@Eirlys1986 oh good luck mama!! I dunno how you do it ahahaha we did it twice in the last 4 days and it's a record for us lately, I'm hoping we can manage tonight. 🤣🤣🤣

I've cut out sugar and carbs too so that might have contributed to my energy levels. I need to lose some weight. I wouldn't feel comfortable getting pregnant at this weight. And I got no one but myself and my emotional eating to blame. (I guess so could blame Lindt for making such good damn chocolate 😂😂😂😂)

@Un7breakable don’t take it off just yet, I’m on the first day of trying! 😂. I just know when I got pregnant first time round we had inadvertently “smepped” out of impatience to get a positive

Eirlys1986 · 26/04/2023 17:55

@VixFromThe6ix I’m in the same boat with the weight, I am about a stone over what I would like to be ideally but at least I’m a few pounds lighter than first time round getting pregnant. However, I don’t know how long this will be the case for…we do unfortunately have a lot of Easter eggs including a Lindt one in the house 🙄

Mummyme87 · 26/04/2023 19:11

@VixFromThe6ix I got a positive OPK today also CD11, a day earlier than expected. Which means we definitely need to DTD tonight, and after work tomorrow which I’m not fond of, and Friday. Only managed Monday night so far!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 26/04/2023 19:17

@TheFanciestPants hope you're feeling better soon. I'm sorry, it's rubbish.
We did the same with It Starts With The Egg, also veggie and already eat similar plant heavy diet as they suggest. Last time from memory I changed out all plastics and got glass containers and wooden spoons etc and natural toiletries as well.

@VixFromThe6ix and @Eirlys1986 go you with proper effort!! I'm in my fertile week, and a sickness bug is here. Poor little one can't stop throwing up, and I'm starting to feel rough. We realised that in the 6 months of trying, we've had only one relatively healthy fertile week

VixFromThe6ix · 26/04/2023 19:24

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it takes a lot more out of us this time around to give it the same kind of dedication we gave it first time around. I'm permanently tired and my hubby got a new job and so his hours are long and he comes home very tired, as well. So I feel you.... DTD once in a fertile window is not anywhere close to ideal but sometimes it's all we are capable of.
Oh no I hope he feels better soon!!!! Hope you don't catch the bug, can't imagine taking care of the toddler, being sick and still having to DTD lol maybe it's just me but sex just became a bit of a chore these days. It's sad but till this kid is older and we get proper sleep I feel like that's gonna be the case.

@Mummyme87 I told my hubby we gotta go tonight after that super dark opk, and he didn't sound thrilled ("we will try") lol today his day ends late so he will be home close to 8pm and I know he's looking forward to just having dinner and watching his podcasts on YouTube.

@VixFromThe6ix we're joking that our little one knows, and wants to scupper a sibling! No other explanation for so much sickness around the fertile weeks....

I definitely get you there, sometimes it's so much nicer to get home from work and eat some dinner with Netflix. It's like another thing to tick off really, especially when not in the mood (and sickness bug really doesn't put me in the mood!) Hope you guys manage to muster some energy tonight

Eirlys1986 · 26/04/2023 20:00

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 oh no! It’s hard enough when you’ve got little ones to get the energy to do sexy time without additional stress of a vomming child on your hands! Just try your best given the circumstances I say!
I started OPK cheapie tests today then discovered some of my leftover clear blue fancy ones so did one of those too out of interest and got a big fat zero(unsurprising at CD10 but it really makes me feel like dtd tonight is just a waste of everyone’s time but I know that’s not the thought process behind the smep, I’ll see how we feel later on)
@VixFromThe6ix your hubby sounds like mine bless him, so hard when you are so tired and just want to fleurp and watch tv together. I actually offered my partner a reprieve on starting the smep method the other night and told him I didn’t mind starting a day or so late but he was a brave little soldier and agreed to get going (so selfless) 😂

Mrsspoon3 · 26/04/2023 20:19

@TheFanciestPants Yeah I didn’t change much after reading It Starts with the Egg as I’m veggie and have a healthy diet and lifestyle really too, but I swapped some plastic kitchen utensils and the kettle for metal ones and started taking ubiquinol. I just liked the idea you can change the quality of your eggs even now.

Muriel84 · 26/04/2023 21:08

Good luck all you ladies with positive OPKs! @Mummyme87 nice to hear from you - I had wondered if you’re doing ok. Last month we SMEP but I was on leave from work. Mustering the energy to go on a work night is something else. I’m so pooped this eve.

@Eirlys1986 i might skip the first smep as it did feel a bit of a chore by the end for me even if it didn’t for OH! Similarly we DTD tons last time. I can’t do things by halves. Altho the first one falls on this Saturday for us I think, I guess it’s nice to start on a weekend a bit more chill! CD8 feels so early. A few of my friends fell pregnant with their second not using opks but just DTD every other day… how the heck they had the energy. One concentrated effort a month is enough! 🙈

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 sorry to hear your LO is poorly, vomiting is the worse when they’re small.

@VixFromThe6ix good luck this eve! 🍀🤞 it’s super cold here too. Such bleugh weather. X x

Eirlys1986 · 26/04/2023 21:41

@Muriel84 I agree, I considered starting smep at cd10 instead of 8 but then thought I may as well try to do it as “properly” as possible since this is the first time I’m trying it out. I am really not feeling it this evening though….partner is hauled up in our bedroom watching the Man City match and I’m sat with my mum and the dogs in the living room! 😆

Mrsspoon3 · 26/04/2023 21:51

Good luck to everyone with positive OPKs. We’ve not started trying yet (still on day 5 of my cycle) but hearing how exhausted you all are with it has got me feeling a bit apprehensive now haha 🙈😂

TheFanciestPants · 27/04/2023 12:49

Thanks for the lovely support. @Un7breakable @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @Mrsspoon3 @Muriel84 @Eirlys1986 how are you all doing today?

My cycle ended abruptly yesterday and I now have EWCM so will be cracking on this evening (CD7 but I have a short cycle so who knows!). I haven't used OPKs before but have them this month so will use my first one when I get home.

When I looked at my charts the months we got pregnant were the months with the most DTD so I think we will try and do SMEP too.

I saw the GP today and she was lovely and made me feel a bit better. She said it is a really frustrating place to be in but there's lots of time and to keep trying. My husband will do SA in the next week or two so fingers crossed that works out ok.

Having a massive argument with my health insurer about my follow up appointment for the spotting. The consultant said to wait 6 months the plan has restrictions around timescales 🤔. It has got better and I didn't have it for a few months at all
But I did have a tiny bit of pink (maybe a day or so then it stopped) this month and the month we definitely conceived. This month it stopped for 4 days or so and then my period started. Could this the much fabled implantation bleeding or is it what others are experiencing?

Eirlys1986 · 27/04/2023 14:01

@TheFanciestPants good luck with the smep! I am on CD11 now and so far managed to keep with the plan. I too have noted when we got successfully pregnant it was a month with a lot of dtd so exhausting as it can be we will crack on with it. I’m glad to hear your Gp made you feel a bit better but sorry about the insurer. Good luck with everything this month 🍀 x

VixFromThe6ix · 27/04/2023 16:52

Well, we didn't DTD last night. So this was a waste of a cycle. Maybe tonight if it's not too late as I think ovulation is today... Husband is home earlier and hopefully less tired.
We both hate scheduled sex. How do you all make it less... Appointment-ey?

OP posts:
TheFanciestPants · 27/04/2023 17:05

@VixFromThe6ix urgh, how annoying! I completely agree it's getting gradually more and more appointment-y. Sometimes I even feel a bit like Monica from friends 😂

Muriel84 · 27/04/2023 17:18

@Eirlys1986 ah well done you! 👏 my mum stays a couple of nights a week to help with childcare. We have a tiny flat! It’s not easy…

@TheFanciestPants I’m fine thanks hun. V busy day at work not much time to obsess 😂I’ve obsessed over my past charts and we were def DTD lots, like every day of FW and regularly either side too. I have no idea about the spotting. Does my head in.

@VixFromThe6ix fortunately my partner sees the funny side of scheduled sex… so we’ve kept it light so far!

@Mrsspoon3 im CD6 today too! Hi cycle buddy 👋

Eirlys1986 · 27/04/2023 17:58

@VixFromThe6ix I just vaguely “warn” my other half that smep time approacheth. I then tend to try to do something vaguely nice like a chat in the bath or watching a nice show etc then will bring it up at that point whether he fancies dtd that evening based upon where we are with things. It does feel awkward but I think making it funny and maybe sharing with him that all the other couples on here feel the same and are knackered tends to help the situation too!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/04/2023 18:02

@Eirlys1986 ohh you're so nice about it! I just say right, it's tonight, tomorrow, the next day etc 🤣 he doesn't seem to mind. Maybe I should make more effort in my approach

Un7breakable · 27/04/2023 18:31

Not sure if we're going to give this cycle a miss or not now. I've been referred for a CT scan and you can't be pregnant for it. I did say to GP if appointment falls in TWW can I just move the appointment and they said that was fine but then part of me says get the CT done as soon as possible rather than having to wait 3 weeks until after my next period. Anyone had similar?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/04/2023 18:41

@Un7breakable yeah if I was in your position I think I'd feel the same. To just get it done, and then go for it the following month. It's always rubbish to have to miss a cycle though

VixFromThe6ix · 27/04/2023 21:34

@TheFanciestPants the funny (and maybe sad) part is that I relate to Monica more than I think I should ahahaha but there is something so unsexy about appointment sexy time.

@Muriel84 you're lucky! Mine doesn't think it's funny 🤣 but we managed for baby #1...hope we manage for baby #2. I'm thinking maybe I should not tell him when I'm fertile so at least to him it feels spontaneous lol

@Eirlys1986 I can definitely try to be more sexy leading up to it I guess haha I just don't feel sexy lately so it's hard to pretend. Ugh who knew this would be an issue on top of everything else 😂 I do tell him everyone else is going through the same, like we did this for baby #1!! Who knew when we were younger that there is such a thing as being too tired to do it 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
Eirlys1986 · 27/04/2023 21:40

@VixFromThe6ix oh don’t get me wrong I don’t do anything to be sexy as I agree there is very little for me to feel sexy about at present! I just like having a bath 🛁 😂 and it gives me an opportunity to introduce the topic to him in a relatively relaxed mode. Let’s face it, bottom line is we are all now over 35, our lives being ruled by tiny tyrannical toddlers and we are understandably on our knees tired xxx ps I think your idea of just jumping on him at fertile time and not telling him that’s what is about to happen is likely best. He’ll of course know what’s going on but hopefully it gives him the semblance of spontaneity 😆 x

TrudyProud · 27/04/2023 21:47

@VixFromThe6ix personally I didn't tell DH when I thought I was ovulating I just suggested an early night 😉. We ended up DTD 4 times over what I think was my fertile window. I see it as we could get the 2nd DC we want and worse case we get to have adult time. He said he prefers this.

With TTC DD I used the OPKs and was militant. Helped by the fact we were newlyweds and he was excited to no longer use protection 🤣

Let's see how we get on . 11DPO tomorrow but waiting till Monday to test as promised DH I wouldn't without him. Can't lie I keep waiting to test tomorrow then re-test on his return but not sure if I could pretend I didn't know the answer. Gaagh
