Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

@NSx have you read 'it starts with an egg'? Really good protocols in there. I'm older and it seems to be a struggle to get pregnant but it defo helped me upping the vits

With supplements - it's just making sure you pick a good brand as a lot of the cheap ones are full of shit and don't have enough good stuff

Life Extension
Jarrow
Biocare
Wild Nutrition
Terra Nova
Nordic Naturals for omega
Optibac for probiotics

Mummyme87 · 14/09/2022 09:07

I was taking a lot of extra stuff as the multi vitamins often don’t have enough of what is good for fertility. Have laid off a few of them for now

@NSx yes 5days down, 7 to go until the end of my TWW. I haven’t got any FRER but I do have cheapies. I’ll try and hold off testing but who knows

winningeasy · 14/09/2022 09:10

@NSx zinc and ubiquinol is egg health, Nac, omega and r-lipoic are all anti oxidants that in simple terms help your body be more efficient and get rid of the oxidative stress for performing crucial functions, vaginal probiotics to promote cervical mucus (but also one of the first things a fertility will tell you take as not having the right flora balance can really hurt chances), vit D because I was on the lower end of normal when I got tested and it supports thyroid - essentially it's a hormone and should be at the upper end of normal to get pregnant. Needs to be liquid first thing.

I've been taking schisandra, gluthione, milk thistle to detox liver in run up to trying to conceive also, this is the most essential organ.. hence why giving up drinking really helps sometimes. Essentially liver plans the pregnancy.

TSH (thyroid simulating hormone) needs to be below 2.5 to conceive and maintain healthy pregnancy, so I take L'tyrosine and make sure I have lots of iodine in my diet through sea kelp. For me this was the game changer last time, even though my thyroid was normal (3.5) and not a cause for medical concern, it was sub optimal for conception. Super common women in late 30s / 40s, if you're in your 20s it's prob totally fine. I managed to get Levothyroxine in prescription, and within a month I was pregnant after over a year of trying. Highly recommend getting it tested, have to do it private to get the full panel, Medichecks are good.have to do test early in the morning and fasted to be accurate. It's so incredibly common and also causes miscarriages if it's high, there's a lack of awareness amongst NHS but actually nice guidelines say under 2.5 now so that's a good start

NSx · 14/09/2022 09:39

@winningeasy wow, thanks for the info - some food for thought - I’m going to look into those, im just nervous as I just turned 35, I conceived naturally in feb (34) without taking any of those things except folic acid - my pregnancy was cut short as my little girl had a syndrome incompatible with life at 17.5 weeks, but now I’m trying again (cycle 3) and I don’t seem to get this ewcm that everyone talks about only wet cm (tbh I never noticed I had it before when I was pregnant earlier in the year) but then again I wasn’t aware of half the stuff I am now, I just used OPKs for a couple of months & got pregnant β€” but now I’m into everything and I don’t know if it’s worse that I’m more aware: I don’t know what to do really. I’m taking Pregnacare at the minute and that’s it.

@Mummyme87 i have some frer and some IC i probably won’t test unless I get some signs - as last month I had basically nothing and wasn’t pregnant obvs πŸ™„

winningeasy · 14/09/2022 10:01

@nsx so sorry about your loss, that must have been / continue to be absolutely devastating. 35 is young these days with conception, but improving egg health makes a lot of sense regardless of age. High recommend the book 'it starts with an egg' - it's on Audible too. Lays it all out.

Re mucus, try borage oil (believe this is same as starflower) it's the most rich in the nutrient that is important for CM (GLA), more than evening primrose. Nordic naturals do a good one, Omega 3, Vit D and Borage which is perfect for fertility. Super important to have a balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 (borage has loads of 6).

I never had EWCM when I was ttc last time - but I randomly got it this cycle. Literally not seen it since my 20s. A tiny little miracle in my pants. I think it's possibly the Nordic Naturals supplement I mention above and/or the Optibac Vaginal probiotics. Something is working in that regard anyway. Some people use Proceed / Conceive lubes (I did when ttc last time) but it kind of kills the mood to have to insert a load up there, and I noticed it's got some dodgy ingredients in there that are hormone disrupters so I am avoiding those this time.

NSx · 14/09/2022 10:12

@winningeasy i took starflower oil for 2 months but then I read it has a lot of omega 6 and can off balance stuff - I wasn’t taking omega 3 - so I stopped because I got the fear -
I’ve been using preseed, in feb I used the clear blue lubricant as I had heard it was good & it worked - so I’m not adverse to using a good lubricant just to encourage sperm movement β€”
yes it has been a tough time; but I’m trying to move on, the problem I have is that I didn’t use any of these before just folic acid & it worked so now I’m scared to take too many things - that old saying β€˜if it isn’t broken don’t fix it’ springs to mind… so I’m worried if I start messing about it can make things worse, does that make sense at all? it worked in feb without using any of those extra supplements so I’m wondering if it’s worthwhile taking lots of stuff ?

LavenderWillow · 14/09/2022 10:29

Morning ladies,
Think I pay have got my peak OPK this morning, will find out this afternoon when I take another.
Managed to convince DH to DTD this morning! ;)

On CD 16, predicted ovulation is Friday CD 18, but doing BBT which will confirm when the TWW starts.
Trying to decide whether to DTD tomorrow or if it's overkill, have DTDd CD11,13,14 and 16 so hoping something sticks!

winningeasy · 14/09/2022 10:42

@NSx yes not good to take borage without omega 3, so either both or not at all. I think definitely read the book as it's not just about conception, it's about reducing chances of genetic abnormalities as well and increasing chances of going to full term through egg health. If you take one thing, take a high dose of ubiquinol x

NSx · 14/09/2022 10:49

@winningeasy thats the thing I don’t know what should be taken with what so best to not take it at all Incase I upset things πŸ™„ … I actually have it on audiobook I’ve listened to a bit of it but not all- I must try and listen more …
ubiquinol ? is this coq10?

winningeasy · 14/09/2022 10:58

@NSx I think the omega balance is quite specific, you could counteract the Omega 6 imbalance from Borage it just by having fatty / oily fish like mackerel a couple of times a month probably - always better to get nutrients from food sources.

I find supplements that group together stuff we need the best eg omega 3, Borage and vit d.

Best to switch folic acid for folate - more bioavailable.

Ubiquinol is a much more bioavailable form of coq10. It's more useful for fertility in this form

The book has all the supplement protocols - quantities / when to take etc - super useful

NSx · 14/09/2022 12:01

@winningeasy ok yea I get what you mean, I haven’t finished the book - actually im
not even half way through I sometimes listen driving to work.
I think at the minute I’m going to just take the Pregnacare conception pills, and see how I go. I think next on my list would be coq10/ ubiquinol I as I have heard that is good - I’ll check it out after this cycle - I’m only 1dpo so got a while to wait πŸ˜‚
I eat a lot of fish anyways, mostly salmon and tuna & I have read up on fertility friendly foods which I try to eat a lot of - my diet is pretty good, I’ve cut back on alcohol only having it once/twice a month and I only have a coffee every so often, I don’t smoke.. so generally pretty healthy …
thanks so much for all your tips and info it’s really informative πŸ’•
how are u getting on in your cycle or are you pregnant already?

Sparklythings1 · 14/09/2022 13:03

@LavenderWillow thanks! It’s all such a guessing game isn’t it! My readings today are only 0.3 so I’m thinking it might be like that for a few days, really didn’t think it would take this long. Part of me wants to just not test again and not think about it til I get my period but the other part is like if I’ve not missed it yet we might be as well just going for it this month πŸ™ˆ it’s like waiting for a bus with no timetable that you don’t know if you’ve already missed or not πŸ˜‚

sunflower25049 · 14/09/2022 13:32

Can I join too please? Haven't read through all of the posts but if there is a Facebook page/WhatsApp group I will join that too!

Started TTC #1 in May 22 and felt unbelievably lucky to catch straight away. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks on 11.7 and period on 13/8. I started using OPKs to track this month as docs said ovulation can vary and I'm glad I did because I didn't ovulate until CD19 so if I was following Flo/Premom standard prediction I may have missed my FW. Really thought this was going to be the month but AF has just arrived... looking for support and suggestions to try again this month 😊

Also, as a side note has anyones cycle length changed after a MC? I was always 28/29 days for as long as I can remember but the 2 so far post MC have been 33?

Thanks in advance, keeping my fingers crossed for you all xxx

winningeasy · 14/09/2022 14:35

@NSx very healthy! I am sure you'll be pregnant really soon, keeping my fingers crossed for you!

My guilty pleasure is chocolate and coffee! Not giving those up!

Currently 6/7dpo (not sure which), it's my first cycle trying for #2, only DTD once this cycle though... but I've had cramps since ovulation and tummy rumbles, and had a sharp temp rise this morning. All positive symptoms but it took ages last time so i am not getting hopes up too much x

Tophy124 · 14/09/2022 14:41

I took pregnacare conception and used preseed to conceive my son. The country I live in doesn’t sell pregnancies, so I’m taking -supermarket brand prenatal gummies (as they had the highest amount of folate), daily iron pill for anemia, daily probiotic.

Actually going for a blood test today to check in getting enough folate, b12 and vitamin D and to see how my iron levels are doing. I have v heavy periods and have been anemic since delivery nearly 2 years ago so really trying to get back on track with it all. I will try NAC and order some coq10 if no luck this month. Still using preseed too!

Tophy124 · 14/09/2022 14:41

I’m 8DPO today, anyone else?

PeanutCat1 · 14/09/2022 15:25

Hi everyone, hope I'm ok to join?

Me and DH have decided we would like to start trying for dc2, AF just started today (11 days late!) so I'm on CD1 this will be our first ttc cycle, mine are usually 28 days long. I didn't join any threads when TTC ds so thought it might be nice to be able to speak to others in the same boat this time around, is there anyone at a similar point in their cycle to me at all? Smile

PeanutCat1 · 14/09/2022 15:53

Hi @sunflower25049

I'm new on this thread too and just read your post. I'm so very sorry to hear about your recent loss Flowers, keeping everything crossed for you to have a successful cycle! Xx

AF has just started for me today also, my cycles are usually 28 days although this AF was 11 days late! I'm thinking I should perhaps also try using OPKs as things seem to be a little all over the place for me at the moment and I'm not sure how accurate the Fitbit app is at predicting ovulation. Do you have any recommendations for OPKs at all? This is our first cycle ttc dc2 and I've not used them before. Smile

Mummyme87 · 14/09/2022 16:06

@PeanutCat1 i recommend easy@home OPK. Can get them on Amazon. They are the best I’ve tried

in the car earlier and felt the sharpest of pains in my left lower abdomen/groin area for about 10seconds then again a minute later. I’m only 5dpo so won’t be implantation, but that’s my first thing this TWW that made me go, ooooh

PeanutCat1 · 14/09/2022 16:23

@Mummyme87 excellent, thanks for the recommendation I will take a look. Sorry for the stupid question but my knowledge of OPK is quite limited, when you get a strong line does that mean that ovulation is close?

The pain you had earlier does sound like it could be a good sign, I think it would be unusual to get pain at 5dpo unless somethings going on in there

Mummyme87 · 14/09/2022 16:29

@PeanutCat1 once you get a test line which is as dark as or darker than the control line it’s a positive test and you should hopefully ovulate within 12-48hrs afterwards, typically the next day

Tophy124 · 14/09/2022 16:36

Obvious autocorrect on my part sorry! Should have said β€˜where I live doesn’t sell pregnacare!’ I did wonder why my message got flagged by mumsnet.

BethSuz27 · 14/09/2022 16:47

I’m 12DPO and feel like I’m counting myself out, any symptom I thought I had had gone and I had a BFN yesterday… AF is due Saturday so I’ll be joining you guys again when/if she comes

WannabeMum22 · 14/09/2022 17:27

FieldView · 09/09/2022 15:16

@WannabeMum22 a treat sounds like a great idea! What are you thinking? I'm notoriously bad at distracting myself in the tww 😬

I'm so sorry for the late response, I've managed to catch the flu in my TWW 😭. I'm thinking of booking a nice dinner and fun activity - we have a box park near us so there's a bunch of fun things to do. I'll pick a restaurant I've always wanted to try so if its a bfn then hey at least I can have a cocktail.

WannabeMum22 · 14/09/2022 17:41

Hello everyone, I've caught a really nasty flu so I've been off work for 2 days :(. I feel like I'm already out because this can't be good for conception! I'm 5dpo so any sympton spotting at this stage is madness but I have got really really veiny boobs which I've never had before. Most likely it's just a pre-period sympton but that's not stopping my googling πŸ˜‚
