@Eirlys1986 absolutely. And I think you're right, I should try that. Nothing to lose. It's been really eye opening to me (after trying) how I always thought guys are just good to go whenever wherever. (And maybe some are!!) Mines an overthinker, bless him 🥰

@TrudyProud oh I have no idea where you find the strength to wait till Monday!!! I would have already tested 😅
I will ask him today if he prefers I don't tell him. It makes sense if he doesn't. I just thought he wanted to know but it might be putting pressure on him more than the excitement that we could be making another baby.

Hi sorry to jump in and join, I’ve just come across the thread. We are onto our 2nd cycle of ttc, we have a 14 year old, 3 year old and sandly we lost our baby boy at 24 weeks in December. My husband is always up for dtd no matter what time of day it is lol but we’ve never actively tried to get pregnant in the past it’s just naturally happened. He absolutely hates the idea of the ovulation tests and the strict routine that it could end up, he works long hours and guaranteed the days I know are my fertile window he has put in a 14 hour day, I have now learned that through the night is best if you wake … just snuggle into him, give him a little wiggle and bobs your uncle … he’s there to attention, slightly sleepy but very happy haha. This month we will be on holiday.. in a family room so no hope for us unfortunately… saying that I’m hoping we can squeeze in a little morning quicky on Saturday before we leave for the airport and that might cover the days

TrudyProud · 28/04/2023 05:53

@VixFromThe6ix it's 550am, both my toddler and DH are asleep- I really want to test now .
Gaaah, this was the hardest part last time as well.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 28/04/2023 07:49

@Toddy21 I'm so very sorry to hear about your baby boy x Welcome to the group.

I also was about to say there are always nap times maybe on holiday, but then saw you also have a 14 year old, so maybe not!

Mrsspoon3 · 28/04/2023 08:04

@TheFanciestPants So glad your GP was reassuring. I hope you’re feeling bit better xx

@TrudyProud Honestly in awe of your patience and willpower! I ended up testing last time in the middle of the night while staying at my mum’s without my husband, so my mum was the first person I told before him 🙈 Haha.

@Toddy21 Welcome to the group! 😊 I’m so sorry to hear about your baby boy x

I agree with everyone it’s so hard to schedule DTD. When we conceived my baby boy I was actually convinced I wasn’t pregnant that month as we only DTD the day I ovulated and 2 days before as my husband had recently had hip surgery and we’d run out of steam a bit, whereas other months we’d been doing it constantly! That was probably a fluke but makes me feel a bit better if we don’t manage it as much this time!

Mrsspoon3 · 28/04/2023 08:05

@Muriel84 Ooh nice to have a cycle buddy! 😁 Although you’ll probably be ahead of me with everything soon given my super long cycles 🙈 Haha

Mummyme87 · 28/04/2023 08:21

@Toddy21 welcome 🤗 sorry to hear about your beautiful baby boy.

So I think I’m 1dpo today. Think I ovulated last night, was crampy yesterday evening. We DTD O-3, O-1 and O. I doubt we will get another in tonight, I’m bloody exhausted. Wasn’t expecting to get positive OPk on Wednesday, all came a day early so messed with my sex plans

Toddy21 · 28/04/2023 09:02

Thank you ladies, i think the worst part about it was I was 45 mins away from being a full 24 weeks, so for the sake of those few minutes he doesn’t exist to real world, no birth certificate, no death certificates nothing other than an investigation into what happened, an investigation of pure lies from the NHS that we have to now dispute. His due date was a few weeks ago and to be honest that hit me like a million bricks, way harder than I thought it would or way more than I was prepared for, my husband the same, and although we get through things together we deal with them differently which I found so hard to the point i almost pushed him away … but we got there and realised how much we do need each other. We were told we had to wait until the initial investigation was complete before trying again but it took so much longer and I was worried that time might not be on my side (39) my husband has said he doesn’t want to hear about the ovulation tests or temperatures and I don’t want to take the fun or spontaneous out of it all so for us we tent do just stick with it every other day fertile or not but during my non fertile window we tend to have more fun oral and just a quicky here and there when the kids are out and we find ourself with a few mins to ourselves, he might sneak into the bathroom if I’m in the bath for a little fumble and I do the same when he’s in the shower just to keep the fun in it rather than strict stressful routine.

Mummyme87 · 28/04/2023 09:43

I hope you get the answers you need from the investigation @Toddy21 I’m a midwife so know it’s a long hard process.
Everything crossed for you in ttc your next baby, glad you’ve been able to keep the fun and spontaneity

Toddy21 · 28/04/2023 10:01

Thank you :) to be honest all my midwives we absolutely amazing it was the consultants and registrars that make the mistake, they sent me home with open waters after telling my midwife she was wrong, they took away the antibiotics that had been prescribed that day for possible infection… 3 days later I had contracted sepsis and almost wasn’t here myself, this in itself has scared my husband to

Toddy21 · 28/04/2023 10:05

even think about getting a positive, the chances of it happening again are so slim and a plan is in place to treat for any infection in the early stages, extra scans and swabs done throughout. The longer the months go on the less hopeful I become though especially with my age, he has good healthy swimmers so fingers crossed … and fingers crossed we all get the BFP super soon :)

TheFanciestPants · 28/04/2023 10:40

@Toddy21 so sorry for your loss, I am not surprised the due date hit you hard. I think that's completely normal and very understandable. I hope you get the answers you need and find the peace you deserve. I found my scheduled 12 week scan date pretty awful but I am 100% sure that pales in comparison.

So we did first day so SMEP last night. Apparently with a 24 day cycle it is important to start asap. We have bought a fertilily for this cycle (I do feel like a vulnerable idiot preyed on by marketing but what can you do!). I think it went ok (I use a menstrual cup as an eco warrior!) as way less leaked out than usual but there wasn't much in it at the end (TMI I know). Has anyone else used one and is this normal?

@Eirlys1986 @VixFromThe6ix I am now feeling guilty as maybe I should be nicer to my DH. Equally he seems pretty happy with the arrangement. He even wrote me a cute little song yesterday (which he hasn't done in ages!) so maybe I am overthinking 😂

Eirlys1986 · 28/04/2023 11:58

@TheFanciestPants ahhh he is definitely still a happy man if he’s writing you songs, that’s so lovely 🥰
I am on CD12 still keeping to the smep plan although we are due to dtd tonight and other half out till late so probably won’t bother, I’m not too fussed though as still reading completely negative on OPK so think I’ll be ovulating late this cycle- varies from day 14-17 so who the hell knows what will happen this time! 😂 Good luck for the smep plan this cycle! X

VixFromThe6ix · 28/04/2023 12:42

@Toddy21 welcome to the group! I'm so sorry to hear about your baby boy and your terrible experience. I hope you get answers. I hope your bfp comes soon!! 🙏

@TheFanciestPants ok that's the cutest thing ever. He wrote you a song??? Ugh so so so cute!!! He sounds like a happy man ❤️

We didn't DTD last night either, so I am out this cycle. He was about to go home from work when a client called that he was on the way to see him, so instead of finishing at 5, he finished after 7. And he had a hockey game at 9. So he came home to grab his stuff, give us kisses and left. Is it what it is... Only slight feeling of hope is that we did it two days before ovulation, but yeah not holding my breath.

OP posts:
Eirlys1986 · 28/04/2023 13:12

@VixFromThe6ix its so difficult to always get timing right every month so not to worry.

You never know though, I actually didn’t DTD on predicted ovulation day when I first got pregnant- according to my calendar we did it 5 days prior, day after then missed two days then one day after that so go figure! 😂 Either I had a delay in ovulating or those sperms really raced up there or the 5 days prior ones really hung out like absolute troopers till the end 😆

VixFromThe6ix · 28/04/2023 15:02

@Eirlys1986 my app says two days before o-day is still high fertility so who knows .. but once in the fertile window is really pushing luck haha
If by miracle we get pregnant next cycle, baby would have a birthday close to my son lol cause that's the cycle we got pregnant with my son. 🤔 Two for one bdays? 🤣

OP posts:
Eirlys1986 · 28/04/2023 16:55

@VixFromThe6ix 😂, that would really p* your son off! I know it certainly would mine! 😆 one successful swimmer is all it takes so you never know!

Mummyme87 · 28/04/2023 20:09

@VixFromThe6ix if this is our cycle I’ll be due a week after mine and my DS2 birthday, he’s 14th Jan and I’m 15th jan!

VixFromThe6ix · 28/04/2023 22:48

@Eirlys1986 you're right, it just takes one!!! Come on little swimmers!!!!! And omg I would feel terrible if they shared a bday.... I'd still try to make it so it's two bdays for as long as I can. Though when they are older and each have their friends it's one big fun party

@Mummyme87 omg! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Kinda neat, but expensive January for your family haha my son was due Feb 3 (conceived in May) but was born January 18th last year so if it's this cycle and I'm on time or next and I'm early, I could have two babies with close bdays!!

OP posts:
Mummyme87 · 28/04/2023 23:09

@VixFromThe6ix I really was thinking I would lay off the going all out on ttc when the due date was January to avoid another birthday, but now I really don’t care.

VixFromThe6ix · 28/04/2023 23:23

@Mummyme87 with so many obstacles in the way, I would not wanna skip any month to be honest. The fact that this cycle went sideways for us didn't feel good at all.

I got my ultrasound and blood work scheduled for next Tuesday for the fertility clinic. I'm very nervous about the results already lol but I know this is a good step in the right direction. Especially the AMH test.... Already getting anxious

Muriel84 · 29/04/2023 13:30

@VixFromThe6ix @Mummyme87 CD8 here so just started smep again. Checked my due date if this was our cycle - OH’s birthday! LO’s is late feb so would be next cycle.

@VixFromThe6ix great you’re being seen so quickly x

Mrsspoon3 · 29/04/2023 17:06

Hope all goes well with the tests @VixFromThe6ix!
Good luck @Muriel84! I don’t think I could do smep as it l starts so soon for me on CD8 as I don’t normally ovulate until about day 21. I’d be worn out haha 😂

Angelsrose · 29/04/2023 21:26

I'm CD6, TTC no.1, cycle 4. I've added a few supplements this month. I've been on folate, omega 3, vitamin d, zinc and vitamin c for a while. I've just added CoQ10 and a Boots pre-conception vitamin. I'm also going to focus on improving my diet and increasing my exercise whilst decreasing my stress. I'm currently listening to "It starts With The Egg" on Audible which has some useful advice.
