Hello and welcome to thread 6! You guys are all amazing, can't believe the thread is still going! Congrats to those with BFPs and baby dust to those who are trying! Xx

@dearhummingbirds @missmoosh thank you both xx Yes exactly. The only catch there is if your period is always on time, you'll notice something is up if it's late by a day or two. Getting a BFP is a wonderful thing, but in the very early stages of pregnancy where the risks are just so high, that euphoria you get can all too easily be ripped away from you. Just depends on how well you take it, given that I'm still new to all of this, I've completely failed to manage my expectations.

Houseelf90 · 14/09/2022 11:56

@SarahShorty I think that’s very sensible and certainly something I’m going to do going forward! I had no idea before thinking about TTC and reading on here the amount of testing that goes on!! I got caught up in the whole testing with fmu for several days in our first cycle and I just don’t think I can do that month in month out for what could be a long time!! I’m not going to test until I have a missed period going forward, it may not be a week past but certainly a couple of days! I’ve not got any tests in the house now and not going to buy one even until I’ve missed AF!

Bananatoast123 · 14/09/2022 20:28

@SarahShorty thank you 🥰 I’m fully expecting AF though as got all my normal pms. I hope you’re doing okay and staying as positive as you can going into your next cycle! I’m going to be going into cycle 8 and losing the positivity too! My OH is away with work during our fertile window so I’m going to take it as a month off everything and then get back on it for cycle 9! It does feel like a waste but maybe taking a step back because we can’t anyway might be good for us!

Keep going! 💪🏽 You’ve got this and one will stick!

SarahShorty · 14/09/2022 21:06

@Houseelf90 it is definitely something worth considering after a while, I think. Only so many letdowns one can take before hopelessness sets in. That's how I see it anyway.

@Bananatoast123 Thing is PMS symptoms are so similar to early pregnancy it's nearly impossible to tell, so I have my fingers crossed for you xx You really never know! Sucks that a cycle gets wasted, but as say you'll be raring to go for cycle 9.

We absolutely have got this. We will get there. All of us. Have to keep the faith xx

Nypie · 14/09/2022 23:56

Hey all jumping on late as per usual. Hope I haven't missed any positives! AF arrived 2 days late after a faint line on a dud test. So onto cycle 3 our last until late December.

Interesting here there are others who partners have varicocele @DesertSnow really glad they told you your partners was okay!

Bananatoast123 · 15/09/2022 08:15

BFN this morning! Period due tomorrow so taking it I’m out and I’ll wait for AF!

@SarahShorty thank you for your positivity though!

onto cycle 9 🥺 as we will miss cycle 8! Going to have a month focusing on me! Also tempted to cut out my multivitamin and get single vitamins that I need!

DanisEndo · 15/09/2022 09:13

Hey guys, I really don’t get OPKs

does it look like I peaked on CD19 with 0.6?? So ovulated 24/48 hours after that? Or is that not high enough? I’m still testing but just so low again now…. Have I not ovulated?

(not doing BBT as I don’t wake up at the same time every morn and am crap at remembering)

DanisEndo · 15/09/2022 09:13

Sorry picture didn’t attach

dearhummingbirds · 15/09/2022 10:18

@DanisEndo you might have missed your peak by starting your testing too late? My peak is usually around CD14-16, although everyone varies.

dearhummingbirds · 15/09/2022 10:36

@DanisEndo I’m not that diligent in testing as we’re not TTC until next month, but I wanted to start to see what my cycles looked like. This was my July for reference.

DanisEndo · 15/09/2022 10:54

@dearhummingbirds I have wondered that but it was the same last month... 0.6 on CD18 then low again consistently until i had AF on CD41 so cant have ovulated earlier than CD18/19 if luteal phase is a max 17 days right? Surely by that logic the earliest i could have ovulated is CD 24? Ive always had long cycles

dearhummingbirds · 15/09/2022 11:24

@DanisEndo I’m not well versed in this.

But, if you’re having 41 day cycles, and you’re supposed to have a luteal phase between 11-17 days… your AF was 26th August? So working back I would expect your ovulation to be 10th-14th August?

So I can see why you’re saying what you’re saying and why the pre-mom app has your purple section where it does.

Maybe you have a longer luteal phase because you have a longer cycle?

I’m just speculating though 😁

I would try testing a couple days earlier than you have been.

DanisEndo · 15/09/2022 11:34

@dearhummingbirds Ahah why is all this so complicated?! Why are we not taught about any of this at school?! Maddness. thanks for the tip I'll give it a go next month and see what happens :')

Welshgal85 · 15/09/2022 13:36

I’m feeling the same, why is it so complicated?! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
OPKs have been showing as high fertility past 4 days now which is unusual for me and I do wonder if I ovulated earlier in the month as mentioned before.

Still symptom spotting and still have stomach cramps, no more bleeding now but I’ve started feeling a bit nauseous. App was saying AF was due next week but now it’s changed to week after for some reason so not sure when to do pregnancy test. Think I may try one tomorrow and see as that would be a few days before AF was originally due.

DanisEndo · 15/09/2022 15:39

@Welshgal85 thats so annoying ahaha why would it move?! Good idea, will keep my fingers crossed for you!

DesertSnow · 15/09/2022 18:08

Sorry to all who've had BFNs or AF.

@SarahShorty @Houseelf90 I kind of agree re. early testing. I'm not sure about when/if to test - if my cycles were regular enough I would wait till after a missed period, but my luteal phases over the last few months have ranged from 7-11 days so really not sure when that would be!

@Welshgal85 How many days have you been testing high on the OPKs now? It's sounding promising! (without wanting to get your hopes up too much!)

@missmoosh sorry AF is being brutal. I have endometriosis and my periods are really unbearable, so I'm on prescription painkillers - but that only takes the very edge off. Other than that, only really have the usual suggestions! Hot water bottle etc. Hope it improves for you.

Hi and welcome @Parisbluecat. Good luck!

@Nypie does your OH have a variocele too? My OH found out he has one years ago as as ttc time approached we were a bit worried, but GP says if you can't see it easily (you can't, his was found under investigation) then shouldn't be a prob - though never say never of course. But it's helped us relax a bit - at least about that!

@DanisEndo OPKs are tricky! They sound so simple but aren't always. I would second @dearhummingbirds' suggestion to start OPKing a little earlier in your cycle.

I thought I was going to get my peak on OPK today - it's a very strong positive, as close as it could be to peak without actually peaking. So hopefully I'll ovulate in the next couple of days. And then onto my first TWW! Although given the longest my luteal phase has been in the last few months, probably 11 day wait at most...

Sending everyone lots of baby dust.

keeponsmiling2019 · 15/09/2022 18:41

@DesertSnow hey just seen your update. My partners vein feels quite big. Maybe this will be a problem. It wasn't this big when we concieve our son in 2019

DesertSnow · 15/09/2022 18:58

@keeponsmiling2019 How long have you been trying for this time round? Even with a big vein, it isn't necessarily a problem, but maybe worth him speaking to the GP if it's got bigger?

keeponsmiling2019 · 15/09/2022 19:11

@DesertSnow 4 cycles so far. Going to use concieve plus this month. I think I'll ask him to go to GP after Xmas if we still don't have any luck.

Welshgal85 · 15/09/2022 19:23

@DesertSnow been testing high for 4 days now.

DesertSnow · 15/09/2022 19:23

@keeponsmiling2019 That sounds like a good plan. The good news is that you have conceived before, so hopefully it won't cause an issue this time around. Good luck, hope you get your BFP soon!

DesertSnow · 15/09/2022 19:24

@Welshgal85 Gosh! Have everything crossed for you.

Welshgal85 · 15/09/2022 19:26

@DesertSnow thanks, spoke to a friend earlier and she said she had the same and turned out to be pregnant but we will see! I’m dying to test but also don’t want to do it too early!

Houseelf90 · 15/09/2022 19:52

@DesertSnow its so hard isn’t it!! One day I’m saying I’m not testing until AF is late, and the next I’m wanting to go and buy tests!!
Not helped by my other half at the weekend saying I could be pregnant!! I told him I’m not, I had a BFN and then AF showed…..he said it could have been implantation bleed as it was short and light!! So now I’ve got that in my head, along with thinking I would ovulate this week but no EWCM yet….last month I had loads!! Ughh why is it this complicated!!

SarahShorty · 15/09/2022 20:13

@Welshgal85 @Houseelf90 the human body is a very mysterious thing. My fingers are crossed tightly for you both xx
