my head. Does anyone else have this? I feel quite sorry for my husband sometimes, but he understands, luckily!

curliegirlie · 02/09/2024 15:49

@wholeeverything if your darkest OPK was yesterday you'll probably ovulate today and so won't see a temp rise until tomorrow. Everyone's OPK surge patterns vary a bit but I find I go up and down very quickly, so anything above 0.15 or so on PreMom is an indication that ovulation is about to happen or has just happened for me.

SherlockHolmess · 03/09/2024 18:46

I’d love to join ladies if I may.

My stories a bit unusual in that we aren’t actually trying yet, wanting to start trying in Jan when I will be 3 months off 42 (can’t try before then for various reasons).

Anyway that was always the plan but April this year my periods went haywire. I’ve had one period since then. Randomly that was the month I’d been to the GP so my blood tests were actually taken on day 2 of that cycle - normal FSH and LH. Just had a private AMH and it’s super low (.34 pmol/L) so feeling pretty cut up.

We do have one DC conceived without really trying when I was nearly 38.

We will throw caution to the wind and just stop using contraception now and hang the consequences (who needs paid mat leave eh) but if I’m not having periods I’m not bloody ovulating am I.

Have started Maca root and will go back to the GP obvs. But feeling pretty down today.

Baby dust to everyone xx

BertLiv · 06/09/2024 09:29

@SherlockHolmess Welcome! Sorry you were feeling down - hope you're feeling a bit more positive today.

I have very low AMH as well and we are going down the DE route. I initially found the idea of it quite difficult, but have since realised that it will still be my baby, despite not being my egg! Just a backup for you in case the low AMH means you can't use your own eggs.

But, hopefully, it will instead just happen quickly when you do start trying!

Fletchasketch · 10/09/2024 11:11

Hello all,

Joining following a mmc at 8+2 weeks last month after an unplanned (yet very much wanted once we'd got over the shock) pregnancy aged 41. I'm still waiting for my period to return after surgical management, but hoping we can try again pretty quickly once it returns. Part of me is optimistic, the other (bigger part, I think) is terrified of being told once again that there's no heartbeat. A further complication is that they found a 3cm submucosal fibroid at the scan. Nobody seemed overly worried, but Google (I know!!) is telling a different story. I am having a private consultation on Thursday about said fibroid and nervous is not the word!
I am very new to this, so will take any and all guidance/inspiring stories. Wishing anyone reading this the very best of luck on their journey to becoming a mum.

SherlockHolmess · 10/09/2024 17:40

So sorry to hear about your MMC @Fletchasketch. I hope you are reassured at your appointment next week.

And thankyou @BertLiv for your lovely reply.

As an inspiring story to you @Fletchasketch and an update on my post last week - I found out literally the next day that I am in fact pregnant. I’m assuming that’s why my AMH was low! I was blaming the sore boobs on perimenopause! I’m 8.4 weeks.

At 41, with irregular periods and very rarely having sex without contraception.

So it can happen. I really do wish the best to everyone on here and so hope that you all get your dreams come true xx

Oh wow, huge congratulations that is wonderful news! I think we're almost the same age too as I'm 42 next May. I have everything crossed for a trouble-free pregnancy and a healthy baby next year.

SherlockHolmess · 10/09/2024 17:50

@Fletchasketch Thankyou so much. Best of luck xx

Fletchasketch · 12/09/2024 14:24

Quick update, saw the consultant today and the fibroid is not causing any issues and I have a 'normal healthy uterus'. Also gave some recommendations for prenatal vitamins etc. so came away feeling very positive after the last month of sadness. He also said I musn't view myself as being 'too old' as there are endless factors that go into making a baby and age is only one of them. Nice man.

MariaDingbat · 15/09/2024 08:30

Congratulations @SherlockHolmess!! Wonderful news!

@Fletchasketch I had a small 3cm fibroid found during my first pregnancy at 40, no concerns were raised and it wasn't really mentioned again so no idea what happened to it! I fell pregnant again just after I turned 42 and there's was no mention of it at all. I agree with your doctor, age is just one factor. Good luck with everything!

Fletchasketch · 15/09/2024 12:22

@MariaDingbat this is just exactly the reassurance I needed, thank you. And big congratulations too :)

Whisper99 · 15/09/2024 20:58

Hi Ladies

I'm going to be 41 in December. We have decided to have a second child. My daughter is 10 years old.

GP sent me for some tests, bloods and US but still haven't done anything yet.

I'm not familiar with abbreviations unfortunately.

I had three mirena coils, the last one was removed two months ago, so I'm still getting used to having periods back.

I will start tracking ovulation after my next period, which I am expecting in the next 5-7 days.

Joleyjojo · 15/09/2024 21:40

Hi ladies. Hope I can join. I’m not quite 40. Turn 40 in January.
I had a chemical pregnancy in June and became pregnant straight away. I had a MMC at 9+2 found out at 9+5. Surgical management 2 weeks and 5 days ago.
i did a PG test today which was stark white negative and have very mixed emotions. I cried for what I had lost but pleased that I can start TTC again. Although if I become pregnant again the anxiety will ruin the experience I just know it.
I have been doing LH tests which are so very far from positive , I have started using OvuSense again tonight. I am trying to stay positive.
sending all the luck to everyone xxxx

Hi Jeleyjojo

Sorry about the miscarriage... The main thing is that you can get pregnant. We can hold each others hands during the initial stages of pregnancy because unfortunately the chances of miscarriage are higher with age. But there are so many positive stories that I believe it will happen for us as well.

What is LH tests - to track ovulation? And what is OvuSense?

Thanks

lavafield · 16/09/2024 12:58

Hi @Joleyjojo , sorry about your miscarriage, be gentle with yourself as you go on trying, maybe it will take your body some time to adjust and the next ovulation will come a bit later?! There are many stories of people getting pregnant soon after MC.

@Whisper99 LH tests are ovulation tests. LH surges to a peak some 18-24-36 hours before actual ovulation.
(Mine definitely seems to come within a shorter window). As a rule, it is best to have sex as soon as LH starts rising/peaks.

We have had timing issues this month and only DTD 4 days before ovulation and day after, so not holding my hopes.

I haven't had a faintest BFP over the 5 months trying, even though I def ovulate as confirmed by the progesterone test and I always physically feel ovulation.

It has been 3 months since trying CoQ10 and vitamin D, so hoping my egg quality has improved now. I turned 43 recently trying for the first one...

@BertLiv where are you in your transfer process now? Keeping fingers crossed! 🤞

winteralwaysturnstospring · 16/09/2024 13:42

Hello,
I'm trying to conceive #2, I'm 40. Had my first at 35 and been commitedly trying now for over a year. Was pregnant earlier this year but MMS at 12 weeks. Waiting to see how we got on this month. Came here as I find the last week of the waiting each month crazy making. And wondered if there was a space were I could hear other's feelings on it so it didn't feel so lonely.
Also looking for some poems or podcast recommendations on it. A lot are on the hope for the future but I wanted to lean into the present moment of the waiting bit as that's the bit I find so uncomfortable.

So sorry to hear about the miscarriage, it's just an awful experience to have to go through. I had an MMC last month, and my period has started today which feels like a bit of closure on the last month of sadness. Onwards and upwards from here to us all.

@WhiteOleander3105 too blurry to tell I'm afraid, but would recommend doing the test first thing for the best results. Good luck!

BertLiv · 18/09/2024 08:52

@winteralwaysturnstospring Hi! Sorry to hear you're feeling so lonely - I completely understand. I listened to the podcast BFN and really enjoyed it, they cover most topics on it and I found it really good to hear about people who were in a similar position to me.

@WhiteOleander3105 I'm afraid I agree...too blurry to see at the moment - but hopefully there'll be a clear positive soon!

@Joleyjojo So sorry about your miscarriage. Try to stay positive and take care of yourself.

@lavafield Thank you! I had a scan on Monday and my lining looked nice and thin so I have now started my meds. Another scan and blood test on Friday and then, hopefully, we will have a transfer date which I assume could be next week! It's gone from being ages away to potentially very soon very quickly! Just hoping everything looks good on Friday now...

I hope the vitamins have worked for you and that you get your positive very soon!

MariaDingbat · 18/09/2024 20:56

@Joleyjojo I'm so sorry for your loss. I could have written a very similar post a few years ago. I had a chemical pregnancy in June when I was 39, then fell pregnant the next cycle but it ended in a MMC at 7+5 weeks, with surgical management. I turned 40 the following January and then fell pregnant again in the March. It was an emotionally difficult few months between the miscarriage and the pregnancy but thankfully it all worked out. I found using Clearview digital ovulation trackers were a great help to identify my fertile window. I now have a 1 year old and a 3 year old at 44 with uncomplicated pregnancies and healthy babies. Good luck with everything!

lavafield · 19/09/2024 09:29

@BertLiv so soon! Good luck with it, hope it goes the best possible way!

That is very similar. I have had 2 days of negative PG tests now. My LH test strip is actually getting a bit darker too. I am just going to be every other day from now on 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I wasn’t sure initially if I wanted to try again because the heartache is so awful but since feeling a bit better I 100% want to try asap. I am hoping to be one of those that catches straight away and think positive but I also need to be a realist and protect my heart. What a journey this all is.
sending hope and positive vibes to us all x
