@Muriel84 Had more spotting and some cramps this morning so got a bit disappointed; I think it's just going to be an early AF. I've not tested as if it's AF I'll know for sure very soon. Was quite sad about it earlier but now more "oh well, maybe next time" now.

Mirla · 14/05/2023 13:50

@Muriel84 Glad to hear about the darker lines. Insomnia's not ideal! But then again, if these symptoms are familiar then that sounds quite reassuring :)

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 14:14

@Muriel84 all sounding positive on the symptoms being present (although not enjoyable symptoms by the sounds of things!) definitely worth giving Epau a ring, the worst they can say is no !

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 14:17

@emmatcc1 significant symptoms then ! Sounds definitely a good idea to test again tonight. Good luck x
@Mirla sorry about the potential arrival of AF, you never know until it actually arrives but sorry it has made you feel understandably disappointed
@Mummyme87 thanks, continuing to hold off testing now till Tuesday if possible. Just attempting to enjoy things without getting carried away. What day this week is your scan? Are you excited or scared? Or both!!?

Mummyme87 · 14/05/2023 14:40

@Eirlys1986 I’m down to alternate day testing 😬 tested today and got a dye stealer, will probs test again Tuesday, do HCG and go for scan on Wednesday… I’m excited but equally terrified it won’t stay stuck or is in my tube. Trying to be positive, albeit it’s hard!

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 14:49

I don’t blame you for the alternate day tests (I mean look who you’re talking to right?! 😂). Boots must be making a killing off us. Hopefully when everything goes well on Wednesday you will feel more secure in everything. Who have you shared your news with so far? At present it is just me and partner, we will likely go for a private 8 week scan as we did first pregnancy and once heart beat confirmed then maybe tell my in laws. We told both sets of grandparents at 8 weeks last time prior to harmony testing at 10 weeks. I may hold off telling my mum till after the harmony is done this time, my dad sadly passed away in may 2022 and I feel she has been through so much since then so I would hate to tell her then have something come up on genetic testing which meant we couldn’t proceed with a pregnancy so feel it would be best for her just to not know. In laws are a bit more robust so I think I’d share with them before if partner wants to then they will happily just pretend to my mum they all found out at same time, or we could just leave all the grandparents till post harmony at 10 weeks if we get that far

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 14:49

⬆️ @Mummyme87

Mummyme87 · 14/05/2023 15:12

@Eirlys1986 obvs husband knows, then one of my best friends, a group of friends who I met on MN when ttc my second as they knew I was ttc, also two work friends, both knew I was ttc and one of which is in the process of starting reciprocal ivf with her partner (she knew when I was ovulating 😂). It will come out the woodwork at work soon enough as my name appears in the system.
I would tell parents after seeing HB on scan at about 7/8weeks but I’m at a family wedding at the end of the month so I do wonder how easy it will be to keep a secret! And my mam is coming to stay with us for a few days 31st May so will probably tell her then as won’t see her again until august. DH can tell his parents when he wants, I’m not too bothered.

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 15:31

Oh gosh yeh I never thought about how difficult it would be for a midwife to keep a pregnancy a secret at work! 😂

Muriel84 · 14/05/2023 17:13

@Eirlys1986 I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. I completely understand about not wanting to worry your mum. My mum was round when I took the test so I came straight out the bathroom and told her and DP. Hope he didn’t mind… find it hard to keep anything from her. I haven’t been able to tell my best friends yet. I don’t know why, we’re very close. Maybe one I pass the day my period is due. We won’t tell in laws until 12 week scan.

Maybe I should try to hold out for a private scan around 7/8 weeks if things continue to progress. What to say to epau is what I go over and over at 3am 🙈I am considering harmony testing tho given my age this time but we won’t find the sex. How did you go about it @Eirlys1986? do you recommend who you used?

@Mummyme87 did you give birth where you worked last time? I chose a hospital I hadn’t worked in as much, though mainly because they have a preterm birth clinic for women with uterus abnormalities. That’s great you had a dye stealer. What’s your EDD? Good luck for your scan ❤️

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 17:37

@Muriel84 I bet you couldn’t contain the news on coming out of the bathroom to your partner and mum! I used a clinic called mums but it’s local to us in Solihull so probably not right for you! They did me scams at 8,10 and 17 weeks and the hat money at 10 weeks. It cost around £500 so was steep but I opted out of nhs triple screening at my age (35 at the time) as I knew that alone was going to make the chance of me getting a “high risk” result back then having to have the anxiety of an amniocentesis! We did find out sex and will do this time-knowing at 10 weeks is bananas!

Mummyme87 · 14/05/2023 17:48

@Muriel84 I gave birth at my hospital both times, and will do again. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I totally get the telling your mum if she was there, especially if you’re close to her.
I don’t mind people knowing early, I know if it doesn’t go well I would want the support from friends and family, but everyone is different.

I’m not planning to do any private testing, will see what comes out of my nuchal scan and combined bloods and discuss with one of the consultants as to what I should do. My trust does the SAFE test, so can get that done easily if necessary .

I’m over on the January due date thread whenever you ladies feel confident enough to join ☺️

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 18:17

@Mummyme87 I didn’t know a January due date thread existed! I won’t be feeling confident enough for that just yet. Maybe in a few weeks though! 👍🏻 xxxx

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 19:43

Thanks @Mummyme87 I shall join in a few weeks all being well 👍🏻

Muriel84 · 14/05/2023 20:27

@Mummyme87 thank you I’ve had a little lurk 👀 but similarly will wait a bit before I join x

TrudyProud · 14/05/2023 20:27

We look forward to having you @Eirlys1986

Pineappleapple · 14/05/2023 20:33

Hope you don't mind me joining. Definitely over 35 unfortunately, have DD which took some time, trying for number 2. It is hard. Being referred for fertility tests, would be glad to know if there's just no chance but we will see. Wonder what ovulation tests you recommend? I have been using clear blue as they seem simple, but not sure how good they are? And any good apps?
Last month I went for a blood test 21 sats before period, which stated no ovulation. Clear blue bad said peak fertility. But then period was late by about 6 days.
Using fertility friend at the moment but the free version of the app.
Would be grateful for recommendations!

Mummyme87 · 14/05/2023 20:52

@Pineappleapple I preferred the easy @ home cheapy OPKs. Found them easy to use, every day at about 10am from around CD8 and when tests Darken start more frequent like 10, 2 and 6 to catch the positive. I tried CB digital but find they can give false positives when the test strip gets flooded. I was ttc 19months for this pregnancy, had multiple 7dpo bloods which had low progesterone last year even with positive OPKs.

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 21:08

@Pineappleapple I have traditionally used the clear blue digital OPK but then I got fed up of paying loads for them. Like @Mummyme87 I used cheapie OPK for current pregnancy and it felt relatively easy to judge when things seemed to have reached a dark enough peak to make my own decision as to when ovulation seemed likely

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 21:10

Thanks @TrudyProud , hopefully myself and @Muriel84 will feel confident and settled enough to join soon. It will be lovely to have ongoing contact and support with everyone and maybe even hopefully find some people local to me all being well when due date approaches!

Mrsspoon3 · 14/05/2023 21:26

It was a brilliant night thanks @Muriel84 and @Eirlys1986! 😊 Had such an amazing time! I’ve always wanted to go and it was just such a great atmosphere there! Glad to hear your tests are progressing well, and also yours @Mummyme87! 😊 So sorry to hear about your dad @Eirlys1986. Hopefully it will be good for you all to have some lovely news you can share soon after such a sad time.

Sorry to hear your last test was negative @Mirla. Hope you’re feeling ok!

We’ve had a terrible day with our toddler today with non stop tantrums and soooo much screaming. Think my husband is even more convinced he doesn’t really want another one after today 😩

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 21:51

@Mrsspoon3 oh no! It’s horrid when you have a tantrum day. Being constantly screamed at is so overstimulating. I just have to keep reminding myself and my partner that it’s all perfectly healthy normal brain development which sometimes makes it marginally easier. Here’s hoping your toddler has a more “angelic” day tomorrow 😇

Mrsspoon3 · 14/05/2023 22:02

@Eirlys1986 It really is isn’t it? I was trying to get him to bed from 7-9.30 and in the end my husband had to come and take over as I was at breaking point after being screamed at for 2.5 hours 😩 Thanks! 😊 My mum has him tomorrow while I work so I’m hoping he won’t scream at her all day too! 🙈

Eirlys1986 · 14/05/2023 22:06

Urgh that sounds complete crapola @Mrsspoon3 , hopefully he leaves you alone overnight(mine literally never does).
I have had so many points where I have literally ended up in tears, silent screaming (once out loud 😂) and generally so petulant myself as a result of his tantrums. Overstimulation is an absolutely horrible thing that I feel nobody ever acknowledged to me! 😂
