Hello, mind if I join? I’m 38, TTC with our first after an mmc in March. I’m on cd 23. My previous period was very heavy and long (normal after mcs I think) so I’m not entirely sure when AF will come this month as everything might still be a bit haywire.

I’m not super hopeful as we didn’t DTD much around ovulation, but it only takes one bonk to make a baby right?! 😂I’m going to wait as long as possible to test if I can.

I’ve got very mixed feelings about getting pregnant again - I’m desperate to but I know it’ll be really hard as I’ve seen how wrong it can go.

Muriel84 · 16/05/2023 09:21

@Eirlys1986 thats wonderful about your line! What day would you have expected your period? Today? Are the nhs tests about 25miu/ml? That must’ve been scary. I’m feeling ok thanks still not sleeping terribly well! X

Muriel84 · 16/05/2023 09:23

@emmatcc1 is this the darkest test you’ve had? it’s not quite positive but you could’ve peaked over night. I often wouldn’t catch a very dark one despite testing twice a day.

@JumbleJo welcome and so sorry for your loss. I had 2 early losses before my son and am now around 4 weeks. The anxiety is unbearable at times. Love and baby dust to you x

emmatcc1 · 16/05/2023 09:33

@Muriel84 Yes it’s the darkest and yesterday it was much lighter. If I did peak overnight it would show since I did it with fmu. I’ll do another one in the evening hopefully a positive.

SnookyPook · 16/05/2023 09:59

Hello All, may I join? I'm 37 and have a 2yr old little boy so trying for a little sibling for him.

Unfortunately last month I had a MMC at almost 12wks which has obviously been really shitty but I'm surprised at how quickly I feel I want to try again. Just waiting on my body ATM - no idea where I'm up to with my cycle. No period yet and I don't think any sign of ovulation either but the miscarriage is definitely all passed and had my negative pregnancy test after that so at least feel that a line can be drawn under that.

Love to you @JumbleJo and sorry for your loss. I will also find the next (being optimistic!) pregnancy pretty tough - especially as I thought I'd made it through the danger trimester this time only to find out that I hadn't at all. We will have to take it one day at a time and hope for the best 🌈🤞🏻💕

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 16/05/2023 10:10

@JumbleJo and @SnookyPook welcome. Sorry for your losses. I had a MMC before my son and found it especially hard because I felt I couldn't trust my body to even realise something was wrong with a pregnancy. Definitely took the shine off the next one and made for an anxious time (with a few private scans until I felt baby moving)

VixFromThe6ix · 16/05/2023 12:45

Ok just read through 10 pages to catch up. The weather has been so nice I've been taking my newly walking son for walks (his face thing to do lol) and so I've had less time to log in.

@Eirlys1986 and @Muriel84 huuuuge congratulations!!!! What amazing news. What are we at now... 4 bfps??!! Yay!! So so happy for you all. What a great mother's day gift 💐

Welcome to all the new members. Good luck and baby dust to you.

This is cycle 4 of trying for us. Just finishing my period... The flow was heavyyyyy this time. But I'm happy for a new cycle.

Thank you everyone ☺️ So sorry to hear about your losses, it’s just heartbreaking. Huge congratulations @Muriel84 that’s so exciting! Love and luck to everyone xx

emmatcc1 · 16/05/2023 14:11

Pretty sure I just got a positive ovulation test. Checked my cervix earlier and thought I missed ovulation as it was a bit less open than yesterday turns out i didn’t.

VixFromThe6ix · 16/05/2023 14:25

That's good @emmatcc1 !! Now DTD lots and good luck!!

OP posts:
Elen123 · 16/05/2023 15:18

This is good news @emmatcc1! Sending lots of positive vibes and wishes your way!

Thanks to those of you who advised on the early test best timings and methods! Sadly very clear BPN. Work was also hard yesterday planning my colleagues mat leave so could have done with a boost. My AF is due on Thursday so still a slight chance but not feeling positive. Always find my emotions are a bit up and down before AF but I'm just teary today this time round.

Any tips on getting through this better gladly recieved! Have been trying to do yoga, dog walks and headspace stuff but today is hard.

TheFanciestPants · 16/05/2023 15:32

@Elen123 I am so sorry, it's 100% rubbish (although you are still in with a chance!). I read online it takes on average 10 months to conceive at 35, so I am taking solace from that if it helps?
Welcome to @JumbleJo and @SnookyPook and sorry for your losses. It's not a club any of us wanted to join but at least we aren't alone x

VixFromThe6ix · 16/05/2023 17:45

@Elen123 it's tough to stay positive some days. I think yoga is great. For me, I get into a sitcom I binge or retail therapy sometimes help. Truthfully, last time I tried to conceive it was a similar group to this one that really had been super supportive on my bday days. I typed half my messages with tears in my eyes back then and the story was invaluable.

@Elen123 oof I’m so sorry about work and how you are feeling. Having to plan someone else’s maternity leave is a killer so be forgiving with yourself for anything you have been feeling around that. You are still in with a chance whilst AF is not yet here but I understand wanting to protect yourself by not getting hopes up too much.
Good luck @emmatcc1 , it’s go time! 😊
thanks for your well wishes @VixFromThe6ix I feel so incredibly lucky to have got a positive test this early in trying at age 37. Still feel very insecure about it though but these first few weeks are just bound to feel that way until 12 weeks scan passes I think. My brain cannot quite believe it and I think partner is feeling the same.
@SnookyPook so sorry to hear about your loss, I am really glad you are feeling ready to try again and hope your body gets moving for you soon and cycles settle back quickly for you x
@JumbleJo hello 👋 and so sorry for your loss. You are correct that one bonk is all it takes so fingers crossed for you! X
@Muriel84 im now around 2 days post expected period so it continues to freak me out that the standard nhs test was negative but the early tests continue to look good and I got the faintest line ever on the nhs test today so fingers crossed. I just hope within a week or so I’ll be feeling more secure if tests continue to strengthen including the “standard” tests. I know that really that doesn’t mean something can’t go wrong down the line but it will make me feel better. I hope that some part of you is able to enjoy your positive result at present despite past experiences xxx

Muriel84 · 16/05/2023 20:27

@VixFromThe6ix thank you ❤️

@Eirlys1986 glad to hear your test lines are progressing, that’s great news. I think my period was due either tomorrow or Thursday given I ovulated early. Makes it quite hard to work out how far along I am.

I had a scan and bloods today which surprised me cos I’m not even 4 weeks. Couldn’t see much on the scan hence the bloods. Felt bad like I was wasting their time, I’d only phoned up hoping they’d book me for a reassurance scan in a couple of weeks. I have all my gynae care there. I just mentioned some cramping and that I was getting some twinges on the left side so they asked me in. They were very lovely. Get my bloods back tomorrow apparently. Im a bit worried but mainly I’m absolutely pooped. X

Pineappleapple · 16/05/2023 20:53

Thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 . I went for bloods about 7 days after ovulation last time so guess that probably was the right time though period was later then expected. Will book in this time once I know ovulation has happened though bet they tell me no appointments!!

@Eirlys1986
7 days before your most frequently occurring cycle length end - do you mean write down all the period lengths and if it's 30 days most often for example go with that?

Thanks so much for the help. OH has sperm test soon, at least you don't have all the guess work with dates, just here's the sample! Bit more awkward than blood samples though!

Pineappleapple · 16/05/2023 20:56

@JumbleJo 'only one bonk to make a baby' made me laugh!
Though feel it is definitely portrayed as much easier to make a baby in school than it really is!

@Eirlys1986 Glad you lines are getting stronger

TheFanciestPants · 16/05/2023 21:16

@Eirlys1986 that's great news on the hcg progression. Sending you happy unicorn tears 😍
@Muriel84 fingers crossed for your test results, sounds very positive (in all senses!) x

Eirlys1986 · 16/05/2023 21:29

@Un7breakable thanks 😊 hopefully everything continues in a positive direction
@TheFanciestPants 😂 🦄 💧
@Pineappleapple absolutely! One size doesn’t fit all with cycle length so I would pick most frequent cycle length occurring and time 7 days back from end of that or if you feel pretty confident of the OPK and when you ovulate after that then count 7 days post that (but if you tried that last time and got a “negative” progesterone perhaps best to try the first mentioned method to see if you get a higher result this time)
@Muriel84 wow that’s stellar service from your hospital. Tbh our local Epau are wonderful too so I wouldn’t be suprised if they would do similar. Definitely too early for them to see anything on a scan for you so no suprises there I guess, good luck for your results tomorrow and hope you get some rest tonight xx

Angelsrose · 16/05/2023 22:57

Welcome @JumbleJo I am TTC #1 , aged 37, nearly 38! Wishing you lots of baby dust and luck. I am on Cycle 5 after an abrupt end to cycle 4 which ended with a super short 17 day cycle. I have spoken to my GP who was extremely helpful and not worried considering my cycles are normally 26 days. Getting some bloods done soon and ditching the ovulation tests for a while as they're stressing me out too much. I will stick to DTD at least every other day and hope for the best for the time being.

JumbleJo · 17/05/2023 06:38

@Pineappleapple Ha, it absolutely is! No mention of opks and checking mucus back then was there?!

JumbleJo · 17/05/2023 06:44

@Angelsrose I can understand ditching the sticks, it can all just get too much sometimes. And periods can just be so weird! Mine are usually around 26 but can go up to 29 when they feel like it. Baby dust to you xx
