Hi all, hope you are enjoying the Sunday :)

Wanted to ask if anyone had side effects from taking melatonin? I've decided to add it after reading It starts with an egg book, as last 2 yesrs had bad sleep, which probably also added to bad egg quality.
2 days I am taking 1mg before bed and wake up with extremely bad headache, calming down by lunch only.. Not sure if it is melatonin side effect or just some sort of virus. Also did anyone notice good effect of adding ot on quality of egg or just feeling?

My second EC scheduled for 1st of December approximately, want to add any supplements that might help

TT82 · 30/09/2023 13:24

Forgot to add, I live in Europe and order from Germany, no need for prescription as it is classified as supplement not drug

BertLiv · 01/10/2023 08:40

@Marvellouslymadmum No matter what I do, the what if is always in the back of my mind!

I’ve just taken a first response with FMU and negative again. I’ll be a week late tomorrow (working from when I ovulated) and so, sadly, I think it’s just another delayed period. I’m going to call my clinic tomorrow for advice as still hesitant to take the norethisterone, just in case I am, despite the fact that it’s very unlikely. Not really sure what else I can do, other than try to find a private blood test.

Hope everyone else is having a better start to their Sunday!

praying4babba · 01/10/2023 17:11

My doctor suggested melatonin. I tried it but always felt so hungover with it the next day.

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/10/2023 23:39

@TT82 sorry I've not used melatonin but I know lots of autistic children and those with adhd take it without side effects

@BertLiv I'm sorry, it's really frustrating! I wish there was a way no know absolutely then as disappointing as it is, at least you know!

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/10/2023 23:48

I have a little news here - when I spoke to the doctor he said he didn't know why they did fsh without oestrogen as it means nothing without it and he wasn't concerned. I then finally got a phone call about my gynaecologist appointment! I thought it may be too late now but I'll go anyway, it was a last minute appointment and he said he is going to give me tranexamic acid to help with the af heaviness and pain but yes it is highly likely I have endometriosis and he will call me in 5 months 🙄 to see how that works but if I'm happy he will put be down for a laparoscopy 🎉 I've only been asking for 2.5 years!! He also said I'm probably in peri menopause but that's standard for my age and the laparoscopy will likely help with fertility too for natural or donor egg. Only thing is it may be a year until I have one meaning I could be post menopausal by then but at least I'll have the best chance with de! I could've cried when he just listened and agreed with me when everyone else has been so dismissive! Would've been nice if it had been sorted years ago but at least it may still help!

TT82 · 02/10/2023 06:40

@Marvellouslymadmum oh what a pain you are going through 🥺 and all this frustration and delays! Hopefully after you will be rewarded by a healthy pregnancy ❤️

Update on my melatonin usage, headaches stopped and I think it was a virus, which my son had before me and now my husband fighting it with similar horrible headache.

Hi @Supertrooper101

I don't have links sorry but if you search then the previous groups appear for you to read.
I'm sorry about your MMC, I have experienced 2 x MMC in a row and know how painful it can be. My 3rd pregnancy resulted in my gorgeous boy and im now ttc #2

BertLiv · 02/10/2023 10:13

@Marvellouslymadmum I know. I've called the clinic this morning and am awaiting a call back. I'm going to ask them if they think there's still any chance and, if not, if they know where I can get a scan or blood test. Annoyingly, when we started with them they had someone 30 minutes from us who could have given me a scan, but she retired and they haven't replaced her. Sorry to hear it's taken so long, but glad the doctor is finally listening to you! I had a laparoscopy last year and was on a waiting list for 9 months, but we did look up the cost of going private and it not cheap, but certainly worth looking around if you can afford it. We didn't because I was having a hysteroscopy as well, so it was even more pricey!

Hi @Supertrooper101 - welcome! I'm 40, have had no pregnancies (that I know of) and am currently waiting for AF to arrive so that we can start the donor egg process.

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/10/2023 12:30

@BertLiv I'd rather save my money for the de ivf so I'll wait for the laparoscopy and hope it's not too long a wait!
Hopefully your clinic will get back to you asap

Autumngirl7 · 02/10/2023 13:03

Good afternoon everyone. I am 43 and thought I was done with babies. Have 2 ds 18 & 7. Recently I can’t look at a pram without feeling broody and feel overwhelmed with my maternal urges. I had lost several babies and scared of loss. Last list was a medical termination in April. I really am scared that I am too old please don’t be offended just what I’ve been made to feel. Really need some people to connect with. X

BertLiv · 02/10/2023 16:15

@Marvellouslymadmum Yeah, that's one of the reasons we didn't go private. Clinic have called and they need to speak to the doctor before advising me properly. He is already gone home for the day, but hopefully I'll get my answer tomorrow.

TraceyTarotReader · 03/10/2023 10:04

@Autumngirl7 welcome I think we all go through the broody stage I’m 52 yes I know that’s old to even consider ttc but I’m NTNP I have had secondary infertility since I was 33 yrs old I have 3 children from previous relationship and 3 baby angels with my current husband I think getting older makes you want it even more I’m obviously younger than you but I’ll be here if you would like to chat all the best x

lillypilly7 · 03/10/2023 10:45

@Autumngirl7 @TraceyTarotReader would love to connect as well..
I've just turned 45, TTC number 2. Been trying for about 18 months....nothing.
Although im not sure we are TTC enough, on the right days 😣🤪

TraceyTarotReader · 03/10/2023 13:51

@lillypilly7 nice of you to join us I don’t think there are any 50+ ttc on here unless there is and to embarrassed to say I was like that though now I don’t care I used to get judged even by friends and they used to make me cry and made me feel I am too old to ttc but they didn’t know my story I don’t have them as friends anymore but here’s to wishing you the very best on your ttc journey .

do you do anything to help you to conceive like track ovulation with opks BBT supplements I’m doing opks bbt and vitamin D and folic acid my cycles have been a little wacky for a couple of months ovulating later or not ovulating I think perimenopause has finally hit me x

Cate78xx · 03/10/2023 17:05

Hi thought I’d say hello. I’m 45 and have just decided to ttc after having first in 2020 without any difficulties.

my partner is really keen but I confess I’m quite scared after a bit of a google rabbit hole and a huge feeling of personal responsibility.. am I being selfish? Am I opening myself up for a lot of unnecessary sadness?

Have ordered a wealth of prenatals following the it takes an egg book advice. Also ordered the ovu sense monitor as no idea if I’m ovulating.
Going to wait til I’ve taken them for 3 months before officially ttc.

I only finished breastfeeding my son in April and have been on some hrt at that time due to low estrogen which doctor said could be perimenopause or due to the extended breastfeeding.

feel a bit of a mess and not sure if I’m mad to try this. Worried to ask GP for advice on anything as historically they’ve been so uneducated and unhelpful with pms and negative about pregnancy at 40 let alone 45

sorry for first post turning into a Debbie downer one!
wishing you all baby dust and health xx

TT82 · 03/10/2023 20:18

You are all so inspiring ladies!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your stories ❤️

praying4babba · 03/10/2023 20:33

I think you ladies are wonderful and whoever makes you cry or makes you feel any other way apart from the joy, dismiss them !!!!
we are here for you ! I am awaiting my ovu kit to arrive , so far cd 16 and no ovulation . Was put into menopause for three months as have adenomyosis

Autumngirl7 · 03/10/2023 20:35

This is a random question but I am worried that there may be a part of me that wants another baby r wise it’s my last chance to experience motherhood again. Think I’m losing the plot!

praying4babba · 03/10/2023 20:41

I think if your urge and want is there constantly and not just a fleeting moment do it !! Don’t live with regret

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/10/2023 21:16

@Autumngirl7 hi and welcome, I'm sorry to hear of your journey. I too have two children but mine are 17 & 18 from my previous relationship, one loss and no luck since. We will hopefully be moving on to de once I've had my laperoscopy 🤞🏻 I am 44 and I don't feel too old x

@BertLiv did you find anything out?

@TraceyTarotReader how are you doing? Not spoken for a while

@lillypilly7 hi and welcome! Have you tried doing it every other day for a whole month? It's a lot but works for some

@Cate78xx welcome to you too! If you're crazy we all are! I've spoken to a couple of negetive docs but I have to say the majority of doctors, nurses, and others have been very positive saying they know loads of others that have had babies into their 50's! The only advice I have is don't wait! If you're on contraceptive it's better to stop sooner than later I didn't and regret it now!

@praying4babba I have adenomyosis too, would love to chat more about it, I don't know a great deal!

For those that are new I do have children as mentioned above, they're 17 & 18 my partner has two 15 & 16 we have none together, one loss 5 years ago then nothing since, I have adenomyosis and probably endometriosis and I'm on the list for a laparoscopy as soon as that's done I'm off for doner egg or maybe a tandem cycle if I have any eggs left 😂

GingerFox2021 · 03/10/2023 21:23

@praying4babba oh yes! This is me ..

Cate78xx · 03/10/2023 21:37

I’m not on any contraception. Tbh a 3 year old has been pretty good contraception as we’re always too tired or he’s sleeping in our bed! 😂
do you all think I should wait and take the prenatals to improve my egg quality for 3 months or jump straight in?

I only took folic acid last time and didn’t think anything of it but now I’ve read a little and have £200 worth of tablets arriving which is ridiculous I know! Even the thought of them is terrifying me somehow. It feels a lot more pressure this time.
