@shaker21

Took @annapolis35 suggestion for a name - will link this back in the old one.

@Annapolis35 that's really bad about the SA and being referred so far away.
I would definitely say the progesterone test is really good. Mine was low 20s.
Sorry to hear about AF arriving, but I'm glad you're in a good place about it. It does just become the expectation after trying for so long.

@Shaker21 sorry to hear that things have been difficult for you. Pregnancy announcements are so hard when you desperately willing to get the BFP yourself. Hope the letrozole is helping with your progesterone levels this month.

I'm still going okay, had a bit of a crazy week. Ridiculously, after waiting 12 months for my fertility referral they called up Tuesday and asked me to go back in as I had "slipped through the cracks". They wanted to see me anyway on Wednesday, even though I'm pregnant now. So he has advised me to take progesterone suppositories. I've been waiting for the prescription from the doctor and turns out they had lost the request. But will finally have them today, 5 days late, after chasing them up over the weekend.
Annoyingly I somehow caught COVID again despite being ridiculously antisocial, so that's an added stressor to everything as I'm worrying about impact on fetus. I'm now c.7 weeks and really hoping the baby is still growing but want to wait a few more weeks to get another scan.
We have told close family now, everyone was completely blindsided and shocked as they never thought we would have children. But all very happy for us.

I swear time moves so much more slowly now than it did when TTC. The months seemed to roll around so quickly, now time moves at snail's pace.

Hello everyone!!

well I completely missed the new thread!! Even though I’d been tagged I must’ve missed the emails! So I went to the old one to catch up and found my way!!!

how is everyone? I can’t believe it’s been a year! Well I definitely thought I’d be pregnant or have a little one now but how naive I was haha! All my friends who were trying last year with me have now all had their babies so it’ll be our turn soon!

im feeling positive about this cycle! About to enter fertile window tomorrow! Although I feel it’s dangerous to feel positive haha! But I’ve been doing my keto diet for some time checked my fasting blood sugars this am and they’ve finally dropped to a healthy range! I’m about 2 stone down from original weight now (had to re loose everything that went back on when my Nan died) and I feel healthy! Although I’m rattling with vitamins 🤣🤣

had my day three tests repeated again this cycle and FSH, LH and oestrdiol all within range!!! So 🤞🤞🤞 i just actually have to muster up the energy to start trying 🤣 we didn’t bother last month and had a month out.

I’ve got an appointment to discuss a formal pcos diagnosis early March so we’ll see!

@Annapolis35 im
delighted the house sale has gone through what a huge relief!! I’m so so pleased! that progesterone is good! Anything over 30 confirms ovulation!

@Shaker21 im sorry that all sounds rough! I wonder why the progesterone ended up lower than the non medicated one! Maybe just your body getting used to it! Hopefully the increase will help! I’ve got everything crossed for u!
sorry about the announcement, it’s so hard to hear when you’ve been struggling to get pregnant! I’m always happy for people but it’s also feels like another knock! The thing that usually helps is not knowing their history - ie could’ve been trying for ages! But knowing what you know makes it a little bit harder! But yours will be so close I’m sure! It’s going to be a good year!

@pinkpirlie i bet it was such a relief seeing that little heartbeat ❤️ I’m so happy for you!

welcome @kalixxx how u getting on! And congratulations @saltandvinegar1 x

Jen05p · 11/02/2023 13:24

Hi all, hope it's okay if I join. I'm ttc2. Baby No1 is 2.5yrs old and was conceived naturally approximately after 15-16 cycles. It's taking "long" again and I think we are at about 17 cycles. I went private and have finished first round of letrozole 5mg and ovitrelle trigger. Currently 10dpo from approx the trigger last Monday (maybe peak last Wednesday). I got really bad cramps last night about 4am which woke me up. Feel on and off today so really just think it's AF coming in few days as it's happened so many times before.

I've had all the fertility tests and all came back fine. My partner recently had SA so although we have the results waiting for my fertility DR to review as we are unsure what it really means. His GP said they look fine but he's not an expert ?! Let's see.

Annapolis35 · 11/02/2023 18:34

Hi everyone sorry I must have missed the alerts too. @pinkpirlie its such an anxious time and I really hope everything goes ok for you. Maybe get a scan at 9/10 weeks? I hope you’re recovered from Covid now?

@ANP2020 welcome back and that’s amazing on the weight loss! Well done. I’m glad you’re feeling positive about everything!

well my AF did arrive bang on time but unfortunately I have been called back in to have more treatment on my cervix. I don’t know what it means for fertility or on a future pregnancy but will have a month out minimum. So everything is quite uncertain again and I’ve been feeling a bit down about it as I was so looking forward to things looking up for us. I have a lot of questions for the doctor and need to make sure this doesn’t affect fertility, and from what I’ve read, I would probably need to have a stitch put into my cervix and be monitored more closely if I ever got pregnant again. But this is the priority as the abnormal cells are quite serious. So just trying to be positive about things and not get too down. I am worried as I am 35 and things just seem to be against us in ever having a child.

@Jen05p welcome to the long ttc club! @Shaker21 is also on letrozole so may be able to offer some advice. I am hoping this does it for you. It’s all so stressful

Annapolis35 · 11/02/2023 18:37

@Shaker21 really sorry about the pregnancy announcement. I hate those people who have sex once in the month - fuckers haha. I hope you’re ok and must be nearing end of 2ww wait now? Let us know how you get on.

Shaker21 · 12/02/2023 10:02

Hey girls. I am feeling a lot better than I was thanks. I am 9DPO today and can tell that progesterone has been ramped up this cycle. I have had way more stuff happening like nausea, heartburn, vivid dreams about positive pregnancy tests...my BBT seems to be going well so far so just waiting and seeing what's happening. I should get my day 21 progesterone blood test results tomorrow or Tuesday so looking forward to seeing what they say.

Sorry to hear that you've got to take maybe another month off ttc @Annapolis35 but definitely need to make sure your health is first especially with abnormal cells like that.

Glad you managed to find the new thread @ANP2020 haha! You sound like you're alot more upbeat and positive than before which is really nice!

Yes any questions you have @Jen05p I may be able to help with let me know xx

Jen05p · 12/02/2023 10:15

Hi @Annapolis35 thanks for the welcome and letting me know about @Shaker21. Apologies I wasn't on the old thread. What's the reason for the cervix stitch?

@Shaker21 hii thanks! I'm also on cylogest since 2 days after the trigger. I partly think my af is coming soon but this progesterone is delaying it. I am going to test tomorrow which would be 14 days since the trigger and I guess take it from there. How many cycles of letrozole have you had/with or without trigger? I think my case is more unexplained at the moment but they haven't concluded that as of yet as I'm about 1 and half years trying for second.

Shaker21 · 12/02/2023 10:19

Hi @Jen05p I had my 1st round last month of 2.5mg and currently 9DPO on 2nd round of 5mg. I do them unmonitored without trigger. I ovulate on my own naturally and have regular cycles but my progesterone isn't high enough in luteal phase so been put on Letrozole to have a stronger ovulation/egg to increase progesterone. 2.5mg didn't do it enough so been on 5mg and waiting for blood results to see if that has done the trick. What are you on Letrozole for?

Jen05p · 12/02/2023 10:26

@Shaker21 sorry just went back to the first page and saw this is your second cycle with an increased dose.

Jen05p · 12/02/2023 12:46

@Shaker21 ahh fingers crossed!! Hope the increased dose helps.

Mine is not for a "reason" as such, I think they just want to explore some options to help with the conceiving. As my blood tests and tubes check all went well. I think it's almost like an extra boost to ensure I ovulate (which I do every month so it's very frustrating). Hope it does work but it was our first cycle so maybe the next time.

Annapolis35 · 12/02/2023 14:14

That’s fantastic @Shaker21 the bbt looks really good! Sounds like your progesterone is rising really nicely so let us know how the blood test goes. Fingers crossed for you.

@Jen05p I had abnormal cells and high risk HPV following a smear test so had to have a LLETZ before Christmas and now need another one as the first procedure didn’t remove all the bad cells. I’m just focusing now on getting this out of the way and recovering from it, then in March be back on ttc once all has healed. It’s been a bit of an ordeal but will just take one thing at a time.

ANP2020 · 16/02/2023 08:50

Hey guys

how are we all? So I’m cycle day 14 today, we’ve dtd three times so far during this fertile window! It’s so tough to dtd on demand! Such an effort haha! I’m going to try and see if we can manage again tonight. Hard to stay motivated when it’s the 100th month trying haha!!

still feeling hopeful but as I’m monitoring my weight closely I’ve noticed I’ve been holding weight or gaining over the past two days and I’ve googled it (of course) and weight gain due to water retention is a thing!! Who knew!! Life is unfair isn’t it when your dieting weight gain and ovulation, weight gain at AF 🤣 only leaves a two week window to lose anything!!

@Annapolis35 im sorry to hear that you need another procedure it must feel as though it’s just one thing after another! But your health is the most important thing and at least you’ll have peace of mind it’s all sorted before you fall pregnant! I hope it all goes ok! I hope they can answer all your questions about how it will affect future pregnancies

@Shaker21 how you getting on? did you get your progesterone result?

@Jen05p welcome 😊

Shaker21 · 16/02/2023 09:00

Heys girls!

@ANP2020 God i know what you mean with trying to lose weight...I have exactly the same thing where I weigh heavier at AF and at ovulation so it does not help at all! Glad to hear you are in your fertile window and managing to dtd alot. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. We need a BFP soon on this group for sure!

I am currently 13DPO today and my BBT has dropped this morning so AF arriving tomorrow more than likely. I am ok about it, I already had a feeling it was on its way anyway as I got my progesterone results back and it was only 24.7 nmol/L which is only 0.6 up from last month so didn't make much difference being on the higher dose. So I have been upped to 7.5mg this month and got to go again with the day 21 progesterone blood test and see how that goes. It is really frustrating to think that the 2 months on Letrozole have felt like they was wasted as I didn't respond to the doses but I know it is all trial and error and just finding that dose that my body will respond well too. So fingers crossed the 7.5mg is the one!

Hope everyone else is doing ok?

x

pinkpirlie · 16/02/2023 12:46

@ANP2020 highly recommend the turkey baster approach if DTD gets too much. It probably wasn't that, but we did that 3 times the month we got the BFP. At least I figure the extra chances can't have been detrimental. After 2.5 years that's the only thing we did differently. 🤣

@Shaker21 hope you have more luck next month. It sounds like your consultant is trying everything to help you.

@Annapolis35 sorry to hear about abnormal cells and having to take more time off, especially when you were starting to feel more positive. Hopefully this will be the last treatment you'll need and you'll be back TTC again asap.

ANP2020 · 16/02/2023 23:30

So guys I’ve had some rubbish news tonight! I got a text from my GP at 18:30 saying the scan is had yesterday showed gallstones and that it would need to come out! So I’ve been referred to the surgeons!

I don’t get bad gallstones attacks like I’ve been reading about, but went to the GP as I’ve been getting some burning abdo pain, feels like heartburn but in my upper right abdo.

so now my minds a bit all over! Do I still ttc! I’ve no idea how long the wait for surgery is! Do I just stop ttc until I’ve seen the surgeon? I still haven’t received my fertility appt but it’s supposed to come through soon - I bet they won’t start anything until it’s out of it needs to come out!! Sorry just typed everything that’s in my head!!

@Shaker21 i hope AF doesn’t come, it’s almost a bit easier to deal with when you’ve already seen the lower progesterone result so can prepare your mind.

I know what you mean about the letrozole but it only needs to work that one time once they get the dosing right!! I’ve everything crossed!

@pinkpirlie that’s an idea!! Where on earth do you get the equipment you need from?

pinkpirlie · 17/02/2023 08:05

@ANP2020 oh my gosh, what unwelcome news. You really didn't need anything else to upset your journey. Hopefully the wait for surgery isn't too long and you can get some answers on whether to continue TTC now or if you have to wait.

Re the turkey baster approach, I have loads of sterile 1mm syringes (not needle ones) for my kazillion pets to give them medicine, so we just used these. I got them off Amazon and they come in all different sizes.

OP posts:
ANP2020 · 17/02/2023 16:04

@pinkpirlie it really has! I’ve moved around a bit today! It’s just the thought if it’s a 9 month surgical wait I can’t put off ttc for 9months!! I’ll be 9 months older! It’s cycle day 15 today we’ve managed 3 times in this fertile week so we’re just going to try again for good measure today despite the news as it may already have happened no point giving up halfway!

ahhh that’s interesting I’ll have a look on amazon! So he just goes and does his thing u syringe it up and pop in in straight away? Sorry to be graphic! I’m not sure I could get Oh to do it - although I’d be very thankful of it 🤣

Jen05p · 18/02/2023 09:43

@ANP2020 sorry to hear of the news! Hopefully it can all be resolved as quickly as possible and you can get back on ttc ! Hope all goes well keep us updated when you hear of your surgery date. Good to hear you managed to dtd a few times!

@Shaker21 sorry about the increased dosage not doing a lot for you. Praying 7.5 helps! Not sure if this helps but could you ask them about having cyclogest? I was put on this from 2 days after the trigger. Or potentially asking if the trigger would help in any way. I guess just trying and tweaking all these things could make a difference. I know you mentioned it is unmonitored...so with the trigger there would be a scan required to check follicle size.

@Annapolis35 hope this will be the last treatment before you can carry on with ttc, I can only imagine these curve balls really throw things out of control and then you just end up feeling like it's one thing after the other.

I'm on day 29 of my cycle today and not on my period ..yet! I have been feeling af symptoms on and off for a week but as I'm on cyclogest..this could delay period/stop period until I stop taking it. I tested last Monday as it was 14 days after the trigger and was BFN. So I waited until this morning and it was still BFN. I am using the advanced digital CB test. I spoke to my private fertility consultant and they said it's really up to me and how optimistic I am but they can do a blood test on Monday to check hcg levels. I don't know what to do really ..as in one sense I feel like AF is coming. Don't feel very hopeful as had 2 BFNs so really is there any chance?! I guess if AF doesn't come by Monday then I can just go to check. So that's where I am. If not, then I will move onto cycle 2 with letrozole and possibly discuss increasing dose from 5mg to 7.5mg.

Annapolis35 · 19/02/2023 10:31

Hi everyone

@Shaker21 sorry that AF has arrived and you need to go on the higher dose. I’m hopeful that this is the one for you.

@ANP2020 sorry about this news, it’s so disappointing and horrid not knowing when surgery might be. Your health is most important though.

@Jen05p i hope your period hasn’t shown up? I hate the waiting and the will it won’t it turn up and am always a bit relieved when it finally does as the waiting is over!

I have my procedure on Wednesday, we have been dtd quite regularly so far (just for fun) as the procedure falls right in fertile period so have counted this cycle out. I’m just of the mindset to deal with one thing at a time otherwise I get overwhelmed and feel a sense of rising panic if I think too far ahead. So hopefully procedure goes ok and the bleeding doesn’t last too long!

Jen05p · 21/02/2023 08:31

@Annapolis35 hope everything goes well for today!

Sadly no positive news from me. I had the blood test yesterday and it came back negative so I have been advised to stop taking cyclogest and let my period come. I am so upset but did expect it after 2 negative tests earlier in the week. I read so much about letrozole working the first time that I really hoped it would work. Just waiting for period hopefully next few days and then start again :(. I feel drained and so frustrated at the process of going month to month with all those high hopes.

Shaker21 · 21/02/2023 12:39

Morning all,

Sorry to hear that @Jen05p. I know the feeling with now going on to my 3rd round of Letrozole. It doesn't get any easier with getting your hopes up that it'll work. Have you had blood work done to show that the dose you are on is correct level for you? Have they said if or when they would up the dose for you or not?

@ANP2020 I really hope you aren't waiting too long for your surgery date! That must be so frustrating for you.

Good luck for your procedure tomorrow @Annapolis35 I hope it goes ok.

I tried the turkey baster method this cycle just gone @pinkpirlie but obviously can't say whether it worked or helped because my letrozole level wasn't high enough so I will be doing it again this month in the hope that my letrozole level is correct and that it helps. I have heard good things about it from others also!

Jen05p · 21/02/2023 14:20

@Shaker21 thanks for responding and sorry to hear that you are on third round...but I really hope it goes well for you this month. My progesterone has always been fine since I've had the tests as I do ovulate every month so they started me on 5mg but my doc said the dose was good so they will keep me on that for the next second cycle. As mine is more unexplained at the moment , they are just trying something to make the ovulation to conception work!! So it will be the same dose, trigger and cyclogest.

I feel uneasy sometimes when nothing changes because it feels like well why would it work this time but that exactly is it right...it might work! Will keep you updated. X

Shaker21 · 21/02/2023 14:22

@Jen05p Definitely don't lose hope! I have seen plenty of people being on the same dose a few months in a row and it working on the 2nd or 3rd round. Definitely doesn't mean it wont happen! Fingers crossed for this cycle. x

ANP2020 · 21/02/2023 21:58

Hey guys!

gosh I’ve had a nightmare day! Had 24 hours of pain so went to the GP to get some prescribed painkillers! She did them sent them electronically to my pharmacy! Their system then crashed and they couldn’t retrieve the prescription or send it back so another pharmacy could have it! I was passed back and forth between people all suggesting different things! Put it this way the medication was prescribed at 09:20am I finally had the medicine in my hands at 19:30!! 10 hours of back and forth!!

I’ve squeezed in my acupuncture today thankfully I’m sure for all those involved today as think it helped keep me zen!!

im about 5dpo and had some slight spotting today, but as this ttc goes on and on I’ve experienced everything before 🤣. Last time I had spotting it was the same cycle day and obvs AF followed so I’m presuming it’s just one of those things!

aww @Jen05p I’m sorry 😞 it really is such an emotional rollercoaster and sometimes so hard to pick yourself back up and carry on! I think we pin such high hopes on the medication as we’ve waited so long already it’s difficult to deal with the disappointment when it doesn’t happen! But it will happen for you!!

@Shaker21 good luck with this third round 🤞🤞

@Annapolis35 hope everything goes ok x

Also guys forgot to tell you! I had a dream and my Nan, who as you all know passed in November, was in it, she was sat on the sofa looking frail but well. She was reading a baby book and it had pictures of different animals and she kept pointing to the picture saying “it’s a boy! It’s a boy” - I wish I could remember what picture the animal was of but I can’t! But I’m really really hoping it’s a pregnancy premonition dream!! X

pinkpirlie · 22/02/2023 08:46

@Annapolis35 hope your procedure goes well today. Will be thinking of you. 💜

Sorry I've been awol, I've been feeling so poorly and only just about functioning. Waiting on a call today from the doctor to hopefully get some anti-nausea medicine.

@ANP2020 sounds like an absolute palava with the pharmacy. Glad you got there in the end.
Sorry you are having spotting. Your dream with your nan sounds wonderful, I really hope that it is a premonition of a beautiful little baby boy (or girl) in your future.

@Jen05p @Shaker21 I hope the next round of meds work for you guys.

The unexplained infertility journey is so hard and draining.

Re the needless syringe method - yes, he just did his thing in a pot and then, given it's meant to help, used a toy on me (quicker!) And then when I was close pushed the syringe in so it was almost like the real deal.
It was DP's idea weirdly. As I had been struggling so much with sex on a timetable after 2.5 years, it was really getting to me (& him but in a different way). Only took the one month. We still DTD the old fashioned way several times, but this got extra chances on the days I just couldn't get my head in it.

Have you all had full bloods done? I don't know if it made any difference as the timing was possibly too soon, but in December I pushed for full bloods (rather than the bloods they usually do for infertility which I had already had) and saw I had very low B12, which is known to cause difficulties conceiving. I started eating more foods with B12 and taking a B12 supplement straight away as I couldn't get a doctor appointment until the new year. I did eventually start intensive B12 injections after speaking to the doctor (but by then I was already pregnant). I don't know if the food and weaker supplements made any difference in the few weeks I was taking them, but it's definitely worth getting a full panel just in case.
