Hi all. Not posted in a while, but having been checking in and reading from time to time.

I hope everyone is doing well? Sending all the positive energy and good thoughts for those who have had BFN or MC :(

October was supposed to be our first month TTC. We went to Aus for a couple of weeks, so I wasn’t really tracking where I was in my cycle. AF is due around now, so did a HCG just out of interest… and got a line. But hearing all the stories on mumsnet made me second guess that it was an evap line. Which turned out to be true. So luckily didn’t get my hopes up!

ScarletDreams · 31/10/2022 09:53

SarahShorty · 30/10/2022 16:18

'twas I 😄 My DH recommended it to me and I thought I'd pass it on. You can get CM at any point throughout your cycle, though sometimes it doesn't make it all the way out, hence sometimes people test for it by using some toilet paper and wiping, or using fingers, sorry about TMI. Your sex drive is indicative of hormone levels changing, although if you're quite stressed, it can affect your libido. How are you doing otherwise? The TWW is torture so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

@SarahShorty it was interesting to watch and brings you back down the reality of knowing that's it's not as simple as just dtd! Thanks for the recommendation.
So far I'm doing OK, 4dpo today so I'm not letting myself get too carried away. I imagine the second week is the harder one as the temptation to symptom spot and test will start!
Hope everything with you is going OK?xx

BethSuz27 · 31/10/2022 10:19

Hi all! BFN again today and think AF is coming so on to cycle 3! Planning to not track ovulation this month (because it means I’ll be heavily pregnant at my sisters wedding) so I’m not “officially trying” but still going to BD every 2-3 days I think! I’m also going to look into things to help with ewcm and implantation!

SarahShorty · 31/10/2022 10:21

@ScarletDreams You're welcome 😊The second week is harder if only because the temptation to test becomes increasingly more fervent. I'm okay. My cycles have been very weird since the last chemical 3 months or so ago and I'm on CD20 today and have not had my LH surge, but have highs and dips. We've DTD'd CD15, 16, 17 and 18, and then stopped because anymore will deplete sperm, and since DH has low sperm anyway, it's not wise to keep going at least for a couple of days.

LucyLoopyLu · 31/10/2022 13:04

@SarahShorty hope you're ok, sounds like you have covered it and fingers crossed this is your time 🤞

@Dreamingof3 hope your scan goes well today!! Are you finding out the sex?

Thanks all for your good wishes.
We are back from our tests. Glad it's over. My OH found the sperm sample bit very awkward but at least it's done.

Blood test was not as bad as it could have been. I kept quite calm until I actually got in the room which is a success in my book. The lady was very nice and very quick. I did cry and was sobbing like an idiot but I didn't feel faint or feel sick so I am counting that as a big achievement (I know it sounds stupid).

The scan was absolutely fine and the lady talked me through everything. She said there was nothing that looked concerning. She measured my womb and took a 3d scan etc, said shape and lining all good. She also looked at my ovaries and said they looked fine, left one was smaller and counted 10 follicles, the right one was bigger and counted 18. She said that I look to have ovulated fine from my right ovary this month. Apparently 10 is fine and 18 is good? I haven't googled it or anything.

So that's all a bit of a relief. Obviously they might say more on the actual results consultation once they've looked at all the measurements but hopefully it's OK.

My husband is convinced there will be problems with his sperm but at least we will know soon. Just have to wait till next Wednesday

LucyLoopyLu · 31/10/2022 13:10

@HeathenPlayingHouse hope you're OK, keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞

@PinkButtercups sorry to hear how uncomfortable and painful you're finding it. Hope those babies give you some time to relax soon. Have you got a birth plan?

HeathenPlayingHouse · 31/10/2022 13:17

@LucyLoopyLu Thank you lovely 😘

AF is due tomorrow, so I'll test in the morning if she hasn't arrived. I'm worried that my mind is making up symptoms to mess with me though. The cramping has gone, but I'm feeling a bit giddy. Also, my stomach turned yesterday when stripping the leftover roast chicken. That was a big aversion for me last time, but it didn't start that early lol. Plus I feel sick at the idea of drinking pop, which for me is almost unthinkable 😂

Dreamingof3 · 31/10/2022 13:31

@LucyLoopyLu glad it all went well! I hope the wait for your results doesn't drag too long!
We had a 16 week gender scan but wouldn't have minded some confirmation today😂 our sonographer was lovely and explained everything in detail...baby however was not playing ball. Hiding behind my placenta and c section scar! So couldn't get the views they needed and we have to go back in 2 weeks! Pretty standard with this baby though 😂

EmmRach · 31/10/2022 15:27

Saw something interesting today. I haven't researched but trusting it to be true as I don't think it can hurt:

"Crying activates the parasympathetic nervous system and lowers cortisol levels. Crying is the bodies attempt at self regulation."

Obviously cortisol is not great when TTC so let's all let our feelings out and have a good cry!

PinkButtercups · 31/10/2022 16:34

@LucyLoopyLu thank you.

No, I don't do birth plans as such because I don't see much point. Obviously I have preferences but whatever is safest for us all. I'd like to have a vaginal birth but depending on the position of the twins are next week at my scan will determine what is most likely. I've always known a c section is probably what I'll end up with since 14 weeks x

Bananatoast123 · 31/10/2022 20:23

I’m CD13 and got 0.9 on my LH test this evening after a 0.3 this morning! I’m thinking I’ll ovulate tomorrow or CD15 as I reckon I’ll peak overnight or tomorrow morning which is around my normal these last few months! Dtd CD10,12& today. Will try see if OH is in the mood tomorrow or wednesday.

How does bbt work? Does your temp keep rising until the day of ovulation? Doing bbt for the first time this month

Welshgal85 · 31/10/2022 21:38

Hi all,

Hope everyone is okay.

I had a BPN so onto cycle 4. We’ll be on holiday when I’m ovulating this month so going to leave the OPK’s this month and try to relax and see how things go! 🤞🏻

lj2022 · 31/10/2022 21:45

@Bananatoast123 so your bbt should rise after ovulation and stay elevated until AF arrives. Are you using an app to track it I struggled to track without an app. My BBT even used to stay high when AF arrived (unusual but can happen) then dropped below baseline again. I done BBT for 7 cycles 1 before starting TTC and 6 cycles TTC then stopped for 2 as my cycle was so regular so didn't feel the need. Any questions I'll try my best to help or answer

DesertSnow · 31/10/2022 22:25

@Bananatoast123 ah thanks, I'll try starting on 1000mg when AF arrives. The bottle says I can take 1-3 but as the dose is 1000mg I'll start out with one, can always more. Fingers crossed the shooting star is a good sign for you!

@LucyLoopyLu glad tests are done and great they didn't see anything of obvious concern. Try and keep busy to distract yourself - easier said than done, I know.

@HeathenPlayingHouse fingers crossed those food aversions are a good sign!

@Welshgal85 Good shout on relaxing and seeing how it goes - I'm in a similar position as my fertile window starts day after my wedding this week, then we're off on a mini moon - so I won't be OPK'ing (though will BBT) and maybe that will help with relaxing! Have a great holiday.

@Bananatoast123 Some women (though not all, and not every cycle) sometimes see a slight dip just before the temp rise which can be another clue of ovulation. But as @lj2022 said, it's the elevated temperatures you're looking for. The last temp before the rise is when you ovulated.

Welshgal85 · 31/10/2022 22:49

Aww that’s exciting about your wedding @DesertSnow hope you have the most amazing day and a nice relaxing mini moon too!

Bananatoast123 · 01/11/2022 06:44

@lj2022 @DesertSnow thank you both! When do you take your temperatures? Sometimes I do mine as soon as I wake up still in a dark room but it gives me really low readings 😩 but if I wait a few mins it seems to pick back up? So I’m not sure if I’m doing it right!

I definitely stayed elevated this month until my period went so day 5! But I’m ovulating now and I was 36.28 yesterday morning and 36.20 today? Yet my LH only started to rise at 8pm last night? Is it normal to get little flutters in temperature?

lj2022 · 01/11/2022 07:57

@Bananatoast123 definitely take it as soon as you wake up and before you get out of bed. Don't wait to take it as that alters the readings. I found natural cycles app great for helping me understand my BBT think it's £6 a month but I found it the easiest app to use. There is Premom which is free though I just preferred natural cycles. It may be that you're ovulating today just persist with taking your readings and treat these few days as ovulation days

Bananatoast123 · 01/11/2022 08:08

@lj2022 this is helpful I’ll have a look at natural cycles! I take it when I’m in bed still, but my first readings when I’m still groggy and haven’t moved was like 35.78 when previous day was 36.03! But then if I retake straight away without moving still it went to 36.28! 35.78 seemed really low to me??

I did an lh test this morning and it’s at 1.1! So I think I’m ovulating tomorrow so I’ll keep taking the bbt readings throughout my cycle and maybe my temp spike is still to come!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 01/11/2022 08:11

Morning!

Today is D-Day and I made the conscious decision a long time ago not to be convinced by anything but a solid line, so I'm still counting this as a BFN, but with a possibility.

Love to all ❤️

@Bananatoast123 I'll try find my old charts and pop them on for you to have a look at as fluctuations are normal. Also yes your temp changes even waiting a few minutes so sounds like you're doing it right.

lj2022 · 01/11/2022 08:31

@HeathenPlayingHouse have everything crossed for you 🤞

HeathenPlayingHouse · 01/11/2022 08:40

@lj2022 Thank you 😘 I'm kicking myself for needing to pee at 2am- I might have got a better line if I could hold it lol!

lj2022 · 01/11/2022 08:59

@Bananatoast123 I have attached a list of my temperatures and a chart from Premom as I deleted my natural cycles when I no longer needed it. Hope this helps a little you can see my list of temperatures and compare them to CD on my chart and as you can see I had fluctuations. Any questions give me a shout
