Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

Morning all. Currently CD6 . AF finished early , lasting only 3 days . Apparently we have to refrain from doing the business until I get the tracking scan at the end of the week and receive the go ahead

ttcat37 · 17/04/2023 15:56

Hi all! Sorry been absent a few days!

Interesting reading about everyone’s diet/ exercise/ lifestyle efforts. I’d love to lose a stone, or 2. I think as you get older you stop caring so much about being a bit chubby 😂

@Stillwinston What a cruel evap that was!

I’m now booked in for my HSG a week tomorrow. I’ve managed to get a prescription for a mild sedative which has really made me feel able to go ahead with it. It’s on my day 12 which isn’t ideal as I’ve ovulated on day 12 before but can’t be helped.

how’s everyone getting on?

@TryingToStayHopeful
Here's an article for you https://www.aquacure.co.uk/knowledge-base/truth-about-uks-water-supply#:~:text=Microplastics,paint%20and%20microbeads%20from%20cosmetics.
Tap water is equally as concerning as bottled water .
I wouldn't be so concerned about microplastics in bottled water. They are everywhere, it's unavoidable at this stage. They are even in the soil your foods grown in , they are in your beauty products, probably your tooth paste. Numerous studies have found them in everything. You can't escape it. I don't want to alarm you with that but the reality is tap water or bottled water isn't going to make a difference. You'll likely be exposed to one toxin either way.
Have you thought about purchasing a filter jug ? They have an activated filter pad that you could filter your bottled water through ?
Regarding the tap / bottle question.
I only ever drank tap water throughout my 20s and could never get pregnant.
Nowadays I only consume bottled water. I've never managed to have a full term pregnancy but I did conceive in December. My periods are alot more regular/ovulating nowadays so clearly bottled hasn't harmed me. I think it really makes no difference weather you have to switch to bottled water . I dont think its going to have a negative impact on your fertility compared to tap. Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Hi all, just wondering if any of you have any experience with this. I had prolonged bleeding after my miscarriage late last year, the longest stint being three weeks of heavy bleeding in late Feb/ early March. The GP took blood tests, checked cervix, felt tummy and all was fine. And towards the end of the bleeding I passed some really large clots. The GP (and I) suspected it was retained product

Since then I’ve had one really (really) heavy period but the last cycle has felt closest to a normal cycle in ages. I had signs of ovulation and there’s been a three week period of no bleeding now.

I pushed for a scan in March though, as something didn’t feel right, and I just got the results back today. There is a 1cm fibroid (which the GP) is unconcerned about, and a tiny cyst on my left ovary. She doesn’t seem concerned about either, but has requested I do a tumour marker blood test to double check that the cyst is not malignant. This is a precaution but naturally has me concerned.

I’m now about 8-12DPO and pregnancy tests are all negative so far. I am cramping a lot now, mostly on my right side but it feels like the precursor to the AF.

Anyway, I’m curious if any of you have experienced fibroids and if it impacts conception? Wondering if the presence of these and/ or a cyst might have caused me to MC last year, especially after I saw an embryo at 6 weeks.

Sorry, an essay!

cornflakes86 · 17/04/2023 18:49

@Maizie83 no experience of fibroids but when I had my hcg they spotted an ovarian cyst they said it was a dermoid cyst and I had to get tumour markers too which came back normal. They said the cyst shouldn’t affect getting pregnant. I know the reason I miscarried and it wasn’t due to the cyst in my case.

Maizie83 · 17/04/2023 18:50

@cornflakes86 Thank you for sharing your experience! I really appreciate it.

Stillwinston · 17/04/2023 19:38

@ttcat37 really pleased you've managed to get the sedative sorted, will you get the results on the day or will you have to wait?

Stillwinston · 17/04/2023 19:40

@Maizie83 no experience but just wanted to say I'm keeping my fingers crossed - you're not out yet! I didn't get my positive for my son until I was 15dpo so there's still a couple of days 🤞

OP posts:
Stillwinston · 17/04/2023 19:42

@MK85 good news you've got your tracking scan and should hopefully be timed perfectly with your fertile window 🤞

ttcat37 · 17/04/2023 19:53

@Stillwinston I'm not sure. Tbh I’ll just be glad to be able to get through it! I imagine if I’m dozy from the diazepam they might not tell me. DH will be with me so might ask them to pass anything on to him as I won’t remember (hopefully!)

Maizie83 · 17/04/2023 20:05

@Stillwinston thank you so much! ❤️

@MK85 I hear you on the old test/ indent lines. The amount I dug out of a bin to check hours later, and drove myself mad. I have photos of them all in an album (which I named “Crazy Lady”! 😄) on my phone.

A note on tests - I have bulk bought the Sainsburys Health Matters tests, 2 for £3.50, and they’ve been clearly negative so far. There’s been zero indent or evap lines, even ages afterwards, and they’re pink dye.

I don’t know how sensitive they are. It says 5 days before your period, so I should be testing positive now if I’m pregnant. It may not be the news I want but in any case they’re an affordable, sturdy option. Had so many evap lines on Clearblue!

MK85 · 18/04/2023 16:50

@Stillwinston thats quite a convincing evap! I would be raging. I now take a few tests of different brands , just for my own peace of mind. Have started ordering from online as pharmacy probably thinks I'm mental buying so many pregnancy tests every month

MK85 · 18/04/2023 19:04

@cornflakes86 I'm in county tyrone 👋
I'm going to take a look for those patches. I tend to wake up around 5am needing the bathroom then go back to sleep and take my temp around 7.30am but they say you need 3 hours sleep minimum before taking it so I'm not entirely sure how accurate my results are given I'm not getting that

MK85 · 18/04/2023 19:09

@Maizie83 after my loss I bled for over two weeks .
I don't have any personal experience with fibroids but I do have a friend who has and she didn't have any difficulty conceiving. I think it depends on the size and the location

Stillwinston · 18/04/2023 20:08

@MK85 I know right?! I genuinely let myself believe it might be positive and was so sad when AF arrived. I definitely won't use clearblue anymore 😭

OP posts:
cornflakes86 · 19/04/2023 07:35

@MK85 let me know how you get on with the patches if you can find them. I’m assuming they are a relatively new product as there is very little information about them online. I found it useful as I don’t think I’d have the patience to use a thermometer and I am also up during the night often

Irishgirl2015 · 19/04/2023 18:13

Hi all - so looks like another cycle out for us 😥. CD27 and been cramping on and off the last day or so. Did a test this evening to put myself out of my misery and lo and behold BFN. No period yet but it is only a day or two away. So upset - really thought this could be the month. This is all just so f’ing hard.

Maizie83 · 19/04/2023 18:24

@Irishgirl2015 It’s so hard, and I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. But just maybe… if your period isn’t due for another few days you might not be out just yet unless you’re having what is unmistakably period cramps? The wait, and the unknowing, is excruciating, and I think it gets to a point where we just want to bloody well know either way.

I’m in the same boat as you, period due tomorrow and have cramps. All BFNs so far, but I had line eyes today. Absolutely convinced I saw a faint line, but really there isn’t one. At all! The hardest bloody thing. If not this month, it could be next month. Hang in there!

cornflakes86 · 19/04/2023 19:00

@Irishgirl2015 it’s crap isn’t it ? I find the time in the days around when af is due the hardest . All the analysing and symptom spotting.. at least men don’t have to deal with that aspect of things.

MK85 · 19/04/2023 19:05

@Irishgirl2015 trying to get pregnant truly is an emotionally draining journey isn't it. It really tests your strength. Hang in there

MK85 · 19/04/2023 19:11

Have my monitoring scan in the morning to see if I've any follicles growing but I'm not feeling very hopeful 😕 I was in a clomid group prior to starting treatment and lots of those ladies mentioned different symptoms. I was kinda dreading taking it to be honest given all id heard but I've felt absolutely nothing which makes me question if it's working or not at the current dosage

cornflakes86 · 19/04/2023 19:25

@MK85 that’s good that you are having a scan. I really hope you see some results. Let us know how it goes.

Infinitebows · 19/04/2023 22:30

@Maizie83 @Irishgirl2015 really hope AF doesn't come for you both. Not wanting to give false hope at all but I had period type cramps on my last two pregnancies up until around 6 weeks. I get you, it's so freaking hard. All the waiting, anticipation and hope on top of the yearning and desperation, mixed in with the dread and fear and then the disappointment. It's utterly shit! So so disheartening. Hope you're both okay. ❤️ @MK85 good luck with the scan tomorrow @cornflakes86 regards your comment on men, the population would be halved I'm sure if men had to deal with all that we do, they don't realise the half of it (well mine definitely doesn't!) 🫢 xx
