Anyone else on here in the same situation? Would be nice to chat to others who understand.

@Hidingawaytoday I don’t think I’m likely to be offered anything extra because we were t21 but it would be nice to know what options are open to us. We’ll book a harmony test at the hospital too when we can.

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayay I’m 40 next month and felt the same pressure to just ‘get on with it’ but I was definitely ready and it gave me something positive to focus on. I think you have to do what’s right for you - giving yourself an extra month or two to be in the right headspace isn’t long in the grand scheme of things xx

@Downtherabbithole83 we were t21 too. I had a viability scan at around 7 weeks and then the screening midwives have me booked me in for a NIPT next week when I will be just over 10weeks.

Downtherabbithole83 · 08/02/2023 22:04

@HoneyPea thanks for that - it’s reassuring to know you got those. We did get told that we would have to pay for NIPT if we wanted it before our 12 week scan - we would only be offered it if there were indicators of an issue.

I’m so incredibly happy that you ladies can be so sure to ttc again. I’m still very much on the fence so going to leave it a bit longer.

Wish you all healthy pregnancies!

HoneyPea · 09/02/2023 20:24

@Downtherabbithole83 It's crazy how different it is in different places. We were told they would happily give us a NIPT not because they think it would happen again but simply to make us feel better if we wanted one. To be honest I wasn't even asked if I wanted one they just said they were booking me in for one as soon as I got to 10wks. I do feel really nervous about having one again and the thought of being called up with the results.

Downtherabbithole83 · 09/02/2023 20:45

@HoneyPea just the word ‘results’ makes me shudder but I think we’ll go private at 10 weeks for the same reasons as you.

Sorry typing while half asleep - I mean for the same reason it was suggested to you. Just for the reassurance.

Hi everyone! I can't remember it this has already been asked but how long did it take for your periods to be regular again? I've had one period since my TFMR and my Flo app says I'm now 2 days late, which isn't much in the scheme of things but pre pregnancy I was like clockwork and I finally thought I was getting back on track 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

If you dont mind me asking, what is an NIPT? I didn't have one with my pregnancy. X

HoneyPea · 10/02/2023 08:01

@whippeywhippet NIPT stands for Non-invasive prenatal testing. It's a blood screening test. They take blood and then analyze the babies DNA in it to look for chances of chromosomal abnormalities (t21,t18 & t13). You then get either a high chance or low chance result. It's usually the first thing you have if the 12week combined screening gives a high outcome. Then if it's a high chance they would recommend CVS or Amnio to confirm. That's how it was explained to me anyway 😊

I would say mine took a couple of months to get back to normal. I was like clockwork before too. Mine was more that I had a very short light period and a very long one after and some brown spotting inbetween periods too.

@Downtherabbithole83 I know it will be good for the reassurance but so nervous about the whole thing. They always struggle to get blood from me.

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/02/2023 11:05

@HoneyPea I’m not sure I’ll even get that far with this one. Had one test left in the box so figured I’d POAS to reduce some anxiety and instead got a fainter line than I had got at the weekend… I think I may be getting period-type pains as well.

Maybe my body just wasn’t ready yet and it won’t stick… 😢

OP posts:
HoneyPea · 10/02/2023 20:35

@Downtherabbithole83 How are the pains? Did you take it at a different time of day to the one before? Fingers crossed all is ok.

Since our TFMR last Feb I had a CP in July and a MMC in October, I ended up thinking that maybe it was my body telling me it wasn't ready but who knows.

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/02/2023 20:38

@HoneyPea I did it with fmu and the pains are definitely worse this evening. I just figure something isn’t right… better to find out now than at 12 weeks.

OP posts:
HoneyPea · 10/02/2023 21:01

@Downtherabbithole83 That's how I felt to. If it was going to be over I would rather it happened quicker rather than being drawn out. How many days past your period are you now?

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/02/2023 21:04

@HoneyPea 5 days since AF was due and my lines did get nice and dark, progressing nicely at first, so the fainter line was a bit of a shock.

OP posts:
HoneyPea · 10/02/2023 21:09

@Downtherabbithole83 I'm sure it was a big shock. Do you think it might be worth getting in contact with your bereavement midwife?

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/02/2023 21:12

She hasn’t replied to my email earlier in the week asking about the procedure for pregnancy… I’ll wait and see if she replies. I guess by the beginning of next week I’ll know more anyway as if the pains are caused by losing it then I assume AF will join me this weekend.

If no AF by the end of Sunday I’ll get a different test and POAS again.

I always like to have a plan! 😂 Control helps…

HoneyPea · 10/02/2023 21:22

@Downtherabbithole83 That's awful, mine has never taken longer than 2days to reply to me. Do you have a phone number you can call?

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/02/2023 21:24

She’s been so good up to now. Not sure why she hasn’t replied this time.

No point chasing it now!

OP posts:
HoneyPea · 10/02/2023 21:26

😕

I think your plan if no AF arrives is a good one and I will have my fingers crossed for you x

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/02/2023 21:40

Thanks for all your messages @HoneyPea - it’s been a crappy day xx

OP posts:
whippeywhippet · 10/02/2023 21:53

@Downtherabbithole83 I'm so sorry to read this, although hopefully the little bean is all snug in there and the cramping etc resolves itself. I have everything crossed for you x

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/02/2023 22:00

Thanks @whippeywhippet.

I feel like the line and cramping combined doesn’t sound ideal… each symptom alone could be explained but together probably isn’t great.

Just like when waiting for my CVS results, I find it easier to expect the worst: that way it’ll either be what I expect or a pleasant surprise!

OP posts:
Hidingawaytoday · 11/02/2023 11:17

Sorry you're going through this @Downtherabbithole83 😔, hopefully it'll stay sticky, but lots of hugs to you if not. How are you this morning?

Quokka7 · 11/02/2023 12:24

Sorry I've been quiet ladies. AF started properly after about a week of spotting again so I've been feeling a bit low. I just wish my cycle was normal...I used progesterone and still had spotting from around 6dpo. Oh well, on to the next cycle. I've bought myself the clearblue advanced opks so I'm ready to go.

@Downtherabbithole83 I hope you're ok today. Big hugs. I hope the cramping has calmed down. My fingers are still crossed that everything will be ok for you xx
