Hey,

It's my second cycle if ivf, I'm on Bemfola 225 iu and it's day 4 of my cycle. Last time I was on Gonal F 150iu. Was wondering if it will produce more eggs now.

Just wanted to ask anyones dosage, the name of their ivf medication and the egg result, home many were retrieved?

@SH998 what's the appointment for? Is it to start your FET? That's good news.

So the clinic want me to have the blood test at my GP to save on the costs. I've posted an online request to a nurse at my GP so just waiting. The list of bloods weren't just to do with clotting, full on, I'm hoping my anaemia is fine now as I didn't tell the clinic that my periods had lead to that but I've been on iron pills so hoping its OK now.

I'm also waiting on my new patient co ordinator to confirm that I can be moved back to my old clinic to have the anti clotting treatment with my next FET which I want in June. I asked that on Friday. Will chase this Friday if I don't hear anything. I did ask the question if I go ahead with the anti clotting does that mean I don't need the blood test as that was the point of it to see if i need it.

I do still believe its down to the actual embryo being abnormal why I've not conceived rather than my womb, if the blasts tested normal then that's another story. Also it shouldn't be seen as my 3 embryo transfers were all perfect but failed. My first was a 3 day so not even a blast, my second that was a success but lead to etopic, only my 3rd was a blast and a fail. But of course up for trying something new.

OP posts:
SH998 · 17/05/2023 14:39

@Hyppyb its to discuss my treatment plan and collect meds, I know what the plan is as it was also mentioned in one of the emails. My period is due that day but I cant remember how many days after the period date they look to do the transfer, its in my head 20 odd days but not sure, can you remember? I cant see any reason why they wouldn't start it next month.
Let me know what they say about the blood clotting without bloods, I asked to go on this a s a precautionary and they refused point blank. I was willing to try/take anything new to make the next transfer successful.
Have they got back to you with a firm date yet or you still waiting feedback form your coordinator?

Hyppyb · 17/05/2023 15:17

@SH998 So if your clinic is the same as mine day 2 you start eostrogen, day 10 scan to check your lining if it's not 7.5mm or over then you go back day 14, then if that's OK then you start taking the progesterone to mirror the days of your embryo, so a 5 day blast you take the progesterone for 5 days, then on the 6th day you then have your transfer. So usually a 5 day blast the transfer is day 19 to day 22. It's flexible because the eostrogen suppresses your period, the main stipulation Is the number of days before the transfer has to be 5, also that your lining is optimal as in the size.

That's great though. At least you are moving forward.

No not heard anything. This is a new patient co ordinator. Will chase during the week. Not heard from GP about blood tests. Hoping June as in next cycle I can go ahead with the FET.

My period I've had many clots wondering if it's my lining being thicker because of the delay in my period.

OP posts:
SH998 · 18/05/2023 11:50

@Hyppyb I thought it was something like that, I went for 2 scans last time. Trying to work it out so I can book a week off work to make things easier but I think its best I wait until my appointment for a more firm date to be on the safe side.
When is your next period. I would advise to push and push some more, you don't want to be missing next months cycle due to the clinic taking a while to come back to you.
Hope the clotting hasn't been too bad and painful for you.

Hyppyb · 18/05/2023 19:58

@SH998 so an FET it's 3 appointments 2 if you are lucky in that your lining is thick enough, day 10, day 14 and day 19 usually. It can vary. Yeah I always want to book a holiday as work don't know, but I always end up saying I have dentists apps because my bosses boss has said we have to give a month's notice for holidays, which isnt practical because you can't control when your period is or what days your apps will be. FETs are way more straightforward at least. I think it's just the eostrogen that gives you side affects.

I emailed my patient co ordinator around 8 am. Pretty much saying I need to know what's required for me do the FET with the aid of anti clotting treatment, if I need appointments prior, im hoping its just the treatment plan to go over the new meds, if I don't hear anything by Monday then I will call. The GP say it takes 6 working days for them to respond so will see, also don't know if they will do these tests. Saying all that the clinic may say I don't need the blood tests now that I'm choosing the anti clotting treatment.

My next period is around the 11th June. This current period I'm not in pain and the clots aren't painful. When I saw the clots I thought this looks similar to my pregnancy loss then I thought wonder If it a chemical pregnancy, sometimes they don't show on the pregnanct test, but from reading I read it could be my extra thick lining from the eostrogen and the delay. Who knows.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 19/05/2023 21:48

@SH998 so I sent the blood test request to my GP on Monday, didn't hear anything, today thought let me check my junk emails, the GP had responded 2 hours after I messaged them. So annoying. They will do some tests, some tests are too specialised. I also called the clinic as my patient co ordinator hasn't realised in 7 days so I called the clinic I'm having another consultation this Sunday.

Hyppyb · 21/05/2023 10:39

@SH998 so had a consultation today, on a Sunday with the clinic. It was OKish. He said at 39 to 40 they only expect 1 out 4 embryos to lead to a live birth. That I could have the frozen embryos unfrozen, tested, refrozen but he would only really recommend that if there were at least 4 embryos. I think I might think about doing that next collection if i have to do another one. He also said my embryos are superficially OK graded.

He then said it's fine for me to do the anti clotting treatment but it sounds like it would stop if tests came back as negative to clotting issues. The anti clotting starts post transfer, progesterone injections is also possible, they will now test progesterone levels 2 days before transfer, if low then would start injections. He said there's no real evidence the anti clotting it would help but it can't hurt.

So now waiting on treatment consultation.

Hope you're OK.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 21/05/2023 14:25

@SH998 I've been mulling over everything, part of me is like should I test these current embryos, it would save me money in the long run if I do. However my issue is there are experts who recommend to their patients not to do testing as there are abnormal embryos that will self correct in the womb and imagine destroying those? So I don't know, there's no wrong or right way. Just want to bury my head sometimes.

OP posts:
SH998 · 22/05/2023 10:42

@Hyppyb your coordinator sounds fantastic! Taking so long to reply is ridiculous, they are meant to be making your life easier not stressing you out further. That's goods news about the anti clotting treatment, at least now you feel another course of action is being taken and gives you that little bit of positivity.
Have you been given a treatment date? We shouldn't be too far apart starting now should we.
It is difficult to know what to do for the best, I will 100% do the tested on my next fresh cycle as I will be paying so will have more say in what is being done. There is a possibility that they will rectify in the womb but there's no way of knowing that. Its all still the unknown with IVF and we have absolutely no control over it. Any closer to making a decision on whether to test? I know the testing isn't cheap either so that makes the decision even harder. How long do the results take to come back?
My only fear with unfreezing, testing and then refreezing is would the second unfreezing for the transfer weaken the embryo?

Hyppyb · 22/05/2023 15:04

@SH998 I've had a change in Patient Co ordinator, the last 3 months, first was great, 2nd was brief now on maternity leave, current one she just sent template and not heard from her since so i hence me phoning.

I've read pregnancy from tested vs untested the stats are only slightly better with tested, that they take cells from the placenta, it could be abnormal cells but the rest of the embryo is normal woukd go on to healthy baby, but also normal cells can be taken but rest are abnormal seen as normal goes on to not implant. There's evidence for and against. I don't know how I feel about potentially healthy embryos being discarded don't want to regret that. It takes 4 weeks after testing for them to get results. I don't think I will with these 2.

So doc sent info to patient co ordinator yesterday so should hear shortly, the costs then treatment consultation. Mid June my next cycle. So I think your transfer will be before mine for sure. Fingers crossed.

I'm having some stuff going on at work which could mean I change my role or have to leave so financially its something need to think about. But it's all happening November maybe.

SH998 · 23/05/2023 08:07

@Hyppyb after reading the above, it does make you wonder if its worth doing the testing. I would definately think twice now and will be doing more research into this if its needed, by the look of it there's more negatives that positives. I personally wouldn't be doing any testing on my existing frosties I wouldn't want to risk them at this stage.
Lets hope you hear something soon, the wait for the next stage is bad enough but when your waiting feedback from the clinic its even worse. Luckily I haven't got to chase up anything right now. Providing all is OK transfer should be third week of June, I have a week off booked first week of June but will push this out to maybe the third week. My manager is aware of the situation so very accommodating.
What a nightmare potentially having to change jobs in the middle of all this, as if this isn't stressful enough for you. Are you still going to be OK proceeding with your work issues? Financial worries can be even more stressful than IVF.

Hyppyb · 23/05/2023 08:21

@SH998 some fertility doctors recommend you don't test your embryos. The doctor on Sunday he was like it's an option and he has to give me the option but wasn't going to say he thinks I should or shouldn't. Testing does not make you have a baby more, it's not 100%, normal tested embryos sometimes fail because they're really abnormal. I think if you're lucky and the test points out the genuine embryos then it will save time and money, but that wouldnt ncrease your chance of a baby as that same embryo would still be put inside you anyway if tested or not.

OK so I have the gp blood test in an hours time. I need confirmation when the blood test results will be ready. Reason why is I can now book my treatment consultation but I want the blood results before that. The doc said they will stop the anti clotting treatment if my tests come negative. I don't want to start to stop and pay out £400 on meds it's a waste. I don't want to book the treatment consultation too late as if the test is positive for clotting issues then I don't want the meds to come too late because I had the treatment consultation too late.

So my job there's still a need for the work but they want to give the work elsewhere and for me to do other things. It's early days and the changes may happen in November so waiting to see.

How are you doing? How you feeling about your FET?

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 23/05/2023 16:51

@SH998 meant to say yeah if all goes to plan my transfer will be the beginning of the last week of June so our embryo transfers will be very close.

OP posts:
SH998 · 24/05/2023 08:25

@Hyppyb how did your bloods go? Did they advise a time scale for the results. I was initially told 3 weeks but took almost 8, apparently they are quite in depth so needs a little longer.
Would be great if we were going through it the same time and both had positive results. I'm not confident and not looking forward to it. My cycle has been strange this month which hasn't happened for a few months. I've started spotting a week before my period is due, not a lot but enough to notice, this does happen sometimes so nothing new but I'm concerned that this might be an issue, maybe hormones are not quite right but the clinic doesn't see an issue and say all looks OK. This has further made me doubt the next transfer.
I'm sure all will work out fine with your job, you have a few months to act on it and decide what's best for you.

Hyppyb · 24/05/2023 15:03

@SH998 so I was told it would take a week to get the blood test results, so Tuesday, but as some are a little different it may take longer, but the very specialised tests the GP said they can't do its not available to them so I'm hoping that means the ones I did will take a week or less.

Sometimes I wonder would the pregnancy in an unknown location if was in the right place was a healthy embryo, if it wasn't normal then the odds are back in my favour that the remaining 2 embryos at least one is healthy.

I don't think you should worry about spotting messing with your cycle, remember when you do an FET they check your lining, eggs are suppressed, that your body is where its supposed to be, if you are concerned you can do what I'm doing which is a progesterone test just before transfer and if it's too low then then can start progesterone injections. They use to be scary large needles with oil that are injected into the muscle but they're now tiny. Phew!

I realised my next predicted period date is wrong, because its looking at my last cycle which was 34 days because of the eostrogen when my cycle is usually 26 days. Treatment consultation are every Tues and Thurs so will book one if I can next Thursday, a week before my period, also hopefully after blood tests arrive.

I've been told I will still have a job but it will be different. Its my whole department affected. Getting pregnant, maternity leave I clearly want and need stability. My job is very close to where I live, also nurseries are close so it's perfect. Really hoping I stay. It's hanging over me and my colleagues. I don't want any underlying stress messing with me during trying to conceive. It doesn't help clearly.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 25/05/2023 11:10

@SH998 just sharing my treatment consultation is next Thursday, exactly a week before my period is due on the 9th June, really hoping I have the main tests back regarding clotting from GP as dont want to start and stop meds, I was happy to just take the meds regardless of what the tests say. The doc said they would ask me to stop the meds if negative. Would be such a waste of money.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 30/05/2023 13:23

@SH998 So had my blood tests results back from the GP, did take a week. 😊 Everything was fine. My haemoglobin was 116, should be 115 or more, just normal after taking iron pills. Some cells are smaller than normal but doc said the pills i take online is what they would recommend. My heavy periods is continuing to cause my haemoglobin from being higher. The clotting test he said was normal, when I looked there was one number that said 25.8 when should be 26 above but it said normal for patient.

I've emailed clinic with results. My treatment consultation is Thursday but it's just with a nurse. So will see if the email has got to the doctors by Thursday. Looking like I will proceed without clotting treatment.

So you have 2 embabies left? Is the plan to put them all in at once? When I spoke to 2 separate doctors they were pretty against me doing it but said I could. I won't only because I don't want to end up with triplets or quads. 😆 the PGT testing the last doctor didn't show any bias one side or another. However my first ivf cycle I mentioned it to another doc she said it will narrow down your embryos, now I would say but that shouldn't matter if the tests are accurate, you know exactly what embryo is normal. They only take cells from the placenta not the fetus. I've read about women with 5AA embabies that tested as abnormal but 4CB be tested as normal.

Hope you are looking more forward to it all. I worked out if my next one is successful it's due mid March.

@Hyppyb sorry for the time it’s taken me to reply, it’s been a busy few weeks with one thing or another.
Is it tomorrow your treatment consultation is? Is this to go through your plan? Do you think they will suggest anything different? Great news about your blood results, they came back a hell of a lot quicker than mine did lol 😂. At least that’s something you can tick off the list. So do you think you will start meds on 9th June? If so, when’s the estimated transfer date? Please let me know what they suggest to see how it compares to mine. You decided on 1 or 2 yet embabies yet? It’s always going to be a tough call to make and only you know what’s best for you.
Well I had my treatment plan today, period turned up 3 days early so can’t start this month, estimated period start date is 26th June, im sure they gave me the incorrect potentially transfer date as she said 10th July, didn’t realise until I left so have a month to question this. We have 3 frozen so hopefully 1 will work, we are only putting one in this time but who knows next time around.
How are you feeling about the next try? X

Hyppyb · 01/06/2023 15:00

@SH998 Busy is sometimes good. I'm quite busy dealing with the changes at work and covering sickness and people leaving.

I had my treatment consultation, it's a nurse who goes over medication and what to do. Nothing new. The blood tests hadn't been looked at so I was told to send them again. The doc may look over them and say fine go without clotting treatment as overall my clotting tests were fine or may say the GP didn't do certain specific tests so they want me on the clotting treatment.

Im still proceeding with the medicated FET regardless that's what's I've been told. Should get an update in a few days but I'm not like anxiously waiting or fussed really. Day 2 full flow period I would start eostrogen. As I said before i would only transfer one embryo as i don't want triplets or quads. It's also against the clinics recommendation to do 2. No nothing will change with my FET will be same as the last 3 times except testing for progesterone. I don't really feel anything about my FET, it's like here I go again. I think I'd be surprised to get pregnant. I've even bought cheap tests rather than the more expensive ones that detect 6miu.

That's a shame your period came early. Yea you were definitely given the wrong transfer date. It's usually day 19 to 22 of your cycle for a 5 day embryo transfer. Last time mine was day 19. It depends on how quickly your lining gets thick. Day 22 would be if your lining has taken quite long to thicken. Eostrogen gives you more time. I've always needed a second scan as my lining is never over 7.5mm the first scan. My plan is to take baby asprin from day 1. Your chances are really good, as I said before the doc said 1 out of 4 is usually a healthy baby. So your baby is likely one of your embryos.

Hope you are feeling positive. Before you know it your period will be here and another FET.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 01/06/2023 16:07

@SH998 So another doctor called, went over my blood test, said all was fine but some tests were missing. Clearly not reading my email that explained my GP does not do very specialised blood tests. So the doc said I could do additional tests at the clinic, I said no, that the GP tests was a overall clotting screen and it showed there were no issues, yes there could be a rare clotting issue but the chances are so small and it took 12 weeks to miscarry, the baby held on that long with an injection, clotting issues would be the opposite, people can't stay pregnant and miscarry quickly.

The doc asked do I want to take steroid pills which would stop certain things that may be working against you it's called Prednisolone. I said that sounds good do yes. Came off the phone, started reading and there is a small chance it can cause birth defects, the doc didn't bother telling me that. So I won't be doing prednisalone not told them that just wont ask for prescription. So just a simple medicated FET.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 01/06/2023 21:34

@SH998 I looked at InfertilityTV a YouTube channel I always follow because they share case studies and facts. They don't have a video on prednisalone but in another video someone asked in the comments about steroids which prednisalone is and InfertilityTV responded the researched literature shows it useless. Maybe there is a minority of conditions it may help, supposedly the benefits outweigh the risks, like one woman said her friend took prednisalone had a baby and he was born with a cleft palette which prednisalone is known for but says her friend would never have had a baby without taking it. I definitely won't.

I will start today baby asprin, at night, from today, will aid thinning the blood, hoping it will give better lining so thicker results sooner on my first scan so I only go once for my scan not 2 like prior. I've seen women with 12mm day 10. Will work out to be 30 days before transfer taking aspirin and Infertility TV said in a case study more women had successful pregnancies taking asprin than the group that took the placebo drug, although the miscarriage rate was the same, proving baby asprin doesnt cause any harm, so if there were clotting issues in some women the asprin may have helped. InfertilityTV said start post transfer is pointless. My clinic once told me to take it day 14 but other FETs never mentioned asprin. I thought I'd share my medicated FET plans and what I learnt.

SH998 · 02/06/2023 11:34

@Hyppyb I was sure she advised the incorrect transfer date too but I have a month to clarify this via email. If my period arrives on time and the transfers is 19 days after then my due date will be 3rd April. That was the exact same due date as the one we lost - I'm not sure if that's a good or bad sign. I was so happy to be having an April baby though so who knows :)
I start 2mg of Progynova twice a day which increases to 3 a day after a few days then again to 4 a day after another few days. I cant remember when she said the Cyclogest starts, my head was mangled leaving there. I get so nervous nothing goes in so again I need to clarify that, I always do this though lol. They did say that the Lubion will start the day of the transfer and they will also insert progesterone after the transfer which I'm sure they haven't done before or at least that hasn't been mentioned to me. This is far more than I've ever had before. What sort of doses are you on?
How thoughtless of your clinic not to mention possible defects, regardless how small this should be your choice to make, thank god you looked into this. I would agree with you, I wouldn't take any chances no matter how small they seem to be.
I can remember that my lining was 8.4 on the first scan with the positive pregnancy, however, I cant remember on the others. I do recall needing 2 scans prior to transfer on all, I really need to start writing it down for future reference. Its always good to have a comparison isn't it.
What's your estimate transfer date? Have you taking any time off for it? I cant see me booking additional days off, the positive pregnancy I went straight to a wedding afterwards so resting up isn't always required.

Hyppyb · 02/06/2023 13:15

@SH998 I would 1000% see the same due date as before as a good sign like the stars are aligning, fate working together. So you shouldn't fear it but embrace it. 😊 A spring baby is good. I love spring. Symbol of new life so 🤞 my possible due date is mid march.

I've never had Lubion before but this time I was told I would have a progesterone blood test 2 days before transfer and then depending on the hormone level have lubion injections. Have you had Lubion before? How many injections a day is it? How long? I'm guessing it's up to a BFN or 8 to 12 weeks of a BFP. It's pretty expensive if BFP for private patients but if it contributes to BFP then will save money long term wise.

Funny how clinics prescribe different doses.
Day 2 is 3 x eostrogen a day, always been that for me.
Day 14 is 3 x progesterone vaginal pessaries, but you shouldn't worry about when as at my clinic they tell you when at the scan because you start taking them depending on your linings thickness. Usually it's day 14 for me. It has to be 5 days of vaginal progesterone before transfer that essential to mimic the 5 day embryo. That's the most important thing. Then day 6 the transfer. If you had a day 3 embryo then it would be 3 days of vaginal pessaries and you transfer would be earlier like day 17.

If my period starts on the 9th June, my full flow would be the 10th June which is day 1. So my transfer day estimated is the 28th June. I hope it is or earlier if my period comes sooner as I booked 3 days off that week, so if its the 29th I will have to come up with an excuse as my supervisor is off that day already.

I don't plan on resting after, I didn't when I got pregnant either. I was off work the day of the transfer and back to work 2 days later but I really don't think it matters. At the end of the day it's down to the embryo being genetically normal and your womb being receptive to that which it will be as that's why they scan you. As long as your not over exerting your body at time if implantation or over heating it like in a sauna it's all good. I see some women go for long walk after to get the blood flowing to their womb. I will definitely be back to work after my transfer.

Was going to say the eostrogen makes it harder to tell if you are pregnant early on because last time when I was it was a fresh transfer so had no eistrogen and I had sharp cramps and knew I was but estrogen gives those same symptoms.
